The best way to bake a pizza is with a stone. They are great at distributing heat and make a nice evenly crispy crust. This stone is also easy to clean.

Expensive but well worth it

a handy tip for squeezing
This isn't immediately obvious, and indeed somewhat counter-intuitive, so I thought I would share. To prevent the juice from squirting up into your eyes, and to achieve proper extraction, you need to place the lemon or lime half with the cut side pointed down into the press, not up facing you, which would seem to fit better. The squeezer will get every last drop out, and in the process invert the skin of the citrus inside out, leaving you with only the skin and no juice.

Very useful.
This is a review of the Large Cookie Scoop. Works great for perfectly proportioning cookie dough, as well as for evenly filling sectioned baking pans with other batter such as cupcakes and muffins. Much easier to use, with less mess to clean up than home improvised tools for the same jobs, such as a tablespoon or serving spoon. Continues to survive the sanitize cycle of the dishwasher just fine and comes out looking brand new each time.

Cookie-making has never been so easy
I love this cookie scoop! My least favorite part of making cookies used to be scooping the dough onto the pan because it took so long since the dough would stick onto the spoon and my fingers.

Practice
This takes a little practice to get used to putting the opener properly on the can. However, once you do, it works extremely well- it turns smoothly and cans are opened cleanly, regardless of can size. I especially like having no sharp edges!

Rosle Rules!
This can opener absolutely is as good as other reviewers say and well worth the money. The only folks who won't like it are those with severe problems (carpal tunnel, arthritis) gripping a kitchen tool, and they will prefer a power can opener.

This is honestly the very best can opener i've ever used.I"ve tried plenty of other "safety" can openers that claim they cut below the rim of the lid so that there are no sharp edges.My problems with all these OTHER saftey can openers are as follows: (1) it's hard to line up the cutting wheel with the lid; (2) if/when you do line it up, the turning of the cutting wheel is difficult and labored; (3) you don't know when you've gone all the way around, since there's nothing to indicate you've passed the starting poing (in fact, i think with some of these other safety can openers, i'm re-cutting a whole new line into the can which doesn't line up with the old line b/c there's no guide to keep it perfectly even); and (4) it's nearly impossible to lift off the lid.

Works - slowly - but works!
The Corn Zipper works great - really great - the only negative is the small amount of corn it removes at one time. (1-2 rows) I will still use it because for some reason I make a lot less mess than when I use a knife. I'd be really excited if they'd make a wider one and I'm sure they will - give 'em time.

Wine-o who loves this opener!

Holy Cow!There aren't many real time savers anymore
But this is the real deal.I borrowed one from my brother to make homemade applesauce this afternoon.We started at 2:00 with a large laundry basket filled with apples and by 4:30 we had produced 28-16 ounce containers, cleaned up the mess, and bought a strainer for ourselves on Amazon.com.

This food strainer is not the fastest in the world, even with the optional motor...but it is well built and will last for years.It is hard to beat the price and the wonderful job this machine does.Consider you can put raw tomatoes in and it spits out the skins and seeds...how much is that worth to you?$40 is a cheap price to pay for this item and you will be happy with the results...just realize operating it by manually cranking it is not easy, it is work.If you want something easy, go to the store and buy your tomato or apple sauce.If you want the satisfaction and quality of homemade, use this strainer.

This item arrived from Amazon without the critical gasket needed to help prevent leaks. Something that I did not realize when I purchased it on 7-22-04. No opportunity to use it last year as all my tomatoes were too juicy to make sauce. Has its endearing qualities, but.....
I can only go to 2 stars for this.Cookies baked on a Silpat spread out too much and turn out too thin and with edges that are hard.I tried several different varieties thinking perhaps it was just the type of dough, but had the same result for all types.For cookie baking, I am sticking with my Airbake sheets.On the positive side, Silpat performed beautifully when I made glazed almonds, which have a very gooey sticky coating that gets baked on.They didn't burn or stick, and the Silpat sheet cleaned up nicely as promised with only warm water.Since I bought this in hopes of baking phenomenal cookies, I don't think the expense was justified.

Good, but this size is small
I have 6 silicone baking mats, and 3 are Silpat. The others are cheaper, 100% silicone that I use for non-baking. Mats like these are a worthy investment, and perform very well in the oven. But if you use standard 1/2 size sheet pans (like I do), you will want the larger size. When I am baking 200-300 cookies, it really helps to have a tray all ready to go while another is cooling and yet another is in the oven. great design
my wife tends to be "can opener challenged".I know it sounds crazy, but true.She had no problem with this one.It had the easiest mechanics, and it even had a bottle opener.

lightweight, but ok
well i like my women with meat on, not too much, not too little. this thing is just a tad on the skinny model side of life. so i am not too sure of it's life-span. from the heft and feel. maybe a few years. my old one was ok, but while on the downhill side of life, a big handle is of value (torque is good), so tis is a replacement. the old one is still alive and sharp and does a bang up job, save the torque thing. now i am ok with miss runway, but like a glamour gal she is on the pricey side...oh i'd say 8-9bucks would be a real deal. 15, well i am not shouting out in glee 'look how much i paid'.

"Bread box" is a term your grandmother knows, though her bread box was most likely tin. This one is plastic, but the principle is the same: To stay fresh, bread needs air--but not too much. Vents in this keeper allow proper circulation. The plastic slicing guide makes uniform slicing easy--starting at about a half-inch in thickness. Great Product!
I never thought there would be a time when such a simple looking item could be so priceless! It's the perfect answer to fresh bread and great looks on the counter. It surely is better than having those tons of plastic bags laying around, what a mess that can be! I found a trick that works great. I let the bread cool down just enough to where it's almost cold then in it goes to the bread keeper and viola, worked perfect and fresh bread - was better than I had expected it to be and what made it better was the no fuss no mess!! When the bread keeper is empty it's a snap to clean it out with warm soapy water and let it air dry on the dish rack. I kept the box to store the container in when it's not being used, it's small enough that I can put the item in my pantry and it doesn't take up any room. I'll surely be getting another one of these for a holiday gift (or two). This was surely a great investment and well worth the price!

A bit overpriced for what it is, but a great and necessary tool!
This product is inexpensive plastic: it consists of two clear pieces in which to store a loaf of bread and a white piece that is used as a cutting/slicing guide. Pretty straightforward, and consisting of probably a dime's worth of plastic for the whole thing. It's a very useful tool for the home bread maker, as it makes for better slicing of bread in to fairly-equally sized slices than using a knife alone (and "eyeballing it"). If you have a bread machine, you need one of these. Period.

I like the bread cutter.
I make bread because I have a son who is allergic to wheat and dairy.The bread slicer allows me to slice straighter and thinner pieces of bread which is great - I get more pieces out of a loaf and they look better.It works fine but I wish the slicer was a little more sturdy.Truthfully I purchased this product for the slicer not the bread keeper.The bread keeper works O.K., I especially like it when we travel because it keeps the bread from getting crushed, but gets smaller as we use up a loaf.I don't love the air holes in the bread keeper, it is too much air for rice bread and tends to allow it to dry out too quickly, but it would probably work better for wheat bread.For the price, this was a good purchase, plus I couldn't find a better bread slicer even at a higher price. ... Not just a pretty gadget
This frother is the best new kitchen gadget I own.Not only does it work efficiently, but it makes the best froth, from low-fat milk (preferred), in just a few seconds.Best method:put just a bit of milk into a glass measuring cup, froth for a few seconds, then heat in the microwave.Spoon onto the top of your hot coffee.Cappuccino at home in no time!

More than you expect
I bought this item in a store in Austin two years ago. I was regretting the purchase the moment I paid (I thought that $20 was too much for a milk frother, because all those cappuccino and espresso machines include a frother, but it never works as you expected, so, why this little thing was going to work better than those machines?). But then I tried it. I made a mess the first times but I loved it. Some weeks later, I went to a store to buy an old fashioned-Spanish style coffee maker. A perfect combination for my Aerolatte! Money well spent.......
I have used this twice since purchasing and am wondering why it took me so long to buy it. I am a pineappleholic and have been used to spending at least 10 to 15 minutes slicing my pineapple for the week.This amazing tool has cut that time in half and is actually fun to use.It's inspired me to make a smoothie after I'm done just so I can drink from the shell. Get the CDN Q2-450 instead for under $20
The Q2-450 is fast and accurate. It takes 2-3 seconds to go from 70 deg to 140, just fine for grilling. It has a calibration function, it's waterproof and it's under $20.
Expensive - Yes.Worth the Cost - YES
I finally broke down and bought this after being disappointed with a few "cheapies" I had purchased.I learned that the probe on those cheapies had to be inserted almost 2 inches to take an accurate temperature, and they were slow to give you the temp.This registers the temp within a few seconds, only has to be barely inserted to take a temp, and has a huge display.It is wonderful for use in the kitchen or at the grill. Now my expensive steaks come out perfect every time.

Solid Thermometer For Frothing
It was with some trepidation that I ordered this thermometer; I had read the review(s) stating that the lack of a 100 degree mark was a problem.I ordered anyway.

Good quality but poor functionality
I own several other Taylor thermometers and they are all very good quality items for their price range.However, this thermometer, though its quality is fine, lacks the temperature markings (i.e., it does not even go down to 100 F!) needed to perfect the steamed milk or frothed milk needed for lattes, cappucinos, or macchiatos.As one of the previous reviewers mentioned, once the temperature reaches 100 F, you should move the steam wand from the surface to the bottom.This is an essential step to get the perfect "microfoam" (not the big soap bubbles that you get from the Mermaid) that makes for a fantastic latte or cappucino.Bottom line: find a thermometer that has easy to read numbers, a clip, and temperature that goes down to at least 100, but preferably lower. ...
