Great Idea, but poor design. Grounds everywhere!
Purchased this item and and it worked fine for a few weeks. Then it started to overflow the grounds outside of the basket and into the water tank, water spreader and into the cup of coffee. Black and Decker replaced the coffee basket but that did not help, when I called them back they offered to send a "refurbished" replacement for $7.50 (the original price for the brand new unit was only $15) if I sent them back a piece of the power cord. And if the replacement unit does the same thing, then I would only have $22.50 in a non-useable unit. No thanks! I would suggest you stay away from this item.

No waste and no extra expense!
I had a small 4 cup coffee maker for years but had to make 2 cups in it to taste right, even though I only drank one cup. I'd forget about the second unnecessary cup, and it would sit in the pot all day while I was at work & eventually stunk up the kitchen over time.

After I figured it out I think it is a very, very good idea
When I received this thermos, at first I thought there was something wrong with it.For some reason I had the idea that to pour you had to flip up the top.Finally I went to the Amazon.com website and read about it again, it said to twist and pour.So I put some water in it to try it, and voila it poured like a charm.Whoever thought of the idea to leave the cap on (thus retaining most of the heat, which would escape otherwise) had a very, very good idea.The only thing I would change is there would be more specific directions so dummies like me understand better how it works.After I figured it out there is no way this would not be a very good thermos, if not the best! :)

i love this thermos!i fill it up in the morning with hot coffee and it will keep it hot all day.one time i accidently left it at work overnight, so i wasn't able to fill it up the next morning.i knew there was a little left in the thermos, and since i'm pretty much addicted to the stuff i decided to suck it up and drink bad, cold coffee.to my amazement it was still very warm (though not hot) and entirely drinkable!

works well, by keeping my smoothies frozen when I taken it for lunch. I have opened it after 3 hours at room temp to 80 deg, with the smoothie still frozen. Cup leaks
Cup leaks out of the top closure part. I need one that does not leak at all, most of the time my hands are full and it's a balancing act. Very disappointed for this amount of money it is not worth the aggravation.

Keeps it hot for hours - if you don't mind a funny taste
I got this mug about 4 months ago.I must say that I'm amazed at how long my coffee or latte stays hot.It's hot at least 4 hours after I make my cup in the morning.My only problem is that when I pour a latte or mocha into it, it has a funny taste.Straight coffee doesn't have that problem - it tastes just like drinking from a mug.Lattes however taste very different.I've tried cleaning it with anything I can think of and it still leaves this weird taste.Hopefully I can find another mug for my lattes that keeps them hot, but doesn't leave a funny taste.This mug isn't it.

It is a great mug, i just wish they made them in a 20 ounce size too.

it leaks
This works fine to keep drinks warm for extended periods of time, but in my opinion a travel cup should not leak, and this one spills copious amounts of liquid as soon as it is not in an upright position.A much better design is the oxo (also available from Amazon), which I had but lost it.

Good, but not hot enough
I really like the design of this mug, and it does not leak.However, I've been using it for about 8 months now and I'm starting to notice that it does not keep my coffee hot enough.At least it doesn't live up to the 3 hours that it promises -- my coffee was room temperature after only 2.

Some Like It Hotter
As with many other products on Amazon.com, the "Ultimate" earned pretty much of a bimodal distribution:People seem to basically love or really dislike the "Travel Tumbler." Either the quality control at Nissan is terrible (i.e., people are getting tumblers that differ greatly in quality), or the reviews themselves are just not very reliable.Coffee lovers may be a pretty emotional bunch when it comes to their preferred caffeine delivery method, and some of the complaints seem steeped more in emotion than practicality. I'll try clarifying the bases of my own evaluation, which places the "Ultimate's" performance somewhere between the very good/very bad polarity I see here.
About as "Spill-Resistant" as a Colander...
Well, other reviewers have extolled the virtues of this mug---including its supposed spill-resistant top.

The can cooler that works
I first purchased 1 can cooler to try it in the hot weather. I was very surprised that it worked better that any can cooler I had ever used, so I purchased 12 more and now everyone enjoys them at our outdoor events.

This cooler is perfect. Just to experiment, I placed an unopened ice cold can of beer in the Thermos cooler and left it on the kitchen cabinet @ 9 AM. When I returned 3 hours later, it was still basically cold. At 4PM that afternoon it was still a little cool. I imagine if the can would have been opened it would cool down faster, but this is perfect for the summer and sure beats styrofoam coolers. My niece was extremely satisfied with this thermos.It is sleek, leakproof, and has a large capacity despite its sleekness.It was also delivered in a timely manner.

Nice and portable
This is a pretty good thermos. I like that it is small and can fit in my briefcase but it's size also makes it difficult to clean. Thecoffee I put into it remains hot all day long but it only holds about 1.25 large cups of coffee. This works fine if you get your coffee in the morning but you may want a larger model if you plan to have coffee from the thermos in the morning and afternoon.

I just ordered more of these.Simple efficient design does what its supposed to do.I like the "360 degree" lid.I put them in the dishwasher all of the time with no trouble.I have an automatic coffee/espresso machine and these are the only cups that fit under the dispenser.

Fantastic mug
This is one of the best coffee mugs I have ever used and I had previously bought a lot and have been disappointed.Being vacuum insulated, the product keeps coffee hot for a long time!Also, the top has a neat 360 degree sip feature that also minimizes spill potential.The only knock is that the stainless steel outer body is prone to denting which makes it look bad.The mug is also small at 12 oz but is perfect for use with my "3 cup" french press.

It's hard to find that "perfect" travel mug. Most mugs are either too bulky, too top-heavy, or just look too ugly to have on your desk. But these are very simply-designed and look quite sleek. I've received many compliments from my co-workers about these mugs. It feels like you're holding a pop can in your hand, so it's very easy to handle. Also, I agree with the previous reviewer that these keep things hot a LONG time--the last time I checked, my coffee stayed hot for over 5 hours. It's easy to clean and I've even tossed them in my dishwasher without any problems. The only draw-back I can think of is that it doesn't have a self-closing drink spout or tiny lid which you can close, so if you knock it over, it will spill--but not much. No Way!Sent it Back!
I own a typical glass french press, which works great.I was willing to try this one because of the traveling capability.I would not purchase this again, and actually sent two back.It may have had great insulation to keep coffee warm, but it leaked grounds into the coffee! Yuck!

Great for Backpacking
I bought this mug/french press to use when backpacking.The outdoor stores sell something similar, but made out of plastic.I was willing to accept the extra weight for the extra durability.Plus the plastic ones can't be used as a mug.

Great for Hot Water during travel
We used this while traveling overseas - mainly for heating up water.We were able to make tea, hot chocolate, instant soup, oatmeal, etc.It was great!!It's a very compact little machine that makes hot water (or coffee) straight into a little cup that it comes with (which nests on top for storage).

Perfect mug
My coffee goes with me and not in a metal or plastic cup. Hard to spill or knock over. I was very surprised when I found this wide base cup and ordered two right away. Shipping was a little high and no discount for more than one. It is exactly what I wanted and well packed and not broken. Now comes the test of endurance.

I love the vacuum thermos!
I ordered this whole set specifically for the vacuum thermos.My roommate had a set and I had been using hers, and upon moving out, ordered my own.It keeps my coffee pipping hot for hours :) The soup looking container is not that good at keeping anything warm (my order came with a soup looking container and not the two coffee mugs, which was odd, but I didn't care as all I wanted was the vacuum thermos). I usually just drink right out of the vacuum thermos so I haven't even used the coffee cup.However,the thermos is well worth the price if you like to wait a while to drink your coffee in the morning :)

Perfect answer for those who hate the taste of plastic travel mugs
I love to drink a second cup of tea on my way to work, but have never found a plastic or metal travel mug that didn't alter the taste.This ceramic mug fits perfectly in my car's cup holder and the lid keeps hot drinks from spilling, yet doesn't touch my lips.It truly feels like I am drinking from my favorite ceramic mug at home.The non-skid bottom also helps keep my drink safe when I finish it up at my desk.This is the travel mug I've dreamed about - really! It's just perfect!

If you don't like tasting plastic or metal with your tea or coffee, this is an excellent choice.The plastic top is recessed.The top fits fine with a little twist.I'm delighted with this mug!

When I got the mug, the lid for it, was inside the mug. I pulled it out, and sad to say the lid did not fit very tight.They(the seller) let me put water in it, to see if it would leak when taking a drink.It did not, but the lid, was to the point of falling out, when you try and take a drink.Maybe it is not true of all the mugs they offer, but I felt that I had to return it.They(the seller) was very cooperative in letting me do this.Therfore I rate the seller very good, in customer service. ...
