Fits most sinks - not mine
I was so sure that this woulf fit my lone sink that I never measured and was shocked when it missed the wide edge of my sink by just a few cms on each end! Moral- measure before you buy. But I like the mesh over other hole-y colanders and will just use it on the narrower side of the sink.

Great for Pasta, Not so good for Grains
I purchased this hoping it would be a great grain strainer.It turned out to be an excellent pasta strainer, but the holes in the mesh are too large for grain straining.

Great functionality but.....
I love the capacity, the allover mesh for thorough draining and handles for off-sink useage; however, there is a lip circling the interior under the handles that annoyingly captures food when the strainer is flipped over to be washed.

This is a good quality product that I was happy to receive.I do quite a bit of pastas and vegetables.It holds a lot, drains just fine, and is well made, not flimsy like some.(My handle broke off my last one) I would definitely recommend it.

All-Clad Stainless 3-Quart Colander - Love It
This is an excellent colander, I love it.All my cookware is All Clad Stainless Steel so I decided to buy this colander and have not been disappointed.Although this is the smaller of the two sizes All Clad makes it is very roomy.This colander can drain a pound of pasta (even a pound of lasagna) without any problems.It is also great for rinsing salad, the solid side handles make it very easy to manage.It is made very well and is very sturdy.The cleanup is also very easy.Highly recommended!

My Favorite Kitchen Tool
I love this colander. No more scrubbing the tiny mesh holes of a strainer. Picks up all the big pieces of chicken and vegetables after I make chicken soup and strains the soup. The flat edge is ingenious as you can scrape right to the side of the pot with no metal edges sticking out like a strainer has. It's news to me that the handle isn't enamel and I would never leave any utensil in a hot pot for an extended period of time. I have this utensil for 3 years and it still looks like new. Buy this and you'll wonder how you ever did without it.

Best Tool I Have
I've never had a kitchen tool that is as handy as the KitchenAid Pasta Scoop. It's ideally sized for straining pasta, vegetables and stock. It's lightweight and cleans up much easier than a conventional colander. In fact, I just bought four more as gifts for friends and family.

Great buy
Got this piece as a fast solution and turned out works so well that i never went to buy a steel one as i had planed.The lid works great and helps get out the extra water and works good as a double strainer for homemade fresh juices too!

Just not as big as you would think..
I recently bought a 6 quart mixing bowl from Amco, and I was expecting the same quality -and frankly- space as the bowl. I was wrong.. I can fit my colander inside of the mixing bowl, so I don't understand how it's possibly 6 quarts. Not worth the money to ship it back though.

Not enough holes!
This is a nice-looking colander, but not very functional.It could use more holes to drain more effectively, especially on the bottom.I drained some cooked veggies in it yesterday & there was a residual pool of water that wouldn't quite drain out.My trusty, but ugly, circa 1980 green Tupperware colander performs alot better.The more holes the better when it comes to a colander!

Is there any difference?
I've seen a lot of colanders and personally, they're all about the same. What makes the Amco Colander better than others is that it uses standard sizes and they're known for their high quality steel. This is one of those where you can substitute for a cheaper product but if you got the money, go for it. =) ... Read more

Great deal on a beautiful item
This colander is beautiful and shiney. I have received compliments on it from the day I put it on display in my kitchen. The workmanship is very good, especially for the price. You can't touch something like this at Sur la Table for $15.99 (the price I paid on Amazon). NOTE: if you want to use this for food preperation, you need to purchase a metal stripper and strip the colander. The colander has a coating on it to protect the copper. This copper helps resists tarnish (which is fabulous if you are using it to display like I am but bad if you want to actually USE it as a colander). I deducted a star because I think it needs to be noted that there is work involved if you do want to use it for food prep. Not just a washing but you need to purchase a special product.

Love the sheen and size of this colander.If you intend to use it for food, you'll have to remove the protective coating first.Got a great deal.It was in my gold box, and I had a gift certificate, so I paid about $.96 for this beauty!

It's cute, but...
I got this because I needed another colander in addition to my large stainless steel one. This one is smaller & would be perfect for rinsing smaller amounts of veggies, fruit & etc. I wish that I had known before I ordered it that I'm going to have to remove the protective finish if it's going to be used for food prep. I haven't used it yet because I've got to go to Home Depot or Lowes & purchase some kind of lacquer remover. No telling how much it's going to cost. Judging from the instructions, this isn't going to be an easy task. I did see the notation that states that it has a protective coating if it is going to be used for a decoration, but I didn't think that I would have to be doing some metal stripping in order to use it. I'm not sure I want to go through the hassel. I should have read the more detailed product description, but I always just read the features & the ratings. My bad! I've learned my lesson. I know a couple of people that have copper in their kitchens. I might see if they want to buy it (it was a good deal). I don't want to go through the hassel of returning it (I would have to pay for the shipping). Anyway- it is cute, but who wants to do all that work? I gave it 3 stars, because it is my fault that I didn't notice it needs stripping. Could be better
Good colander, terrific idea, but not up to OXO's outstanding standards. The convertible feature works really well, and I enjoy the many options it affords me. But the colander itself doesn't have holes everywhere, leaving significant areas that can hold water, so you have to tip it this way and that in order to make sure your food is completely drained. The other annoyance I've found is that there's some kind of invisible channel in the underside of the handles that collects and holds water in the dishwasher, dumping a waterfall on your clean, dry dishes when you pick up the colander to put it away.
