4-0 out of 5 stars Great for large families - where 1 coffee maker doesn't fill the need
We have a large (extended) family living in one household and we go through 4-5 pots of coffee in a day. This urn is an inexpensive way for us to meet the demands of all the coffee drinkers here. And everyone likes the coffee it makes. The only thing I miss that I have on the drip machine is the timer (we have a couple of very early risers) and easy on/off.We attached ours to a timer so that it will start brewing early enough. One other thing - not a complaint, but a note about how it works, since it is a percolater, it takes longer to brew.Expect about 20 minutes for a full pot.
5-0 out of 5 stars Hamilton Coffee Maker
This coffee maker makes the best cup of coffee ever. The other 41 cups are very good too. It takes about 40 minutes to brew 42 cups of coffee. we even sneak out a few cups before the red light comes on.

4-0 out of 5 stars A crowd pleaser, but it needs an On/Off switch
This product produces a good cup of coffee and keeps it warm (not burnt) for hours. My only concern is that there is no On/Off switch. That means that you have to make sure to fill the water and add the coffee grounds and close the top before plugging it in.Not a big deal, though.Great product for the cost! ... For tea, instant coffee, or hot chocolate, this cordless, 1,500-watt electric kettle brings 1-1/3 quarts of water to a boil faster than a microwave. The kettle is made of stainless steel polished to a mirror finish. To provide 360-degree access, the kettle fits onto the power base in any position and swivels for easy liftoff. The heating element in the base never touches water, so there will be no mineral buildup on it. The roomy handle stays cool, the cord wraps on the base's underside, and rubber feet on the base resist slipping. For safety, the kettle shuts off automatically when water boils or if the kettle runs dry. The kettle stands 8 inches high on its power base and carries a one-year warranty against defects. 5-0 out of 5 stars A nice upgrade
After 20 years with 2 Russell Hobbs pots, this avid tea drinker was looking for a replacement, finally. I had hoped for another Russell Hobbs, but didn't see a good candidate -- but they do have this Chef's Choice on their site. I've had it two weeks now, and I agree with others that the switch is flimsy, but its performance is first-rate. It boils a full pot of water in about 4-1/2 minutes. For me, the steam only rises for about 10 seconds before it shuts off. There are several improvements over the Hobbs: The lid fits snugly, meaning no hand scalding even when pouring the last of the water; the side handle makes it very easy to fill; you can put the pot on at any angle without having line up a plug; and the hidden heating element is nice. However, the capacity is a bit smaller than the Hobbs -- not a huge problem, and it doesn't have the water gauge. But the lack of a gauge could be a good thing -- that was where my last Hobbs finally gave in to corrosion. It's about the same level of noise as the Hobbs. I do notice a little calcium on the bottom already, which was not a problem with the Hobbs. I live in a tropical climate that is pretty punishing to most metal appliances, so it will be interesting to see how this one holds up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this teapot
After reading the Amazon reviews I decided to order this electric kettle. I had read where somone stated that the kettle boiled too long before the auto shut-off kicked in. Maybe they have fixed that problem because, my tea kettle shuts off very soon after boiling, so I never have to worry about forgetting the boiling water. This pot looks very stylish, boils water fast, holds plenty of water and seems very safe due to shutting off quickly after water reaches boiling. I like the on-off switch, and the lack of cord.Worth the extra money over the cheaper one. I love mine!

Employing a stainless-steel vacuum carafe instead of a warmingplate, this 1,200-watt coffeemaker brews up to ten 5-ounce cups in just8 minutes for maximum flavor and aroma, and the carafe then keeps thecoffee hot for 4 hours. 1-0 out of 5 stars Yikes!
I read the reviews before buying this coffeemaker and disregarded the ones about it overflowing as fluks or that the users didn't follow the instructions. That was a mistake. I read the instructions. It overflowed everytime I used it. I returned it. Save yourself the trouble and pass on this machine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nearly perfect
Capresso's MT-500 is as close to a perfect coffemaker as I have tried. Coffee is brewed quickly and with much taste and aroma. The thermal pot holds heat for several hours reducing the need to make multiple pots during the day. Savings in coffee, filters and spring water should pay for the Capresso in time.
5-0 out of 5 stars Not brainless ease of use... but superb coffee
I have owned the MT-500 for about two months and am completely happy with the coffee it is capable of brewing. The water brewing temperature is exactly right on my machine (195 degrees F) and the brew time is OK, if just slightly long (about 5.5 minutes for the full pot of"10" cups - 1.6 liters). I will admit that it took me a while to find the correct brewing proportion of coffee / water. In the end I use 75 grams of medium roast drip grind for the full pot. If I use any more coffee than this the brew basket will overflow and it makes a mess. SO... be warned that this machine takes a little patience and experimentation to master but the results are outstanding. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It's HOT!!....
I don't like how hard it is to open it to pour liquid in/out. You have to press a button AND at the same time; get your finger-nail somehow into a crevice that looks like it's one piece and doesn't come apart. Once you open it, it looks like a bird beak opening up. Also, I wish that the top came all the way off so it could be washed easier since it looks like it would not be a good idea to get water into the top.
3-0 out of 5 stars Nice size and features, except the lock is flimsy.
I was looking for an "all season" pump dispenser to take with my kids and I to the park.I liked the fact that it keeps cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot and holds a good amount of liquid.Another selling feature was the fact that it said "easy to lock top prevents accidental spills."They failed to mention that is also an "easy to open" top.My 1 1/2 year old would have no problem opening the lid with the flick of a finger.Needless to say, I returned this item. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not hot enough
I really like the design of this mug, and it does not leak. However, I've been using it for about 8 months now and I'm starting to notice that it does not keep my coffee hot enough. At least it doesn't live up to the 3 hours that it promises -- my coffee was room temperature after only 2.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely No Complaints
I have only been using this mug for a day and I already love it!It works as advertised, you click a button and it seals completely. You can turn it completely over.I took it, full of tea, to two classes today.I simply filled it up, screwed on the cap, clicked the button, and threw it in my bookbag. Not a drop spilled out.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Travel Mug
Impressive travel mug, no dribbles and it seals tight.Click the drinking spout closed and you can turn it on its side or even upside down, sealing in the fluid perfectly.Good insulating properties too.I don't know why there is such a price disparity for different colors. If you're not careful you could pay twice as much for one of these mugs.Amazon has the best deal with its free shipping if the color green suits you well enough. ... This is a great tea kettle. It lets me choose if I want to boil water for tea, coffee, and other things. PLUS it has the option to have the heat water which is perfect for green tea. Great thing to have around the house. Better than the other $500 electric tea kettles! =)

4-0 out of 5 stars T-fal BF6520004 Vitesse 7-Cup Electric Kettle
A very fast boiling kettle with easy to read level guages. It is easy to clean and remove calcium buildup because there is no element exposed and a small amount of vinegar is required to clean off the heating plate. The only feature that seems un-necessary is the heat setting which allows you to heat water to other than boiling.

Editorial Review

The Chambord is Bodum’s original coffee press design, which the company began to mass produce in 1982 after acquiring a small factory in Normandy where craftspeople made these presses by hand. Bodum takes great care to instill the same quality in craftsmanship, and the result, according to coffee purists, is a brewing machine that produces a taste and aroma superior to any electric coffeemaker. The secret is that the grounds are able to steep in boiling water for about 4 minutes before they are pressed with the plunger, producing a richer, full-bodied flavor. The glass carafe on this Chambord model holds a maximum of 48 ounces or 12 cups of brewed coffee or tea, making it a useful size for entertaining or for all-day-long drinkers. The chrome-plated brass frame and lid and stainless-steel plunger are durable and will hold up to years of brewing. For easy cleaning, the carafe and all its parts go right into the dishwasher. Replacement parts are available from the manufacturer. Read more

  • Brews 48 ounces of coffee; retains beans' oils for rich, complex flavor
  • Sturdy, chrome-plated brass frame; easy-to-clean glass carafe
  • Stainless-steel press mechanism; replacement parts available
  • Turn lid to close spout; not for stovetop use
  • All parts are dishwasher-safe

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Coffee Pot!
A friend introduced me to French Press, so I had to share with my husband. I've always been a tea drinker, but this is an awesome way to drink coffee! We brew a whole pot, 12 cups, and will drink iced coffee for the rest of the day. The design is simple, easy to clean, and beautiful to just sit on the counter. I just wish I could figure out a better way to deal with the coffee grounds! They go straight into the garden - right from the pot!

5-0 out of 5 stars Why not?
--If you have tried french press before and are looking for a good one, there is no reason to look elsewhere.I have not tried any other models but Bodum has a great reputation and it works as advertised.I have had mine a year and never broken anything and it works great. My understanding is that the only other real option is with a thermal carafe that keeps the coffee hot longer but you don't want this as far as I understand. The reason is that in a french press, the coffee (if not poured right away) keeps on getting extracted as it sits there. There should be nothing needed to keep warm if you are serving right away.

Editorial Review

Grind coffee with the ease and accuracy of a professional with this coffee grinder by La Pavoni. The bean chamber conveniently holds 4 ounces of coffee (enough for 18 cups) so you won't need to keep refilling it when brewing for a large group. The fineness selector on the left side of the unit has 19--count 'em, 19--settings, from coarse to extra fine. And ground size does matter, as this accurate grinder will soon teach you: use coarse grounds for your French press, medium for your drip machine, and fine for espresso. Happily, this precision machine doesn't leave much room for human error. Set the amount of coffee you are going to grind for the number of cups desired, and an automatic portion timer will hold you to the proper grind time, switching itself off when finished. This heavy-duty grinder grinds slowly with burrs instead of a blade so there's no heat buildup, thereby ensuring those flavorful oils you know and love remain intact. Read more

Features

  • Recommended for Coffee grind only, see Alpina model for Espresso grind
  • 19 grind settings, automatic dial-in for 1-12 cups
  • Sturdy ABS plastic with 1/4 lb. capacity hopper
  • Removable burrs for cleaning
  • Powerful 130 watt motor is UL listed

4-0 out of 5 stars great little grinder
I did a lot of research before purchasing a grinder and I'm glad I took the time to narrow it down to this one.It has done a great job at a consistant grind, with minimal noise, and tons of grind settings.Quality.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quiet and smooth
I bought this to replace my very noisy and not-very-consistent blade grinder. So far it's been quiet and gives great and consistent grinding. My favorite feature is the smooth wheel for choosing amounts to grind. I like the fact I can choose 3.83 cups' worth of grinds, rather than three or four. I hope this burr grinder will last a long time! The only thing I would change is the plastic grinds container. A glass container would not be so static-y. Other than that, I'm very pleased with my choice.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good little grinder
Years ago used a standard spinning blade grinder for my coffee. Though it was better than pre-ground, eventually decided the gain was minor and it was not worth the hassle.Have not wanted to spend $200 for the top-line burr grinders, but saw some good reviews of the La Pavoni.I've had it for about a month now; my wife and I are very pleased. Some reviews I've seen talk about it spattering coffee ground dust in the area - have had no problems like that. The coffee is noticeably better and fresher tasting and the grinder is very convenient to use.Don't have to stand there and hold the lid down and try to guess when it has been ground to the right consistency.Just set the number of cups you want ground, put the beans in the hopper, turn it on and walk away. And the burr grinding does seem to improve flavor more than the old blade grinder did (and even more of an improvement compared to pre-ground. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars gaggia espresso machine
have had the machine two months or so. it does make reasonably good coffee but steamer is difficult to work and does not do a good job. doesn't frothe well and is too long for cups.

4-0 out of 5 stars Causes people to levitate into the kitchen
Last December, I bought this Gaggia 35008 Carezza Espresso Machine after reading a bit about various home espresso makers and realizing I could never afford one of the sleek all metal models rugged enough to withstand the rigors of deep space travel.
3-0 out of 5 stars not as good as expected
OK, I don't want to be overly negative. And I HATE buying anything that receives less than 4 stars. So I bought this Gaggia for my hubby. It's supposed to come with this rubber nipple that makes a crema. My problems are that a. the nipple is too big for the place where you put the coffee grounds (sorry I don't know technical terms, i'm no pro here, fellas). So I can't even fit the coffee into the machine with that rubber nipple in it.We called Gaggia and they were like, yeah, there is a problem with those rubber pieces.Don't even use it.But that's the point of buying this expensive machine, isn't it?The beautiful and delicious crema. My husband compares the quality of this machine, without the crema nipple with that of Starbucks coffee. Which he thinks is mediocre. But, you know, he would buy at least one regular coffee at starbucks a day, i'd say.So added up, this machine actually saves us money before the year is out.At least it gives me a few years to save up for something that I really expected.Sad really. But if it tastes like Starbucks, that's not too bad.I like starbucks, actually.I like a really stiff cup of coffee, they don't make that. But what they do make, I like as well. It's too late to return it, unfortunately, or I would in a heartbeat. If you like the Buck, though, buy it.And if you manage to get the right nipple, I believe all of your wildest coffee dreams will come true. ... Editorial Review

This tumble offers easy-sip, no-spill commuting. Virtually unbreakable, this lightweight, vacuum-insulated thermos travels to work or your favorite recreation spot. On arrival, and for hours afterward, coffee, tea, or soup will still be hot. Or lemonade, iced tea, or a sports drink will still be chilled. It's compact (7-1/2 inches high) and handsome. A band of soft, nonslip black rubber encircles the tapered, satin-finish exterior, ensuring a firm grip. Top and bottom are black plastic. Fine threading ensures the twist top seals tightly, while the smooth interior cleans with sponge or cloth. Preheating or prechilling with hot or cold water is recommended. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars it leaks
This works fine to keep drinks warm for extended periods of time, but in my opinion a travel cup should not leak, and this one spills copious amounts of liquid as soon as it is not in an upright position.A much better design is the oxo (also available from Amazon), which I had but lost it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dunno if it's microwaveable, but I microwaved it anyway
I picked up one of these from a trash pile in college (American college students tend to throw away a lot of perfectly good stuff at the end of the year) and had it for two years until I accidentally whacked it against a wall. During that time it performed quite well. I used to take out the metal plunger and heat water in the microwave in the glass/plastic body. The plastic seemed to hold up all right.

4-0 out of 5 stars One of my most used kitchen items
First off, make sure you notice in the writing above that while this is called a 3 cup press, it does not make 3 US cups.It makes 1.5 US cups. This is a sip or two more than will fit in most of my mugs and hence is exactly the amount of coffee I want since my husband can't stand coffee. If you were wanting this to make a mug each for two people though, you won't be happy with this little guy and need to look at the bigger models.

Standing handsomely on its stay-cool base, this big coffeemaker is ideal for a buffet line, office, or any other situation where a lot of people drink a lot of coffee. It percolates up to 100 cups at a cup-a-minute rate and then automatically switches to keep-warm, serving-temperature mode. That's when the light goes on and the spigot shows off its no-drip capacity, perfect for spotless cup-and-saucer use. Lifting the spigot provides a continuous flow for filling coffee servers. The 23-inch coffeemaker is made of polished aluminum. The urns cover locks in place to prevent accidental spills. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars watch out - the sizes are confusing!
I really like my Bodum coffee presses - I have two sizes, and was delighted to see I could replace the beaker separately. But watch out if you order a replacement beaker. My small one holds 3 of what I think are ordinary cups, so I ordered the 3 cup replacement beaker by mistake. Looks like my small one is actually an 8 cup unit, and my big one (which hold 5 of my cups) is a 12 cup unit. There is no info on the Bodum itself of how big it is, so if you don't remember, it takes some guesswork to figure out whether you have a "3", "8", or "12" cup Bodum.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great cup
**** When I first powered the machine on, the light was blinking 8 times, then paused, don't fret if this happens to you, it was easily solved by a call to Bunn ****
5-0 out of 5 stars Still very pleased, after over a year
I wrote the following review in April 2005, comparing the Bunn MCP with the Senseo:
5-0 out of 5 stars Bunn MCP My Cafe Professional-Grade Single-Serve Coffee/Tea Machine
I tried almost all the coffee pod coffee makers. The Cafe Professional-Grade Single-Serve Coffee/Tea Machine is by far the best. Makes great coffee and tea. The coffee comes out hot, not warm like the others. You can use any coffee pod you want and you can select how strong or weak you want your coffee or tea. Don't forget the tea. a lot of machines don't make tea. You can even use regular store bought tea bags, just remove the tag. Cost more but well worth it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile Purchase
Had to turn in the first unit I bought for a replacement because a small plastic piece on the filter basket door broke, rendering the door useless. The replacement has worked fine, but I am very careful in swinging the door open.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great coffeemaker - too much bling.
And BEWARE THE "DUO FILTER". If you buy this device make sure you dig this bizarre contraption out of the box/coffeemaker before doing anything else. Its a long plastic thing that looks like an IUD and a filter packaged in a white plastic wrap. This is supposed to go into the water reservoir, although you wont find definitive instructions anywhere in the manual. (Arggghhh spit cuss!)
2-0 out of 5 stars Hot Plate and Air Bubble issues
We have had the coffee maker about 2 months. It makes good coffee but if you pour water too quickly into the left side of the reservoir you get air bubbles in the water level indicator. Told to pour on the right side...
