Editorial Review

By brewing directly into a 40-ounce, insulated thermos carafe, this 900-watt drip coffeemaker keeps coffee hot for hours, eliminating the need for a warming plate, which can turn coffee bitter over time. The carafe's lid seals in place during brewing, locking in flavor and aroma, and there's an optional charcoal water-filter cartridge for reducing chlorine in tap water. All this adds up to great-tasting coffee from start to finish. Other features include a digital clock/timer that can be programmed 24 hours in advance to brew "wake-up" coffee, a swing-out filter basket, a permanent GoldTone coffee filter, a removable water tank, an automatic shutoff after brewing, and an automatic interrupter that halts coffee flow if the carafe is removed for a quick pour, and internal cord storage. The sleek coffeemaker measures 13-1/2 inches high by 7-1/2 inches wide by 12 inches deep. Read more

Features

  • Double-insulated thermal carafe keeps coffee hot for 4 hours
  • Removable water container with charcoal water filtration system
  • Push button swing-out filter holder with GoldTone filter; 24-hour clock/timer
  • Lid stays on carafe while brewing, minimizing heat and aroma loss
  • Measures 13-1/2 by 7-1/2 by 12 inches

4-0 out of 5 stars Not so bad at all!
Read the mixed reviews below but ordered anyway as this is the smallest high-end thermal.Yes, you have to pay attention until you've got the hang of it, but this model is just fine and brews a great cup of coffee quickly. The "pour" is nice and full with no spills whatsoever. The removable water basket with water filter a very nice feature.Once you learn to (1) securely snap the coffee filter holder into place by making sure either that you've folded down the edges of the paper filter (as required on most coffee makers), or making sure that you've fully positioned the gold mesh filter, and (2) properly screw and unscrew the coffee pot cap, it's a synch to use.ALSO, comes with a gold mesh filter, so don't order one separately as I did.Pre-heating the pot, as w/ most thermals, a good idea.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth it...
This is the second coffee maker of this model for us.The first one was a gift and we loved it.About 2 months into use, the switch that allows you to remove the pot during brewing broke and it leaked a bit, but still made a great tasting cup of coffee in a thermal carafe. So, when we started doing our wedding registry, we decided to put this on it, thinking the broken piece was just a fluke.
5-0 out of 5 stars Just bought my second one of these...
When my girlfriend (now my wife) and I moved in together, she had one of these. I sort of adopted it. I loved it, despite a few drawbacks... namely I tend to make a mess with it. But then, I tend to make a mess with just about anything. Also, the doohickey that interrupts the brewing so you can poor a quick cup broke. I was a little disappointed, but soldiered on. It makes a damn fine pot of coffee.

5-0 out of 5 stars Consistent results.
First thing - We're not coffee snobs...
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for French Press - Never a Problem!
I've had this grinder for over two years and use it mainly for french press.I have never had a single problem using it.Never a clog, a squeak, nothing.I don't find it hard to clean either. In fact, I hardly ever clean it since it sweeps the coffee out of the chamber when the motor turns. That is, the burr attached to the motor has small blades on the side of it that sweep the coffee out of the chamber as the motor turns.Unless you're grinding some kind of syrup-laden coffee, I don't find maintenance much of an issue. In any case, I use a pastry brush to clean off the removeable burr and sweep out the chamber, which seems to do the trick. For the most part, it doesn't get dirty enough to warrant anything other than a few taps to shake out any loose grinds after you do a grind.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good grinder
Grind settings are superb.I originally had a Mr. Coffee blade grinder and was frustrated with the inconsistent results.I bought a "Burr" grinder at Costco and was disappointed with the grinds being too coarse for a cappuccino maker. So I returned that one and after reading some reviews, I purchased this one and love it.No regrets. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Best Quality But Problems
My goal was to find a home brewer that will heat the water hot enough to get good extraction. This is the hotest (fastest) I've found but has so many issues, it is tuff to recomend it.I basically have bought a new one every 18 mths. The 6 cups quantity I usually make tastes so good I'v been able to everlook all of the problems. Maybe the price being so cheap has influenced me too.
1-0 out of 5 stars Not the economic alternative I was looking for
The coffee maker is very plastic feeling, but made adequate coffee for the first couple of weeks. Then the on/off button would stick, coffee began overflowing on a regular basis and grounds were everywhere.I'd have been better off paying more up front for a better machine, than replacing this one now.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worked great....for 10 days
I thought I finally found a great coffeemaker.Coffee was hot, great tasting, and brewed in no time at all.But after 10 days of use, one pot a day, I heard popping noises and smoke started billowing out of it.Not a good thing.I am very disappointed a product like this is even on the market. ... Editorial Review

Enjoy espresso the authentic Italian way with BonJour's Café Milano's stovetop espresso maker. Like an old-fashioned percolator, this handsome modern espresso maker forces hot water through ground coffee to produce deep, rich, satisfying espresso. With cream or without? That's up to you. BonJour's signature knob--charmingly shaped like an oversize coffee bean--graces the lid and adds a bit of fun to your morning espresso. Keep your fingers far from the heat of the aluminum body with the well-designed handle that curves out yet offers a firm grip. Designed and crafted in Italy, the 6-cup Café Milano version is a good size for a couple, but families or larger groups might want to opt for the 9-cup version. Hand washing recommended. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this item.
After returning the secong one, I will never use this brand again. The first one leaked water, and the second one just wouldn't wotk period. Save yourself the time and effort and buy another brand!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Cheap immitation made in China
Under the description says "made in Italy" but the box is marked "made in PRC". When if first starts to brew the coffee spills over the top and makes a mess. The taste of the coffee is somewhat with a "metalic" flavor and taste. Save your money for another type of stovetop espresso maker.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for those who don't mind a challenge at first
I just bought the 9-cupper and was suprised at how little it was. That's 9 cups? I said to myself. It's more like one!But espresso is supposedly taken in itty bitty cups (shot glasses with handles), hence the smallness.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Single Serve Coffee Maker I've Tried
I have a Senseo, and I've tried the Keurig - The Tassimo seems to brew the best tasting coffee. The cappuccinos and lattes are very tasty - almost like the coffee house versions.Lots of froth and very smooth.Only 60 calories for the cappuccino and 70 for the latte - so weight watchers can have a ball.Price-wise the pods are a little more expensive for the Tassimo, but for the difference in quality, it seems worth it.I've only tried one type of "regular" coffee - the Gevalia superior blend (dark). It was pretty good, at least the 10+ ounce cup I had did taste so weak I couldn't drink it (like the Keurig or Senseo). The higher initial purchase price, and the higher coffee prices are the only thing to hold you back from purchasing this unit. The 18 packs of hot chocolate are about $3 cheaper than the 18 packs of coffee.

4-0 out of 5 stars Just bought one yesterday
I didn't buy the Tassimo 1200 through Amazon, but I bought it yesterday and so far I really like it. A few things to know: it does not come with any t-discs so buy some when you purchase your machine. Also, this model is less expensive because it does not have a water purifying system in it, and the 1400 does. I have been filling it with water from my refrigerator purifying system, but that it not necessary. An advantage to this is that the 1200 takes up a little bit less room. I love the cappucino..tastes like the real thing to me.It took a while to get the hang of using it, but now I can't wait until someone wants a Tassimo drink so I can make it. Don't know what the future holds with this, as it is my brand new toy. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for 1 Cup
Overall I have been happy with it.I normally only brew 1 cup so I don't have the problems with uneven distribution. My only complaint is that the coffee isn't quite hot enough. I don't use the cups that came with the coffer maker, they are mediocre. I recommend getting different cup.A good Thermos (Nissan) brand cup works great and keeps the coffee hot for hours.

3-0 out of 5 stars good for one cup

4-0 out of 5 stars It fits my need
I was deciding whether to get this 2 cups coffeemaker or the french press, since only 2 people in the household drink coffee. After reviewing the two kinds, I bought this unit. It does its job well. Other than it takes up counter space, it is very easy to operate. My only complaint was there was a tiny chip on the unit when I received it-however it does not affect the operation at all. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Not So Good
I bought this coffee maker because of its compact size, but returned it a week later. I found it very difficult to avoid spillage when pouring the water into the coffee maker AND the coffee into a cup. The problem was worse if making more than 4 cups.
4-0 out of 5 stars This little coffeemaker does just what it's supposed to do.
Other reviewers have complained about spillage or dripping with this product.I didn't encounter these problems. This is a small coffeemaker! It only makes five, 5-oz cups of coffee. If you make a full 25-oz pot and then move it quickly, you'll spill some coffee. The same goes for filling the water chamber to make coffee. If, on the other hand, you realize you're dealing with a small, full pot and act accordingly, you won't have any problems. It does exactly what it's supposed to do.It makes small amounts of good coffee quickly and easily. For under $15, what more can you ask for.

Editorial Review

By eliminating the usual fuss and mess, this 1,200-watt machine makes it easy to brew espresso and make cappuccinos and lattes at home or in the office. It's semiautomatic because all that's required is to fill the water tank, place ground coffee into a receptacle, and pull a lever. Within seconds coffee flows from the double spout, which adjusts for different cup heights, into one or two cups. No tamping is required because the machine tamps the coffee precisely and automatically. Nor is it necessary to clean used coffee grounds out of a messy filter holder, because there is no filter holder, and the machine automatically discards grounds into a waste tray. The tray also catches overflows, and a light shows when it needs emptying.Read more

  • Steaming wand froths milk for cappuccinos and caffe lattes

5-0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised
My wife and I have had our Ultima for about 6 months. We're very pleased. It worked fine with my original blade grinder and very well with a burr grinder (I use the Capresso 560.01 which works well too). We get consistent, excellent results on our daily cappuccino and crema coffee (our drinks of choice).

Makes excellent espresso/crema.So much cleaner and easier to use than traditional espresso machines and I do not need the additional automatic features of the more expensive Jura machines. My only complaint is that it isn't a sleek/attractive appliance. But the espresso doesn't disappoint and I am totally pleased with the machine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beats our old Starbucks brewers, hands down!
Flavor is great. Pot beeps when coffee is ready; beeps when it shuts off the heating element too! Coffee ground issue is, I'm sure, related to the brass/plastic basket that comes with the pot. If you overfill the basket with gounds, they do get in the water. However, if you use a paper filter with the same amount of grounds , it works fine. Poorly engineered ground basket. If you want a brass basket, purchase a third party one. We also have the KA coffee grinder which is better than any I've owned, including the Braun and Starbucks which both died an early and untimely death. KA appliances still going strong after more than a year.

2-0 out of 5 stars Looks Great - Tastes Mediocre
I'm usually a big fan of KitchenAid appliances and I own a Proline coffee grinder, which is excellent. But, I could not get a good full-flavored cup of coffeee out of this machine. 5-0 out of 5 stars Many years of Great Coffee with a Bunn!!!!!!
This is our third Bunn. I had one that lasted over 7 years, I replaced it with a newer model we had for 6 years and have now replaced it with this one for the color scheme in our new home... nothing wrong with the old one, in fact I gave it to my in-laws and they are just as happy with it as we are. We make 1-2 pots of coffee a day and we are spoiled by the 3 minute wait for a hot cup of coffee. Bunn is a great company to deal with as well, we had lost the cleaning tool one time and I called to get a new one...they shipped one promptly free of charge no questions asked. As for he machine being "on" all the time, this is a misconception, the machine turns on and off when the water temp drops below the set temperature, so it is not constantly on...This is the best feature of the machine because if the power goes out you can still make a hot pot of coffee...So if you want a great fast cup of coffee from a quality machine by makers that stand behind their product...Bunn is the one for you!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Consistently Good Coffee
The main purpose of my acquisition of the Bunn NHB was the continuance of my tireless search for a coffee maker that will consistently make excellent coffee with minimum effort.Simply stated, I wanted the taste to complement the smell of freshly ground coffee beans.I think my search has ended.
5-0 out of 5 stars Coffee Lover's Dream
In our house the pot is always on! After years of just about every brand known to man from the cheapest to deluxe I think I've found the best. Quality is evident in the construction and function and performance far better than the last machine I paid a lot more for! The only holdback I would have is for those who make only a pot a day...I'm not sure you really need a coffee maker that effectively stays "on" all the time to keep the water hot and ready for the next fresh, delicious cup. That being said, I highly recommend this product. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars get a grip, fragile carafe, choose carafe first then machine!!
I got this coffee maker for ten dollars at a local grocery store. It has no problem making coffee the problem and there are several have to do with getting a grip on it. There are no edges or angles to grip it, the spots that do 'lend' themselves are hot. So removing the carafe, or installing it is just plain awkward. The carafe is so fragile that it will spontaneously disintegrate in the dishwasher. So be ready to purchase an endless round of carafes periodically. Our carafe first got a little lip chip on the pouring spout, four days later and four uses later a larger piece popped out of the side making it useless. Bummer at 6am. Because of the type of carafe and coffee maker it appears it must be replaced with OEM carafe. This ten dollar coffee maker is heading towards costing a fortune over time. (btw we were very careful how we placed it in the dishwasher.)My next coffee maker will take the most inexpensive replacement carafe, (metal??) i can find on the discount store shelf. I will then buy a machine that takes THAT carafe (and is approved by Cons. Reports).

5-0 out of 5 stars Does a coffee maker really have to be expensive?
Hello,
1-0 out of 5 stars This Thing Is Dangerous!
I was using this machine about the 5th or 6th time, and the auto-drip-stop function would not line up properly causing the basket to fill and overflow with hot coffee.I attempted to adjust the carafe and the basket. The basket immediately tipped forward and dumped the hot coffee all over my hand.Ouch.If this had a swing-out basket, this wouldn't have happened.

Indulge your personal taste with this handy little French press coffeemaker. Use it at home or take it along to office or school and brew coffee precisely as you like it rather than settling for what you get out of the machine (shudder). Compact (7-1/2 inches high), for carrying in purse, briefcase, or backpack, but sturdy, it's made of tempered glass and durable plastic, with stainless-steel press and bands. A big handle facilitates pouring through its pert little spout. Rinse it out or run it through the dishwasher. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Capresso treated me right
I had a C1000 that had a recall - they offered to fix it or sell me the E8 for half price.
1-0 out of 5 stars Not a reliable machine
We've had this for about one month, used it twice a day (two espresso drinkers in the house) and it's now starting to fail once a day. The machine will fail for a couple of attempts, ask you to open and close the tap, and evenutally work correctly. The espresso tastes great, but it's not worth the headache of using up beans on failed attempts. For this much money, you'd think they would have worked out the kinks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Earlier reviewer didn't know how easy it is to fix....
The reviewer from '04 that was having problems didn't know about a super easy fix...all he had to do was call the 800 number and they'd walk him thru the relatively simple, 1 minute cleaning procedure. My S8 machine was doing the exact same thing, and they halped me out without any problems. Capresso has been great. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Loud & Messy!
The machine makes fine tasting coffee but there the good qualities end.It will awaken everyone in the house with the LOUD beeping as it announces 'the brewing is complete'.So much for a few minutes peace. And to pour the coffee you have two choices:break your thumb pushing the release button as the coffee drips out slower than a tinkle or take off the lid and watch the coffee pour all over your counter- it is impossible to pour this stuff in quickly and neatly!I'm going to buy a replacement and send this one off to a yard sale!

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC coffeemaker!!
I bought this even after reading about it "leaking" because I had had a Mr. Coffee before.I found that it "leaks" only if it is filled above the line.Once that is grasped, it is an excellent coffee maker AND the thermos keeps it hot without needing to keep the maker on.I would definitely recommend this one!I have tried MANY others even more expensive.Just don't overfill it and you'll be more than satisfied.

1-0 out of 5 stars Have used it 12 times, successful 5.
This coffee maker is the worst I have ever had.If you don't set the filter cup in "just so", the pause-and-serve gets tripped, and you get coffee everywhere. If you manage to get the filter cup in correctly, the paper filter collapses. If you manage to get through those obstacles - I had to do it three times this morning - the carafe only keeps the coffee lukewarm. It's going back in the box as soon as it has dried out, and back to the store for a refund. ... Equipped with hard burrs that grind beans more uniformly andwithout the flavor-destroying heat generated by blade grinders, thiscoffee mill makes preparing fresh coffee simple. It has preprogrammedbuttons for grinding enough to brew 4, 8, 10, or 12 cups and a dial forselecting one of 18 grind consistencies, from very coarse to very finefor espresso. The bean chamber holds 8 ounces, enough for about 36five-ounce cups. When the selected amount of beans is ground, the millshuts off automatically. A transparent plastic container snaps into themill's front to catch up to 8 ounces of ground coffee. It has a snap-onlid so it can store either ground coffee or beans. For easy cleaning, the grinding wheel twists out. The 120-watt mill measures 5 incheswide, 9 inches high, and 6-1/2 inches deep. It's clad in hard, brightplastic, has push-in cord storage, and carries a one-year warrantyagainst defects. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Grinds fairly well
This is a good product for the money.A little messy occasionally, but for the most part, it functions as you'd expect with minimal effort. My grandson has much fun turning the coffee from beans to "squash", as he says.I'd recommend this grinder for the daily coffee drinker!

1-0 out of 5 stars bad design, bad performance
This is a poorly designed mill, cheaply manufactured. The grinding mechanism is easily clogged but difficult to disassemble for cleaning. The port into the hopper is too small and must be frequently unblocked. The hopper consistently develops excess static, causing large amounts of coffee to stick; it is badly positioned and fits loosely, guaranteeing a mess to clean up every time the mill is used. After four months of annoying service, the cheap circuit board attached to the power switch broke loose, finally ending the suffering. A nut chopper would work better.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a dissappointing experience!!!
I purchased the Melitta Mill in April, it's now July and the thing is shot.We used it daily to grind 2 tablespoons of coffee, first the switches stuck and then we had to plug and unplug it to run the thing.Sure it was inexpensive, but you should get more than three months out of the purchase.$6+ a month just to grind coffee?Don't buy this poorly constructed product. ...
