Great coffeemaker
I'm just hooked up the new A40 yesterday so this review may change after further use.You have to prime the machine before first use and when I did that it leaked horribly.I then made a cup of coffee, no leaking at all.When I made my first cup this morning, leaked badly again.Just made another cup, no leaking.I'll give it over the long weekend and see how it goes.If it still leaks, I'll exchange it and update this review after I get the new one as I may have just gotten a lemon.For now though, 2 stars is all I can give.When it doesn't leak, it's a gem.

High end maker for high end coffee
This is a perfect coffee maker. Beans lose their flavor within 20 minutes after grinding, so the grinding and making is perfect. I have read other peoples reviews and totally disagreeThis is the best coffee maker ever. There is a learning curve, true. The first couple of pots I didn't quite get it all together, but since then, it makes the best coffee. One caution....... you have to use high grade coffee beans to get high grade coffee. If you use the cheap Arabica beans, you'll get lousy coffee with this maker. For example: Use 100% pure Kona coffee or Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. Cheap coffee in a a high class maker...... DOH!!!Use the best coffee available and you won't be disapointed. This coffee maker is NOT for amatures!!

Convenient, A Little Extra Work Is Necessary
We received this coffeemaker as a wedding gift, have used it at least once daily for almost a year, and won't go back to anything else. Sure, it takes a bit of extra work to keep it clean, but we really think it's worth it. Other reviewers have mentioned steam traveling up the grinder chute and creating a sludge in the grinder. By then the grounds are in the filter during brewing anyway, and it just takes some warm water and paper towel to wipe down the insides afterward. As to the flavor it definitely depends on the beans you choose. Right now I'm drinking old-fashioned Eight-O-Clock coffee this coffeemaker ground and brewed for us this morning. But there are better beans in the cupboard if I want to use them. Don't like the grind size for some sessions? Want to use Folgers? A $20 grinder will solve the grind size issue, and the grinder can be shut off so you can use pre-ground coffee. As to the noise, unless you sleep in the kitchen or sleep with the bedroom door open, it's really nothing to worry about. Kinda fun though ... it does scare the bejeepers out of cats and in-laws! We did check the thermal carafe once on a trip and the coffee was still hot six hours after brewing. To sum up, if you're a "coffee elitist", no, you probably won't like it, just like you won't like a Mr. Coffee coffeemaker. But if you're a normal everyday coffee drinker, this, and it's non-thermal smaller brother, is your high-end machine. Just break out the elbow grease when resetting it.

Thanks, but NO Thanks
I looked for a coffee maker that included a grinder for quite a while and was excited to see that Cuisinart had that combination.Unfortunately, I'm very disappointed in the product.It is very difficult to see down into the well how much water you've added when making 1-4 cups of coffee - there is no external water line.You cannot select the grind of coffee - it's all one grind.That would normally be ok since you usually use that grind for an automatic coffeemaker.However, there are times when I have a bold bean that I'd like to grind the coffee a little more coarsely.It can sometimes be challenging getting the accessories to sit just right in theirrespective locations, at least on my pot.This is especially true for the basket.I frequently find a few coffee grinds in my cup. I am particularly disappointed in how long the coffee stays hot - or I should say how long it doesn't stay hot.It's better when you make coffee on demand and warm up the pot with hot water before making the coffee, but it still doesn't keep it warm for hours.It isn't possible to warm the pot before making coffee if you're using the timer. To top everything off, they didn't even include a filter with the new pot.If I knew then what I know now, I would not selected this coffeemaker.I would not recommend this product to anyone and I'd take back my Krups anytime. ... Great - except for the spout
This is my eighth pod coffee machine!I started with the Black and Decker Home Cafe and after returning four of those due to leaking pod compartments, I tried the Senseo, but hated the foam, the coffee was weak, and the machine's configuration made it impossible to use a travel mug.

I got this coffeemaker as a gift and it is fantastic.The priming part was pretty easy and then I just started to use it.Since, I don't ever need to make a carafe full of coffeeI always end up pouring most of my coffee down the drain.But with this Mr. Coffee, I don't waste a thing.I can have my cup of decaf then a French Vanilla then later follow up with a nice tall mug of Cappuccino.I really like the variety of drinks that I can make throughout the day. Can you imagine going to Starbucks 3 or 4 times a day?How expensive is that? I'm sticking with my Mr. Coffee

Not for everyone
Well I had really high hopes when I got this for Christmas... and even before I tried it for the first time I read through all of these ratings and followed what many were saying are the 'tricks'. I have had it now for over half a year and tried to use it probably about 10 times and have yet to get a pot to brew correctly. Every single time to filter clogs, not allowing but only 1/4 or so of the coffee to come back down. I have set my coffee grinder to max coarse all these times, and no I dont store my beans in freezer or refigerator. I make sure the rubber seal is seated good and I have also tried overfilling the lower carafe with water per suggestion here. I have also put it back on the heat momentarily to try to unclog it, but it still will only drain down maybe an inch at most after removing.
Where do I start...
I purchased this unit a few weeks ago, and it's been trouble ever since.I think I managed to get one decent cup of coffee out of it, but not as good as my old fashioned percolator.
Great Tasting Coffee!
Because this coffeemaker was unavailable for a while I was waiting for it with some anticipation. My patience was well rewarded with some fine tasting cups of coffee!

I LIKE it.
I've discovered if I wet the infuser just before adding the teathe smaller particles expand and less tea "dust" falls through.This infuser is easy to clean and has a nice appearance.It can be used in either a single cup or in any teapot (of course you need to adjust the quantity of tea leaves).

best for whole leaf teas
I wanted an infuser that would allow me to make a single mug of loose leaf tea at home.This item pretty much works as expected.But the holes in the side of the infuser are rather large--about 1mm.For whole leaf loose teas, that is not a problem.But for many other teas, it allows quite a bit of tea through.

Meets my needs
I like 2 or 3 cups of hot coffee in the morning only.I like to hear the percolator and smell the coffee.The size is right for me, the coffee is excellent, and I like the shape of the pot.The electrical parts work fine. I recomend it; if you want a small amount of good coffee.

I hadn't used an old-fashioned percolator-type coffee maker for many, many years. I mainly bought this one to take on a cruise (cruise ship coffee is undrinkable sludge)and gave it a couple of dry runs over the weekend. My wife really wanted this.My Brother's wife had one and said it was easier to clean up than a regular sized coffee pot.Most reviews talk about problems when using the two travel mugs.So did we.Turns out that the two spouts totally rely on the coffee maker to be perfectly level side to side.Here is the trick to make it work.Pick a permanent place for the machine to sit. Put two paper cups so they each get filled from one side of the spout.Slowly, slowly pour water with the filter removed into the basket where the filter goes.When one of the cups is getting full, stop.The full cup side is too low.I just put a couple pieces of scotch tape on the two rubber feet on the bottom of that side. Repeat and adjust by adding tape.Took two tries and they filled perfectly evenly.Thats the secret to get this machine to work.Otherwise, it seems to be a handy machine. ... Read more

We bought this filter today because the package said it would fit every #4 cone style coffee maker on the market.Well, it doesn't.We own a Kitchenaid, and it didn't fit ours.I'm sure this would be a great filter if we had the right kind of machine.

Top clear PLASTIC knob top melts...
Great pot ~ except for the clear PLASTIC knob on top.After two or three uses, the base of the knob melts during percolation and the knob cannot be used any longer.I contacted FARBERWARE Corporation for a glass replacement, but they do not offer one.Generic glass percolator tops do not fit.Purchased new plastic replacement tops from Farberware, but the same thing happened.That is the BIGGEST drawback with this percolator.Could be a potentially dangerous item.Top can come off while pouring coffee and someone could get scalded.Farberware didn't stand behind their product when I informed them of the problem.

Great coffee maker
I can readily reccommend the Krups Coffee maker.This my second in 10 years.It is easy to fill with water, the controls are straightforward, it does not leak water and is just a fine coffee maker.

Krups Catastrophe
I thought this would be a top of the line product.It is poorly made.The filter holder broke the first week where the spring attaches at the top.The top gets hot and causes it not to fit properly making it virtually impossible to repair.I had to use tape across the top to hold it down so that it would keep the filter holder in place.I can't tell you how many times it would fall out, spilling coffee grounds everywhere!I have tried to contact Krups, but cannot get through to their website.I threw it away yesterday and bought another Mr. Coffee!

I too replaced a wonderful Krups 12 cup coffee maker we had for many years after its recent death from old age.So we bought a FRM2 and it proceeded to leak all over the counter. We figured that the leak had to be a unique problem (We should have heeded an earlier review) and traded for another new one.This one leaked just as badly and for a bonus, the program wouldn't set properly.I have now purchased a Cuisinart DCC-1000 at a comparabele price.It is in my opinion a much sturdier machine ... Makes a good cup of coffee
If you want a small percolator, one that makes up to 6 cups, this pot does a good job. The only problem I have with it is that you have to be carefull when cleaning. The edge of the pot is sharp. If you are aware of this and take care when cleaning, you shouldn't have a problem. All in all, it is a good percolator at a good price. ... Read more

Great press, but the new plunger sucks
The Bodum presses are great.I ordered this one to replace on old one that broke and had long had a damaged handle.I'm glad I kept my old lid/plunger, though, because it seems to work much better than the new one, which seems to have been modified by a committee of corporate lawyers.The new lid is great, but the plunger doesn't seem to go as far down (to prevent me from scalding myself should I be too vigorous, one would presume), and my coffee tasted sour.After a week of that, I switched back to the old lid/plunger--it makes much better coffee.

The best cup of coffee ever...
I LOVE my French Press.Coffee tastes so much better when made with a French Press, and this one is super-easy to use.Just add a few scoops of coffee, some hot water, let it sit for a few minutes, and voila! coffee!It's the perfect size for 1-2 cups of coffee.The only improvement would be a rubber/no-slip bottom but there are other versions that have this feature.If you're looking for your first FP, this is the one to get! You won't go back to drip coffee...
