Editorial Review

This electric food chopper accomplishes a food processor's principal function of chopping and mincing without having to haul out the big machine. It's just 8 inches high and 4-3/4 inches in diameter, and its 3-cup bowl is ample for many chores in a family household and most chores in a one or two-person household. At 150 watts, the motor is powerful enough to chop or mince vegetables, fruits, herbs, cheese, nuts, chocolate, cooked meats, and bread. The power head has a soft grip for easy one-handed use. The rugged, plastic bowl; its slip-resistant base, which doubles as the bowl's lid for storing food; and the stainless-steel blade are all dishwasher-safe. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm buying more of these for presents.
This is the best chopper. I have a small food processor and a large food processor.I have purchased those handheld types that you pound up and down.I've went through several of those, because they are handy.Well this one is just as handy. It cleans up so easily.I don't have to twist parts to lock in place, just place the top over the non-skid bottom and BOOM! Your chopping. It doesn't mush your food either, it chops!

5-0 out of 5 stars Everyone I know is getting one of these for Christmas
I love this thing!
5-0 out of 5 stars Great little chopper!!!
I just received my food chopper on today and immediately washed it out in some Dawn w/bleach detergent.I followed the directions as to how to prepare my veggies before putting them into the chopper and didn't have any problems whatsoever.I chopped up some celery, scallions and one hard-boiled egg to add to canned tuna and canned turkey. Then, I spooned the chopped mixture into separate bowls with one tablespoon of Hellman's mayo, 2 teaspoons of sweet relish and a few sprinkles of black pepper.I put this over some lettuce and it was very tasty!!! I love this little product and I'm very happy that I purchased it when I did.It will definitely make my life in the kitchen alot easier and healthier!!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Proctor Silex Food Chopper
My second one.Perfect for that small chopping job.Makes chicken salad, turkey salad, egg salad, ham salad, shrimp salad and tuna salad sandwiches tast better being ground up finer than cutting with a knife.

5-0 out of 5 stars a very convenient food processor
I got this food processor in order to make pesto sauce.I'm sure it will work will salsa and bruschetta, as well. It's the perfect size, dishwasher safe (blade, cup, and lid), and it chops very cleanly. It's so easy to use and store since it's so small. For making just a little bit of pesto, maybe just a quarter cup, it would really be annoying to have to take out and clean a larger food processor. But this food chopper is the perfect size for such a small amount...or anything up to 1 cup, 1 1/2 cups really.I'm really glad I bought this...and it was just the right price. No need to get a larger, clumsy, and more expensive larger food processor that won't get used as often.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
It's fast to use. I can chop half an onion (or more if I wanted), which is exactly what I need for one day.I can mix fruits and yogurt for a dessert for me. I used to use it to pure food for my baby.

Work smarter, not harder with Progressive International's helpful onion chopper. Just slice an onion in two, set half on the stainless-steel blade, then close the hinged plastic lid. Voila! Dice onions without all the mess, odor, or time-consuming cleanup. The reinforced storage container is clear so it's easy to see how much you've chopped, and measurements up to two cups are printed on the sides. The compact tool stands on four round feet that keep it secure on the countertop or table. When the top is closed, the blade is protected and safely away from a busy chef's hands. This chopper stores easily in a drawer and comes with a tool to clean the lid easily.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Its a Rip off!
I wanted to have an onion cutter that would make my life easier. after buyingthis i found that it was tough to use. I had to apply all my body weight to cut onion. 2nd day , it broke.
4-0 out of 5 stars ItWorks Well - So Far
My family makes and freezes four huge pots of spaghetti sauce every 3 or 4 months. The recipe calls for 3 large white onions to be chopped up for each pot - the most time consuming part of the ingredient prep phase. For the last batch we made, my wife pulled out this onion chopping device and said "try this". I was skeptical but willing to try anything to avoid chopping up 12 large onions. Well, it worked. I estimate it cut my chopping time in half. I thought I had broken it several times, since you really have to muscle the onion pieces through the blades, which causes a loud bang when the lid closes, but it didn't break.
1-0 out of 5 stars Buy a good knife!
When I saw this chopper I thought it was a very good idea. It was a good idea if it had only worked as Progressive described it, or if I was 6 ft tall and worked out all the time. I have had to put this gadget on the floor and step on it with my heel to cut even a small section of a small onion through the not very sharp blade. There seems to be inconsistancies as to how sharp the blade is which tells me that there was very poor quality control in the manufacturing of this chopper. There appears to be no middle ground in the reviews. Are we all talking about the same chopper? If you have to cut the veggies into small pieces to make this work, why not just continue cutting with a high quality knife. It's just as fast if you practice a little slicing, dicing and chopping. The amount of time to clean my knife is much less than how long it takes me to clean out the little pieces of onion that stick in the blade and the plastic top! Also, the little non-skid covers on the feet have disappeared, probably into the bottom of my dishwasher.A waste of $15.00. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Works great while it works
This product does an excellent job of chopping everything from nuts to cheese. But, after only a year and a half of light use, it quit working. The blades still spin, but it no longer is capable of chopping anything. So, unless you are fascinated by spinning blades, it is useless. Not a good life cycle for an appliance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice chopper
This cute chopper is a big help to me. It makes fast and fine chopping-up and saves a lot of time for me. It's a little bit small and contains only "pulse chopping" control. However, I found it easy and convenient to use, and is sufficient for single or couple family use.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best

1-0 out of 5 stars Not a good chopper!
Again, another KitchenAid product I got hoping for quality (because it's KitchenAid, it SHOULD be QUALITY!) and thouroughly dissapointed. It really is hard to take apart and put together and does a very poor job with the actual chopping, which is what is it's only function. My Mom has the original Pampered Chef chopper and it's a dream! I was hoping this one would be just as good. It's not. Do not buy!

1-0 out of 5 stars Junk
This chopper does a poor job, with a fine line between chopping and pulverizing, and takes way too much effort to chop a reasonable portion of most vegetables.
3-0 out of 5 stars So-so, I suppose
I had high hopes for this product. It's definatly not as good as I expected. I had one of these years ago from some no-name company and it worked great. After years of use and abuse, it finally broke. So I replaced it with this, thinking it would be better because it's KitchenAid. This is difficult to take apart after using-I feel like I'm going to break it. It doesn't hold very much. It's also a pain to clean, almost impossible if you don't clean it IMMEDIATLY after you use it. I used mine to chop garlic about 2 months ago and it smells like it still. In my opinion, it's just easier to use a knife. ... Read more

The actual mezzaluna is a very good piece for many uses. The cutting bowl is a nice touch but not very practical.Mezzaluna works better with a regular cutting bowl.Overall a very good product!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for
This looks like it's going to be a much used and loved item for making salads and cooking with herbs. I find the solidly built quality excellent and the size and weight of it just right. I'm glad the bowl in the wooden block is large enough to accomodate lots of herbs and that there are little "feet" on the bottom so it won't slip around. Can't wait to grow some more herbs this summer for mincing up. The knife and board also are quite a work of art in their own right.

5-0 out of 5 stars For 10 bucks, works great for what I ask of it, I like it.
I have had this item now for about 5 years, and I like it.I use it the most if I am making Chili and want to chop up peppers and onions. Can be helpful with making salsa as well.Even homeade relish.I have also used it to chop nuts up for cookies etc.For $10, well worth it, save a ton of chopping time. I have not had any issue with dullness of the blades all this time, so unless you are grinding rocks, shouldn't be a problem. I have never tired ice, but this maching is a little small for that, just use the blender.Handy little machine.

Editorial Review

A handy gadget for cooks short on time, the Chef'n Rev'n Chef herb processor uses a spinning blade and a pull string to chop fresh herbs and other flavorful ingredients. Though neither as direct nor as powerful as a chef's knife, the processor is easy to use and fairly versatile. It works best on soft leaf herbs like basil, parsley, and cilantro, and can also be used to bruise rosemary or sage. The blade is sharp enough to chop garlic, shallots, and small amounts of onions, which minimizes lingering smells on your hands. Chef'n also includes a blunt paddle for peeling garlic, emulsifying dressings, and whipping eggs. Operated with simple hand power--no batteries or cords--the device is easy to tote from prep table to stove. It washes up in the top rack of the dishwasher, measures 4-1/2 by 4 by 2-3/4 inches, and comes with a simple set of starter recipes. A bonus switchblade-style vegetable peeler is also included. • Dishwasher-safe for easy clean up

2-0 out of 5 stars Good for making a mushy mess
I have a mini-cuisinart and a full sized one, but since I received this herb processor as a gift, I thought I'd give it a shot. Well, after a day of trying to chop herbs and mince garlic with it, I'd rather spend the extra time setting up and cleaning the mini-cuisinart. I found that most of the time, this herb processor just mashes everything up, or crushes it, no matter what blade I use. Juices from the herbs or garlic just leak out, weakening their overall flavor and limiting their usefulness. If I need to quickly chop some herbs, I'd rather just do it by hand or by cuisinart.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not sure I'd waste my money again...
This is a tough gadget to like very much, but at the same time there are a few times it comes in handy.First of all, I'd never use it for certain things like mincing garlic, or chopping certain herbs like rosemary, as this thing just isn't tough enough for that. The item claims that you flip the blade one way for peeling garlic then the other way for mincing. Are you kidding?I could have the garlic sauteing in oil before the garlic would be peeled in this thing. And rosemary is either too tough too small ????as I spent about 2 minutes of tugging the cord with about 10% of all rosemary leaves with a single cut!!!Just doesn't work that well on that stuff.5-0 out of 5 stars Little gem!
I love my Rev'n Chef.I use it nearly every day.You can chop your onions without tears, mince garlic without smelly hands, mix together herbs and then blend the olive oil/vinegar for a perfect quick salad dressing.FANTASTIC.You can also use the rubbery blade for blending or whipping.I use it to mix up my eggs and it makes the eggs perfectly fluffy.Just open it up, pop the contents in your pan and you're good to go.Then rinse the sucker out or put it in the dishwasher. You can even take it camping!Zippy and cool. ... This chopper from Zyliss will make quick work of most small and medium chopping tasks, and, thanks to the unique comfort top, it won't bruise hands if lots of chopping is being done. The chopper stands 10-1/2 inches tall, with a 3-1/2-inch base, and is constructed of sturdy plastic and stainless steel, with a stainless-steel chopping blade. It's easy to use--just place the food in the base container and position the chopper snugly in the base. Then tap the top a few times until food is the desired size. The rustproof, stainless-steel blade rotates automatically after each tap. Since the chopping is contained in the base, the amount of mess is minimal. Also, the 1-cup base container comes with a lid for easy storing of chopped food. For simple cleanup, the sides of the chopper are hinged and the whole thing can go into the dishwasher. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Zyliss food chopper
I have an older model of this and love it - much easier and quicker than setting up the cuisinart, especially for small jobs. I bought this one to give as a housewarming gift to an aewsome cook!

2-0 out of 5 stars yes, it chops, but not good with cleanup.
I was initially excited to use this product for chopping, but was disappointed with it in the end. (Luckily it was just a gift.) It does chop up items, but not without equalor greater effort that you might use to cut things on a cutting board. I tried to use walnuts, and they become lodged up in the blades. I honestly can't wedge them out now, so it's not easy to clean. A better option for efficient chopping: get a ulu (cutting board and knife/blade)and you can cut things quickly because you don't have to hold them and cleanup is easy.

5-0 out of 5 stars probably the most used gadget in my kitchen
I have had a lot of different choppers and not been pleased with any. This is the BEST! I use it daily, from garlic to onions to nuts.. you name it.. it goes in there. When I'm done I disassemble and throw it in the dishwasher. I have two and have not had a problem with either. If you want things in big chunks, you only press the plunger a couple times.. really fine, keep going. It does a wonderful job and no kitchen, in my opinion, should be without one. ... Read more

Editorial Review

This aesthetically pleasing herb-chopping bowl is perfectly designed for its function. The slightly scooped bowl holds a handful of fresh herbs while you gently rock the curved mezzaluna ("half-moon") blade to chop them to the desired fineness. The matching curves of bowl and knife work perfectly to turn what can be a tedious task into a pleasing one. The modest size of the bowl (9-1/2 inches square) means that it's easy to pick up to add the herbs to your cooking. Don't be tempted to wash the bowl or blade in the dishwasher: the natural wood and oil finish require careful cleaning by hand with a mild soap. (Other extremes of moisture and temperature should also be avoided.) The bowl can be easily stored on its side, but it's so handsome, you may want to keep it out. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Chopping Made Fun
I use a lot of fresh herbs in my cooking, but I have always hated cutting them up.With this wonderful chopper set I actually look forward to chopping herbs. It is so easy!It certainly validates the theory that one should have the right tool for the job.

5-0 out of 5 stars a must have for herb gardeners!
I bought this for my husband (the chef in our home) last year and he still raves about it.We use a lot of fresh herbs in our cooking, and this tool has made it much easier to mince them *safely*.It cleans up easily and looks great too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Chopping herbs has never been easier
I saw this exact Mezzaluna chopper in an article about herbs in a recent issue of Cooking Light. It seemed to be the perfect alternative to chopping herbs on a flat surface. With the Mezzaluna you don't have to keep gathering the chopped herbs back to the center of the board, they fall back to the center naturally.Your fingers aren't in danger of being chopped off in the process either, because you don't have to hold the herbs while you chop.Just rock the *very sharp* curved blade over the herbs. Achieving "minced" has never been easier, or faster. This chopper is of *excellent* quality, and worth the price! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars cleaning andchopping
Just bought the professsional salad shooter and it is wonderful. Ithas changed our diet because it is now so easy and quick to shred and slice. But how does one deal with those pesty stains that appear on the parts after you grate carrots. And how would you chop onions

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE Kitchen Appliance
We bought this when it first came out.We used it several times a week, and just LOVED it.We lost some of the pieces when we moved, so I'm in the market for another one. It's so easy to use, and to clean. The blades store neatly, and stack inside of each other. We just love everything about it! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Neat little chopper
Easy to wash, nice sharp blades. The blades are a little hard to clean safely when bits get caught, but mostly it just washes out in water. Chopping isn't that even but it does a good job if you keep shaking between the chopping. Does a great job with nuts and hard things, not quite so good with softer things (like bell pepper). Overall, well worth the cost.

3-0 out of 5 stars Does the job, not great
This food chopper would be good if it works as it is supposed to do. Without any food in it, the chopper will turn 1/8 rotation at evey chop as featured. But once any food is placed, it becomes difficult to push it down, as the blades are not very sharp. Moreover, it does not turn most of the times. I had to carefully half press it sometimes, in order to make it turn. Hence, if I am not careful, the food (I use it to mince garlic most of the times) remains as very big pieces, as the blades have cut it in only one or two places.

3-0 out of 5 stars Cheap
I haven't used any more expensive choppers to compare this to, but I've noticed I really have to slam on this one to get it to do much chopping- the blade was pretty dull from the start. It's not as easy to clean as they advertise- if you just wanted to clean one piece, the whole thing pops apart.I don't use it too often because of the cleaning, but it is more convenient to use than my mini-food processor for small jobs, and faster at mincing than a knife.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dull Dull Blades
A friend of mine had a similar chopper from a expensive kitchen supplies store and it worked well.I bought "Quick Chop" and was extensively dissappointed. The blades so dull you have to slam the handle down to get it to cut anything. These choppers can be nifty, but go to a kitchen supply store and fork out the 25 bucks if you want one to work.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great - while it works
I loved this item for the first month I bought it.It could chop items as fine as you please in much less time. However, I can't get the blades to stay in the slots anymore. After about a month, the blades would come lose while chopping and would bend as a result. Now they won't stay in the slots at all, so its useless.I really love the idea, but need to find a better quality design before I'll buy another one. ...
