Editorial Review

This versatile cheese slicer glides through hard or semi-soft cheeses with ease and makes light work of creating cheese trays or hors d’oeuvres for a party. The slicer measures 7-3/4 inches from head to handle’s end and has a thick plastic handle with stainless-steel accents for more controlled movements. The head of the slicer has a 4-inch-wide wire and roller made of heavy-duty stainless steel, which is less likely to snap under pressure when cutting through heavier cheeses. For additional durability, the wire and roller are mounted to a sturdy fiberglass-reinforced nylon frame with cast bolsters. This professional-level slicer is dishwasher-safe for easier cleanup. KitchenAid offers a hassle-free replacement warranty on this slicer during the first year of ownership and a lifetime limited warranty on it thereafter. Read more

  • Elegant design for serving
  • Ideal for cutting soft and hard cheese

1-0 out of 5 stars Not good
The wire broke off as I was slicing my first slice of chedder cheese.Needless to say, I do NOT recommend this cheese slicer.Last I checked, they're supposed to last longer than one slice.Maybe mine was faulty...but regardless, I expect better.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works well
Cuts very easily. However, it's not easy to get that last half centimeter due to the shape of the part holding the wire. Not really a big deal, and a common problem to this style cheese slicer (only style I've never had this problem with is the paper-cutter-style cheese slicer...the one with the board and the hinged slicer).

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
A very multiuse tool. It cuts different kinds of cheese ina very smooth way. If you have a party, it's wonderful to prepare hors d'oeuvres. It cleans easily.

Editorial Review

Shaving off thin, even pieces of cheese with a knife can be a tricky. Hand-held cheese slicers designed to be drawn across a piece of cheese, make the task much easier. Trudeau's adjustable cheese slicer makes the job easier still, with a steel roller that creates a smooth slicing motion. The soft, rubber handle of this slicer also has a ridged thumb spot for a no-slip grip, and is slightly curved for extra leverage. Read more

Features

  • 7-1/2- by 4-3/4-inch, hand-held, adjustable, stainless steel cheese slicer
  • Steel harp, roller, and cutting wire; 2-tone gray rubberized handle with thumb grip
  • Simple spring-loaded roller; adjustable to 3 different slicing widths
  • Hand wash to prolong life of cutting wire; 1 replacement wire included

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Handheld Cheese Slicer
The Trudeau Adjustable Cheese Slicer is simply the best handheld cheese slicer I've ever used. It's ergonomic, sturdy, smoothly operating, easy to adjust and easy to clean.

3-0 out of 5 stars Had high hopes for this one....
I really liked it. It's a sturdy product with a great feel.Best one I've ever had until the wire broke. No problem!!It came with an extra wire. However,no one in my family can get the new wire in place! It appears to be a smidgen (very precise term of measurement....) too short.I get one little "cube" in place, but the other doesn't stretch far enough to get into its hole.My husband & I fiddled with it for a week.I wrote to the company, asking for help.I asked if there was a trick to using the replacement wire. I also expressed an interest in purchasing extra wires (to have on hand in case it breaks again). The instructions I received was a scan of the back of the packaging, telling me how to adjust the wire for different widths. *sigh*That wasn't the problem.I also found out that they do not sell replacement wires! You only get the one that comes with it.However I commend the company for their quick reply, and for their warranty. There is a 5 year warranty, and they will replace the entire slicer if both wires break. You do have to send in the "damaged" one.It really would be a whole lot simpler if they explained how to replace the wire, and offered additional wires (free or for a nominal fee) to their customers.

1-0 out of 5 stars OVER HYPED.
ACTUALLY I WOULD NOT RATE THIS ITEM WITH ANY STARS.

3-0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, But Not Adjustable...
This cheese slicer is great - if you like thick slices of cheese. If you want anything less than 1/8", good luck!Your hand will have to be more steady than mine, otherwise, you're stuck with thick slices of cheese. On the positive side, this item like Kitchenaid's other utensils is sturdy and easy to keep clean.Check the big box discounters, I saw this for $4.99 after buying it for $7.99.

4-0 out of 5 stars VERY SOLID CHEESE SLICER
To be honest, when i slice cheese I just prefer to use a good, old fashioned abd sharp Chef's knife.I've always hated the way cheese slicers leave that tiny bit of unsliced cheese at the bottom where the slicer does not go down all the way. That said i got this as a Christmas gift and it does a great job. It's good sized, feels comfortable in your hand and grips well.Best of all it's the favorite of the rest of the family who is not as comfortable around a chef's knife as I am.Nice item.Does it's job. ... This set of four replacement wires are for use with Chantal’s 10-1/2-inch wire cheese slicer. These wires are handy to keep in storage for backup. When the previous wire becomes dull, you can string a new one through the cheese slicer and tighten it until taut to continue to produce smooth, even slices of soft to medium-soft cheeses. The thin wire keeps soft cheeses from sticking as they would on a thicker knife. Like the kitchen tool they are intended for, these wires are dishwasher-safe. Read more

Great for hard and even semihard cheeses, this wire cheese slicer by Oxo cuts cheese thinner than knives can and without the added pressure on your hands. The stainless-steel wire ensures a thin slice, and the solid zinc construction is quite durable. The soft rubber nonslip handle absorbs the pressure slicing puts on your hands. It's perfect for placing next to the cheese board at your next party. Good Grips products are moderately priced and have won the Tylenol/Arthritis Foundation Design Award. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Only lasted a few times...
I was very disappointed with this cheese slicer--the wire broke after about the fourth use.I have always had good experiences with Oxo and was very surprised.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poorly made
After a few uses the wire stretches and then breaks. It is not repairable.Too bad, since they make other good products.

1-0 out of 5 stars Broke after about ten uses
The first couple of times I used this cheese slicer, the wire stretched out, making the slices thicker than they're supposed to be.Today I finally cut through a hard hunk of sharp cheddar and POP - the wire broke. For $20, I expect more.Next time I'll buy a non-wire cheese slicer.VERY disappointed as I expect more of OXO. ... 7. Prodyne Beechwood Cheese Slicer/Server Tray with Green Marble Inlay
by Prodyne
Kitchen
list price: $27.99
Asin: B00004S1DM
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France | Japan

Editorial Review

The lovely appearance of this cheese slicer and serving tray makes up for a minor design flaw: the wire is shorter than those on other models, making it difficult to cut larger blocks of cheese. But it looks marvelous--its beech wood base with gorgeous green marble inlay invites compliments. Also, the marble inlay keeps cheese cool, while the built-in stainless-steel cutting wire sinks easily into both hard and soft cheeses. The wire is replaceable and covered by a lifetime warranty against breakage. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great for me
My experience is markedly different than the other reviewers of this product.I have several different types of cheese cutters in my kitchen gadget drawer and find myself reaching for this more often than the others.I like the ability to change the thickness of the slices of cheese by rotating the handle in your palm to be an advantage.I also note that there is an adjustment for the cutting wire tension so that you can keep it tight over time.I will admit that my initial uses of the slicer were clumsy, but when used often this is a really cool tool.Perhaps it's not for everyone, but it's a keeper for me!

1-0 out of 5 stars Sleek looks but no performance
The wire broke after about three slices (of soft mozzarella), with no evident way to repair or replace it. Additionally, the stainless handle is too highly polished and easily becomes slippery. Leverage is not as good as the cheaper "T" shaped wire cutters. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Wires necessary
A hand held wire type of cheese slicer is great. Doesn't matter what cheese (soft or hard) this will slice through it without a problem, that is until the wire breaks rendering it useless. I recently ordered a Chantal model with extra wires (the wires are ordered separately under the description "Chantal Kitchen Tools Stainless Set/4 Replacement Wires for KG-CHS11 Wire Cheese Slicer") and found that these wires fit the WMF model. So now I have 2 working cheese slicers with extra wires. Make sure you order an ample supply of wires as they usually last a few months depending on your cheese usage.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best cheese slicer
For evenly sliced cheese, this is the easiest to use cheese slicer I've ever used. Its only drawback occurs when the cutting wire break, which it eventually does, because the only place I know of to get them is directly from a source in Germany. I wish Amazon would carry replacement wires as well as carry this cheese slicer again. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Would't cut cheese without it!
I have owned 3 of these cutters and love them. I have to keep buying them because my children want it, and don't want to wait for me to buy them one. So each one of my children take the one I am using. But when using the slicer you have to make sure the wire doesn't continue to rub on the side of the opening, where the wire goes down into the slot. This will break the wire quickly.I have been using one of these for about 15 years.

1-0 out of 5 stars And a 1 is being generous
Everything everyone said about this is true. I wish there had been reviews before I bought this thing. I think giving it one star is being rather generous. It will not cut anything but soft cheese. Do not buy!

1-0 out of 5 stars Cheese slicer doesn't cut the mustard
I wouldn't buy this product again or recommend it to others. The marble surface had a crack. When I washed it, a chunk fell out, revealing putty that had been used to hold it together. In other words, the company knowingly sold a defective product. ... Read more
