Editorial Review

This powerful home steam vacuum saves you the expense and hassle of having to rent a steam cleaner and keeps rugs, upholstery, and bare floors (other than hardwoods) looking like new. The powerful 12-amp motor combined with five spinning brushes that operate at either high or low speed lift the usual dirt and grime out of carpets. By pulling on the trigger in the comfortable upright handle, this deep cleaner releases the included carpet/upholstery cleaner and hot tap water. For more stubborn stains or for high-traffic areas, this SteamVac also has a Clean Surge feature, which sends an extra blast of cleaning solution into the stain by simply pressing a button on the handle. When cleaning is complete, release the trigger and the SteamVac forces hot air into the cleaning path so you can do a few dry strokes over the stain. This deep cleaner has two separate water tanks to keep clean water apart from dirty water. The top tank holds the detergent and 1 gallon of hot water and automatically mixes the two so you don’t need to get your hands wet. The lower tank holds the dirty solution picked up from the carpet and unlatches to easily pour out into a sink without spilling. Read more

Features

  • Powerful 12-amp motor; deep cleans with hot tap water and carpet solution
  • Five spinning/scrubbing brushes clean carpets, upholstery, bare floors
  • Clean Surge feature gives extra burst of cleaning solution for spots or stains
  • Two water tanks separate clean from dirty water
  • Brush rotation indicator; three attachments; 8-foot hose; 1-year warranty

5-0 out of 5 stars Pays for itself!
I have owned one of the original Hoover SteamVacs, (when they were about $300 or so) for about 7 years now.I imagine this one is upgraded a bit with the steam surge and all, but let me tell you, Hoover is the best.I did my research back then and all the Bissells got bad reviews. Not only that, but two friends of mine had Bissells that broke within a year.

Editorial Review

This lightweight (10-pound), 205-watt machine keeps a house spiffy in a myriad of ways. Snap scrub brushes onto its two power shafts and it scours hard floors. With three sets of pads, it will then wax, buff, and polish those same floors. In carpeted areas, snap on two shampoo brushes and get the carpets deeply clean. For floors that can be cleaned with water, and for carpets, a removable 1-gallon tank serves for mixing water and floor cleaner (a 16-ounce bottle is included) or water and rug-and-carpet shampoo (a 16-ounce bottle is included) that is then dispensed using a finger trigger. The machine is 43 inches high, has a handle hole for hanging in a closet, and assembles with a single nut and bolt (which are included). An accompanying booklet provides instructions for cleaning and polishing various hard floors and carpets by using different materials and methods. Hoover warrants the machine against defects for one year. Read more

  • Scrub and shampoo brushes and waxing, buffing, polishing pads included

i have only used it on tile floors and it works great, i haven't tried it on carpet yet.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Shampooer
Seems to do the job well.
4-0 out of 5 stars Floormax vs. Shale tile floor
Japannese Shale is a compressed layered floor tile of multicolors reds, yellows, browns and some black. it is laid in the same manner as Quarry tile joined at the edges with a light sand textured hydro type cement. It is a very attractive hard floor with a rough shale looking finish.

Editorial Review

Using a combination of hot tap water, Bissell deep cleaning formula, suction, and a powerful cross-action brush, this lightweight and versatile home cleaning system loosens and removes the ground-in dirt embedded deep in the fibers of rugs and carpets. Ideal for homes with children and pets, the QuickSteamer deep cleaner is also a boon to those with allergies or asthma, who find that vacuuming doesn’t sufficiently remove dust, dander, and other allergens from the home. Running on 4 amps of power and cleaning an 8-1/2 inch path, it also quickly and easily converts to a hard floor cleaner for added versatility.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is anOkay Rug Shampooer
It cost the same or less than what a professional rug cleaner would charge for one cleaning of a one bedroom apartment. No, it doesn't do as good a job as the pro steam cleaner; but it does do a good job. With this little Bissel Rug Shampooer you can keep your rugs cleaner on the average than if you made occasional use of professional cleaners.

1-0 out of 5 stars Medicore Performance with a Design Flop
I bought this unit. It has a medicore performance. However there's a design flop with the unit (wonder why Bissell sells a lot of remanufactured?). The clean water unit will tilt toward you when you engage the paddle to start the vacumming (the clean water unit is attached on the handle of the vacuum so when you engage the unit to start to vacuum, the handle will not stand 90 degree anymore and so does the clean water unit). When the clean water unit tilt toward you, the unit will not spray the cleaning solution. This is easily to fix such by putting the velcro/wire so the clean water unit will not tilt toward you when you engage the paddle to start vacuuming. But I am surprised a big company such as Bissell will create such a design flop. I have not decided whether I am going to keep this machine or not due to the design flop.
1-0 out of 5 stars Save your money; rent a real carpet cleaner!
This Bissell was a real piece of junk. I used it only twice, and was only able to clean two carpet runners, which took me as long to do as did cleaning all my carpets with a Rug Doctor. The major problem with the Bissell is its crummy gravity-fed solution delivery system - it works with plain water, but very soon clogs with bubbles when carpet cleaner is added to the tank - the whole point of the machine, right? I tried adding antifoam solution to the tank, enlargening the nozzle holes, enlargening the tank vent hole, but to no avail. The "scrubber brush" is practically useless, even after I added a small coil spring to help it push down on the carpets. The vacuum motor is pretty good, but it really doesn't have much to do when most of the cleaning solution just stays in the tank. The "lightweight" feature was great though; it made an easy job of throwing my Bissell into a dumpster, and the cheap plastic construction of this machine made a very satisfying smashing sound as it slammed into the back of that dumpster! ... With the Platinum Force carpet extractor from Dirt Devil, you don't have to settle for cleaning just the surface of your carpet.Dirt Devil's design ensures that cleaning solution gets deep into thenap of the carpet and then back out just as thoroughly. 1-0 out of 5 stars spotlifter or spot grinder?
I bought this product thinking that it would be better than the cordless spotlifter that I had previously owned. The "powerbrush" just grinds in the spot and water flow required to loosen the stain must be hand pumped a little squirt or more accurately a dribble at a time. The prevoius cordless spotlifter pumped large amounts of water under pressure and made the clean up much easier.
1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible suction
I have two dogs and bought this cleaner to help remove a stain where one of them threw up the night before.Although it did remove the stain, it left my carpet soaking wet!I used almost the whole tank of fluid and it didn't even suck up a tablespoon of dirty water.I continually ran the suction over it, but it didn't work. It's going back to the store tomorrow.

2-0 out of 5 stars not very good
It is inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. the suction was very weak. I tried to clean up a spill in my car and it couldn't suck up the liquid at all. I ended up buying a more expensive wet vac to clean my car. This product doesn't cost much, but it is a waist of money. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Save your receipt
We had our Bissell for about 3 years, which I'm finding is a pretty long time in the lives of steam cleaners.Because we have wood floors on the lower level, and use Stanley Steemers from time to time, we probably used the Bissell about 20 to 25 times, and then usually just to do one room.
5-0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Carpet Cleaner!
We received our Bissell 9750 Proheat self-propelled upright deep cleaner about 3 weeks ago.We LOVE it!We used the deep clean setting the first time and it makes the carpet soft to walk on.We were amazed at the amount of dirt that came out of our carpet and you could even see the carpet moving as the water was sucked back out. The carpet dried quickly within hours, so we know that most of the water was being removed. We have 2 dogs and a cat and knew that our carpet needed deep cleaning on a regular basis....this is the machine for doing just that!Consider buying your own because it is so nice to let it do the work forward and backward by itself. No fighting with the machine. ... Read more

Using hot tap water and cleaning solution, the 12-amp Hoover SteamVac V2 deep cleans carpet fibers, tough stains, and upholstery. 1-0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing quality
I too own one of these SteamVacs and after reading the reviews I am beginning to regret ever buying this product. We've used the SteamVac a number of times and have really good things to say about it's ability to clean. However, since the clean water tank on our unit just broke I too have to rate this as a 1 star like some many others have done here.
1-0 out of 5 stars The tank always breaks
I, like many others, am very happy with this product when it is functioning properly - I love it. However, I've owned my steam vac for 3 years and am in need of my third clean water tank. When the first broke, I didn't think much of it. I just bought the replacement thinking this would never happen again. To my surprise, I need yet another clean water tank. I decided I would NOT buy the next one and that Hoover would send it to me. After contacting Hoover customer service at 330-499-9499 and escalating my phone call through two management levels, they are sending me my third clean water tank. Of course, I was told this was a one time deal, but I fully intend to contact them when the new tank breaks. They should either warn us when we buy that we'll periodically have to replace the tank, use stronger plastic, or replace the tanks for us!!
1-0 out of 5 stars Clean water tank is empty before I can get it from the sink to the unit
...which renders this unit worthless. This is my 4th Hoover (Including one I gave as a gift to my sister), after only one year owning this one it is useless.Where are the lawyers on this site? I think we need a class-action suit. It's ridiculous to spend this kind of money for faulty equipment. ... Read more

Equipped with system for monitoring work speed and a heater forboosting performance, this upright machine deep-cleans carpets and rugsby forcing a warm solution of water and cleansing concentrate intofibers and vacuuming up the dirty solution. The 1440-watt machine alsoscrubs bare floors (but not hardwood floors) and cleans stairs, upholstery, auto interiors, and even mattresses with onboard tools thatspray dirty surfaces and crevices with the cleaning solution. A poweredhand-tool that either brushes or vacuums at the flick of a switchaccompanies the machine and attaches to a flexible accessories hose. The heater's advantage over ordinary machines is that it increases thecleaning solution's temperature (up to but not exceeding 180 degrees F)and prevents the solution from cooling. The electronic monitor displayslights showing whether the machine is going back and forth too fast foroptimum performance. This model also has an applicator for spraying 3MScotchgard dirt-and-stain protector (8 ounces included) onto a carpet. Here's how the machine works: A plastic bottle for filling withBissell's Fiber Cleansing Formula (16 ounces included) fits into thebase. A removable 1-gallon tank contains a bladder to hold clean waterfor mixing with the cleansing concentrate. (Dirty water vacuumed by themachine collects around the bladder.) A dial offers three settings forvarious tasks: normal, high traffic, and water rinse/carpet protector.A trigger on the machine's handle applies solution as desired. Aflow-indicator spins when solution is applied and stops if the tankneeds refilling. There's a switch for applying solution through thetools: tough-stain brush, upholstery tool, bare-floor head, crevicetool, pretreat wand. (The machine does not heat solution for tools.)The machine's 12-inch floating brush-roll automatically adjusts forcarpet heights. Safe for virtually all carpets and upholstery fabrics, the deep-cleaning method can be turned off for dry-vacuuming delicatewool and Oriental rugs. The machine quickly assembles in five steps, using two bolts and nuts and two Phillips-head screws (all included). An especially understandable assembly/instruction booklet accompaniesthe machine, which carries a 1-year warranty against defects. 1-0 out of 5 stars Bissell needs to go back to the drawing board
I Bought my first one a couple of years ago, had it in shop right away,at last complained to bissell, they sent me a new one(believe it was refurbished) Well it started leaking, not spraying, then all of a sudden it smelled burned rubber, Yep the teeth on the roller were gone and the belts were breaking, since it is attatched to a pump, The fix it man said that is $40.00 labor $80. I will pick it up and probably use it only for cleaning my car or furniture since the rug attatchment is dead, I am looking at a Hoover Duo. consumers say it is the best..it is more expensive but when You have dogs..you need it..The Rug Doctor is still the best on market but out of my price range. Good Luck to All

2-0 out of 5 stars Good on Cleaning - Short on Durability
I'll keep this short and sweet:
1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
I had a Pro Heat a few years back and it seemed to work fine for about a year then the pump went out, I purchased another, to give it a fair shot, and was suprised that the quality was missing and couldn't get the new one to work, returned that one and exchanged it for the another. The new one became very fickle to work and very difficult, if not impossible, to clean the pet hair that was caught in the system.

I have had my little green for about 3 years maybe even longer (mine actually looks different than the one pictured...older model with no heat) and still going strong. I paid $89 at WalMart and it has paid for itself. It is EXCELLENT for the car and spot cleaning. It is definitely designed for small jobs and it is quite good at handling them. So if you are looking for an easy to use machine for small clean-ups this is an excellent choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent around the house machine
This is an excellent machine to have around the house for cleaning up after pets or anything else.It is nice and small and works very well for such a cheap unit. Also great for cleaning couches and the interrior of cars.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fixing the Sprayer
If you've read the majority of the reviews for this product you'll notice there is a consistent problem with the sprayer clogging and no longer working. Here's how to fix it. We originally bought the machine a year and a half ago and it quit spraying after only 2 uses. Bissell replaces it under warranty but the bad thing is that your "new" Little Green is only warranteed for the the rest of the time left on the original one you bought. Of course our replacement quit spraying as well until today when my husband figured out how to fix it. Get some liquid CLR Calcium Lime Rust Remover or Lime-Away product and pour straight into the clean water solution tank. Fill only to about 3/4 of an inch of the CLR in the tank, then turn on the Little Green and push the sprayer button. It will immediately begin spraying again. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, then run the rest of the CLR through. Then run through a tank or two of clean water. The problem is the phosphates in your water that clog the sprayer line. This should get rid of the clogs. I would also follow the advice of running through some clean water before storing your Little Green. Other than the sprayer problem the Little Green is very effective at carpet stains and cleaning. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Stealth is right—this small canister vacuum slips in under the radar screen and powerfully sucks up dirt and debris with 1300 watts of cyclonic action. Large particles don’t stand a chance against the air-driven turbo floor and carpet brushes, while the washable HEPA filter traps 99.97 percent of any allergens that try to sneak by. A bagless design means the plastic dust cup with handle removes easily and the bottom releases for emptying into a trash can. Automatic cord rewinding, on-board tool storage, and large wheels make this European-style vacuum even more pleasurable to use. Read more

Features

  • Lightweight canister vacuum with bagless cyclonic action
  • Powerful 1200-watt motor with 1-1/2 times the power of a full-sized upright

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money ...
Light weight, easy to handle, but the major flaw is that it doesn't really pick up anything ... this vacuum is just a very poor performer in what it is supposed to do ...

5-0 out of 5 stars This is my second one!
This little canister vacuum is excellent for several reasons. It is compact and has great tools. It picks up dirt, etc. great. We have 2 vacation rental cabins and I have purchased them for ease in storage and for the multi-purpose tools for when I clean upholstery, window crevices, hard to reach areas.Light and easy to maneuver. Also love the easy to dump dirt area...no bags to deal with except an occassional hepa filter.

1-0 out of 5 stars I rated it a 1 star only because that is the lowest available
They say there are no absolutes in this world. Well this "vacuum" refutes that theory. It is an ABSOLUTE waste of time and money. If you totally field strip it and clean it every time you use it, it is mediocre at best The little shark that came FREE with the big one was overpriced! I wish I had found this sight before I wasted my money on this pile of junk. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Was I expecting too much?
What I imaginaed getting from this machine was a portable, wet/dry vac with a scrubber and spray. What you get is pretty much just a wet vac.The spray option is so tedious that it saves time to just use a squirt bottle. The scrub brush is fairly weak and only works well on fresher stains. The worst part of the whole machine is that the "dry" suction . . . sucks. The suction space is so narrow that you can't suck up anything solid and when trying to use it to suck up dried spices it became clogged and useless. The only reason that I give the dirt devil spot scrubber 3 stars is because it seemed to have good "wet" suction. It did a fairly good job at cleaning up dog pee on the carpet but I think that this could have been so much more if it was constructed better.I would take a pass on this unless you have a lot of money to spend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spot Scrubber does the job
I've been using this product for several days.I have found it to be convenient and well designed. It is exactly what I needed for my puppy who doesn't quite "get it" yet.I was pleasantly surprised because from reading other reviews I thought it sounded like a jet engine taking off.It doesn't.It sounds like a stick broom or a small shop vac.I thought it would be a pain to fill and clean. It is not. Each tank clips on an off separately and easily.I think the tanks are well designed.I thought it wouldn't pull dirt and liquid from the carpet. That it does as evidenced by the dirty water in the waste tank. The spot takes about half a day to dry, just like my full size cleaner. I thought it wouldn't clean all that well.It gets the puppy spot and odor out -- that's the test for me.I thought it would spew waste water out of side vents. The waste tank is enclosed. If you don't dry the outside of the waste tank before reassembly you may feel water droplets coming out the vents. If the tank is dry, then no, there is nothing.Like I said the waste tank is fully enclosed and well designed.I thought the cord would be a pain to wrap and unwrap. No, the self store system is great. It takes about 2 seconds to wrap or unwrap the cord.
1-0 out of 5 stars This thing sucks and not in a good way
I purchased this vacuum because of the glowing reviews on this site. I must say that I am very unhappy with my choice. The thing has no suction power at all and forget about the useless spray that comes with the machine. What little liquid it does suck up then comes spraying out of the vents on the sides.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome product
I think this was the best $70 I have ever spent! It is small, easy to use, and great for stains, stairs and the cars!

3-0 out of 5 stars Works, sort of, but design flaws are frustrating.
I owned an original Green Machine (all green) when they were first introduced. It worked well (but didn't have enough suction power) until it refused to squirt solution.I needed a small nylon internal piece to fix it.Bissell wouldn't sell it to me.I ended up dumping the unit, and bought the next model (with two side-by side tanks) as a replacement. The tanks leaked, and Bissell (to their credit) sent a replacement. It still had problems, so they sent one of their "newest design" units, which is the current model advertised here for sale with tanks on each end.
5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible!
I have had my Little Green Machine for about three years. It's helped me successfully keep my carpet from being ruined many times from stains such as red wine, blood, coffee, and normal foot traffic. I often use Spray and Wash as an added cleaner on tough stains. I also use the Little Green Machine to keep the car carpets and mats clean. It's incredible! ... Read more

Editorial Review

With its five spinning brushes and fingertip controls, the 12-amp Hoover SteamVac V2 gets carpet, upholstery, and tough stains clean deep down. The cleaner is also suitable for tile, ceramic, marble, and linoleum floors (though not appropriate for hardwoods). Constructed with a dual-nozzle air path, the cleaner provides powerful edge-to-edge suction for thorough cleaning and efficient water removal. Designed to agitate the dirt out of carpet fibers and off bare floors, the SpinScrub brushes can be turned off with a simple switch and removed for easy maintenance. The cleaner uses a two-tank design that holds up to a gallon of water at a time and automatically mixes the cleaning solution, so you don’t have to monitor it. Both tanks are enclosed with convenient handles, making them easy to remove and transport. The recovery tank automatically shuts off suction when it’s full and comes with a built-in lint screen. A removable view window on the nozzle lets you see dirty water returning to the machine.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Falling apart
Like so many others have already said, the upper water container is defective.First the valve for the small soap container failed, so I had to add the soap directly in the water container. Now the water container valve has failed and whatever water goes in quickly comes out all over the floor.I guess it's time to search the internet for parts since the thing is unusable the way it is.C'mon Hoover, I expect better quality from a brand name like yours.

2-0 out of 5 stars Worked Great! for a very short period of time
We purchased this unit a little over a year ago for approx. $300.I have a total of 4 rooms that are carpeted in my home so this unit was not overly used.Like other reviews I have read, the top water tank/soap dispenser is leaking the contents quicker than it took to fill it.The seal will not stay in the bottom on the water side. The soap side leaks the same and the seal is tight. The plastic seems to be of less quality than a pancake syrup bottle.I am very disappointed with this product and the local Hoover repair shop that has yet to return my call. I will not have a Hooveriffic day.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's all in the little things...
Like others who wrote their reviews, this was not our first carpet cleaner. We bough this machine about 10 months again then suddenly BOOM!One of the little valves that are located at the bottom of the clean water and the solution tank just popped out and didn't work anymore, rendering the solution tank useless. The other day the other valve did the same thing. No matter how many times you push it back in, it will pop back out spilling your water EVERYWHERE!In order to act on the warranty (because of where we are living) I would have had to be with out my cleaner for three or four months which was not acceptable seeing how we live in a very humid place with a cat, a dog, and two boys!I did find a great website with replacement part for cheap!I ordered two new valves for relatively cheap and it is back to working great again.

Built with a dual air path, the Hoover SteamVac V2 cleansfloors deeply and helps them dry quickly, thanks to its spinningbrushes and powerful edge-to-edge suction. A 12-amp machine with an11-inch cleaning path, the vacuum works on both carpets and upholsterythrough a combination of floor nozzle suction and hose attachments. Itsoperation is simple: hot tap water is combined with a cleaning agent, dispersed into carpet or upholstery, and sucked back up into themachine's recovery tank. The SpinScrub system in the floor nozzlefeatures five rotating brushes to agitate carpet fibers and bringground-in dirt to the surface. 2-0 out of 5 stars Cleans well but built on the cheap
I cannot express my disappointment with this unit and with Hoover.
5-0 out of 5 stars Cleanest carpet ever!Great results. Great investment.
We have light colored carpet, one child, and a dog. Unless I wanted to pay a professional to clean the carpet on a regular basis, this Hoover Steam Vac was the only way to keep my carpet clean. I was THRILLED with the results the first time I used it and it still works well 3 years later. It is AMAZING (and disgusting, actually) to see the dirty water that comes from the bucket after you use it. But the other reviewers are correct in that the solution tank did start leaking so you will need to pay about $40 for a new one. But at least it is only leaking CLEAN water and not the dirty water which would have been totally unaceptable. Mine started leaking water after about a year and eventually had to be totally replaced after about two years (in between that time I would just make sure I ran the machine over the carpet more often than before to suck up any of the leaked clean water). Recommend you use the hottest water you can get from your faucet for the best clean because there really isn't any "steam" as the name implies. But for about $300 I think it was well worth the price. You would pay a LOT more than that to have your carpet done by professionals a few times. And since most household appliances and electronics need to have parts replaced after a while I don't see that as a big deal.I use it two to three times a month and would not want to be without it!

The carpet cleaner was easy to set up and use, worked well, and did a good job on the carpets. It also sucked out the water so that the carpets dried quickly. We are quite happy with it. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst piece of junk ever!
All I can say is PLEASE do yourself a favor and spend your money on any other unit but this.TOTAL JUNK!Plastic says ABS on stampings but it can't be... Real ABS is used in football helmets and is tough stuff, this is thin, cheap and cracks easily.Mine came apart after two uses, the top and base seperating where screwed together because the unit is assembled by screwing into thin built-in plastic 'nuts' which can't handle the vibration and torque of the motor (a wimpy 7 amp toy) moving the handle and stepping on the handle release.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not Powersteamer, but ok for high traffic and spot jobs
We have pets, to be specific, cats. Why, oh, why do we have these beasts that barf on the carpet, leave hair and do other atrocities that I am too delicate to mention here? Well, we love them despite it all. Our adopted kitties are rescue animals and not always so well-behaved when it comes to wall-to-wall carpet. So I bought the Bissel PowerSteamer Upright Vacuum to see if I could get my deranged beige carpets looking a bit cleaner.
2-0 out of 5 stars My cheap Hoover was better
I have to agree with the other reviews, this is not one of the better steam cleaners.I had problems with the flex hose popping out of the tool caddy. It is very difficult to get the power cord and theflex hose wrapped around the tool caddy properly.I also noticed like others the dust bunnies being left behind. All in all, it did an alright job of cleaning the carpet ( I have only used it one time so far, so I'll have to keep my fingers crossed nothing goes wrong next time).

In a house with plenty of light-colored carpet, pets, or a combination of the two, there are enough messes where it pays to own your own steamcleaner. Deep cleaning is meant as an additional step to vacuuming as it shoots warm water deep into carpet fibers to loosen and remove dirt and grit that even daily vacuuming can’t reach.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This one is "buyer beware"
When it was working, it did a good job, but that was not often. We bought one of these a little over a year ago, it arrived badly mis-assembled and not working. They shipped me a new one, then the "turbo brush" kept jamming somehow (cause never determined, by us or service tech) and breaking the belts. I live in Atlanta, and I was able to find all of one place that actually has replacement belts, despite the cleaner being availible in almost any big box store in town. And this place charged about 4X what Bissel charges off their web site. Then the heater died. Meanwhile, it was a constant fight to get it to spray cleaning fluid. Then the trigger for the spray broke off somewhere deep in the innards. Then, finally, 30 days after the warranty expired, the motor quit. Its now gone, and we've replaced it with another brand, which at least worked out of the box.
3-0 out of 5 stars Great cleaning, but durability needs work!
This cleaner worked great for about 2 years. (10 uses)I have three kids and one cat. Then I noticed the upright lock pedal was not working and then the next time I used it, the cleaner wouldn't spray water. (it would only suck if you poured water on the floor) I took it to a vaccuum repair center and he showed me where the problem was.He said there is a design flaw that allows the screws in the top casing to strip over time (machine too heavy) and this in turn, breaks the suction from the water tank to the valve on the base.He said it was not worth fixing and that the pumps were also common to stop working. So, I got out the Gorilla Glue and glued the top to the base and secured the screws with glue.At least for the time being, the cleaner is working again.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but still need Stanley Steamer
Works well for in-between cleanings and stains. Definitely much more affordable than having carpets professionally cleaned three times a year like I need to with all my pets! However, the water container does leak a fair amount when full of clean water--it's not a huge problem, but it does make a bit of a mess.I am really glad I bought this--I clean my carpets at least once a month now that I have it, but I will still have them professionally steam cleaned yearly. ... TriStar's Steam Buggy is a cleaning marvel that does a littlebit of everything around the house. It cleans and sanitizescountertops, disinfects sinks and tubs, and even deodorizes theunder-the-sink garbage can. The best part? It does the work without using anyextraneous cleaners that can harshly react with skin and emit dangerousfumes. It's also very easy to use. Just fill the Steam Buggy with warmtap water, turn on the power, and let the steam do its work. And itworks well, eliminating much of the heavy-duty scraping and scrubbingthat cleaning usually entails. 1-0 out of 5 stars Broke After Minimal Use/Leaks
I had read good things about Steam Buggy and it worked OK for the half dozen or so times I did use it. I used it to get off wallpaper but it did leak so I burned my hand with the hot water. Tightening the attachments didn't help. I also used it to steam clean my stairs and it worked fine. I didn't use it for about 4 months and when I tried to remove the cap, it was impossible to remove. I had to take it to my auto mechanic and even with his tools, he couldn't remove it without breaking it. I've noticed other reviewers talk about the cap breaking. TriStar is impossible to get in touch with. I tried calling for days to no avail. I'm tossing Steam Buggy and buying the McCulloch MC-1275 Steam Cleaner since it got good reviews on this site. If you get a Steam Buggy, remove the cap when storing it, especially if you don't use it often.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great little cleaner...
I have had mine for several years. I use it just about everywhere inside and outside of my house. Cleans the tub, the oven, cabinets, and anywhere that has "gunk" stuck in crevices. Plus it steams wrinkles out of curtains and clothing, and kills dust mites. It is good at getting tough grease off of surfaces too. I have gotten a lot of use out of it.
4-0 out of 5 stars Like it but .....
I like using the steambuggy but needs to have a on and off switch, not just constant use... cap also broke shortly after purchase, and now I can not locate spare brushes, ( they do wear out, or get lost) if anyone knows how to get them, I sure would like to know.Called the 800 number for purchase and they gave me a email address to write to, have not recieved a reply, and it has been 2 weeks ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Not a good at all
I bought this cleaner to clean up after my cat and after about 4 or 5 uses it started to leak all the time...the bissell seems to leak more then it cleans. It is pretty irritating. This machine does clean ok but I would not recomend this to anyone.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very handy!
Thanks to my male Jack Russell Terrier named Jasper, I have come to know this product fairly well.I have had it for 2 1/2 years and used it alot!It finally died yesterday and I feel that I spent less than $20 a year to remove urine spots left by Jasper. You can't beat that! I will be ordering a new one.I recommend this product.

2-0 out of 5 stars Didn't Clean Very Well
I bought this cleaner in 2000, and it worked okay for the first few years.I was VERY disappointed that it only worked for 5 minutes and then had to be recharged. For spot cleaning, it worked fine, but for serious stains (mud and wine), it did not work as well as I thought it would. Also, the holding tank would leak, even when I made sure to tighten it.A few months ago, when I would plug it in for recharging, the red "charge" light would flicker, or not even come on.I ended up throwing it all away about a month ago.Not bad for $30, and almost 5 years of heavy use, but I give it only two stars because of the small amount of time it can work and that it didn't clean some stains. ...
