Sub-Optimal: Cuisinart CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender.
Having been a long time user of a similar product (Moulinex Turbo) for 8 years, my old unit had seen better days and was in need of replacing. So, I made some assumptions about the product based on my experience with my other Cuisinart products and purchased the CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender. Much to my dismay, the Cuisinart hand blender performs nowhere nearly as well as the Moulinex did the day I threw it away. The Cuisinart has a blade that is not sharpened. Consequently, it doesn't cut up food (like blueberries, for instance) very well. It just sort of beats stuff to a pulp, quite literally, and doesn't puree them into liquid. It also has a system of holes around the perimeter of the blade guard that just get clogged up.
Protein Drink Everwhere!
I owned a Braun Miniprimer Plus Hand Blender, with variable speeds and broad stainless steel housing for the blades. I had it for years and worked great until the motor finally gave up, but it's no longer available.I purchased the Cuisinart CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender.It is supposed to have two speeds, but really hard to tell the difference and either button needs to be held down very firmly.I always have to use it at high speed and then takes a long time to completely blend.So far I have only used it for light liquids such as protein drinks, sometimes containing a cut-up banana.It can't chop any firmer fruits or vegetables.
A big BOOM
I had this hand blender when it came with the stainless steel beaker cup (which I did keep), the plastic beaker, lid, chopper & 3 blades.I loved all the gadgets & gizmos it came with.It was very nice to start, but once I started chopping fresh fruits...BOOM!--Sounded like a gun went off!It died.Maybe they are different now?hmmm...sounds like the motor hasn't improved too much though.

Noisy, brutish, and short
I have owned and used several immersion blenders made by Braun and GE, and figured I would try the low end ones.The first I bought from Walgreen's for $10 and it was noisy and vibrated to the point that my hand became numb, so I returned it.
You can't beat the price
I make a lot of protein drinks every week. This is so much faster than getting out the blender and clean up is quick and easy. I make 15 at a time and store them in single serve containers in the refridgerator. I do notice that the handle gets hot by the time I reach the last one, but I have not noticed any other problems. I have found the ideal blender!
My kitchenaid ultra-something blender died on me after 3 years of spotty usage. I bought this blender (the copper version actually) from overstock because of the good ratings it had on some other site. This blender is loud but boy, does it blend & grind! The blade is extremely sharp and this blender makes quick work of things that used to take me 15 minutes - half-an-hour to grind (like soaked rice) on the kitchenaid. The nice thing also is that the blade reaches further down and mixes up the contents pretty well. Another hugely important thing is that whereas the kitchenaid would struggle and heat up during operation and had to be rested periodically so the contents would not heat up also, this blender effectively separates the jar thermally from the base. Your food won't get cooked even as it's blended. The base hardly warmed up, however. The 500 W power is more efficiently used compared to the 600 W of the kitchenaid. Not worth the money
I've had this blender for about 2 years and I'm not too pleased. The thread is gone and the pitcher keeps wobbling on the base. It's good for smoothies and real soft food, but don't ask it to blend much else. It only has 2 speeds, it's heavy and a pain to clean. Don't let the looks and price deceive you. Almost the Greatest!
I have NEVER had a blender that could make a great smoothie.Always chunks of frozen fruit, blocks of ice, but if I leave this easy to use off-on machine on long enough, it about gets it done.It a beautiful color, easy to clean, no leaking (yet) and hopefully the blade rotor on the underside will hold up -- I've had this part go on 100% of blenders.I'll know next year!

Disappointed, very poor performance, wonder how these others are happy with it...
I bought this blender because I liked its retro design, and I thought it would function well.Well, every single time I've tried to use it has been a disaster.Even for very simple tasks, like blending soft avocado, the blender has not worked. The blades spit big chunks onto the sides of the glass jar and then spin around without blending anything... It's horrible.And I even threw away my old, ugly blender when I bought this one... and the other worked just fine. : (

This powerful and sylish blender replaced an old 12 speed Oster which had me grumbling with every use.Two of the primary selection factors were the fact it was NOT an Oster and the wide-based glass pitcher.
