A mixed bag

Great purifier - very quiet
Almost perfect...lacks the last star only because the cord is way too short (what were they THINKING?!).
Does it's job
I get a decently clogged nose while I sleep that causes me to wake up and clear it once or twice a night. I got tired of that, but didn't like the option of using nasal steroids (i.e. Flonase) everyday for the rest of my life, so I decided (after some research) to get this hepa filter. I was pretty excited because of all the other raving reviews on this site, so I quickly set it up and got it running. For the first two weeks or so, a strange stale-ish smell was coming out of it, but it went away after those two weeks. The first night I had it on I noticed it helped with my cloggy nose, I woke up with a pretty clear nose! It got better over time, but I never got the type of results that some people claim to get, where their allergies disappear. Mine still linger, but is a definite improvement.

Great price; last a while
These humidifier filters are as cheap as they get and lasts forever!We live in the Southwestern desert and our family members all have naturally dry skin so our humidifiers practically run year around (one in each bedroom, 365 nights a year).I only need to replace these filters about twice a year because, every month, I soak them in vinegar to remove the hard water deposits.This keeps the filters supple and able to absorb/output more moisture into the air.Don't buy the cheap "fakes" on eBay; get the original Vornado filters; they'll last a whole lot longer than the "fakes".Love the Vornado humidifiers too -- easiest to use and clean!

Ok but not for me..
Pretty expensive considering these little paper wicks will last youabout 2 months until they start smelling and looking really bad.I recommend opting for a "wickless" humidifier.I ended throwing these out along with the humidifier for the new Vick's humidifier which is has the option for a warm or cool setting.

Good unit for winter dryness
I like this unit best among half a dozen warm stream humidifiers I've tried. It has an ample tank that can last through the night, yet it can pump out enough moisture quickly to cover my family room, even fighting the forced-air heating system (which, of course, replaces a lot of the moist air with freshly heated dry air every time the heat runs. I expect it does a lot better with convective heating systems.) The variable speed, automatic shutdown timer and variable humidistat are all handy (though I wish they didn't need to be reset each time the unit is powered on); and, I like the fact that it actually displays the current humidity reading (as opposed to some units that have a control calibrated only as "more humid ... less humid" and you have to guess what it currently thinks of the humidity.)

Hepa Air Cleaner
these hepa filters are reasonable unlike most air cleaner filters, work well and keep my room free of allergies and fresh.I am really pleased with how long they last, you only need to replace it once a year.

Good quality at a great price.
I had looked at several different air purifiers, both in store and online, before finally choosing this one.I must say I am very pleased with my choice.The price was very reasonable and it definitly exceeded my expectations, considering all the many options in air purification.I noticed a huge difference in the quality of the air in my home the next day.I have always had trouble breathing when I sleep and always clearing my throat throughout the day and after having the air purifier running for just a few days, I have noticed these problems dissapear.It is also interesting watching how it senses things like vacuuming and burning candles polluting the air and adjusts its speed accordingly.Definitly a great buy.

Good Investment- Does the job WELL....

Never received item
The item was accidentally sent to an old address, determined to be undeliverableable, and then returned to Amazon...this was a month ago, and I still haven't received a credit back, so I have not yet actually repurchased the items.

Pretty good product
The carbon filters do a pretty good job of filtering dust, etc. before it enters the unit's main filter.They are pretty gross when changing though. ;)The only real drawback is that little black fibers from the pre-filter get on the unit (and elsewhere) easily when you are replacing them.

Hamilton Beach 04161 Is the Best
I have asthma and the Hamilton Beach 04162 has both my votes. I did a lot of research and intially bought the Blue Air (which I returned the next day). The reviews indicated it was the quitest air purifier. It isn't and it cost 2 and 1/2 times the price of the Hamilton Beach. Although it supposedly has the lowest decibel level (which I do not believe), the BlueAir has an extremely irritating high whine that oscillates irregularly, not to mention an annoying bright blue light. This might be good for torturing someone, but the BlueAir is NOT quiet. The only reason I didn't buy the Hamilton Beach to begin with was because a reviewer said he could not sleep to it. ... The Hamilton Beach on low setting has a white noise effect and I actually prefer to have it on when I sleep. It's sound is soporific. The light from the Infrared can be turned off, but it is not annoying like the light from the BlueAir, so I leave it on. The infrared has elimated the mold problem we were having in our bathroom. It is very attractive, well designed, well built, doesn't way a ton, monitors the air, does not incorporated ozone (thank God), and has enabled me to sleep much better. It's a small price to pay....
Year after year I seemed to get really bad colds and my allergies were out of control.I was always looking for ways to cut down the number and severity of the colds.A friend suggested the ProTec Humidifier Tank Cleaner.Since using it, I can tell a difference!I've had less colds and feel great that my air is better for me and everyone around me. This is a great product! I was always tired of constantly cleaning our humidifiers with noxious bleach...even with the regular cleanings with bleach I noticed a slimy film on the inside of the humidifier within a week. This product just drops into the tank of any of our humidifiers so it's easy to use and I know it works since there's no more slimy film and the humidifier tank stays clean.

Specific Replacement
Do not bleach your filters, they will disinegrate. Rinse them out, wash and dry the unit, put back together and run for several hours. This will dry out the filter for future use.

Filters not as good as they used to be and are higher in price.
I have been disapointed in the last filters I purchased for my humidifier.The price has gone up by several dollars and although the filters are suppose to be good for at least a month, I am finding they are not even lasting that long.I regularly clean my humidifier and make sure the water tank is odor free, I am disappointed and plan on sending a email to Hamilton Beach directly.Good Luck!

Great pre-filters
These filters are great and are very easy to install.I live in a house that gets dusty quick even without my 2 Australian Shepherds.I even vacuum off (don't know whether Hamiltom Beach would approve though) the pre-filters every week or so.The unit definitely catches a lot of the dog hair that floats through the air after I brush the dogs.I've found that the pre-filter does a pretty good job of catching hair and dust before it even gets to the HEPA filter. ... AMAZING - works great and reduces snoring!
I read the reviews here, and was still a little skeptical, but bought this anyway. I am really glad I did. You can "feel" the difference from the rest of the house when you walk into the bedroom. My husband and I both have allergies, and we snore pretty loudly. We are sleeping better...our snoring is reduced drastically! I am also going to order one for our daughter's room.We just turn this on an hour or two before going to bed, and sleep much better.

I bought this about 3 months ago, after looking at many different air cleaners. I rent a room in a NYC apartment, my window faces a busy street. Now studies show that indoor air is usually about 2-5 times more polluted than outdoor air, but being next to a street.. well let's just say window open or closed, I'm getting a lot of pollutants.

Functionality Versus Quiet
I bought this unit to try and assist the whole house aircleaner that we have on our central air system.I was amazed at how much dirt that this unit removed from our bedroom.While it does the job it is supposed to do, it is still a bit on the loud side even when placed on the lowest setting.I am not sure that there is any way around this noise as it is caused by the amount of air that the unit moves through the filter.
LOUD & EXPENSIVE
I bought this filter for my mom's house because she has bad allergies and has a cat.It is VERY LOUD, so she can not leave it on during the night while she sleeps.Also, the HEPA filters that you need to change out every year cost almost as much as the unit $60-$90 and you also have to buy another filter that is not as expensive $20 but you have to change out every other month.The 1-bedroom condo still smells of Tiger the cat, even though he sadly passed away several months ago.

A lifesaver!

Be careful what you ask for...
I bought this unit from Fortunoff for my 1 year old son. I had read all the product information available on the web, read reviews, and decided to make the purchase (I had hesitated initially because of the relatively high price tag). Once it had been set up and running, I will say that it is an impressive and well built machine. The mist emitted was visible and strong. However, after running it for one night, the next morning, our hard wood floor and surroundings were saturated with water. This was a very disappointing outcome as I had high hopes that it would do a great job. I tried changing emission direction, elevating it higher off the floor (it was on a table initially) and the problem continued. So in the end I decided to return it. Right now, I am using my old Honeywell HCM535 to do the job. In this case, the Air-O-Swissdid its job too well. The mist did not evaporate into the air, instead it condensed on surrounding surfaces.

Did'nt help with Asthma
I bought this item from BB&B for my daughter who has asthma, after reading the box and seeing that the AOS 7135 eliminates mold spores and any air impurities I decided to invest the money.She has been running it in her bedroom for the last 10 days but has found that it has caused her lungs to become tighter and also it has dried out her nasal passages on a night, her little dog has also been very snuffily, she has been running at around 45 to 50.She is very dissappointed as she hoped that this would bring relief to her breathing and not distress.We are hoping that BB&B will refund the money paid so that we can buy an Oreck air purifier instead.

What a disappointment
I spent $160 on this machine and it worked fine for the first few months. Now it won't turn on. I've sent emails and left voice message for this company, Air-O-Swiss and it doesn't have the courtesy to even respond to me to help repair it. When I pay top dollar for a product, the least a company can do is have service available; otherwise, I might as well buy the cheaper ones. The website doesn't even have a link to its instruction book and its photos of how to refill the filter are awful. And I recommend against buying electronics on Amazon because it's too difficult to return things.

Vornado Humidifier
We love this thing.Both of us have never slept better since we got it.We fill the tank about every 3rd night, super easy, and keep it on medium the whole night and only while we're sleeping.It has a mild fan-like sound (probably because it IS a fan) and I have always liked some steady sound to sleep by.
Good no-frills humidifier
The Vornado HU1-0012-11 humidifier is very easy to set up, to operate, and to refill.It is quiet and does a very good job of humidifying my bedroom.It is a no-frills unit that does a simple job and does it well.What I like best about it is that it is very easy to refill the tank and replace the filled tank in the unit.

Does the job
Bought a Vornado after doing some research.When I kept seeing that Hunter brand humidifiers needed parts, broke down, leaked, etc., I noticed a few mentioned either going back to, or buying a Vornado brand.So I did.

Do NOT buy the Ionic Pro! It is UNHEALTHY & STINKY!
Before I start, let me write a disclaimer that this might apply to ALL brands of this type, maybe not just the Ionic Pro. (I haven't tried the others.)
Works well.Worth the money
I was thinking about purchasing one of these ionic purifiers for a while, since I saw it in sharper image.But as I knew the technology behind it, I knew that sharper image was just gouging customers by charing $300 for a unit.Then finally at costco or frys (i don't remember), I picked up the ionic pro (about 2 years ago) and since then it worked well.I dind't deal with their support.So I coud not tell how good or bad they are.But the product is good for the price.It eliminates the musty smell in the room with ions, and gives the fresh feeling.

I have had 2 machines, nierther one has lasted very long, when I called thier custormer service it was a joke,Once they found out that I needed to return the item (full size) they hung up and woul dn't answer the phone when I called back. ... Read more
