GREAT HEATER FOR RIGHT USE
This heater is fantastic for keeping my office desk area warm. At only 800 watts max (the 400 setting is usually fine) it gets rid of the chill but does not get anger the building management because.
Best Space Heater I've Ever Had
The other reviews worried me before I bought this heater, but I'm very happy with it especially for the price I paid ($19).It's very quiet unlike fan heaters.It doesn't get too hot even if I put it close to me (most other heaters do and I have to turn them on and off constantly) and yet the room gets quite warm.The automatic shut-off doesn't kick in even though I leave it high for hours.This is the best space heater I've ever had!

defective engineering
This item was designed improperly. The high setting allows the heater to operate for no more than 10 minutes before the built-in "overheat" safty device shuts down the heater; after which, you would then have to manually reset it by unplugging and replugging it into the wall outlet. I am not sure exactly where the engineers placed the safety cut-off device but maybe they have it installed too close to the quartz tube behind the reflective metal sheet. Not a Vornado, but gets the job done
This fan is neither as powerful nor as quiet as the Vornado fan it tries to imitate, but compared to some of the other fans on the market today, the Honeywell Mega Turbo is pretty darn good.It moves an impressive amount of air, is solidly constructed, and comes with a reassuring 5-year warranty.

Yes, it DOES work !!
I am a set medic, so I am often in uncomfortable environments working on film sets. I have had this Personal Cooling System sitting around for a while after I bought it when my AC went out and it got me though the 2 weeks until it was fixed. I had forgotten about it after the AC was fixed at home.
Does not live up to function as claimed
I bought this thing due to my inablity to handle heat effectively anymore like I used to. The unit was not deffective or anything like that, but it also only works under very specific conditions and that window is small. While it is stated in the manual that it's not an A/C unit or super powerful and that it works off of evaporation. I found it to be nothing more than an inconvienance than effective. The fan at the back of the unit doesn't have enough power to move the lightest of feathers let alone allow one to feel anything. While the manual claims that the fan is for cooling the back of your neck I find it is more functional to the evaporation chambers. Overall, the unit just keeps your neck wet and doesn't really cool anything. I found that the unit did work a little more noticably if it was not that hot out and you stood still. Anything over 85 degrees and it fails.

Effective but Problematic
This unit was very effective at removing moisture when it worked! We had 2 of them. The first one only lasted 6 mos before it froze and wouldn't work. The store replaced it and then 8 months later Whirlpool recalled the second one to have a fire hazard in the wireing repaired. After that it lasted another year and a half. The compressor kicks on but the fan is dead. We are going to replace it with another model because even when it worked it was loud, the water bucket was hard to clean, and the filter was inadequate in design for people like us that have dog hair in the air.

Powerful Unit
We personally own 2 of these units. It amazes us every time we turn them on how much water they draw out of the air! It is like other dehumidifiers, in that is it not very quiet, but it works great! It makes us feel so much better to know all that moisture it collects is not sitting around creating mold in our furniture, clothes, walls, floors, etc!

Whirlpool dehumidifier unreliability.
I have purchased four of these and the first one was excellent. One had an electrical problem while it was plugged in that could have caused a fire. Fortunately I was home and the odor alerted me.The third one did not work at all and was returned to where I purchased it for a refund.The fourth one will not work because the bucket will not engage to the point where it will operate.I have a book propped against it to keep the bucket in place.Needless to say, I am looking into another brand to supplement my oldest one which is still working after 5 years. ...
