A fantastic product
The pepper ans salt grinders are fabulous. Don't understand why it gets so many bad reviews! It works great, gives out as much crushed pepper as a regular small pepper mill does. And the pepper and salt coarseness are perfect too. Plus it is very handy unlike traditional mills where you have to rotate with both hands. Great product!

Cannot adjust for coarseness
The description says you can adjust for coarseness of the salt/pepper, but there is no such knob on the mini grinders. We replaced the store bought salt with sea salt and now the grinder doesn't work. Disappointing.

I've had this pepper mill for two years, and I have no idea what these poor reviews are all about!This mill works consistently, with no clogging, no mess, no fuss, no frustration, no tarnishing, no cracking.We use it daily, and have gone through four or five refills.This is the first mill we've bought that works perfectly, every time. I passed on this one at the store!
I LOOOOOOVE pepper grinders.I have owned at least three.This one caught my eye when I was registering for wedding gifts, but as I was looking at it I discovered that the tops were very wobbly.Only about 1 in 10 turned the way it should.The others were very loose, and did not hug to the pepper mill tightly enough. Can't believe how much it cost, but...
This is a wonderful Pepper Mill. I love the way it looks with the other stainless steel accessories my husband and I have purchased! We've had it for about a year now, and we've had absolutely no problems with it. Works well for herbs
Not sure how well the pepper mill actually work for pepper.I use a little electric mill for that.However, I bought four of these sets a few years ago and now I'm buying four more.I gave away the salt shakers - don't need more than one of them.However, the little pepper mills are just perfect for grinding dried herbs as you need them.Store coarse cut dried leaves or seeds in the little grinders and grind fine onto your salad or soup.Works quite well for everything from rosemary needles to mustard or celery seed to crumbled dried parsley or basil leaves - or mixes of many herbs.And the little grinders sit nicely in an herb bottle wall rack or in a little saucer on the table.Only time I ever had the crank handle break off was when I stored a salt/herb mix in one of them and the grinder wheel froze up from salt generated corrosion. Keep the salt in the salt shaker and use the little grinders for herbs.Or even pepper.

what good is salt without pepper
I used this set for a couple of months before the little knob on the grinder fell off.Then the acrylic cracked.Overall a very low quality product.Invest in a good set, or buy this set every couple of months.

Engineering perfection
Maybe the previous reviewer (et415) had a defective unit, or something other than pepper to grind, but it is not physically possible that "the 'screw' [it's actually a nut] that controls grind fineness becomes loosened as you grind." The lid that you grasp and turn to grind the peppercorns fits tightly over a flattened part of the drive spindle, firmly locking it in place. The nut screws onto the threaded part of the spindle that sticks through the lid. The more you tighten the nut, the higher it lifts the spindle and the inner part of the grinding mechanism at the bottom of the spindle, resulting in a coarser grind. The nut, the lid and the spindle move as one since the lid is firmly locked onto the flattened part of the spindle.The nut cannot become loose as you turn the lid. The nut just sits there.

The screw that controls grind fineness becomes loosened as you grind, so you constantly have to adjust it as you grind.Grind volume is OK, but not great.I bought it because it was cheap and it's clear so you can see how much peppercorn you have left.But there are probably better grinders out there. ... Best grinder ever!
Most pepper grinders I've owned wear out, clog up, or break within a year or so.I've had the pepper bunny ball for three years now and it's still going strong.In response to the gentleman below--he should read his directions.The dial on the bottom of the ball isn't meant to come off--it's the coarseness adjuster--isn't where you refill it.

Don't buy it !
This pepper mill does not work well at all, it takes a lot of hand crunching to get the pepper ground and the refill 'twist off' plastic cap on the bottom on mine does not even open.The lip of the plastic cap hits the side of the pepper mill plastic body not allowing the refill cap to come off ! I used it until it ran out of pepper and that's it. Writing the manufacturer to get a refund. Shoddy construction. Get yourself a good old-fashioned wooden pepper mill.

Cheesy, dangerous gadget,
I've had the smaller model only about a month. Nevertheless,it is starting to go. It puts shards of sharp plastic in the food. (From searching the net on this, I find that my experience is not unique, either.)
