Editorial Review

This budget-priced cookware set is perfect for college students or young couples who are setting up a first kitchen. The 14-piece set has everything necessary for the basic meals attempted by entry-level cooks (pasta and sauce, eggs, and anything pre-packaged). The pans in the set include four covered saucepans in 1-, 1-1/2-, 2-, and 4-1/2-quart sizes and two nonstick skillets in 9- and 10-1/2-inch sizes. The pans are accompanied by four kitchen tools: a slotted spatula, a ladle, a slotted spoon, and a pasta fork.

Made of aluminum, which is an excellent conductor of heat, these pans warm up through the bottoms and sides for even cooking. A nonstick coating on the interior and exterior of the pan reduces the need to cook with extra fats and makes cleanup fast and easy. Pans have durable, riveted phenolic handles that stay cool on the stovetop and see-through glass lids for keeping an eye on supper as it cooks. All Cook’s View cookware is oven-safe up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and is dishwasher-safe. --Cristina Vaamonde

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst cookware I have ever had!
This is the first time I have written a review on anything but after using these pans I felt I had to let people know how horrible they are. I have bought most of my cookware from Wal-mart, the cheap ones, because I couldn't afford to buy expensive stuff. I thought these would be similar to what I had bought in the past, not the best but useable. Definately not true! I have had them aprox. 2 mo. and have only used them a few times when I need non-stick. (I have cast iron cookware too but don't use them for anything with a tomato base) I have had to go back to the old non-stick cookware (or at least the ones I didn't throw out). The pans I threw out after 3 yrs were in better shape than these are now.The old ones were Farberware also and cheap at Walmart, that is why I ordered these, but they are difinately not the same quality. The coating on these peel off even when not being used. I take them out of the cabinet to use and there are black flakes in the bottom from the coating falling off! My husband says they look like the coating is just paint that is peeling off. I agree.
You may be thinking it has something to do with a dishwasherbut it doens't. I don't own one, these are washed by had with soap, water and soft dish cloth.
the cheapest set at Wal-mart is better quality than these, I promise.
I love Amazon and I hate to write a bad review about a product they sell but I felt I had no choice with this one! Of course it is not their fault.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for the price!
Definitely not commercial quality, but hey, for the price they are excellent. For everyday cooking, this set is great. I see so many reviews bashing this set, but for the low cost it is much more than you can expect buying the cheapo set from WalMart!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Average Cooks
Pros: Performs as advertised.Exceeds expectations.Non-stick
surfaces have held up well after a month of heavy daily use, including occasional overcooking (read burning) of foods, and top and bottom rack automatic dishwashing.

Cons (very minor): Depth of 9-inch skillet with glass lid barely holds ingredients of some recipes, e.g., Hamburger Helper Stroganoff.Use the dutch oven or larger skillet to avoid spillovers.Glass lids should be used gently as their bare metal edges may scratch the pots.

A glass cover for the 10.5-inch skillet would have been nice. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars meh, they're ok, i guess
I mean, they're definitely holding up better than my LAST bakeware. That's not really saying too much, though. I baked lemon bars and then a cobbler a couple weeks later in the brownie pan and the nonstick coating is already wearing off. I am really disappointed, but I guess I shouldn't expect too much of nonstick bakeware. From now on I'm buying glass.
If you're a college student, or grad student, who'll share these with roommates who can't treat things how they should be treated, buy these. If you're a poor person living by yourself or with a significant other, invest in glass. It'll last much much longer. I'm quite poor, actually, and thought I'd save money buying these. It was definitely a mistake I've learned from.

1-0 out of 5 stars Non-stick?!Hah!Should be re-named "All-stick"!
My husband bought these for me for Christmas last year because I love to bake and I'd bought some "non-stick" baking sheets from Wal-Mart that were a real disappointment, but according to the reviews of this item, these were supposed to be fabulous.

Not so, I have had them for about 11 months now, I still use them because we're trying to save up money for our first house so I don't want to spend the money to buy MORE baking pans.I end up spraying of non-stick cooking spray on these pans just so I can still use them. After the first 2 or 3 uses, these pans were fine, they didn't distribute heat evenly, so some areas would be burned and others would be under-cooked, but they WERE non-stick.After using them for a few times though, it was IMPOSSIBLE to get ANYTHING off of them!!!"Non-stick"?!!What a JOKE!!!One of the cookie baking sheets I soaked for a day, scrubbed with soap, hot water, AND the scrubby side of a Scotch brand sponge.Nothing came off.Soaked for ANOTHER day, scrubbed, nothing. After the third day, I just gave up and now there is stuff permanently STUCK to these so-called "NON-STICK" pans!

I am VERY unsatisfied with these items and if I could, I'd rate the set at ZERO STARS!THE WORST!Do yourself a favor, invest a little more money in a baking set and avoid the frustration, because you get what you pay for, and these pans are crap!

Topped by a bun warmer with a transparent lid in bright red, this Champ is a variant of the popular George Foreman Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine. The electric appliance's appeal lies in its simplicity and countertop convenience--not to mention its fat-fighting ability. The double-sided grill (a 6-by-7-inch nonstick cooking surface) cooks burgers, steaks, chicken, sausage, fish, shrimp, and vegetables top and bottom in minutes. (Recipes accompany the grill.) Grill marks not only look appetizing, they contribute caramelized flavor. The bottom grill's deep grooves collect fat, and the grill is sloped so the fat runs off into a dishwasher-safe plastic tray stationed under the unit's front.

The nonstick bun warmer draws heat from the grill and can be used while food is grilling or by itself. (The entire unit, grill and bun warmer, turns on by plugging in the power cord.) The warmer heats a burger's bun as well as other bread items, including English muffins, tortillas, pita bread, sliced bagels, and croissants. Because the grill is nonstick, cleanup is a snap: just a quick scrape with a plastic spatula (included) and a quick wipe with a paper towel or a sponge. --Fred Brack ... Read more

When reviewing any product, it's important to do so objectivly.
Wherin purchasing this product off Amazon.com, I felt obliged to point out its successes, and shortcomings.

Being a grill, it was obviously excellent at cooking a wide range of meats and fish. All with exceptional and tasty results.
It really did cut the fat off all the food I cooked on it, leaving a flavoursome, healthy meal.

Unfortunatly, one wednesday afternoon, upon trying to spark up a little light conversation with the grill, I found that it is either mute, or undeniably rude.
Accepting this as a large shortcoming, I attempted to juice some brown lemons on it's pointy corners to make my own patented "Mega-Lemon juice", with little success.
Moving on I felt the only option was to open the grill, and place it carefully over my head, to use as shield from rain, sleet other nasty weather elements.
Whilst it did keep me cool when "out and about", the effectivness of the rain guards, is well, discourging.

Later on in the week when my Niece came to see me for a visit, I immediatly challenged her to a game of "George Foreman GR10ABWI Champ Grill", even though I had been familiar with the grill for upwards of four days prior, my niece won almost every round, AND the playoffs, indicating that beginners luck may still be an issue with this product.

I'm left torn regarding my opinin of the product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Shazam! Easy Peasy Squeezy Cheesey Peas in Minutes!
'BAM!', that was my first response! I was pleased to be writing this review because the Foremangrill is life changing. My elder sister, Inga Bosse Per Magnusson (she is not married, my mother says she is a kellinke, and my fater argues that no man would want a woman with a face like an overripe stilton) bought me this gift to celebrate Jul, which is the real Christmas, as you Americans call it. Ho ho ho!

This Foremangrill was wonderful. Even with it still in its fancy colourful packaging, it managed to cook not one, but two sallete eggs on top! Take that, cheap competitors! Out of the box, it's grilling performances astound even more. On it, I cooked strips of beef, chicken, rabbit, elk, seal and even whale blubber. Some people say it will even cook vegetables.

Every night, I rush to be with my Foremangrill. While I prepare a freshly uncooked meal of gravadlax, seal blubber and kelp, I warm my buns on top! What a great idea. Here in Iceland it's cold all year round, and we're still pretty dark. I love resting my buns on top to gently warm them!

It is not all good though! Many people say that you can cook everything on the Foremangrill, and would shout YAHTZEE at the top of their happy lungs, but you mustn't listen! No! I ruined my best pair of shorts when I tried to cook my Salkjot Og Baunir! Nanna said, "Put the peas in a large pan and add water. Bring to the boil, skim, then add thyme and onion. Simmer, covered, for 45 minutes". You would love to see the mess when I added water! Ha!

Nanna, "Tradition says you should eat as much (especially meat) as you possibly can, until you are about to burst. The reason for this is of course that in the old days, you would have been preparing for seven meatless weeks, so you better pig out". I love pigging out with my Foremangrill! The best cooking device next to a flux capacitor!

With love from Helsinki!

3-0 out of 5 stars Grilling adventures of Dinglehopping surprise!
Hello my friends.

I purchased this grilling device over a moon ago, whilst staying in a hotel that offered free net access and nachos at 11pm. Once delivered to my house, I wrenched it from it's box using my withered spangle wrapper gloves. I plugged it in immediately and starting cooking!

My! What a fantabulous device! It cooked my Spazzings and whipplenippledelights in five seconds flat! However, to my horror, thsi grill is not Dinglehopper 5.0 compatable. The Dinglehoppers slid straight off the grill and splattered like donkey wee onto the counter. I was devastated, I yearned for my dinglehoopers. My flux capacitor powered sandwich grill could hadle them, why can't this?!

To make matters worse, that swine Gregori crept from the cupboard and yelled 'YAHTZEE SKOR!' and once again i was forced to beat him with a fresh willow branch until his buttocks turned 'surprised'. I then locked him in the sorry box until his wailing diminished to an acceptable level.

I certainly recommend this grillicle, but not for dinglehoppers. They slide too much.

Thanking you for your time friends,

Editorial Review

With a simple design alteration, Oxo has revolutionized a seemingly ordinary kitchen staple, making it doubtful that you’ll ever go back to using a conventional measuring cup again. This 4-cup measurer has cup, ounce, and milliliter markings on its outside as most cups do. However, it also has a patented angled surface within the cup so you can measure out liquid ingredients while looking straight down into the measurer. This eliminates the need to bend down or lift the cup up to read the side. As with all Oxo products, this measuring cups has the signature ergonomic, nonslip handle. The cup is dishwasher-safe but should not be used in the microwave or on the stovetop.--Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Pleasure To Use
I am a professional baker and I absolutely love this product. Not only is there no bending over, but the measures are in single units so there is no guessing (many cups only mark 2 oz, 4 oz which makes 1/2 oz measures difficult).

5-0 out of 5 stars Cook uses cup
This was my find for Christmas.Everybody on my list got one. The printing is clear and stays visible through many dishwashings. The oval shape means it pours into an electic mixer bowl with no problems.I can brace the cup on the top of the mixing bowl and let molasses run out.The measurements are accurate and the contrast means little confusion.

4-0 out of 5 stars An excellent improvement over the usual..
I think the ability to read the measures without bending over to look at the measures so they are line of sight is excellent.I have spent less, if any, time pouring liquids...bending to look...getting back up and adjusting only to have to get back down and look again...

I find all this adjusting pretty tedious and I think the set up of this allows for more accurate measures the first time around.A plus that is a great convenience...The handle feels good and its non-slip which helps as you are deaing with liquids.I really like this brand for very reasonable gadgets at almost always great prices.I chose the 4-cup version as it isnt a size that I have.Sometimes I will fill the cup with chicken stock, let it cool a bit and take off the congealed fat.The smaller versions would be too small for this use.

I think it could be a bit easier to pour but with a little care and attention, I havent had any disasters with it.oxo is a great brand for stocking a kitchen in my opinion.Reasonably priced items that in general last very well under home use and there is usually a comfort feature (like the handle) included in the design. Bravo again! ... Read more

Reach for this versatile tool when a stand blender or food processor is too big or inconvenient for the task at hand. And when you do, you won't drag a power cord along, because this powerful, 16-1/2-inch hand blender operates on rechargeable batteries. Fully charged, it runs for about 15 minutes before needing recharging. Then just detach the charger handle and plug it directly into a wall socket. Other virtues of this blender, which goes to food rather than needing food to be brought to it, include a rubber finger grip so your hand doesn't slip when wet; an on/off button on top of charger handle for thumb operation; a dishwasher-safe, detachable blending shaft; a separate attachment for quickly whipping cream or desserts; a counter stand or wall mount for storage; and a 2-cup, dishwasher- and microwave-safe beaker. Clear instructions and recipes accompany the blender. --Fred Brack ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars It sounds like a warranty, BUT
When customers have to ship the product insured and ALSO pay a "shipping and handling" fee of up to ten dollars to receive service, that's a SHAM warranty designed to discourage warranty claims as much as legally possible. It's tantamount to NO warranty. There SHOULD be Federal legislation prohibiting this kind of scam, but that's not likely to happen given the character of the legislature. The next best solution to this kind of BS is for informed customers to vote with their wallets.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great product until it stopped working
Had this indispensable item for less than two years when it died.Worked well one day; seemed to be recharging but was totally dead the next day.Three year warranty, but you have to pay postage both ways (they require you to send $7 with the defunct product).

1-0 out of 5 stars very disappointing
I bought this blender primarily because it was cordless and would therefore be easier and safer to use. But its performance has been very disappointing. The battery does not hold a charge well; the motor dies after just a few seconds. It's hard to hold down the power button for very long. And the stick is just too tall; I have to hold my arms up too high over whatever I'm trying to blend. I bought this at full price ($75) a year ago, and it was a waste of money. I'm going out to buy another model that has a cord and is more comfortable to use. ... Read more

Target has a 5 piece set (without the wisk) at $19.95, so I thought I was getting a good deal when Target agreed to discount to the $14.99 price. This deal is super since these items sell individually for $4.99 each.I have enjoyed using them and they are superior to the typical lightweight, Chinese knockoff bargain. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is probably not the best idea to leave a utensil in a pan while it simmers.

5-0 out of 5 stars 3 yrs and counting....
We got these as a bridal shower gift and they have held up VERY well. I mean- other than the spatula got a bit marred up through use and one of the spoons leaks from the handle after washing. I bought this mixer to make cookies. The first time I used it 1/2 way through I heard a pop and it just stopped. Guess Ill try a Kitchen-aid!

5-0 out of 5 stars Does the Job; Built to Last
I'm very pleased with this mixer; I've had it for about one year. It's top speed is so powerful that I seldom use it.The lowest speed is perfect when adding ingredients:you get a little bit of a flour cloud when adding dries, but it couldn't be much slower, because it actually starts to bog down when the ingredients blend (so you have to kick up to the next speed).I'm known in the family for burning up mixers (but I've been better since I stopped using them to beat cooling fudge), so I'm very pleased that this mixer has lasted a year and is still going strong.Only drawbacks:1)I find it to be heavy (but perhaps that a trade-off for being high-powered), and 2) the cord is not interchangable from side to side, so I have to work to the left of my power outlet or the cord falls in the bowl.Overall, though, I'm very pleased.

2-0 out of 5 stars Didn't last very long....

This charming chicken-and-chicks timer will brighten up your kitchen counter while it keeps your cookies, cakes, roasts, and casseroles from burning. The ringing tone will remind you to take your pie out of the oven or check your pasta on the stove. The timer works best when timing longer intervals--the chime is triggered mechanically, and units of less than 10 minutes don't trip the ringer accurately--but this timer is a cheery way to keep track of most kitchen tasks. --Julija Gelazis ... I received my timer yesterday and decided to test it... IT DIDN'T WORK!!!I shipped it back right away.It looked somewhat cute with the chicken and chicks but the quality is not really good, not just because it didn't work, but just how the plastic looks.I would get another kind in a heart beat...

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER
It looks sleek and functional, but put simply, it's not.Just today, I walked into my kitchen, approached the sink and everything fell off into the sink and onto the floor and broke.I didn't even touch it.It wasn't bad enough I guess, that every time I looked at the silverware holder, it fell off and all the contents have to be rewashed. My full price dishrack is going out with the recycling this week. What a shame.

2-0 out of 5 stars Dish Rack for Visual Only
I too simply adored the way this dish rack looked and bought it.I have been very afraid to actually put any nice dishes on it because it has collasped several times.I make sure it's not overloaded and the same things happens. If I hadn't thrown away the box, I'd probably return it.

1-0 out of 5 stars form over function
I bought the improved model of this at a store, with no silverware holder and a system for cups that involves twenty little plastic thingies that fall off every time you look at them. Additionally, maybe I did something wrong, but mine just collapsed under the weight of, say, my grandmother's china. I rigged a fix involving bent metal, but I expect the whole thing to just implode one of these days. Likely when I've just washed the nice dishes. It is lovely, though, isn't it?I utterly adored Target until I took this thing out of the box. ... Read more

For contemporary kitchens, this jumbo paper-towel holder, styled in chic brushed 18/8 stainless steel, makes countertop storageattractive. The towel holder measures 14-1/4 inches high and has a basewith a 7-3/4-inch diameter--large enough to hold a huge, economy-sizedroll of paper towels. 1-0 out of 5 stars Good lookin Till you get it home
I was happy with the sleek look - but unfortunately it's kind of cheaply made. The vertical rods that keep the paper towel in place are loose and bending and no way to tighten at all! Nice looking until you use it, then kind of cheesy. There is acutally the same looking one at Macy's (I have only seen it in-store) and the vertical rod is not loose its very tight, very well made and....inexpensive!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Don't unscrew the knob . . .
For the most part I really like this paper towel holder. It's sturdy enough for me, but I must not be yanking off the towels as hard as everybody else apparently is.I would suggest not unscrewing the top to change the roll, as it is not a simple task to put it back together. The knob and rod are actually two or three pieces, not one as you would think.Anyway, I've found that you can just pull the empty roll up over the knob and replace it the same way, without unscrewing the top. It's actually easier than screwing around (hah!) with the knob.

1-0 out of 5 stars Industrial-looking but not industrial strength!

4-0 out of 5 stars Lovely with an exception
I adore this flatware! The weight, the clean lines, and beautiful shape! However, it only gets 4 stars because the knives develop rust spots when put in the dishwasher. To prevent rusting, I have to hand wash them. Admittedly, it's inconvenient and not something everyone wants to do. The spoons and forks seem to do just fine in the dishwasher so I don't know what's wrong with the knives. I'm assuming they're made differently. Gourmet Settings, the manufacturer, does have a warranty on the flatware so if you buy this set you may want to, or have to, make use of this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!!
I love this silverware! I've bought three sets of the Non-Stop version and EVERYBODY always comments on it. I love the modern look that this has.I searched everywhere for a set that matched my style ( I didn't want something that looked like it belonged at my grandmother's house)and finally found it here at Target. The reason i'm writing this review now is because of the customer service at the Gourmet Settings company (where this sliverware is from).I had a couple rust spots on a few knives and forks and emailed the company about this problem. Two days later (today) I recieved the replacement set via UPS.I am soo impressed with this company! Seriously you could not ask for prettier, modern sliverware or the wonderful and helpful customer service that this company brings!

I received two sets for a wedding gift. They are really stylish.I love them except they have started to rust.I contacted the manufacturer and they were so wonderful! What a great company. They are replacing them for me as we speak.A+ for them. Now lets hope this second set is better! ... Read more

These glasses are beautifully weighted, dishwasher-safe, and sturdy without feeling clunky. The double old-fashioned glass is 4-1/2 inches tall and holds 14-1/2 ounces; the cooler glass is 6 inches tall and holds 17 ounces. There are eight of each per set. Are these glasses cobalt blue? Midnight blue? Ink blue? Whatever association the color conjures, it is the deepest, most sumptuous blue around. And whether blue glass sends your imagination sailing off to the Mediterranean or to Bristol, England (famous for its blue glass since the 17th century), with these glasses, bubbly water with a wedge of lemon becomes a sacrament. --Erin Brown ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great to drink from
these are great glasses, not as boring as clear glass, drinking a cafe Alaska (espresso and Breyer's Coffee ice cream) in the shorter one now.I wanted to give a review after reading the review about the person with the breakage problem. These are made of glass so of course they will break. And what about the person that wrote of stacking them?I learned as a boy that putting a glass inside another glass might cause it to get stuck.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love Them :-)
I love everything about these pretty glasses.
They are attractive and more durable than most
glasses I've had in the past. They are thicker too
so they keep your liquids colder or hotter longer.

The price is fabulous for the quality of this drinkware.
They are a little too wide for certain areas
of my dishwasher but it's worth it to me to
change things around to fit them in :-)

I keep some stored in my freezer and some
in the cabinet. They frost well and oh, did I say
I loved them?:-)

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful glasses make every occasion special
I am so glad that we purchased these glasses! Even drinking ice water on a hot day feels like a celebration with these classy glasses. They are more durable than regular clear glass (tipped one over on my counter and it didn't break!) and as previously indicated, easily stackable. Now with free shipping, they are even better!

We purchased ours two years ago (and I reviewed them then, under a different username).Since then, we have lost only three to breakage. We will purchase another set - I'm so afraid they'll be discountinued, now that they are marked as clearance items. These are gorgeous and HIGHLY recommended. You won't regret your purchase. ... Blessed with large, easy-to-read markings, the five measuringspoons in this set make any cook's work easier. They're permanentlysecured by a solid ring, are sturdily made of thick, black plastic, andare dishwasher-safe. The spoons accurately measure 1/4-teaspoon,1/2-teaspoon, 1-teaspoon, 1/2-tablespoon, and 1-tablespoon amounts. Theirhandles are slightly curved, making it easier to obtain levelmeasurements in the proper wrist position. 5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Set of Spoons
I LOVE KitchenAid Cook's Tools and Gadgets. I especially love these spoons and the cups that they make that match them. It stead of being flat on the bottom they are rounded. This makes it easier to get all your ingredients out of the measuring spoon or cup and into your recipe.
I personally am collecting all of the KitchenAid Cook's Tools and Gadgets for my Hope Chest (so when I get married I will have things that withstand time :)

1-0 out of 5 stars Spoons are too wide
I liked the look of these measuring spoons, but I've hardly used them. The spoons are so wide, even the smallest measure cannot fit into any of my spice jars.Definitely impractible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quality design
There are three things that set these spoons apart from the competition. The most important is the handle design. The curved handle acts as a support so that the spoons rest level on their own.If you have ever measured out a liquid ingredient before you needed it, then you know the issue with trying to put the spoon on the countertop; the spoon tips to one side and the liquid spills.I usually end up trying to wrinkle a piece of paper towel for just the right height to support the handle, and then hope I don't accidentally bump it.In the KitchenAid spoon's design, the curved handle is an elegant solution to this problem, and I think it really represents their "for the way it's made" slogan. The second bonus to the design is the smooth connection between the handle and the cup. This is great for leveling powdered ingredients. In competing designs I've used, the powder gets stuck in the nooks and crannies, and it's a nuisance to remove. With ingredients like garlic powder, small measurement errors make a big difference. The last nicety in this set is the grouping ring.I've used designs where you can only remove the spoons from one side, and it's annoying to remove all the spoons just to get to the last one!KitchenAid has a simple cut in the ring to remove spoons, which allows you to remove them in either direction, as well as getting to the spoons in the middle of the stack. Also, the ring is oval shaped so that if you hang the spoons, they won't accidentally slip through the ring's opening. For something as simple as measuring spoons, this set is a great piece of work. ... Calphalon 4-Piece Nylon Measuring Cup Set
by Calphalon
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Kitchen

US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

With these unique measuring cups from Calphalon, you'll never have to remember how many tablespoons make up a half cup. This set of four comes in 1/4-, 1/2-, 2/3-, and 1-cup sizes. But instead of stopping there, these cups break it down further, into tablespoons. They all have "steps" so you can see the smaller increments. That means that you can use these four cups for just about any measurement you'll need to do in your kitchen. For instance, the 1/4-cup measure has a smaller well marked for two tablespoons, then blossoms out to the four tablespoons that make up 1/4 cup. The 2/3 cup, on the other hand, offers a 1/3 measure while showing that 5-1/3 tablespoons make up 1/3 cup. Though you may never have seen measuring spoons like these before, once you have them you won't know how you lived without them. --Dana Van Nest ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Unique Measuring Cups
You have to click on the picture of these measuring cups a few times and view the image at it's largest magnification to appreciate what makes these measuring cups unique. They're tiered so each measuring cup allows you to measure at least two different amounts.

The largest cup lets you easily measure a full cup, a 1/2 cup, and a 1/4 cup. The teirs are clearly marked on two sides to identify the volume of each tier. One side identifies the parts of a cup being measured (as you might expect), but the other side identifies the equivalents in tablespoons (16, 8, & 4). This is also a unique feature among measuring cups I've seen. For me the tablespoon equivalents are extremely valuable. If you're the kind of cook who knows that 1/3 cup equals 5 1/3 tablespoons, you may not be impressed by this feature.

The second largest cup measures 2/3 and 1/3 of a cup. There's no separate cup for a 1/3 measure, but having one cup that can measure both makes it easier to measure a multiple of 1/3 cup, a fairly frequent occurance. The 1/2 cup also measures a 1/4 cup. The 1/4 cup also measures 1/8 of a cup.

As mentioned by another reviewer, the cups are made of a very sturdy and durable plastic (nylon). They're a lot lighter than metal measuring cups, but they feel substantial. The reviewer that complained about the quality of the clip (lets you keep the cups attached to each other and hang from a hook) has a valid point if keeping the cups attached to each other is important to you. The clip works fine if you want to use it to hang these measuring cups on a hook. The clip probably opens too easily if you use the measuring cups while they're attached to each other. I'm not in the habit of doing this, so I don't consider the clip a negative feature.

In case you're wondering if the tiers make the cups difficult to stack - not to worry. They stack great - just like most non-tiered measuring cups. There is one sacrifice that owner's of these measuring cups may feel they've made for the convenience of the tiers. Normal measuring cups seem a little easier to clean by hand (we don't have a dishwasher). Each tier in these measuring cups forms a ridge inside the cup that requires a little extra attention when it comes to hand cleaning messy ingredients. This is a small price to pay, in my opinion, and a dishwasher shouldn't have any problem.

Perhaps you can tell by the length of this review that I think these measuring cups are a hoot. You may not be able to fully appreciate them from a picture. Unfortunately, I haven't seen them in stores much. I think they're ingenious and the price is very reasonable when you compare them to metal measuring cups.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome set of measuring cups
This is the best set of measuring cups I have ever owned. They are actually fairly sturdy with significant weight compared to others I have used. I love the extra measurements on each cup, very handy and will often let you use one cup where you might have had to use two or three before. The black color is very attractive and durable, you can bet these will last a long, long time and always look great. Unlike other cups that quickly get beat up and battle-scarred. Very innovative design and highly recommended.

3-0 out of 5 stars Of my two sets, I like this one less.
I received two sets of measuring cups as wedding gifts and decided to keep both.I suppose you can never have too many, especially if you enjoy baking, as I do.

This set is well-constructed and lightweight, making it ideal for manouvering in sacks of loose rice and other weighty whole foods you may store in your home.It is also good for measuring messy foods like peanut butter or butter, since its surface is relatively unsticky, making it easy to dump into your mixing bowl *and* easy to clean afterwards.

One annoyance is that the cups sometimes fall off the little hook which keeps them together -- the hook is similar to clips which attach laptop case straps, but made loosely so that you can take it apart for cleaning or ease of use.My feeling is that the clip is made a bit *too* loosely, and the cups fall away from one another a bit too frequently during use.

I feel, in general, good about this measuring cup set...it's really quite functional and nice.I gave it three stars because it's not everything I dreamed of and more -- not exactly the Platonic Ideal of the measuring cup.I prefer my other set for its look, its stronger (but still flexible) hook and its, more satisfying weight in my hand. However, this set is excellent for basic use.

Recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bit a better Brita
They work; I have two, one outside the fridge 3qt (coffee, tea, cooking etc.)and one in 2qt (drinking water, diluting juice, etc). A few people have mentioned a some shortcomings or gripes; here's my take on those problems.
1)The top is made out of fragile plastic and breaks if you drop it. Yeah well it's made out of that kind hard plastic because it's easier to clean effectively. Soft plastic might bounce but it would be less effectively cleaned. No solution 'cept buy another before you break the one you have.
2)Someone wrote that when they clean their jug, every two months when they change the filter, they notice "pinky fungus stuff". See above... the jar was designed to be easily cleaned like ... er... weekly, daily, hourly ... take your pick. Then you wont have the pinky stuff problem .. perhaps you didn't realise but that pinky stuff causes brain deterioration ... you start buying valentines day stuff and barbie outfits all year round .. even big hairy guys slump to this. BE CAREFUUL!
3)The top on the 3qt model sticks then suddenly opens ... it's partly that hard plastic problem again .. just give the little top a quick flip up before you pour to break thewater "seal" caused by a sticky capillary attraction effect. Or just pull it off and let in odours and insects etc.
4)Filling the jug up to the top causes water to leak out over the sides YEP it does ... try filling up to the mark on the inside .. bowt a half inch down from the top.
5)The 3qt jug is awkward to hold. Yes it is if you have a small hand or holding 3 qts is a problem. The 2qt is the solution or the "box" style that you fill and put on a shelf (in the fridge say).
6)The water filters through very slowly. Yes it does, but I've discovered a way to speed it up! Pour in the water... keep the lid up .. put the lower half of your face over the top and exhale enthusiastically. If you've read this far the "pinky stuff" is getting to you. CHEERS!

2-0 out of 5 stars Good water filter but has flaws
I bought this model by looking at the reviews above when I got it home and started to use it I was disappointed with the cover when you pour the water out it does not pour smooth in fact the cover will either pop off or the water will splash out when being poured ending up on the floor. The digital change filter indicator is a joke it does not tell you if you have actually need to change the filiter it is like a calender and in 2 weeks a bar will be removed. The pitcher it self is very ackward to handle. The water is good but there is a after taste. The replacement filters are a little on the expensive side Not worth the money

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm in love with Brita
Our tap water smells something like a swimming pool.I used to drink it when I desperate.I know Brita doesn't really filter out the actual cholrine, but it is unbelievable how much the smell and taste of the water has changed. ... Read more
