Editorial Review

This chopper from Zyliss will make quick work of most small and medium chopping tasks, and, thanks to the unique comfort top, it won't bruise hands if lots of chopping is being done. The chopper stands 10-1/2 inches tall, with a 3-1/2-inch base, and is constructed of sturdy plastic and stainless steel, with a stainless-steel chopping blade. It's easy to use--just place the food in the base container and position the chopper snugly in the base. Then tap the top a few times until food is the desired size. The rustproof, stainless-steel blade rotates automatically after each tap. Since the chopping is contained in the base, the amount of mess is minimal. Also, the 1-cup base container comes with a lid for easy storing of chopped food. For simple cleanup, the sides of the chopper are hinged and the whole thing can go into the dishwasher. --A.J. 2-0 out of 5 stars yes, it chops, but not good with cleanup.
I was initially excited to use this product for chopping, but was disappointed with it in the end. (Luckily it was just a gift.) It does chop up items, but not without equalor greater effort that you might use to cut things on a cutting board. I tried to use walnuts, and they become lodged up in the blades. I honestly can't wedge them out now, so it's not easy to clean. A better option for efficient chopping: get a ulu (cutting board and knife/blade)and you can cut things quickly because you don't have to hold them and cleanup is easy.

5-0 out of 5 stars probably the most used gadget in my kitchen
I have had a lot of different choppers and not been pleased with any. This is the BEST! I use it daily, from garlic to onions to nuts.. you name it.. it goes in there. When I'm done I disassemble and throw it in the dishwasher. I have two and have not had a problem with either. If you want things in big chunks, you only press the plunger a couple times.. really fine, keep going. It does a wonderful job and no kitchen, in my opinion, should be without one.

2-0 out of 5 stars Wayyyy overpriced!
The first time I tried this chopper was in the middle of throwing a dinner party -- I was making salsa fresca and needed to chop lots of tomatoes, onions, and cilantro -- what a MESS!The chopper handles "crisp" things like apples and onions and raw potatoes okay (unfortunately, only in very small quantities, so it's usually more time-efficient to just do them by hand), but with anything slightly softer like tomatoes -- forget it.It's also sort of a pain to clean.I'd price this item at $5.99 and THEN consider recommending it! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars OXO HAS GREAT PRODUCTS!!!
OXO has a fabulous line of products, no matter where you purchase them. You will fall in love the first time that you use them, literally. I have so many products by OXO, you would think that I work for the company itself. Just the other day I found a Soft Grip Spatula by OXO at Target and I love it already. OXO can be expensive, but it is well worth it. I found there products to be very long lasting as well. I have measuring cups and spoons, mixing bowls with grips, tongs, and the actual set. I am trying to find other products as well. I did not know that Target carried OXO, now I can come to shop at Target. They are worth every penny. I have had my 9-pc. set for over 3-4 years now, it has yet to mess up. Great Buy!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wish I'd Known
When adding items to our wedding registry, I DID NOT ADD THIS SELECTION. Mostly because I already had a couple of spoons and spatulas. But, here it is more than a year after marriage and I am still adding individual pieces to my utensil drawer. I finally got around to buying a peeler last week (and it's an OXO brand peeler). I wish I would've known.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Quality
I received this as a wedding gift. The plastic items are top-notch, but the bladed items (except the potato peeler) are a bit on the dull side.Overall, however, great stuff. ... Read more

Editorial Review

This smaller version of George Foreman's famous "as seen on TV" Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine is perfect for preparing quick, low-fat meals for one or two people. The double-sided grill surface heats in less than five minutes to an even temperature perfect for grilling most foods. The high grill grooves and slight angle allow fat to run off the grill as food cooks, and the nonstick surface requires little or no additional fat for cooking. The plastic, grooved spatula works well to scrape off any bits that may have stuck to the surface.

Meats and fish are the obvious choices to take advantage of the Grilling Machine's fat-reduced grilling, but vegetables and tofu dogs work well too. The double-sided grill means food cooks twice as fast, leaves attractive grill marks, and generates surprisingly little smoke. --Julija Gelazis ... Read more

 • Interior wipes clean easily
 • 6-by-7-inch nonstick cooking surface
 • Great for grilling burgers, fish, vegetables

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this - buy a convection oven
I agree completely with Mr. Charles Tsen.Every thing he has written about this grill is right.I had the misfortune of buying this after reading all the hype about this useless appliance.I bougth it more than a year ago and promised myself that i would never use it again. It is ridiculosuly difficult to clean and you simply will never get the desired results. For all those people looking to get a great fat reducing machine, I would recommend that they should consider "Nesco American Harvest JS-4000TE Jet Stream Oven" from Amazon or any other site.I have been using this convection oven for the past 6-7 years and am extremely satisfied. One tip in prolonging the life of this convection oven is to use a fresh paper towel on the tray to absorb all the fat before using it.

5-0 out of 5 stars This grill is a Champ
Quick heat up means a quick meal. As a busy single,I find that I can put a potato in the microwave, plug in the grill, preheat, put the meat on the grill and be ready by the time the potato is cooked and a vegetable is put together.Clean up is simple thanks to the nonstick coating. I cook everything, including eggplant on this grill. It is a definite necessity in my kitchen.

5-0 out of 5 stars George Foreman where have you been all my life??
This is such an awesome little piece of kit and have recommended it to so many people! My five star review i guess also takes into condideration the price we paid. We go this when it was reduced to $14.99 and I doubt that, pound for pound, you could get a better kitchen gadget for that price.

As I had previously seen this on tv infomercials I was a little sceptical as I always am of these "gadgets", but this really has changed our kitchen lives. It heats up so fast and cooks very quickly and evenly (due to it cooking both sides at once). We really love the speed - its great to know that in four/five minutes you can have a perfect tuna-stek or porkchop without having to fire up the oven. It also frees up the oven to cook other things for your meal.

Its just big enough to cook two chicken breasts or two burgers, a porkchop or steak. But it can also be used for sausage links, bacon, vegetables and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Some people have mentioned they have real problems cleaning it up. Whilst yes it could be better but you literally just scrape off any excess and wipe it down. If you dont want to have to do that then you need to buy the one with removable plates but it would have cost us three times as much.

Be warned thought that the fat-collecting drip tray shouldnt be put in the dishwasher - we did and it melted part of it. ... Read more

Presto 02910 SaladShooter Electric Slicer/Shredder
by Presto
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Kitchen
-- our price: $35.36
(price subject to change: see help)
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

The SaladShooter makes a fabulous gift for those who like big, healthy salads loaded with veggies, homemade pizza with plenty of grated cheese, desserts topped with nuts or chocolate--find yourself in that portrait somewhere? Amazingly fast, the SaladShooter literally shoots out prepared food directly into a salad bowl or in neat piles for an assemble-your-own taco party. Featuring sharp stainless-steel cutting blades, the two interchangeable cones, one for shredding and one for slicing, each slip in and out of the main chute and are secured in place with a twist-lock ring. That’s all--no complicated parts to assemble. Food should be cut into blocks or lengths that fit into the food chamber, and a chart in the user guide specifies which cone to use for which foods. To operate, one hand grips the handle of the shooter and flips on the power switch, while the other hand presses down on the food guide to produce a steady output of shredded or sliced food. There’s no need to wash the parts in between processing different kinds of food, so shredded cheese, lettuce, carrots, and more are ready one after the other. All parts except the motor base can be washed in the dishwasher. The SaladShooter is not intended for grinding coffee or processing cranberries, tomatoes, or meats. Measuring 9-1/2 by 7 by 3-1/2 inches with a five-foot cord, the SaladShooter is covered by a two-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
My Mom had been looking for this item for ages, they no longer sell it in the store. She loves her so much, she thought it was better than getting jewlery for her birthday (she doesn't get out much :) ) I recomment this item to any one who wants to make shredding food a breeze.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not essential but very helpful
I only use my Salad Shooter for carrots and celery. It is true that celery strings get caught in the blades, but I found I could alleviate this quite a bit by pulling them off first like you're supposed to do.But usually I just cram them in since its so easy to clean up afterwards.Just open, run under water, pull out anything that's stuck and its done.I have used it a few times for cheese, but mostly I buy that already shredded.I use this nifty little machine several times a week.It makes finely chopped veggies that you can't duplicate easily by hand. And its quicker from the time I pick it up until the time I put it back than chopping things by hand alone. And its safer too. Also I find I use more carrots and celery than I would otherwise.Great for salads, of course, but also for adding celery to potato salad etc.You can also split raw zuccini into quarters and slice very thin pieces for salads or soups, something I wouldn't normally use because of all the bother. All in all, I have definitely gotten my money's worth. It definitely gets used often. It is very sturdily made and doesn't take up much space.I would highly recommend this machine for anyone who loves salads and especially for vegetarians.Enjoy.

2-0 out of 5 stars It cut the carrots okay, but not the vegetables I eat
I am so disappointed with the salad shooter. After reading the glowing reviews I decided to order it as I love eating vetetables, but hate cutting them. It was great cutting the carrots, but the celery got stuck even though I peeled it first. I tried red pepper and the shooter sliced a few pieces and then the red pepper kept spinning in the blade instead of being cut nicely into the salad bowl. It is even worse with an onion. I am returning it for a refund. ... Read more

Editorial Review

A brilliant innovation, this 2-cup measuring vessel is not round but oval. That means calibrations are printed on the cup's sides, as is conventional, as well as on a patented guide inside the cup that's angled so it can be read from above. The result is that this cup doesn't have to be held up--or bent down to--in order to determine how much liquid it contains. While Oxo guarantees satisfaction with a money-back guarantee, there's no reason to return this product. It's better than any other measuring cup. Moreover, it has a slip-resistant handle for when hands are wet, and it's made of rugged, dishwasher-safe plastic, with calibrations in both standard measurements and metric. --Fred Brack ... 5-0 out of 5 stars User-friendly kitchen gadget
I agree with the first reviewer that the OXO is a cleverly designed measuring cup! The stylish figure caught my eye at the store.Checking its form, I was very attracted to the ability to read the measure from above. With a special needs child in the family, on a restricted diet, we measure every single meal and beverage. It's so wonderful to no longer have to bend over, check the measure, pour a little liquid out, pour some more back in, etc., etc.

Sure, Pyrex cups are classic. I also own them. But their weight and bulk deter me from using them daily.Another reason I don't reach for them is that I'm plagued with weak wrists and chronic nerve pain. The OXO is not comparable to Pyrex. But if we are rating this nifty OXO cup for what it WAS INVENTED FOR (to measure liquids quickly and easily), I adore it. It gets used in our kitchen at least once per day. It's well balanced. The handle feels good in my grasp. More durable and user-friendly than others in this price range. To its credit, the OXO has done just fine with the hottest tap water and it has survived a few drops to the floor. Well worth the price I paid for it. In my opinion, this is a useful, every-day kitchen gadget for the busy non-gourmet. Definitely worth owning. Lastly, I'd like to second the notion that if OXO made a heat-safe glass version that weighed less than Pyrex, I'd buy it.OXO, my wrists thank you for focusing on ergonomic design!Keep up the good work.

1-0 out of 5 stars SHOULD HAVE BEEN, NEEDS TO BE, GLASS

This measuring cup was a great idea, except for its plastic construction. Plastic gives it several major drawbacks:

a.) You cannot put hot liquids into it.

b.) You cannot put it into a microwave (a little known fact: NEVER put any plastic container into a microwave, as plastic outgasses when heated and contaminates the food).

c.) It is too lightweight, top-heavy when filled and waaaay too easily knocked over.

We've gone back to our old Pyrex measuring cup. This one went into the garage sale pile.

OXO, build it out of glass, and we're there.

1-0 out of 5 stars Great idea, but sloppily manufactured
The markings along the side don't even match those seen from above. Not that this matters, because both are inaccurate. To the point that it can ruin a recipe for baked goods.

In short, it's a great idea, but this measuring cup is so sloppily manufactured that it's pretty much useless. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Buy the disposable mill & pepper in condiment section
It may be good for people with weak hands...as long as they don't really want a lot of pepper.I found the amount of pepper ground per squeeze minimal. My hand gets tired before I get an amount ground equivalent to two twists on a $2.59 self-contained pepper with disposable mill from the condiments section of any grocery store. Half of the pepper stays in the ball to fill the grinder teeth and further reduce the output.
Although advertised as a one hand pepper mill, it is best used as a two handed device. The squeezing action tends to broadcast the ground pepper over a wide area. If you wish to concentrate in a bowl or on a food item, one hand has to steady it over your target.
Refill is a challenge and equivalent time is spent picking up pepper corns that bounce off the small, almost perfectly hidden fill slot.
Again style overrides functionality.

These have got to be the best storage containers I have ever owned. Not to big that they don't fit in the cabnite but perfect for packing a lunch or that little bit of leftover from the night before.Unlike other reviews, I loved the sizes and the way they lock, you are sure that nothing is going to fall out.I need more......

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
My MIL bought these containers almost 2 years ago mainly for the biggest one so that we could store our wedding cake top. When our year anniversary came up it still tasted the same way it did on our wedding day, and it stood up to many power outages. We had a hurricane 3 months after our wedding and my in-laws were without power for 3 days and the container kept it fresh!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST STORAGE CONTAINERS!
I LOVE these containers.Be ready to hear how many I own ... over 150!!! (and still going)I have been using them for almost 2 years now and would never buy any other ones. I have them in almost every size (we have more variety in Canada given the Head Office is located here).

I use them mostly to store food. (But great for so many other things). They are perfect for lunches, leftovers and to keep frozen foods longer. My fridge and freezer are full of these little containers. Here's how I use them; Lets say I buy a pineapple, I'll cut it and store the ready-to-eat portions in 6 or 7 Lock 'n Lock containers, same goes with pre-washed/cut lettuce, cottage cheese, etc. I divide my food in portions, stack them in the fridge or freezer and I'm ready for the week ahead.Nicely stored, ready-to-eat, fresh food in the right serving size.Just grab and go.LOVE THEM!! Makes my life a whole lot easier.

I use the larger sizes for my flour, pasta, cereal, frozen veggies, chicken nuggets, etc.Everything is well stacked in my pantry and freezer, and my food stays fresh much longer. You won't be disappointed. ...
