4-0 out of 5 stars Nice looking, roomy, sturdy spoon rest...
Really nice, quality spoon rest with plenty of room for different sized cooking utensils. My only problem with it..and the reason I knocked off a star is..Amazon sent me a damaged one and it's not worth sending back. They really need to practice quality control..I've seen this complaint on many items and seriously wonder if they buy loads of "seconds" to make money...? It's a nice spoon rest however, and worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it!
This is THE best spoon rest!It will accommodate any cooking utensil -- large or small.I use it every day.It goes into the dishwasher and comes out looking shinny and new.It sits on my counter next to the stove, looks great and is always ready for use.I'm going to order three more for Christmas presents.A truly great product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect design and function
This is an excellent item!First I like that it is stainless steel so that if anything gets stuck on it you can just *brillo* is off.The stainless finish makes it very arractive and so much better looking than most kitchy-looking spoon holders.Altho this is more of a utensil holder...its big.Its a great fit for wooden spoons, the heat-resistant spatulas, large spoons..etc.It will even accomodate ladles altho they pretty much rest on it, as opposed to rest in it.

This unit is sturdy and weighty. It doesnt move around or tip when you put on a utensil.I have put it in the dishwasher with no problem.

This would be an excellent item for someone setting up a kitchen, a kitchen themed gift basket, or a kitchen themed housewarming gift.

It's really an excellent item ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars AMAZING!!!
I love this hand mixer!Don't go out any buy yourself the big kitchenaid mixer. This one does everything you need it to, doesn't take as much room, and doesn't require an army to lift. Happy baking!

5-0 out of 5 stars Skip cheap imitators with fancy gadgets
When we got married 7 years ago, we were given a hand mixer of another brand (Sunbeam, I think) that had seven (or was it nine?) speeds and lots of different attachments (dough hook, wisk, etc., none of wich worked well).I have a hard time remembering exact spefications because it died after 6 months, and I hadn't even mixed anything heavy with it!I always mixed most of my flour into things by hand to try to spare the motor (my mom had burnt through several mixers).
So we went to the store, and for $30 we could get another cheap brand with many speeds and fancy gadgets (several brands & models available), or we could get this Kitchenaid with one set of beaters and three speeds.I chose this simple Kitchaid and have never been sorry.
This little hand mixer takes it all--even stiff cookie dough like roll-out sugar cookies. And it mixes every last bit of the flour in.Beaters don't clog, dough mixes up smooth.
I plan on someday getting a bigger kitchenaid, but so far haven't needed it.If you are on a budget, and need to get the most power for your penny, this is the best purchase you could possibly make!

Squeezing the handle on this inexpensive, one-handedflour sifter activates the six-arm sifting mechanism soeasily, it's a joy to use. Made of plastic with a steelscreen, the 2-1/2-cup sifter is lightweight, durable,dishwasher-safe, and a boon to any cook or baker. --FredBrack ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
When my favorite sifter finally wore out after years of use, I was happy to find an identical one still available. However, I quickly found out that it only looked the same. The spring mechanism was too weak to allow the sifting blades to return to position after squeezing the handle when using more than a half cup or so of flour. After less than a dozen uses, the plastic part which attached the spring to the blade broke.Unfortunately, it appears as though Kaiser has instituted the same sort of "cost takeout" process used by many companies to maximize profits at the expense of quality.

2-0 out of 5 stars Plastic...
This can be a good sifter if only Kaiser does not use plastic for the movable parts... alas, mine can be jammed easily if I fill the cup to half its height and the reason is because the plastic "stick" that links the squeezing handle and the rotary can be bent pretty easily.

I would say that if you only want to sift a small amount of confectioners' sugar onto pastries, then this sifter is fine. However, I personally would not recommend this sifter over any others I have used. (i.e., get something else...)

1-0 out of 5 stars Not impressed
This sifter is so small.I bake a lot of cakes and need to sift
confectioners sugar into my bowl. This does not hold a box of sugar. Also, if you put too much sugar in it, it jams.It can get very tiring on the hand. ... Read more

Non-Stick Rolling Pin
by Sanyei-Hong Kong
Average Customer Review: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Kitchen
list price: $9.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France
Reviews (4)

1-0 out of 5 stars VERY Bad Design
First of all, bread, pie, and cookie dough stuck to this rolling pin just like it did to a wooden one.I had to oil it and flour it to prevent sticking. And as the other reviewer stated, I saw no difference.

But the worst thing was, it became unusable only after a few uses!
From the both ends of the pin, where white plastic and non-stick black area meet, rust started seeping out.I noticed this when it left an orange streak on my bread dough. At first I thought maybe I didn't wash it carefully enough and some dough was left in the crack (which would be a bad design too). But orange substance kept coming out even after a careful washing. That's when I figured it must be a rust coming out from inside the rolling pin!

I would consider this a health hazard.Had I not discarded the box, I would definitely send this back to the manufacturer.

3-0 out of 5 stars good for rolling, pain to clean
I bought this yesterday, after my wood rolling pin split down the middle.this worked pretty well..... dough didnt stick NEARLY as much as with my old wood rolling pin, but it didn't clean up very well.water got inside the pin, and now it looks like it is rusting inside.and there are NO instructions of any kind for special care, so I dont know if I did something wrong.but that's become a real pain.

2-0 out of 5 stars Did NOT work for me...
I purchased this item based on the one positive review that was already here on Amazon.[com]I was hoping to find something that would make rolling out the Christmas cookie dough less frustrating for me!In the past I have used my traditional wooden rolling pin and have had to coat it with flour over and over again.Well, there was NO difference between the performance of this "non-stick" rolling pin and my old wooden one!!I practically had this thing covered in flour and the dough was still sticking like crazy. The one positive thing about this is that it does seem easier to clean than the wooden one.I will definitely be returning this and sticking (no pun intended) to my old wooden rolling pin. ... Sabatier Precision 14-Piece Stainless-Steel Knife Block Set
by Sabatier
Average Customer Review: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Kitchen
list price: $110.00
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

You won't be missing a single cutting tool with this 14-piece cutlery block set from Sabatier. It contains a 3-1/2-inch paring knife, an 8-inch chef knife, an 8-inch slicer, an 8-inch bread knife, a 6-inch boning knife, six 5-inch steak knives, a pair of kitchen shears, a sharpening steel, and a 14-slot block to keep them in. The knives are made from high-carbon stainless steel, which is the industry standard, and have full tangs, meaning that the steel goes all the way through the handle. These knives feel a little lighter than professional quality sets, and won't hold the same razor-sharp edge, but for those looking for a complete starter set these will work just fine. The shears are a nice bonus when cutting through bones or joints, and they'll cut through bags and boxes and do a fine job of snipping herbs into a sauce. The sharpening steel helps to keep the blade true, and the block keeps tools handy and protected. --Maria Dolan

These knives are pure junk! I bought 2 sets and have thrown both of them out already. It says they are stainless but the do rust. Also, they don't hold an edge and are almost impossible to sharpen.Don't waste your money.Save up a little more and get a decent set on sale at at kitchen store.

1-0 out of 5 stars Hard to sharp
This set looks nice on the screen, the blades are thick and very hard to sharp. The sharpener that comes with the set is practically useless.I won't recomend this set to any one

2-0 out of 5 stars too dull
straight edge knives were very dull, and they don't take a sharpening well or keep it past one good use.

This giant-size cookie cutter can be used for much more than standard cookie shaping, although its giant width, at almost 5 inches, is perfect for occasions when you want to wow your guests with The Big Cookie. Stainless-steel sides are sturdy enough to make great stencils for the kids, as well as molds for Jello or even homemade soap or candles. The squishy rubber gripper is helpful for folks with arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome, but the large size is still tricky for young kids. With this charming star and its gently rounded edges, you can create a whole constellation of yummy treats. There's even a recipe included. --Jill Lightner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Works like a dream
This is just what I needed for grinding spices and herbs.I'd been using a suribachi (a ridged mortar for grinding sesame seeds) and the result was a lot of spice caught in the spaces between ridges. With the classic mortar and pestle, there's nothing to interfere with the process. The heavy pestle grinds up spices quickly and efficiently, and the mortar wipes or rinses clean immediately. If you've never ground your own flavorings, do try. It's fun and it allows you to get the benefit of all the oils you release as you grind. It's particularly good for saffron because you can buy whole saffron threads so there's no chance it's been adulterated.

Highly recommended for the more hands-on cook. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Large, Heavy Duty
I'm a big guy and I like big and heavy duty kitchen gadgets. These didn't disappoint in that regard.

The can opener appears well built. However, the drive wheel has very shallow teeth that slip on the can even though the sharp cutting wheel requires little drive effort to penetrate the metal can top.Squeezing the handles with a very firm grip mostly overcomes this problem with only a little residual slippage, but that eliminates the expected advantage of a large can opener with a lot of leverage. The opened can lid seems much sharper than those produced from my inexpensive and functional Swing-Away can opener. On the very first can I opened, I brushed a finger tip against the edge of the lid and received a very deep cut.The Swing-Away can opener I had been using apparently produces more of a cut & rolled edge that seems much less dangerous.

The whisk handle is comfortable and it works well.I think I prefer a lighter whisk with a hollow handle and I definitely prefer a completely smooth surface that's easier to clean. The Kitchenaid logo has molded and recessed features that require a little extra cleaning effort.

The peeler works well. The large handle is easy to grip (I have large hands), but it does take up a lot of space in the gadget drawer. The clip on plastic blade cover is a nice touch to keep the blade from banging into other gadgets and nicking them or dulling, but I wonder how many minutes it'll be before I lose the plastic cover.

The spatula is well designed and well built. The silicone rubber is slightly harder than a Rubbermaid commercial spatula I had, but it oozed silicone oil and was discarded. This spatula is soft enough to flex as needed, but probably not so soft that it'll ooze silicone.Again, I'd like a smooth handle that was as easy to clean as possible.Decent marks here, but the molded Kitchenaid logo again requires a little extra effort to clean.

The grater is nice and heavy duty.No complaints.

The ice cream scoop is solid and well built. The surface polish is mirror smooth. However, with hard ice cream, the ice cream spade (sold separately) works better with much less effort.Even with the spade, scooping frozen ice cream is a bit awkward and requires a lot of force. This scoop will require hard ice cream to be microwaved to soften it before it can be scooped.I have an old commercial Hamilton Beach ice cream scoop with the completely hemispherical thin walled stainless scoop and a ratcheting thumb mechanism that drives a band inside the scoop to release the ice cream. It scoops hard ice cream more easily and releases it more easily than the pretty new Kitchenaid ice cream scoop.

Overall, these are large and heavy duty tools that are certainly well made.I don't think durability will be an issue. Some of the tools could have been designed a bit better.A+ for materials and workmanship.A- to C- for the various pieces for ergonomics and functional design. This set is good, but for the price it should be very good.It wasn't quite up to the very high standards I have come to expect from Kitchenaid.

I'd probably be more charitable, but the half inch gash on the end of my left middle finger makes typing this review a bit painful. At least it finally stopped bleeding whenever I flexed my finger.I'll be more careful with the Kitchenaid can opener.

5-0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid 5-Piece Gadget Set, Blue
I bought the 5-piece set at a JC penneys when i lived in Florida and paied more than $24.99. This set is great and i'm happy with all the tools. The can openner is the best, no more electric ones for me. The handles are confortable to hold and you get a good tight grip with out hurting you hand. The ice cream scoop will not bend like some many i have used before. The peeler & whisk are the best i ever used. The scraper is really made for Kitchenaid Stand mixer bowls and is quite long so you might want to buy a smaller Kitchenaid scraper for regular bowls but this works well. Only tool i did not get was the grader but i have bought it from Kitchaid.com with other cobalt blue gargets this christmas cause they are offering free shipping and 25% off total order with code "Holiday04" until christams.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kitchenaid tools rock in my kitchen!
For a number of years I had always purchased the cheap kitchen tools, accessories from the local dept. stores. It's true that you get what you pay for. When I received this set (I purchased the one in blue) I was very pleased with the overall quality of each individual item.I would recommend this for anyone that has ever bought those cheap plastic spatulas, the cheap metal cheese graters that are difficult to clean and always end up rusting and those cheap wire whisks that end up rusting also. You will get more than your monies worth out of this set. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Design flaws disappoint
I bought this garlic press because of the Kitchenaid name and because I got tired of processing so many cloves of garlic with just a chef's knife. When we got it, my husband (who shares cooking duty) was delighted at how it felt in his hands and at how much time it saved him.I was disappointed with the size - a little too large for my average-size female hands. Design flaw #1.I rallied and continued to use it (with both hands) for about a year and a half.Yesterday, the handle cracked and broke off.The metal portion of the press does not extend down the handle. Design flaw #2.I was pressing one small clove so I'm sure the break was not due to misuse.I'm going to follow the America's Test Kitchen recommendation and get a Zyliss next time.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best garlic press!
After years of using garlic presses that just don't seem to measure up, I decided to spend a little extra money and get the KitchenAid press. This was money well spent! It's the best press I've ever owned and for once I feel like I am really getting the most out of my garlic! And it's easy to clean too. It's a little heavier than most, but that's okay with me - it does the job it's supposed to.

Le Creuset's brightly colored, virtually indestructiblesilicone spatulas created a buzz when they were first introduced. Nowthis set combines six red ones in a complementary stoneware storagecrock. Thehandsome red crock stands 5-7/8 inches high, and its flared mouth is 5inches in diameter, providing plenty of room for tools other than thespatulas. 4-0 out of 5 stars You probably don't need all of these!
I bought this set about three years ago and I simply would not cook without them. I am as enthusiastic as other reviewers who have given this set five stars, except that I only really use two out of the six pieces.

If I had to do it over, I would buy the very attractive pot and three each of the medium sized spoonula and the small spatula. I simply do not use the others. They are gathering dust as we speak.

Now if your cooking is a bit different than mine, you may have different needs, but I cook or bake four or five times a week, and I simply do not use 2/3 of this set. And, it is only the spoonula which gets used in high heat environments.

For room temperatures, I often find more use for a spatula which is a lot stiffer than these silicone plastics.

I recommend you find some way of buying only the pot and six of the medium spoonulas! Even these wear out from small nicks and cuts over time, and you do not want to find yourself without one at hand.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Starter Set
I bought this same set at an outlet mall (much better price, but same product).

They are very well built and have stood up to just about anything I can throw at them from heat to various sauces. They have never melted, scorched or stained so far! Even though they have wood handles, there is a protective finish that keeps them from staining. I did place one through the dishwasher (not recommended) and it came out fine too.

They have replaced all of my miscellaneous pieces I have had laying around and now I have an attractive addition to my kitchen as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the wait...
I saw this set in the blue on Amazon just before Christmas for the amazing price of $34.99. Knowing how much these normally are I quickly ordered them and was told they were on backorder and would be shipped to me when they were available. For that price, I would wait as long as it took to get them! I finally got them early February and they are worth the wait. I have used them everyday since receiving them and I wonder how I did without them. I wish I'd ordered my mother a set at the same time I ordered my set. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Opening the oven to check on a food's temperature means wasting the cook's time and losing oven temperature and moisture--not to mention a face full of steam. This thermometer prevents those problems. Insert the instrument's 6-inch stainless-steel probe into a roast beef or turkey and monitor the time and temperature (from 32 to 392 degrees F) on the thermometer's large digital display, which connects to the probe with a 4-foot cord. The control panel sets cooking time and temperature, and an alarm sounds when either is reached. Fully opened, the thermometer/timer is 5 inches high, but it folds flat for compact storage. Magnets on the back permit it to be temporarily mounted on a metal surface. --Fred Brack ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Very handy, not very sturdy
It's all true.A digital thermometer is an indespensible tool for the kitchen. This one works great for a while, and then starts giving erroneous results, so beware.

The digital timer feature is handy, although not very well done.It makes a raucous noise when you turn it on.And setting the time is a bit inconvenient as you can't reduce the amount of time.

Although the metal wire and probe and temperature alarm feature might make you think you can leave the probe in your food while it's cooking, DON'T.The probe will conduct heat into the middle of your food much faster than the meat will, and so the meat around the probe will get cooked and the probe will tell you (totally accurately) that the meat is done, it's only referring to the meat right next to the very hot probe. The rest of your meat is not yet cooked.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great tool, just don't get it wet
I've had this model of thermometer for a couple of years now and have really come to rely on it. I use it for everything from baking bread to deep frying french fries. It's a sturdy tool provided that you remember two things:

1) The body of the thermometer is not heat or water proof, so be careful where you stick it.

2) The probe is not water proof, so be careful not to submerge it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Died after a year
I loved this but I have to give it the poor review because it stopped working. It didn't get too hot or anything.Just started reading far hotter then correct temperature. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Gone are the days of clattering baking pans when the household baker is at work. This professional-level silicone bakeware is quiet and so flexible that it folds up for storage in tight spaces. Made of FDA-approved food-grade silicone, this large (10-1/2-by-6-3/8-by-1-1/3-inch), six-cup muffin pan is oven-safe to 428 degrees Fahrenheit and provides even heat distribution so your sweet-looking bran muffins comes out moist and delicious. The pan is nonporous and won’t retain the odors or flavors of your food after cooking. This bakeware also has a high-gloss nonstick finish on its interior for easier removal of your baked goods and faster cleanup. And, if that’s not enough, this cake mold cools down faster than traditional bakeware and is also microwave-, freezer- (down to 58 degrees Fahrenheit), and dishwasher-safe. 4-0 out of 5 stars Wayyyy cute!
While I agree that the pan isn't very non-stick, after some testing, I pressed the regular round paper liners into the heart shape.I didn't overfill the muffin cups, and they were TOTALLY cute! They were a big hit at both the preschool and the office. They're a little smaller, so a regular 24 cupcake recipe makes more like 32 extremely cute cupcakes.I have 2 pans, am thinking of getting 2 more to speed the baking.

2-0 out of 5 stars NOT Non-stick
The very first set of muffins I made in this pan stuck horribly.I ended up with half of each muffin stuck in the pan.For cookware that claims to have a non-stick surface this was less than impressive.I received this pan as a Christmas gift (and it took over six weeks to finally arrive) and I am highly disappointed

4-0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous, cute, but...
The red is rich and gorgeous, the muffins produced are cute as anything. But they are pretty small, larger than mini-muffins, but smaller than any other muffin I have ever seen. Also, this silicone seems thinner than other pans I have and just a bit less "non-stick."It makes for easier folding, but also distorts the muffins a bit when you remove them from the pan.My grandkids LOVE the little muffins. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars A Real Disappointment

I, like others, bought this brush on the reputation of the KitchenAid name. It is the only KitchenAid item I've ever bought that I was disappointed with. It is truly not worthy of the KitchenAid name. A very flimsy brush that disappoints from the first use.

1-0 out of 5 stars Melted
My yellow Kitchenaid baster brush bristles melted the first time I used it.I was so chagrined and inexperienced with cooking that I thought I did something wrong, so I was afraid to send it in for a replacement.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good brushes!
Unlike some of the other reviewers, my Kitchenaid brushes have not melted. I have used them for basting turkey, pie crusts, bbq and pretty much anything else I can think of to baste. The brushes do stain though, if you use them with a dark sauce and do not clean them or submerge them in water right away. I have not experienced any bristles falling out either. My brushes have lasted over 6 months of fairly heavy usage with no major setbacks- I am very pleased. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Fiestaware was first introduced in 1936 and remained popular throughout the '40s, '50s, and '60s, prized for its art deco design, colorful glazes, and smart accessories such as creamers, vases, pitchers, and candlesticks. Fiestaware was reissued in 1986 to mark the 50th anniversary of the line and is popular today for the same reasons: bold colors, great styling, à la carte piece selection for a personalized set--and now a 100 percent lead-free glaze for better health. Today's Fiestaware is available in over 10 colors, so you can collect pieces in one color or pursue a mix-and-match effect with pieces of assorted colors. The thin shape of this butter dish fits easily in the built-in butter compartment of an average-size refrigerator, and its smart, streamlined appearance adds retro flair to a casual dining room or kitchen table. --Emily Wolf ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great butter dish!
First of all, to those fellow purple lovers out there, this is a gorgeous shade of purple! It's the deep blue/red purple, not that new brownish raisin type that is prevalent. That said, this is a wonderful little butter dish.I've had mine for quite some time now and it's taken quite a beating from a toddler and still looks new.The knob on top makes it especially nice and easy to use.The bottom is large and rounded so that the butter doesn't fall off, but it's still small enough to fit in the butter compartment of your fridge. This is a great product and very pleasing to view as well.I mix mine with my Longaberger dishes too and it fits in beautifully. It washes up quite fine in the dishwasher as well (I use the top rack).

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical as well as pretty
I've wanted a butter dish with a handle on the lid for a long time- somehow I tend to drop and break lids without a handle to grip, thus leaving myself with a collection of butter dish bottoms. I purchased this in tangerine and am really happy with it. Not too cutesy, but colorful and practical. I'm trying to figure out how to justify a few more colors...

5-0 out of 5 stars Better Butter Dish
Fiestaware ROCKS.A few years back, I started my Fiestaware collection. The butter dish, in turquoise, was a recent addition.I like the vibrant colors available which allow for a cheerful, eclectic mix or a more coordinated theme. It is of the highest quality and very durable in the oven as well.I am going to put glass doors on my cabinets to showcase my Fiestaware because not only is it practical and beautiful, they are individual pieces of art! ...
