    1-0 out of 5 stars multi-purpose saw
This saw description makes you think you can do things that it is not up to doing. We returned ours. Only good for balsa wood or any verylight weight material. I cannot rate it because I was disappointed in its performance.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disposable but comes with batteries
I actually use this thing ALL the time. It's super light-weight and handy for all sorts of SMALL projects. So why only 2 stars?

First, the manufacturer claims that you can scroll cut 1-inch and cut up to 2-inch wood. They have got to be kidding.About the most I would recommend would be 3/8" wood.1/8" to 1/4" is more its comfort zone. The batteries wouldn't even last through cutting a single 2-by-4 (which is only 1-1/2" on a side) assuming you had the patience.Yes, I have a big recip saw.

Cutting anything large you will run into its first serious flaw.If you break a blade off, most likely, you cannot remove the broken-off part.Trust me, I took the entire thing apart, cut, pounded, and filed before I realized this. Thus, my first one went in the trash after about 3 uses.Lesson: You have to be especially sensitive to blade dimensions. For example, the DeWalt blades (ironically = Black and Decker) are a few thousandth's thicker and won't ever come out if you break them off. This leaves you with trying to find blades on the small side.

Starting with my second one of these tools, I have been especially careful about blades, but I have not found a good manufacturer of undersized shank blades. As a result, I go through blades like crazy.

The next major flaw with this tool is that the gearbox is a simple worm gear with a peg in it.Sawdust and especially drywall dust will mix in with the grease in the gear and jam it up.Then it's take-apart time, again.

Another weakness is that the safety is much more difficult to press than the trigger. It's also in an awkward position which causes a lot of fatigue and sore hands.I remove the trigger on mine which is significantly more dangerous, but significantly less difficult to use.

Finally, like all the VersaPak tools, the batteries do have memory and only last a few years.

As a result, after using several of these for several years, I give it 2 stars. It is an incredibly handy tool, but unfortunately, no one makes a quality "micro-SawZall" which is what this really is.The saving point for this otherwise poor product is that it comes with 2 batteries which are worth about twenty bucks, so the real cost of this tool is also about twenty bucks which is a little more consistent with its durability.

4-0 out of 5 stars For it's intended purpose, it's great
IF you use this tool for its intended purpose, it works perfectly. We call this a "drywall tool" and it is mainly used for cutting outlet boxes in drywall, but also for light cutting duties like door framing, small crafts works (we used it to build a bird box), and other assorted items. I don't think the claim by the manufacturer that it is for outdoor use with trees and branches is very valid though - it is a reciprocating saw, and moves the branches too much while cutting. The batteries seem to work fine and hold their charge, at least until you start to punish the saw with heavier, thicker woods, then it peters out. We used this saw once to cut patterns in some shelving wood that was pretty thick, and halfway through the job we had to switch to a corded jig saw to finish the job.

It is light, easy to handle, and for its intended uses (drywall, small wood cutting, detail cutting) it is pretty much perfect. ... Read more

Hoover S2211100 Brush Vac Cordless Vacuum
Average Customer Review: 3.5 out of 5 stars

    list price: $59.99

    Editorial Review

Ideal for apartments and quick household cleanups, this lightweight, cordless, rechargeable broom vacuum captures dirt in a chamber rather than a bag, cleans both carpets and bare floors, and can be stored on a wall-mounted recharging rack (included). To drive the brush roll, the 10-inch head has a motor separate from the suction motor, and the head's window permits monitoring of brush roll operation. For bare-floor cleaning, the brush roll shuts off. Emptying the dirt chamber is easy, and a filter inside the chamber may be brushed clean or washed. The brush roll can be cleaned easily, but if its belt wears out, it must be replaced by a professional. Power comes from long-life nickel-cadmium batteries that can also be replaced by a professional. The vacuum lies flat for cleaning under furniture, weighs less than 5 pounds, assembles with two screw-nut sets (included), stands 44-1/2 inches high, and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... 5-0 out of 5 stars you get what you'd expect
I think you get what you'd expect from a machine like this. It isn't a powerful Dyson product, but it does a great job picking up the majority of visible stuff off our bathroom area rugs and the berber in our bedrooms. I like to use it to run over the rug before someone stops by or pick up a chunk of something my kids just spilled on the floor. Then i can pull out the big vaccuum down the road, but this takes care of it in the meantime.
    i'd buy mine again.

5-0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL
I cannot imagine why this vacuum is no longer available.I bought mine for $35 about four years ago.The charge lasts beyond a quick ?1000 sq ft area.I don't have to sweep or dust mop I just vacuum. It picks up everything. At about 700 sq ft I have to empty the dirt but the charge lasts longer. It's four years now so I am having a little problem with suction.I t probably needs a cleaning but a replacement @ $35 even $50 would be expected.I've certainly gotten my $$$ worth

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Vac
This has been the greatest little vacuum I have ever had. It picks up hair and even little rocks. Great for a quick pick up. Great on carpet , small throw rugs, and even bare floors! I can't say enough. I love it so much I plan to buy more for Christmas presents.

The Panasonic KXTG2560S represents the next generation in cordlesstelephones. Using spread spectrum frequency transmission, this cordless deliversextended calling range, noticeably enhanced clarity, and increased security.

Operating on two different bands, 2.4 GHz on the base and 900 MHz on thehandset, the KXTG2560S provides superior sound quality and lack of echo over afar greater range than its predecessors. In addition, frequency hopping helpsthis unit resist interference from devices sharing similar bands, such asmicrowaves. Enhanced security is another useful benefit. 3-0 out of 5 stars Best phone ever...then "the out of range" problem
I'll get straight to the point here:
1.No problems working the phone; keys intutitive, slight learning curve
2.It does have its quirks like keys that slip...just use it a while dialing and the "slick" gives way to a sure touch
3.Unrivaled ruggedness...it was dropped off a two story balcony onto grass. The person was still on the line.
4.Great range (see point number 3)
5.Battery good, not great, but acceptable.
6.Long life (had it working for 5 years with NO problems)

Now the bad part and it's only one thing, but a fatal one.
After 5 years of no problems, I finally got the infamous "out of range" error. After looking high and low for a solution, most everyone out there that experienced this problem had their phones replaced or they trashed them.
I had to trash mine. When speaking to Panasonic reps, they were quite surprised, at least it seemed to me, that the phone had lasted this long. But it was WAY beyond warranty and nothing could be done.
I ultimately tried shorting it out...sort of a hard reset, but to no avail.

Overall, I loved this phone. It was wonderful. But of course I can't give it anything higher than 3 stars because ultimately it broke when I didn't want it to.But I'm glad I got 5 years out of it.What more, really, could anyone ask for given our current state of disposable electronics?

1-0 out of 5 stars Poorly Designed -- Stay Away
Here is why I rate this phone so poorly:

1.Hard to use number pad.The "press" action requires significant pressure and the surface is slippery as well. So, I often end up dialing the same digit twice.I call many different international numbers and it is so frustrating to redial 15 digits again. :(

2.The User Interface of the entire software (Redial, Memory, Directory, etc.) is very poorly designed. It does not even have a "redial" button.

3.I often hear crackle in the signal.(Although this could be me wireless router interfering with the signal).

I was very happy with my previous Panansonic phones. But never again I am buying one without actually getting a hands-on experience with the phone. This seems to be a growing trend with electronics these days - prices are falling and quality is getting worse.I would advise you to stay away from this model.

2-0 out of 5 stars Panasonic Must Get Kickbacks on Their Batteries
    *-*-*-*-*
Would be a great phone (4 Stars) except for a FATAL FLAW.Does Panasonic get kickbacks from battery manufacturers?

***OH*** Panasonic makes ITS OWN batteries.

BEWARE the manual's advice that this phone "may be always kept on the charging base." Its batteries are NICADs! NiCads have memories!!! So be sure to leave the phone off the charger until it requires recharging. Otherwise your battery will last only a month or two (I am totally serious---happened to me).

If you're lucky and the battery dies at the 29-day stage, AND you have every single plastic bag, twist-tie, styrofoam piece, receipt etc., take the ENTIRE unit back to the store and they have to exchange it. The store won't just give you a new battery. After 30 days, a replacement battery will cost you $20 & up. "Ching"

PS I called Panasonic and guess what? Everybody complains about this. And I thought America wasn't full of geeks. Good work everyone, now--if we can just get the MFR to improve their product.

    Bought*******Fry's Electronics

Lasted*******Twoish years so far. Am aiming for the sky here...

    Range*******Great. No static.

Durability*****Drop-resistant if you have carpets, else resist.
Buttons never wear out or through that I have seen. (Unit gives out before buttons do.)

    Speakers*****Fine, both in-ear and speakerphone.
    ***Great feature---handset has own speakerphone, stands up nicely on flat hard surface as long as you don't touch it;
***Poor feature ---like most phones these days does not fit comfortably against my ear & lacks any but minimal curve, whichmars hand-holding in my opinion.

Caller-ID*****Is some proprietary version you have to payadditional for.

Placement****One version hangs on the wall; its handset can be placed facing either in OR out and still charge, i.e. foolproof.

Flash********This feature won't disconnect the line, makingmultiple redialing (to win those tickets or speak with Rush Limbaugh) more not less difficult.

    Maybe that's GOOD!

5-0 out of 5 stars A wireless wonder
I have to admit I was a little wary of getting a cordless mouse. I had heard from colleages and friends alike that the battery life on these things was horrendous, and that the reception wasn't all the great either. Of course little did I know they were referring to the older models, rather than the less expensive and more reliable versions around today. Of these newer models, the Logitech Cordless Wheel Mouse has got to be one of the best I've seen. The battery life is great, and the reception is spectacular. I've used my mouse from across the room on several occasions, although the practicality of that was up for debate since I couldn't see what I was clicking. But hey, I did it because I could, not because I should. Even beyond the technical aspects of the mouse, its high marks continue on to the design, fitting very comfortably in either hand. While the mouse isn't as small as other mice, its by no means large. One last thing that makes this mouse particularly sweet, is that it only takes two AAA batteries, which are included.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm in loooooooove! Finally, a mouse I adore
Did you ever consider how IMPORTANT the mouse is? This is the interface to your computer. Along with the keyboard, this is how you access your information. How good your mouse is will determine the comfort level of using your computer.

I noticed I was getting wrist pain from excessive mouse use. I switched to the cordless Logitech mouse and I never EVER want to use another kind of mouse. I tried the optical mouse (tracks on any surface) but the cordless mouse was far, far better. One reason is that the lack of the "tail" on the mouse means you have complete freedom of movement along the mouse pad. You never hold your wrist at a strange or strained angle to accommodate the cord getting stuck or pulling on the mouse. For gaming (we like Age of Kings) it really does the job. Agile, fast and snappy.

I added a very good ergonomic gel mouse pad and I noticed a huge difference in my comfort using the computer. I recommend adding an ergonomic mouse pad for anyone who uses their computer a lot.

The only downside to the cordless mouse is that you do need to keep a supply of AAA batteries in your desk for when they run out. Or your mouse will be dead in the water, so to speak. This is a small price to pay for cordless ease.

Another potential downside for you is if you have large hands. I have average sized hands and this mouse is just right. But I know someone with extra large hands and he finds this mouse a bit small. So if you find you get hand cramps because you have very big hands and most computer mice are too small, this one may not be the one for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Cordless Pal
I am a grandmother and I ABSOLUTELY love this cordless mouse.During playing a card game online I can put the mouse on my knee and play away.It tells you when the battery is low.I have replaced them twice in a year and the last time was just a couple weeks ago.I wish we had these at work because of their movability and comfort.Everyone should have one. ... Logitech Cordless iTouch Keyboard with Cordless Mouse
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars
    Electronics
    list price: $99.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

If you're feeling tethered to your desk because of your computer, Logitech offers a great solution. The cordless desktop iTouch can make working as comfortable as watching television in your recliner.

The cordless desktop iTouch comprises a wireless keyboard and mouse along with a radio-frequency receiver. After installing the software, you press the connect buttons on the receiver, keyboard, and mouse, and then you're on your way to wireless computing. Because the receiver doesn't use infrared signals, which require line of site between the devices, you don't have to point the mouse or keyboard in its direction, letting you type or click even if you're positioned at odd angles. The keyboard works even when you're seated at a 180-degree angle from your computer, though that's probably not the most efficient position for typing.

Along with the freedom to move about the room, the cordless desktop iTouch system offers a number of time-saving features. The keyboard, which provides a nice, responsive click, has a set of Internet keys in the top right corner. You can set these up to provide one-click access to your e-mail program and designated Web sites. You can also use these buttons to access applications such as Microsoft Word. The button with the crescent moon shape on the top left corner of the keyboard calls up the Windows shutdown menu.

The mouse features a scroll button, which is ideal for navigating Web pages and large spreadsheets. You can also set the mouse buttons to perform other functions, such as HyperJump, which provides one-click access to such Windows features as the Start menu and the last active window.

The cordless desktop iTouch includes music jukebox software called Virtuosa. Buttons at the top of the keyboard let you control the track sequence and volume without having to open up Virtuosa in a separate Window.

Logitech's cordless desktop iTouch is an outstanding product: it's easy to set up, offers a number of quick-access features, and won't cause conflicts with the keyboard and pointing device on a notebook. Find a spot on your couch and start typing. --John Frederick Moore

1-0 out of 5 stars Mouse jams if using two systems
Both keyboard and mouse are good, however, I just got a second system to use with the computer in the room next door (the two systems are just separated by a thin wall) and the mice "jam" each other if used at the same time (move a mouse and both systems "freeze" on the screen, very annoying). I've followed the instructions on the logitech support site to reinstall the systems (take out batteries, press button on receiver for 15 secs., install one system, wait at least 20 mins., install the second system), but the problem doesn't go away. Contacted two service reps via e-mail over the past 10 days but they just re-sent the info that's available on the site. Very disappointing, I'm junking one system now.

4-0 out of 5 stars You pay for "almost " perfect.
Logitech makes great products and by in large, this one is no exception.Assuming you have the right placement of the transmitter to eliminate interference from your monitor etc... it is a fast and easy set up.The keyboard is light, but you have to hit the keys a bit harder than I would like and its noisy. The mouse works well, and both do have that "cordless" advantage.

I was unable to kick back and type.I kept getting inaccurate keystrokes that appeared to be hardware error, not the operator. As long as I kept the keyboard on my desk... all was well, but since I got it to be able to move away from the desk, I can't say I'm thrilled with what I would consider to be a fairly big chunk of change going to this item.

Best wishes to all those who want to give it a try, I'm going back to the plug in myself.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
This Logitech Cordless keyboard is a pretty good keyboard but I have two minor problems with it. The first problem is that the keys are too hard and if you don't push down hard enough the letter won't appear on the screen. This is a pretty minor problem but should be taken care of with Logitech's next keyboard.

The other problem is that the keyboard freezes up on me but I guess this is so because I've had it for a few years now. Despite those two problems this Logitech keyboard is a great buy and will be enjoyed by all. Buy it and have fun.

2-0 out of 5 stars Hiss and break-up
If you like quiet music or wish to be mobile then these are definitely not for you.

Unless the volume reaches a certain level, then there is just too much hiss. To drown out the hiss you either need to increase the volume sufficiently that you cannot hear anything else in the room (that's not very high since these are closed earphones), or play different music.

Even when you are within 2 meters of the transmitter, moving your head just a couple of inches can result in signal break-up.

If you are prepared to sit still and listen to rock music at the right volume then the sound quality really is quite good. However for over $200 more flexibility is expected both in terms of mobility and clearity.

In mono the hiss goes away, as does the signal breakup (within 10 meters). However, you are paying for stereo headphones.

The batteries don't last long (maybe 4 hours) and to recharge them you must connect a cable between the headphones and the base unit and push a switch on the base. With some other makes you only need sit them on a stand. Also the batteries cannot easily be swapped. So if you want to listen for 6 hours, or you forgot to charge them, you'll just have to wait until they are recharged. You cannot just insert a new battery.

They are a bit on the heavy side.

Something I do like is that there is no tuning dial for the radio signal, so cannot accidently detune them.

3-0 out of 5 stars Classical listeners will be disappointed
Listening to classical CDs throughout the house was my goal in purchasing these cordless headphones.General reception is pretty good, although it does fade in and out somewhat as I move through the house. Most annoying, however, is a constant background hiss, which distracts from the high quality sound I hoped for.

Your satisfaction with this product will probably depend on your listening preferences. Most radios stations and many pop-type CDs would come through just fine.Discriminating lovers of more quiet music will not be satisfied.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a Great Combo
Koss JR900 Cordless Stereo Headphones are the best in cordless.I've shopped around in many stores looking for such a bargain.I can't find one. The average price was 500.00. These headphones can work throughout mywhole house! I just plug them into my computer and listen to MP3's while Iclean. There great and very comfortable. To make matters worse, the Cuisinart company was sold a few years to an absentee-Chinese shlock manufacturer who are driving the brand into the ground. All my multiple emails and calls to the company were ignored.
If you can live with this defect (I am rather immune, since I am a chemist/bachelor - but I still dont like the fact my kettle has no handle!), then go for it. But watch out below!

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautifully does the job!
This past XMAS, I gave all of my girl co-workers a variety box of Bigley's Tea and then brought in my new Cuisinart Electric Kettle to share. WOW, what a great reaction. During our cold, wet SoCal winters, we relished our daily 'spot of tea'. On Fridays,we turned on Madeleine Peyroux's new Jazz music, which begged for a companion cup of tea, and suddenly we were in Paris, or New Orleans, anywhere but work. It just feels like such a luxury in a world filled with fast food, cokes, cigs, and impatient customers. The pot IS loud for the 1 minute that it takes to boil. We don't care, it's our signal to gather round the newly hot pot. And I was worried about the design of the fill area beneath the handle-DON'T WORRY-it's a non-issue. The handle does get WARM, but not hot. AND it's sooooo beautiful. My co-workers and I say BUY and ENJOY!

Black & Decker's cordless can opener is a power tool for the kitchen. Snap it on a can and let it go; the opener "walks" around the can on its own and shuts off automatically. Lightweight and ergonomically designed, it features an extra-sharp cutting tool, a large blade lever, and foolproof grip. Charged up in the power base, the can opener runs for more than 30 minutes before it needs recharging. That's a lot of tuna! --Lynne Sampson ... Read more

I have had my can opener for three years now, and will not trade it for the world!I don't own any manual can openers anymore. This is a really good buy.Despite, the negative reviews, I have never had problems with mine falling apart or being too difficult to attach to the can. --- A must have!

4-0 out of 5 stars Happy bride with new hubby and new can opener!
Does well with any size can.A little tricky to use at first (can be difficult hooking it us to the can) but a cinch to use once you get the hang of it.I really like this household appliance.

3-0 out of 5 stars Its okay, but not that easy to use
Overall this thing isn't bad, but it sometimes is tough to get it set on the can properly.I usually struggle to get the blade in the right position before I can open it.I used to have the B&D Spacemaker hideaway, and I never had this kind of trouble. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

As an alternative to dull scissors wielded by an uncertain hand, thiselectric beard and mustache trimmer offers numerous advantages. Foremost amongthem is a trimmer guard that extends to four settings so hair can be cutuniformly from lengths as short as .06 of an inch (MTV-fashionable stubble) toas long as .28 of an inch (full-partner lawyer). A gauge displays the selectedsetting so it can be replicated when trim time next arrives. Stainless-steelblades with rounded teeth ensure there'll be no painful shocks. For defininghairlines, cutting stray hairs, and other precision work, the trimmer guarddetaches, baring the blades. Charging the trimmer for 1.6 hours ensure a fulluse. Let's discuss something no one wants to talk about: ear and nose hair. It's simply a reality of life that, as we age, hair in these places can become longer and thicker. Despite the fact that no one wants to talk about it, unsightly hair doesn't go unnoticed; each of us can remember the dentist we had as a child, whose nose hair we'd gaze at as our teeth were worked on. Conair's cordless nose and ear hair trimmer can help you avoid becoming like that dentist. Engineered to safely cut hair in nostrils and ears, this trimmer's sheathed stainless-steel blades eliminate the painful risk of using scissors. Simply insert the tip of the trimmer and let it do its thang. Then we'll never have to discuss this topic again, will we? Two-year warranty. --Ariel Meadow Stallings ... Read more

I bought this Conair unit for the car (!)-(yup!) because I am a wreck in the mornings, and often forget to use my "old reliable" Panasonic one at home after shaving!...Moral of this story: this Conair thing ain't even worth the cheap price. Panasonic EY6431NQKWK 15.6-Volt 1/2" Cordless Drill/Driver Kit includes Bigg Lugg Tool Holder a $9.99 Value
    Tools & Hardware
    list price: $266.39

    Editorial Review

Impressively compact, lightweight, and comfortable to use,Panasonic's 15.6-volt drill/driver fits into tight spaces where other(bulkier) drills won't. But what really sets this drill apart from thecompetition is its unique electronic speed control. Unlike other drillson the market, this Panasonic delivers full torque at any speed, so youcan apply full force--up to 390 inch-pounds of torque--while stillmaintaining control. This drill is a smart buy for plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and even woodworkers--in short, anyone whowants a small, compact drill that packs a lot of torque and is built tolast. It weighs just 4.4 pounds (with battery) and is (only!) 8-3/16inches long. The 1/2-inch chuck takes bigger bits. The hard-rubberhandle is very easy to grip during constant use, even if you havesmallish hands. In addition, the forward/reverse switch is easy toreach with your trigger hand. In fact, the tool's superior ergonomicdesign--never mind its great performance--is enough win some peopleover. The tool lacks an onboard bit holder, but that's about all itlacks. The package includes two of Panasonic's long-lasting 3 amp NiMHbatteries, a 45-minute universal charger, and a hard-plastic carryingcase. Friendly Robotics RL500Robomower
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars
    Tools & Hardware
    list price: $525.00
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

The Robomower is convenient, easy, robotic, and clean--and it's a great conversation piece. It's no lightweight; in fact, it takes two people to remove the machine from the box when it arrives. Although the mower isn't complicated to operate, getting the system set up in your yard can take most of an afternoon. However, the included instructional video and well-written manual make the job easier. The biggest part of the task is stringing the perimeter wire around your yard, marking the boundaries the Robomower is to stay within. When it's mowing, the machine senses the perimeter wire and uses three mulching blades to cut down everything inside the wire. The mulching blades mean you don't need to bag or rake.

The Robomower's safety features eliminate any chance of the evil-robot-run-amok outcome. It won't run at all if it's flipped over with the blades exposed. Likewise, it turns tail and backs off if its soft 360-degree bumpers encounter any foreign object (like a pet or toy or favorite rose bush). It's quiet compared to other lawn mowers, but because it takes longer to get the job done than a human with a walk-behind mower, what noise there is lasts longer. The mower works best on level yards smaller than 3,200 square feet, with the grass reasonably tame to begin with. It does not work well on hilly or overgrown yards. While it takes a full day to recharge the battery, it a full charge is enough to mow most lawns. All in all, the Robomower is ideal for those of us who always feel like there's something better to do with a weekend afternoon than lawn mowing, or for people with disabilities. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Know your tools
I read through a lot of reviews prior to purchasing a Robomower and I already owned a Roomba robotic vaccuum cleaner, so I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. That's probably the single most important piece of advice I can give any prospective purchaser of a Robomower - get a good idea of how it works before you decide whether or not to take the plunge.

A Robomower is not a fully automated lawn mower any more than a dishwasher is a fully automated dish cleaner.Just as there is a certain amount of preparatory work to be done in using a dishwasher, so there is in using a Robomower.Unlike the dishwasher, though, most of the Robomowers prep work is done once.

The Robomower and the Roomba are two automated devices with one purpose:to crawl over every open square inch of a two dimensional surface. Both meet that purpose in similar ways, by tracing around the perimeter of the area to be covered and by executing a varying pattern over the interior with a randomizing element thrown in to help insure overlaps between the various patterns.Roomba has an advantage because it can combine its bump-and-go obstacle sensors with a wall-hugging system to trace along walls. The Robomower must use a perimeter-defining wire that works on the same principle as an invisible dog fense.

And that's where the prep work comes in.

Before a Robomower can be used, the perimeter of the yard must be defined by laying a continuous circuit of wire over the ground.

The good news is that Friendly Robotics' method for laying this wire is vastly superior to the 'dig a slit in the sod' method most invisible dog fence products use.The Robomower's wire is laid over the grass and then held down using a peg/staple that gets driven over the wire, pressing the wire down into the grass.Done correctly, the wire is held down for the few weeks it takes for the grass to integrate the wire into the thatch.

The bad news is that laying the wire is time-consuming and requires a lot of bending and stooping as well as a good understanding of the operation of the Robomower. The video that comes with the Robomower does a good job of getting the idea across, but even so, some people will find the procedure a challenge.

Once I had the perimeter wire laid, the only drawback to the Robomower that I have found so far has been that I was misled by the guidelines for laying the perimeter wire.First, a long, narrow (but within the guidelines) strip of lawn on one side of my house is hard to find for the Robomower. This is relatively minor since I can direct the mower into the area and then let it work.Second, the description of laying a wire 'island' around permanent obstacles not on the perimeter implies that the spacing around the edge of the obstacle should be the same as the distance the wire is to be laid along the perimeter of the lawn. This isn't the case.Interior wire should be laid much closer to the edge since the Robomower gives wire-marked edges much more clearance once it gets past the edge-following part of its programming.

The only other caveat I would give to a prospective buyer would be a warning about the implication that the Robomower can be left to work alone, unattended.A fenced backyard with no pets or children might allow this but cutting an open front yard with a Robomower invites attention from passersby, including wandering children. It would be unconscionable to leave a 100 lb self-moving power tool with three whirring cutter blades underneath unattended if there is even the possibility of a curious child coming near.

5-0 out of 5 stars Its perfect, you will love it.
After reading a lot of reviews for this product, I decided to adquire it. It has been 8 months after I got it, and it has worked perfectly. The only problem I have notieced is that if you have a new lawn, and the lawn is bumpy, the final cut won't look smooth.
I know if I level my yard, it will look better.
After wiring the perimeter, and you test the robot the first time, modify everything to cut as much you can from the border near the walls and obstacles. If you can buy the RL800 will be better, because it has a build in password, as I understood. So no body will be able to use it if it is stolen.

5-0 out of 5 stars So relaxing!!!
