Editorial Review

Made of nylon reinforced with glass fibers for strength anddurability, the five large kitchen tools in this set are safe for allnonstick cookware and heat-resistant to 450 degrees F so they won't beharmed by high heat on the stovetop. The set comprises a slotted spoon;a slotted turner with a 4-inch-wide head and beveled edges for slidingunder food in any direction; a fork with a cupped head so it can beused to scoop up food as well as impale it; a pasta server; and a 6- ounce ladle holding with a pouring spout on the left side (perfect forrighthanders but awkward for lefthanders). All the tools measure 14-3/4inches long (except the 14-1/4-inch ladle), have curved handles forergonomic ease, provide big hanging holes on the handles' butt ends, gosafely into a dishwasher, and sport snappy chrome KitchenAid logomedallions. 2-0 out of 5 stars The designer had to be a GIANT!!!
These tools are HUGE!! No really I'm not exaggerating, they are very BIG! And they fall out of every pan I have except for the big ol' stock pots or dutch ovens, but who's gonna use non-stick in those anyway.. I guess if you are a teflon- a -holic, and you even buy those non-stick.
Other than them being huge they are okay, they are heat resistant.I kept them because I basically got'em for FREE! I store them in the drawer they are not really used. They are not for me, my husband reaches for them more than me.
Too awkward and clunky. 2 stars

5-0 out of 5 stars very large but full of quality
I didn't think it would be that large either but i got used to them after a while.you need a tall container to hold them in though. They are of good quality finally NO MELTING! great to use with my ionized cookware which makes a smooth cooking combination.

3-0 out of 5 stars Make sure you read the description -- these are HUGE
I should have read more carefully the description and the very accurate review already posted. While these are very sturdy tools, they are HUGE.I've never seen kitchen utensils like these, regardless of the level of quality. The handles on each item are long, thick, and don't seem to serve much function.I'm not quite sure what the purpose is of having everything be so large, beyond having a large end on the ladel so more liquid can be scooped up at one time.If you have a large kitchen drawer or other storage advice, then these are okay if you believe you need oversized utensils for cooking.Otherwise I would suggest looking for something else. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Large, Heavy Duty
I'm a big guy and I like big and heavy duty kitchen gadgets. These didn't disappoint in that regard.

The can opener appears well built. However, the drive wheel has very shallow teeth that slip on the can even though the sharp cutting wheel requires little drive effort to penetrate the metal can top.Squeezing the handles with a very firm grip mostly overcomes this problem with only a little residual slippage, but that eliminates the expected advantage of a large can opener with a lot of leverage. The opened can lid seems much sharper than those produced from my inexpensive and functional Swing-Away can opener. On the very first can I opened, I brushed a finger tip against the edge of the lid and received a very deep cut.The Swing-Away can opener I had been using apparently produces more of a cut & rolled edge that seems much less dangerous.

The whisk handle is comfortable and it works well.I think I prefer a lighter whisk with a hollow handle and I definitely prefer a completely smooth surface that's easier to clean. The Kitchenaid logo has molded and recessed features that require a little extra cleaning effort.

The peeler works well. The large handle is easy to grip (I have large hands), but it does take up a lot of space in the gadget drawer. The clip on plastic blade cover is a nice touch to keep the blade from banging into other gadgets and nicking them or dulling, but I wonder how many minutes it'll be before I lose the plastic cover.

The spatula is well designed and well built. The silicone rubber is slightly harder than a Rubbermaid commercial spatula I had, but it oozed silicone oil and was discarded. This spatula is soft enough to flex as needed, but probably not so soft that it'll ooze silicone.Again, I'd like a smooth handle that was as easy to clean as possible.Decent marks here, but the molded Kitchenaid logo again requires a little extra effort to clean.

The grater is nice and heavy duty.No complaints.

The ice cream scoop is solid and well built. The surface polish is mirror smooth. However, with hard ice cream, the ice cream spade (sold separately) works better with much less effort.Even with the spade, scooping frozen ice cream is a bit awkward and requires a lot of force. This scoop will require hard ice cream to be microwaved to soften it before it can be scooped.I have an old commercial Hamilton Beach ice cream scoop with the completely hemispherical thin walled stainless scoop and a ratcheting thumb mechanism that drives a band inside the scoop to release the ice cream. It scoops hard ice cream more easily and releases it more easily than the pretty new Kitchenaid ice cream scoop.

Overall, these are large and heavy duty tools that are certainly well made.I don't think durability will be an issue. Some of the tools could have been designed a bit better.A+ for materials and workmanship.A- to C- for the various pieces for ergonomics and functional design. This set is good, but for the price it should be very good.It wasn't quite up to the very high standards I have come to expect from Kitchenaid.

I'd probably be more charitable, but the half inch gash on the end of my left middle finger makes typing this review a bit painful. At least it finally stopped bleeding whenever I flexed my finger.I'll be more careful with the Kitchenaid can opener.

5-0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid 5-Piece Gadget Set, Blue
I bought the 5-piece set at a JC penneys when i lived in Florida and paied more than $24.99. This set is great and i'm happy with all the tools. The can openner is the best, no more electric ones for me. The handles are confortable to hold and you get a good tight grip with out hurting you hand. The ice cream scoop will not bend like some many i have used before. The peeler & whisk are the best i ever used. The scraper is really made for Kitchenaid Stand mixer bowls and is quite long so you might want to buy a smaller Kitchenaid scraper for regular bowls but this works well. Only tool i did not get was the grader but i have bought it from Kitchaid.com with other cobalt blue gargets this christmas cause they are offering free shipping and 25% off total order with code "Holiday04" until christams.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kitchenaid tools rock in my kitchen!
For a number of years I had always purchased the cheap kitchen tools, accessories from the local dept. stores. It's true that you get what you pay for. When I received this set (I purchased the one in blue) I was very pleased with the overall quality of each individual item.I would recommend this for anyone that has ever bought those cheap plastic spatulas, the cheap metal cheese graters that are difficult to clean and always end up rusting and those cheap wire whisks that end up rusting also. You will get more than your monies worth out of this set. ... Editorial Review

With the right tools, home cooks can improve their food presentation, giving ordinary meals the appearance of culinary masterpieces. This five-piece garnishing set includes all the tools professionals rely upon to produce an eye-catching buffet. The melon baller scoops cantaloupe or honeydew into perfectly round balls for fruit salad, seeds cucumbers for stuffing or slicing, and shapes truffles. The lemon zester cuts long, thin strips of citrus peel for garnish or flavoring butter sauces and cuts wider twists for drinks. The butter curler makes scalloped curls of butter for elegant serving or curls chocolate for decorating cakes. The channel tool cuts grooves into fruits or vegetables for decoration or flutes the edges of a pie crust. Finally, the euro peeler peels thick-skinned vegetables, such as cucumbers or carrots, and curls cheese for salads. The tools all have high-carbon stainless-steel blades, scoops, and heads and sturdy, white plastic handles. These garnishing tools are dishwasher-safe and are covered by a hassle-free replacement warranty for the first year of ownership and a limited lifetime warranty thereafter. --Cristina Vaamonde ... 3-0 out of 5 stars So-so, I suppose
I had high hopes for this product. It's definatly not as good as I expected. I had one of these years ago from some no-name company and it worked great. After years of use and abuse, it finally broke. So I replaced it with this, thinking it would be better because it's KitchenAid. This is difficult to take apart after using-I feel like I'm going to break it. It doesn't hold very much. It's also a pain to clean, almost impossible if you don't clean it IMMEDIATLY after you use it. I used mine to chop garlic about 2 months ago and it smells like it still. In my opinion, it's just easier to use a knife.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great gadget
Be sure to buy this one over the Zyliss - I couldn't get the Zyliss to do anything but mangle onions just a little. This Kitchenaid chopper is just fantastic. It chops very easily and very quickly, and the cleanup is just a breeze.I usually wash mine on the top rack of the dishwasher and it has always done just fine. It's fabulous for nuts too!

4-0 out of 5 stars Durable, easy to clean and use
I've gone through a lot of hand powered food choppers,
including one made a certain vendor who sells through
parties at homes. I've had the KitchenAid chopper nearly a
year, and it is working well. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars No hassles, easy to read
I've only had this thermometer for about a week, but so far, it does exactly what it's supposed to -- stays in place at the back of the oven and displays the temperature using numbers large enough that I can read them easily without opening the oven door. Very satisfied.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth the money, overall.
Although my oven is only a year old, getting used to a gas oven after years of using an electric oven forced me to find a reliable thermometer. I've purchased others that, although they worked, either varied the temperature by more than 50 degrees or collected the food film/grease from the oven like a magnet, thereby impeding readability. This thermometer seems to deflect film - makes for easy reading. My only "complaint" is that it doesn't stay put - it often falls over if I close the oven door too quickly/forcefully. The hook it comes with is a nice feature, but I suspect the design of my oven racks may simply be a bit too close together to allow for proper use of the hook. All in all, it remains a solid and accurate thermometer - yes, I'd buy another.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stylish and easy to read
This thermometer more than met my expectations. Its large and easy to read, has a nice design and is pretty durable.I love the Kitchenaid line, I own their beautiful cookware and several small applicanes.Keeping with a trusted name is important to me.I dont need the overhead of a digital unit, I have an older oven and a good reliable thermometer is important to me for baking etc. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Solid & Well Built
The first impression is durability. This is not flimsy grocery store nonstick cookware. The metal is a heavy gauge, and the nonstick coating is thick and should not rub off easily, as Ecko and even Wilton bakeware has in the past.Don't use the abrasive nylon pads (Scotchbrite, etc.). These nonstick pans clean so easily that even severely burned foods should soak off without a lot of scrubbing.

I found one odd design issue. The sides of the pans are rounded, almost as if the typically rectangular pans were partially oval.I think this was done for style and the sake of appearance, although there may be some practical justification. If you make brownies in the 9" X 13" pan, the pan is not rectangular, so the brownies will not be rectangular either. The outer brownies will have curved edges. If you're the Anally Retentive Chef, this may bother you.Similarly, the sides of the jelly roll pan have a noticeable curve. If you were rolling a jelly roll, you'd either trim off the curved portions to square up the sides, which seems like extra work and wasted cake, or you'd have a very sloppy looking jelly roll that was rolled from an irregular curved sided sheet.Fortunately, I don't make jelly rolls and will use this as a spare baking sheet.

But, again, this is durable and very nice nonstick bakeware that is a cut above the standard fare. However, I wish they'd gone more for practicality and "form follows function", rather than trying to make it look cool with curved sides. It seems the materials were dictated by function, and the shape was dictated by appearance.I wish all aspects of the design had been functional.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great; a bargain.
I have been impressed by the quality of this bakeware set, and particularly with how truly non-stick the non-stick is. You could pay this much for junky merchandise; this is the real deal. KitchenAid continues to make sure their brand stands for deluxe quality at acceptable prices. Nice item.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Bakeware!
I just received these pans yesterday and could not expect better pans. These pans are very heavy duty and truly nonstick.I have not tried any cookies yet, but I baked a lot of my Christmas casseroles in them, and they have never turned out better.I am definately going to get some more! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed - all the stars in the review....
I used this product one and only time within - four hours of its arrival - to grind cardamom seeds. The chamber was filled of half of its capacity.
The grind was uneven (more than 60% not ground), coarse and the grinder started smelling and smoking. The stainless steel chamber was hot to touch and on the fifth hour I requested to return it. Definitely not worth the price and hype.
.
I have had $10 worth grinder last for 10 years after each day of use for various spices.

I am still looking for a good product

2-0 out of 5 stars Mess Maker
My wife must have nearly one of every red Kitchen Aid products. All function will and are built to last. But the only one to make a bigger mess on my counter is the stand mixer when it has too much flour and is run on high. I grind 1/4c. beans and it escapes either during the grind if I don't have the lid fully pressed or when I release the lid. This beauty is built to last and does look good on the counter. My last Starbucks grinder failed because of a frayed cord(from wrappping around the cylinder). The Kitchen Aid grinder has a high quality cord like my Porter Cable tools. Unfortunately it will last forever. Messy, messy, messy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stylish, Easy to Clean
Sleek and stylish looking on the counter next to stainless steel or black appliances.Extremely easy to clean.Just 2 large parts to rinse after use, they disassemble quickly.Contrary to some reveiws, it does NOT make a mess, so long as you do not fill it to the brim.Strong motor for its size and grinds the beans quickly and evenly.Nice size, 9"H x 4"W.Almost the size of a half gallon milk container. ... Capable of crushing ice and being pulsed at any of its fivespeeds, this sturdy, powerful, 575-watt blender providesease-of-operation and versatility to a serious cook. 5-0 out of 5 stars Superbly designed blender
I bought a red one as a Mother's Day gift, but I tried it out just to see if it was worth the price. It didn't disappoint me.
Mom has gone through cheaper blenders at the rate of one every 8 months. This one has the power as evidenced by the much heavier motor base. Jar has plenty of capacity though some fruit lumps will lodge under the blade. Stirring with a chopstick should dislodge the occasional lump. For those who complain about the worn out teeth - you're overloading the machine! Begin in the pulse mode to break up the contents into small pieces before liquifying it - this will prevent motor burnout and the stripping of the teeth. A cheaper blender would have burned out sooner!

1-0 out of 5 stars Rubber Drive Teeth Don't Last
We have had this blender foryears now.We bought it after seeing one that our friends owned. We have used it for milk shakes, smoothies, and crushing ice.Honestly, we loved it.Then the blender our friends owned died. The rubber teeth used to turn the blade disintegrated. We felt bad for them, but never thought such a fate waited for us.Today our rubber drive teeth crumbled into dust.Garbage.Very badly engineered.Don't buy one if longevity means anything to you.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME...what's with all these competitors' SHILL reviews?
After my Krups died (lasted 4 years) I did a ton of research before I bought this blender, and in the end the choice was just too obvious: there is no other blender in this price range with this amount of sheer power, not even close.

The KitchenAid just blows away the competition from Cuisinart to Braun to Oster to Waring. It certainly was a night and day difference from my old Krups, which took about 3 times longer to do the same work (pureeing 35 oz of bananas and oatmeal with 5 oz of soy milk and yogurt). My sister has the Cuisinart 600watt model and it was also no comparison.

So what sold me on the KitchenAid, despite all the one-star single-reviewers?(NOTE: sure sign of paid shills, aside from the anonymous ones---only one review to their entire history or all their reviews praise one brand and/or attack another brand.)

1.Weight.Simple and consistent indicator of good quality in any electronic device (including speakers, receivers, etc.) is the sheer heft and weight of the thing---I went to a local housewares shop and simply lifted each and every display model. The KitchenAid easily outweighs all the others by almost double.

2.Blade.The KitchenAid's blades are bigger, thicker, and more multi-level than the competition's.Goes through everything in a jiffy.

3.Ease of pitcher movement: very easy to put the pitcher on the machine and take it off, zero twisting---just set it straight down.

4.Nice thick glass on the pitcher.Looks like you could kill somebody with the thing!

My dislikes:

1.Pitcher is only 40oz, my old Krups had a 50oz pitcher.

2.Plastic/rubber lid is kind of a pain to put on and take off, it's so darn tight.

3.I wish they would just have the simple flip switch controls that the VitaMix blenders have...without the VitaMix price tag, of course!

Now I have to say that I've only had this blender for about a month, but my neighbor has had his for two years and has never had the kinds of problems that many of the MYSTERY reviewers here claim, and the guy is a margarita fiend.

Hmmmm...could this just be a case of badmouthing the competition? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mighty Little Chopper
I just received the KitchenAid KFC3100ER Chef Series Food Chopper and LOVE it.It is very powerful, doesn't leak while making dressings and the red color is very nice also. One draw back...... while it chops, or blends, stuff flys out of the top of the lid where you pour in fluids.I was surprised that there was no cover for it I even checked the box it came in again to make sure I didn't miss it.Hopefully KitchenAid will realize this and make one available for this mighty chopper. In the mean time I suggest using something like foil to place over the lid opening so you don't wear what you are blending or chopping. With that little issue I still give it a 5 star rating you won't be disappointed with it's usefulness and power.Someone mentioned the noise I didn't find it to be an issue, at all.

Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars So Easy to Use and So Poweful too!
I literally threw out our larger Hamilton Beach Food processor because the lid was so hard to get off, almost impossible. We downsized with a bit of apprehension to a 3 cup size and it's perfect! The first culinary delight I made was some ham salad, everything was processed quickly, quietly [not an issue at all] andevenly. Then of course onions, carrots, relish items, all made in short order. This is an awsome machine that we can easily get the lid on and off and processes powerfully without a problem.I am so thrilled with this machine. There is just the two of us now but we entertain alot. Also so easy to store.I only used a few speeds on the big processor so hitting pulse a few times isn't a big issue at all.We love this little giant!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Nice Well Built piece of Equipment
Finally- a product that appears to be well made & works well.My only complaint (and it's not really a complaint - I just didn't know to expect this) is that when you chop items like onions or cucumbers, they get really watery. ... Read more

Editorial Review

KitchenAid's Artisan stand mixer is a substantial piece of equipment: 325 watts of mixing power make child's play of creaming butter, kneading dough, and whipping cream. The kid in you will appreciate how quick and easy it is to mix up a batch of cookie dough. This model comes with three attachments: a flat beater for making batter, meat loaf, and all textures in-between; a wire whip for egg whites, mayonnaise, and more air-infused creations; and a hook for mixing and kneading yeast doughs. All three are solidly constructed and easily secured to the beater shaft with a simple twist. This model also includes a pouring shield for guiding ingredients to their proper destination, and the bowl itself locks tight to the base. Standing about 15 inches high, jutting out a foot, and weighing more than a grown woman's bowling ball, this stand mixer isn't the sort of appliance you'll wipe down and put away. Better to find a square foot of free counter space for easy access; besides, this machine is as pretty as it is rugged--you'll want to show it off. --Betsy Danheim

From the Manufacturer

The Artisan mixer's strong 325-watt motor delivers the power to handle the heaviest mixtures, and mix large batches easily.

The 5-quart polished stainless steel bowl with ergonomic handle is big enough to handle large batches of heavy mixtures. Its ergonomically designed handle is contoured to fit the hand and makes lifting the bowl more comfortable.

Unique Mixing Action

The beater spins clockwise as the shaft spins counter clockwise; moving the beater to 67 different points around the bowl. This unique mixing action creates a thorough blend of ingredients and eliminates the need to rotate the bowl.

Multiple Speeds

10 speeds allow the user to select the right speed for the mixing job; from very high to very slow stir. It's easy to select the precise speed needed for a perfect mix.

Versatile Accessories

The flat beater, dough hook, and the professional wire whip add to the versatility of the mixer. The flat beater is the ideal accessory for mixing normal to heavy batters. From cake mixes to firm cookie dough, the flat beater mixes quickly and thoroughly.

The dough hook mixes and kneads yeast dough, saving both time and the effort of hand-kneading. The wire whip incorporates the maximum amount of air in whipped mixtures for fluffier whipped cream and angel food cakes.

All attachments are solidly constructed, and attach easily to the stand mixer.

Easy Clean Up

The pouring shield fits around the top of the bowl and prevents ingredient splash-out. The chute makes it convenient and easy to add ingredients.

The tilt-back mixer head allows for easy access to bowl and beaters. A lock lever holds the mixer head securely in place and the bowl fastens tightly to the base.

Optional Attachments

Optional attachments (sold separately) complete the package to make cooking a pleasure. From citrus juicer to sausage stuffer, KitchenAid stand mixers can handle just about any job in the kitchen.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy one for your significant other!!!
I bought one as an X-mas gift for an ex-girlfriend that I have a rocky friendship with and now she cooks up good stuff for me all the time!It makes hanging out with her a lot more enjoyable, and she freaked out about the color and it gave her an excuse to deocrate her whole kitchen pink and white. If you gave one of these to your current ladyfriend I bet that you would reap the benefits multiple times a day for a very long time.

It was a very very high quality product and I will look to the KitchenAid brand first whenever I have to buy kitchenwares/appliances in the future.Great color selections, great quality, very good power.

Would highly recommend.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great essential for the baker in your life....you!
I love the mixer's power, capacity and ease of use. It makes even garlic mashed potatoes heavenly. I selected a black model to match my Viking kitchens without realizing the color would need more frequent cleaning. If you use this mixer every day buy a cover or another color to save time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
I got this mixer about a month ago. I've wanted one for years, but always talked myself out of it (too expensive, too big, etc.) After finding a great deal here on Amazon, I finally caved in and let me say, I'm glad I did. I love this mixer! I was worried I wouldn't use it very much, since I already have a very nice bread machine (a "Zo"). I find that I'm using it all the time though. It really is like having an extra pair of hands in the kitchen. Cookie dough is so much easier. I'm also making bread with it constantly. It's just so simple to throw the ingredients in the mixer and let it do all the kneading. I've been making fresh bread and bagels every week and it's been no hassle. It handles the dough very well and stays put. It's a big heavy machine. The only problem I was having with it was I was finding it very difficult to remove the bowl to clean it after I was done mixing something. My husband suggested rubbing some vaseline on the bottom edge and that has solved the problem completely. Now I can pop the bowl off with one hand. Anyway, if you've been wanting one of these and if you like to bake at all, do youself a favor and get one. You will be amazed at how much easier it will make your life. I only wish I'd gotten one years ago! ... Read more

Editorial Review

Pound for pound, a good hand mixer is perhaps the most laborsavingkitchen device. While my grandmother relied on arm strength and force of will tobeat a stiff dough or to mash potatoes, a light and easily maneuvered hand mixersaves time and muscles. This one from KitchenAid features seven-speed digitaltouch control for precision mixing, and an electronic sensor that will adjustthe power as you go, so you maintain a steady mixing speed. If you're beating adelicate batter, you can use the Soft Start feature and ease into faster speed. When you're finished, the beaters are easily ejected. If you've ever battledheavy doughs, you'll appreciate the beaters' design: they don't have a centerpost, so dough won't collect in the middle of the beater and clog the machine. It's also designed for easy cleaning. --Laura Cuthbert ... This compact two-slot toaster from KitchenAid comes with a menu of toasting features and a sturdy, user-friendly structure. KitchenAid's Even Heat system automatically adjusts the heavy-gauge heating elements, so toast comes out consistently, even in large batches. A bagel function toasts the cut side of bagels, while simply warming the crusts, and a warming function gently reheats previously toasted foods. The Easy Lift lever and Soft Rise feature are both helpful when lowering slices or raising them to a graspable height. Notably wide and deep, the self-centering dual slots accommodate thick slices of brioche or fat bagels. Other handy details include a dial for shade control, "cut side" markings for bagel toasting, power indicator lights, a dishwasher-safe crumb tray, and power cord storage hooks. The toaster's stainless-steel interior and polycarbonate housing are built to last and easy to clean. The unit measures 11 by 7-3/4 by 6-3/4 inches. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Toaster
I got this toaster and I'm enjoying it.

It has a bagel setting that allows the toaster to toast the cut side more that the rest of the bagel. The top is crispy while the rest of the bagel is warm and tender.

It also has a warming cycle so previously toasted bread can be rewarmed without futher browning.

I like that it responds to multiple cycles. If I need it to toast more bread, it doesn't balk. My previous toaster didn't like to do a 2nd and 3rd cycle; it wanted to rest and cool down.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Toaster
I bought this toaster because it matched the color of my mixer. I was pleasantly surprised by its superior performance. Its functions are reliable and the outside stays cool (no more melted plastic bread bags). I'm hooked and I'll never go back to a lesser model again.

1-0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE TOASTER
I bought this toaster with wedding money thinking that the Kitchen Aid model would be great--all their other products are. What a complete WASTE of money!! I even called the company and they sent me another one--same problems as the first one. The toast did not brown at all.I don't like my toast black, but hey, warmish bread is not ideal either. ... This single-slot digital toaster from KitchenAid not onlytoasts most widths of bread to perfection but also warms pastries, getsbagels just right, and handles frozen items intelligently. A simpleuser-friendly display governs all these functions, with a dial forbrowning preference and three buttons for the "warm," "frozen," and"bagel" options. The "warm" function heats without toasting, while the"frozen" function gently thaws, then toasts. The "bagel" functiontoasts the cut side 100 percent and the crust 50 percent. Each functionincludes an indicator light, and the digital display shows the selectedbrowning level. If you toast several servings in a row, KitchenAid'sEven Heat system adjusts cooking time to ensure consistent results.

Structurally, the toaster is sound and accommodating, holding twoslices at a time. The toasting rack automatically centers bread betweenthe elements, and the Soft Rise feature raises finished toast high foreasy removal. The toaster also features heavy-duty heating elements, afull-width dishwasher-safe crumb tray, a stainless-steel interior, andstain-resistant polycarbonate housing. The power cord has an especiallytidy feature--it wraps out of sight underneath the toaster for storageor shortening. 1-0 out of 5 stars Only If
This would be a great product only if it did what it promised. IT DON'T! Memory, HUH! It will not give uniform results. The settings are not close enough. But, the worst is you never know how the toast will come out. When it does give you the shade you want the setting will be up around 7-8, but, sometimes it will come out too light. So, you have to plunge the toast down again and manually stop it. The most uniform results come when you set it around 3-4, and, as a matter of course do it twice at that setting. Great idea, lousy execution.

2-0 out of 5 stars A Disappointment, typical of now-made-in-China Kitchen Aid
Having been a long-time fan of Kitchen Aid, an owner of many Kitchen Aid appliances, and the recipient of amazing first-tier customer service from the company, I am shocked at this item.

Kitchen Aid's new line of products, manufactured in the People's Republic of China, are a far cry from the quality to which Yanks are accustomed.

The toaster is attractive to look at.Excess cord length can be stowed underneath. The removable crumb tray is great. However, the plastic is chintzy, and the lever which lowers the toast has a decided rattle, an early "I'm going to break" warning.

Most important in a toaster: How well it toasts. And this is the first toaster I've ever encountered that does not toast evenly! It's 2004, people! The right- and left sides of every piece of bread are overly brown, and the middle of every slice, toasted in this appliance, remains blonde or out-and-out white.

I would not recommend this appliance.I wish I had kept my old, dented, similarly-styled, single-slot Oster toaster circa 1980.It's 24 years old, cost half as much, and it did a better, more uniform job of toasting bread.

I expect more from Kitchen Aid.Previously, Kitchen Aid products were worth their premium. That's no longer the case.

2-0 out of 5 stars Kitchen Aid KTT460WT 2-slice tpaster
Very poor performance.Does not toast evenly.Very disappointed in this product.Would never buy one again.Warming Bagel function is the only part of this toaster that is worth while. So, if you only warm bagels, it's fine. ... Read more
