For A Picnic In The Hamptons...Maybe...
I bought DeeDee's book mainly because of the price. I thought an inexpensive book on picnics: some good recipes and tips - forget it.

On my first inspection only one or two recipes interested me. Well, maybe I just wasn't hungry. I put the book away and tried again later. Nope, nothing here.

Most of the recipes, if not all, are for the wine and brie set picnicing in the Hamptons. If your picnic ideas include hummus with creamed cucumber dressing, garnished with figs that are stuffed with walnut and endive, this book is for you, otherwise look elsewhere.

I really think this book was put through a marketing survey and they felt they could only get the ten dollars for it if they were lucky.

�Picnic� is an excellent buy for the money.
First off, it is nigh impossible to find a decent cookbook for less than $..., but to find a great cookbook for under $... (Amazon�s price), is a true discovery.

But we need to beg the question: even if it is a bargain, do you need another book just for picnics?I mean, picnics are simple, right?Chicken, potato salad, wine, salt, pepper and some napkins.Well, if you have picnic atrophy and go only once a year, then you�re fine with the �Colonel.�However, if you, by chance, plan to cultivate the cultured outdoor dining side of you, Stovel is your mentor.

Stovel breaks up the book into the four seasons, and within each season she gives multiple menus (Spring 6, Summer 12, Fall 7 and Winter 4 menus).Each menu normally has five items.For example: Stovel�s, �Spring Day-Hike Picnic� menu has: grilled chicken fillets in a spinach wrap, artichoke salad, carrot sticks, gingerbread and fruit, with herbal iced tea.Her menus are thoughtful, flavorful, and balanced by having only one or two unique items out of the five.Her recipes are easy to follow and very tasty.This is a text only, there are no photos of the plates.

I thought Picnics were fun, kinda fast, intimate (like for two) and cheap.But the recipes here are for eight people!I have never had a picnic with eight people.I have had a church gathering and a Super Bowl sporting event, but not a picnic with eight people.Perhaps Stovel comes from a large family and see her readers bringing mom, dad, grandma and the five kids along; but in today�s world of virtual families, recipes for eight are an overkill. Thus, because my picnics are for two, every recipe has to be cut in half and then I still have a picnic basket of left overs.

Also, sometimes, the ingredients for these recipes doubled my weekly grocery budget.For example, the ingredients for the �Artichoke Salad� (pg.16) set me back $16 by the time I boughtthree jars of marinated artichoke hearts $9, six sun-dried tomatoes [you gotta buy the whole jar] $4, mushrooms, scallions, etc. Or consider the �Fresh Fruit Bowl Kaleidoscope� costing more than $17 not counting the Grand Marnier Liqueur� which is a heart-stopping $4, just for 50ml.

These points aired, this is a wonderful book that has recipes that can be used year round, picnic or not (Try �Tante�s Coffee Cake� and �Currant Oat Scones� - Excellent). �Picnic� is an excellent buy for the money.Recommended.4 stars

The only sunblock I'm not allergic to
Normally I don't have very sensitive skin, but my face is extremely allergic to all but this specific sunblock.I've tried other supposedly hypo-allergenic and PABA-free sunscreens, but still developed horrible rash and blisters around my lips, followed by scars and peeling.Only this specific sunblock (not even other Coppertone products) doesn't cause any allergic reaction.If you're allergic to sunscreen, I highly recommend this brand because it is a godsend for me. ... It sounds so simple: get your team to name common words withoutvoicing a few choice descriptors. But could you describe a wristwatchwithout mentioning time, wrist, or clock? Taboo rewards those whothink--and speak--fast. The team that correctly identifies as manywords as possible in a minute (measured with an hourglass timer) wins.If a member of the opposing team, armed with the blaring buzzer,catches the clue giver using any of the taboo words, a point is deducted from the group's score. A great game worthy of buying
Taboo is a fun and exciting game full of laughs and enjoyable experiences. As you probably know, you try to get your team mate to guess (or you try to guess) the word on the Taboo card. You can't say any of the 5 taboos though, or you'll lose a point! I have played this game at a party at my friend's house. It's always challenging and exciting, trying to describe and guess the word. Even when you it's not your turn, you still get to have fun trying to buzz other people, so you don't often get bored. I rated this game 4 stars because it's often hard to find four people to play with, but when you do, it's very fun and exciting!

Very fun game...
Taboo is a game that I played as a kid & I never forgot about it.I remembered it being so much fun that I asked for it for Christmas several years in a row & I've finally got it.We really enjoy this game.It's so much fun for all ages & you may think it sounds really easy but you'd be amazed at how many times you actually slip & say one of the words listed on the card that you are not supposed to say.When that happensyou will get buzzed or when you pass on a card the other team will get a point.So sometimes when it's your teams turn to give clues the other team can actually come out with more points then you earned on that turn.It's such a great game that I highly recommend.

A good game for about a half hour
I enjoy playing Taboo and always get a few laughs out of it, but a half hour is plenty.I find party games like Cranium, Balderdash and Rigamarole are far better at keeping a group's attention and interest. ... Read more

No rust problem here!
I have owned two sets of this flatware (navy and green) for more than two years and I'm totally satisfied. We have subjected them to daily use and wash them by hand (no dishwasher, alas, in my kitchen). They have held up very well, no rust anywhere that I can see. The handles show a bit of wear but they're plastic, after all, and that should be expected. I'm buying another set now to replace the ones we've inadvertently tossed in the trash.

The only caveat I would add is that some individual pieces are on the small side. The regular fork, knife and large spoon are fine. But the teaspoon and salad fork are somewhat smaller than you would expect. Great for households with young children, I guess! For the price, these can't be beat.

I ordered this flatware set for my new apartment and couldn't be happier. The flatware is extremely solid and durable, does not bend or anything like that, and overall feels like quality.

I highly recommend this set to anyone, and the price is right.

No warranty on Oneida Color Trends
When I saw this set I thought it would be an excellent casual set.I doubt I will ever purchase a flatware set with handles again.

Pros:

-The handles add a cute, casual and colorful look to your table.
-The set is inexpensive.
-Has the Oneida name.

Cons:

-I experienced rusting with a few random pieces in the set after just one handwashing!
-Handles take up extra room in your dishwasher's caddy or your dish drainer.
-I find the handles to be somewhat clumsy.

On a plus side, I wrote to Oneida about the rusting problem.I was informed that while the Color Trends line does not have a warranty, Oneida Silversmiths stands behind their products and would gladly replace the damaged pieces.

Honestly, unless you are truely in love with the design or the colors or the prices, I would rather invest in an all stainless set.

I don't find the knives to be dull, I notice some reviewers have mentioned that they felt the knives were dull.I am not going to dipute that because I suppose it is a matter of opinion.I thought they were fine.
