    Editorial Review

If you're looking for a premium food processor, this KitchenAid model is definitely worth investigating. A well-designed powerhouse designed to become any cook's chief assistant, it measures 14 inches tall and 7-1/2 inches wide, with a clear plastic 11-cup work bowl and a bonus mini bowl, two premium-quality blades, and three discs: a reversible thin slicer/shredder, a medium slicer, and a medium shredder. It also comes with a spatula/cleaning tool and a useful plastic storage case for the blades and discs. Thoughtful features include a quick-lock lid and an easy-to-use feed tube, plus lots of easy-cleaning aspects, such as a sealed housing, a smooth control panel, and a work bowl that completely disassembles. All parts except the base are dishwasher-safe.

The pulse feature comes in handy when chopping, slicing, dicing, shredding, or liquefying ingredients, and you'll also use the food processor to mix dough for bread and batter for cookies or muffins. The well-written instruction book gives thorough instructions, lots of tips, and 75 recipes that use all the processor's power to help create tasty treats. --Marcie Bovetz ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Still Outstanding After 9 Years.
I purchased my KitchenAid KFP600 food processor 9 years ago, and I was recently surprised to find that KitchenAid still produces exactly the same model. I shouldn't have been surprised. This is an exceptional food processor. Mine is in great shape after nearly a decade of moderate use (a few times a week), and I see no reason why it shouldn't last a decade more.

The 11-cup work bowl is ideal when cooking for 2-6 people. The spring that holds the work bowl in place and the cover on works as well today as it did when the processor was new. Although KitchenAid says that you can put the work bowl and cover in the dishwasher, I don't recommend it. The hot water causes the plastic to expand, which can make it difficult to lock the lid onto the bowl. Not so difficult that it can't be done, but the lid squeaks quite a bit after it's gone through the dishwasher. I bought the KFP600 shortly after it debuted, and no one had seen a mini bowl before. It looked useful. I thought I'd use the mini bowl to chop small quantities of food, saving myself from having to wash the big work bowl every time. Now I wouldn't buy a food processor without a mini bowl. I use the mini bowl to chop onions and garlic. It's invaluable. Think you can't chop garlic in a food processor? You can in the mini bowl. I prefer the mini bowl for onions, as well, because there is no risk that half the onion will be mush before the other half is chopped. And the mini bowl and mini blade are easy to clean. You can put them in the dishwasher without any ill effect.

The power base of the KFP600 is fairly heavy and stays put when you run the processor. The motor on mine is as good as new. The "clean touch" off/on/pulse buttons don't protrude from the control pad, so they're easy to wipe off. The machine is generally easy to clean. There is a place to coil the cord underneath the power base. It's difficult to get the cord to coil properly, though, and would be frustrating if you had to do it often. I wrap the cord around the base, where it is out of the way and readily accessible.

In addition to the 11-cup work bowl and multipurpose blade, the mini bowl and mini blade, the cover and the feed tube pusher, the KFP600 comes with a few accessories: There is a dough blade, which I confess to never having used in 9 years. I use the regular blade to make dough, and it has done an excellent job. Also included are 3 slicing/shredding discs which are mounted in the processor with a disc stem. There is a medium slicing disc, a medium shredding disc (both 4 mm), and a reversible thin slicing/shredding disc. There is also an oddly shaped, useless spatula. The accessories are contained in a large plastic storage box, 7"h x 7 1/2"w x 10 1/2"d, that is clear on the top and sides. There is space to store the optional egg whip and the multipurpose blade, as well, but the box is unnecessarily large. The instruction book for the KitchenAid KFP600, which has English and Spanish sections, is conveniently spiral-bound, so it will lie flat. The instructions are straightforward and well-illustrated, and followed by 32 recipes.

I have chopped, sliced, shredded, grated, pureéd, liquified, and made pie dough with this food processor for 9 years. I can honestly say that it has never performed less than perfectly. And it's still going strong.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Food Processor is Second to None!!!
My Mother got me this food processor last year for my birthday and the machine has had barely any rest since.I have shredded, chopped, ground, diced, sliced and mixed just about anything you can imagine. From nuts to pesto, to onions and cake, breadcrumbs and hash browns.Everything comes out perfectly. And the attachments are great. With the large shredder disk I have shredded zucchini for lasagna, with the slicing disk I make perfect onion slices. And the small bowl is fantastic. When I need onion and garlic, I first make the garlic in the small bowl, then the onions in the large - that way I can prep everything without having to wash the bowl in between.

One thing, though:I wish the attachment case were smaller or a little more practical. It takes up so much room on my few square feet of counter space that I usually end up putting things on top of it, which of course makes it difficult to get to the accessories. But I can live with that.

I love how the items clean up - nothing gets stuck, no stains remain and - most importantly - no smells linger.

If I had to do it all over - I WOULD GET THIS MACHINE AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT - I LOVE IT!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best, simply the best Food processor you can buy
There is NOTHING about this food processor I do not like:
It is simple to set up, it works like a champion, it does every task asked of it with out a struggle and it cleans up easily.I have had two other food processors and this one is better by far in every way.The disks are sharper out of the box and hold the edge better; they are well designed for their given task and perform the tasks flawlessly.KitchenAid has a world of option available as well.Buy it YOU WILL LIKE IT

This is the blender of the future. It performs all thetraditional blending tasks (crushing ice for margaritas, thinning icecream) plus you can use it like a food processor (mincing garlic, puréeing peppers). The wide jar is rounder and squatter thanold-style blenders, which makes it easier to reach in and scrape thesides (when the blender is off!). To reduce splatters of strawberrydaiquiri, the Step Start feature starts blending slowly, then picks upto the chosen speed. This blender also comes with a booklet containing75 recipes--my favorite is the Frosty Chocolate Raspberry Latté.--Dana Van Nest

Editor's Choice:KitchenAid's five-speed blender has a number offunctions that set it above the crowd as our choice for best blenderunder $100. It starts with the five speed settings and the pulsefunction, which works at any of the speeds--a really nice touch. Theblender's 40-ounce glass jar has a squat shape, making it moremanageable than taller blenders, and comes completely apart. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Superbly designed blender
I bought a red one as a Mother's Day gift, but I tried it out just to see if it was worth the price. It didn't disappoint me.
Mom has gone through cheaper blenders at the rate of one every 8 months. This one has the power as evidenced by the much heavier motor base. Jar has plenty of capacity though some fruit lumps will lodge under the blade. Stirring with a chopstick should dislodge the occasional lump. For those who complain about the worn out teeth - you're overloading the machine! Begin in the pulse mode to break up the contents into small pieces before liquifying it - this will prevent motor burnout and the stripping of the teeth. A cheaper blender would have burned out sooner!

1-0 out of 5 stars Rubber Drive Teeth Don't Last
We have had this blender foryears now.We bought it after seeing one that our friends owned. We have used it for milk shakes, smoothies, and crushing ice.Honestly, we loved it.Then the blender our friends owned died. The rubber teeth used to turn the blade disintegrated. We felt bad for them, but never thought such a fate waited for us.Today our rubber drive teeth crumbled into dust.Garbage.Very badly engineered.Don't buy one if longevity means anything to you.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME...what's with all these competitors' SHILL reviews?
After my Krups died (lasted 4 years) I did a ton of research before I bought this blender, and in the end the choice was just too obvious: there is no other blender in this price range with this amount of sheer power, not even close.

The KitchenAid just blows away the competition from Cuisinart to Braun to Oster to Waring. It certainly was a night and day difference from my old Krups, which took about 3 times longer to do the same work (pureeing 35 oz of bananas and oatmeal with 5 oz of soy milk and yogurt). My sister has the Cuisinart 600watt model and it was also no comparison.

So what sold me on the KitchenAid, despite all the one-star single-reviewers?(NOTE: sure sign of paid shills, aside from the anonymous ones---only one review to their entire history or all their reviews praise one brand and/or attack another brand.)

1.Weight.Simple and consistent indicator of good quality in any electronic device (including speakers, receivers, etc.) is the sheer heft and weight of the thing---I went to a local housewares shop and simply lifted each and every display model. The KitchenAid easily outweighs all the others by almost double.

2.Blade.The KitchenAid's blades are bigger, thicker, and more multi-level than the competition's.Goes through everything in a jiffy.

3.Ease of pitcher movement: very easy to put the pitcher on the machine and take it off, zero twisting---just set it straight down.

4.Nice thick glass on the pitcher.Looks like you could kill somebody with the thing!

    My dislikes:

1.Pitcher is only 40oz, my old Krups had a 50oz pitcher.

2.Plastic/rubber lid is kind of a pain to put on and take off, it's so darn tight.

3.I wish they would just have the simple flip switch controls that the VitaMix blenders have...without the VitaMix price tag, of course!

Now I have to say that I've only had this blender for about a month, but my neighbor has had his for two years and has never had the kinds of problems that many of the MYSTERY reviewers here claim, and the guy is a margarita fiend.

Hmmmm...could this just be a case of badmouthing the competition? ... Read more

KitchenAid KSM90 300-Watt Ultra Power 4-1/2-Quart Stand Mixer, White

    Kitchen

    Editorial Review

KitchenAid's stand mixer is a substantial piece of equipment: 300 watts of mixing power make child's play of creaming butter, kneading dough, and whipping cream. The kid in you will appreciate how quick and easy it is to mix up a batch of cookie dough; the 4-1/2-quart bowl can hold up to 8 cups of flour, which translates into as many as 192 sweet treats.

This model comes with three attachments: a flat beater for making batter, meat loaf, and all textures in-between; a wire whip for egg whites, mayonnaise, and more air-infused creations; and a hook for mixing and kneading yeast doughs. All three are solid in construction and easily secured to the beater shaft with a simple twist; untwisting them is a bit trickier because the attachment stems are short and can be hard to grasp, especially if they get the least bit greasy. This model also includes a pouring shield for guiding ingredients to their proper destination, and the bowl itself locks tight to the base.

Standing 14 inches high, jutting out a foot, and weighing more than a grown woman's bowling ball, this stand mixer isn't the sort of appliance you'll wipe down and put away. Better to find a square foot of free counter space for easy access; besides, this machine is as pretty as it is rugged--you'll want to show it off.

To complete the package, KitchenAid includes a spiral-bound guide with instructions, mixing tips, and 67 recipes, from crispy waffles to a caramel walnut banana torte. --Betsy Danheim ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 25 years and still going strong!
This is the only appliance we received as a wedding gift -- from my Mom, of course! :) -- that is still alive and kicking. We'll have our 25th anniversary next month, so I couldn't resist writing this review of something that has been with us since "the beginning."

While I don't haul it out as often as I used to, it's great knowing it's there when I feel like making a ton of cookie dough or mixing up a fabulous cheesecake. My Christmas cookies are a family recipe for "kolachkis" (Polish ?) that use 2 pounds of flour, 2 pounds of butter, and 2 pounds of cream cheese for the dough. There would be no way I'd ever make them without this wonderful ol' beast! It can also grind the walnuts for the filling, and be ready to move on to the pumkin pie filling.

You'll never regret your purchase if you invest in a KitchenAid stand mixer!

5-0 out of 5 stars The standard by which all mixers are judged.
My wife and I got this as a gift for Christmas, and since Christmas I have used this more than my wife!

The ease of use and power this mixer brings to the table makes it the obvious choice for not only the casual cook, but the experienced chef.

The strong moter can handle even the most difficult batters. My wife uses it for cookie dough and cream sauces. The enclosed flat beater works well for those various uses.

I use it and the dough hook to make various breads and pizza doughs. Many of these doughs are very tough and thick, and this mixer handles all of them with ease.

The dough hook quickly beats your dough to a nice even consistency and helps form great gluten for your best bread yet.

Clean-up is easy, and the mixer's classic design looks great sitting on your countertop. This is a must have for anyone looking for a mixer.Look no further!!

I have wanted a KitchenAid Stand Mixer for a VERY long time. I finally broke down and did some price shopping....my machine is in perfect shape!I am extremely pleased with the service. I just can't wait to put the mixer to the test next week when I have to make a wedding cake. I bought this mixer to shorten my time in the kitchen when I am cake baking. 5-0 out of 5 stars Mighty Little Chopper
I just received the KitchenAid KFC3100ER Chef Series Food Chopper and LOVE it.It is very powerful, doesn't leak while making dressings and the red color is very nice also. One draw back...... while it chops, or blends, stuff flys out of the top of the lid where you pour in fluids.I was surprised that there was no cover for it I even checked the box it came in again to make sure I didn't miss it.Hopefully KitchenAid will realize this and make one available for this mighty chopper. In the mean time I suggest using something like foil to place over the lid opening so you don't wear what you are blending or chopping. With that little issue I still give it a 5 star rating you won't be disappointed with it's usefulness and power.Someone mentioned the noise I didn't find it to be an issue, at all.

    Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars So Easy to Use and So Poweful too!
I literally threw out our larger Hamilton Beach Food processor because the lid was so hard to get off, almost impossible. We downsized with a bit of apprehension to a 3 cup size and it's perfect! The first culinary delight I made was some ham salad, everything was processed quickly, quietly [not an issue at all] andevenly. Then of course onions, carrots, relish items, all made in short order. This is an awsome machine that we can easily get the lid on and off and processes powerfully without a problem.I am so thrilled with this machine. There is just the two of us now but we entertain alot. Also so easy to store.I only used a few speeds on the big processor so hitting pulse a few times isn't a big issue at all.We love this little giant!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bang for the Buck
This product is very powerful and reliable.I have owned the cheaper models and this is much much better.I don't know how it compares to a Champion though because I haven't ever used one.To clean the screen/blade simply use a vegetable brush, it won't get completely clean but it will do an acceptable job.You won't be able to use the brush for anything else, probably, but that is an extremely small loss for higher quality of life.
When I get into a massive load of vegetables, unfortunately I usually forget to clean the pulp inside which leads to problems as most of you probably know.I am not a friendly user when it comes to electronics and sort, but this has lasted me well over 5 or 6 years, although I confess I do not juice quite as often as I would like...averageing about once a month.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Juicer Good Price - Find it on sale!
I like this juicer a lot. The only downside is that it is a little loud and for optimum juice production you have to clean the spinning mesh screen every couple of items.Because I liked juicing so much, I thought maybe a more expensive Omega 2005 model would be even better. I bought the Omega but found out that it produced slush instead of juice. I am returning the Omega and staying loyal to Juice Lady. They say that centrifugal juicers heat up juice and kill nutrients, but I think that juicers of this sort have do little damage to the nutrients. Yes it spins and creates some friction, but the juice is not even warm when it comes out. When I tried using the Omega 2005 model, I juiced carrots and apples. I was dissapointed that the quantity of the juice was so bad. The omega produced less than 1/4 of the juice that the Juice Lady did on the same amount of carrots and apples.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great For The Serious Health-Conscience Juicer!

The first electric rice cookers seemed miraculous--perfect rice in minutes with a minimum of fuss. Now, happily, the second generation is here. Equipped with a micro-computerized fuzzy logic temperature control system, Zojirushi's new rice cooker not only knows when rice is done, but cooks to different levels of doneness as well. Want softer rice for making croquettes or harder rice for fried rice? No problem. This 10-cup cooker also has controls for brown rice, white rice, porridge, or grits. You can even make one-dish meals like vegetable rice or jambalaya--the recipes are included. Best of all, the cooker keeps rice warm for a long time--up to 8 hours--without drying out. To save time, you can use the Quick Cook option. The nonstick inner cooking pan conveniently lifts out for adding ingredients, and the electric cord is retractable into the base. A large, easy-to-read LCD clock displays the current time as well as the time to completion so you always know when the rice will be done. --Marianne Painter ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Versatile for soft rices and meals, not for sticky rice
I actually have two of the Zojirushi Neuro Fuzzy rice cookers, including this 10-cup one (for family size and bulk meals) and the smaller 3-cup for cooking plain white rice for 1-4 people. Like the other reviews, this rice cooker makes long- and medium- grain rices perfectly. This includes arborio, jasmine, etc.

Some caveats to mention that were not in the other reviews:

    - While there are many styles of making congee (rice porridge, jook, etc.,) this rice cooker makes the rice expand to soak up the water so that the result is not soupy, but rather has the consistency of say, grits. It doesn't make the rice creamy the way some restaurants do by adding starch. I personally like soupy and creamy styles. This one is somewhere in between.

    - I tried cooking sticky rice, which is used in lotus leaf rice (zhong) or "lo mei gei." In order for this to work, the sweet rice grains must be soaked for several hours before cooking. This can be achieved by setting a timed cook, for example, putting the rice and water in the morning to be done cooking by evening. When I attempted to cook the sticky rice straight up without soaking first, I found that the center was still in kernels while the rice sticking to the edge were correctly cooked to a sticky consistency. (Even if you attempt to cycle through two or three times, this isn't going to work.) Also, I don't recommend cooking more than three cups of sticky rice at any given time. (I had tried 6 cups. It was a disastrous mess.)

Perhaps another reviewer can give better tips on cooking sticky rice in these rice cookers other than pre-soaking the rice.

    - Last caveat: Keeping the rice pot in warming mode for more than an hour after cooking congee can erode some of the inner pot's non-stick finish on the bottom of the pot, but not much.

Just thought I would add some realities after I've had my rice cooker for two or three years. It really is a great rice cooker and I don't regret having purchased both sizes of them.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fun purchase and healthly too
If you look around you can find this great product at steep discounts. The 10 cup cooker is a time saver because one or two day old rice tastes just fine. My big surprise was how much I enjoy eating steel cut oatmeal. Much different then the quick Quaker oats. I followed one reviewer's suggestion and tried Stensels rice out of Louisana. The white popcorn rice is delightful. You can set the unit up to make your oatmeal the night before. The oatmeal will boil over [through the top vent] unless stirred during cooking, but it is easy to clean up. You will eat healthier food with this appliance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the best!
A friend of mine got the Zojirushi rice cooker and highly recommended it to me.I bought one and LOVE it!It makes rice perfectly every time and is extremely easy to use.You can set it to cook the rice to be ready exactly when you want it to, it's easy to clean (I love anything that can go in the dishwasher!) and easy to store.I've since bought another one for another friend for Christmas, I would highly recommend this rice cooker to anyone.None of the others come close in quality! ... With a powerful fan to circulate air, this exceptionally compact toaster oven offers the option of convection as well as conventional baking and roasting, and it also toasts, broils, and rewarms. For roasting and baking, the 1,500-watt toaster oven heats up to 415 degrees and has a broiler setting. A separate set of controls adjusts for toasting. Included with the toaster oven is a baking/broiling pan, an extra removable wire rack for two-tier cooking so a full family meal can be prepared at one time, and two cookie sheets. Recipes offering examples of the toaster oven's full versatility are also included. Though roomy enough inside for six slices of toast, the toaster oven measures only 17 inches wide, 8 inches high, and 12 inches deep overall. It provides continuous self-cleaning and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars good but not great
This model toasts well, bakes well, and the convection feature is a plus. However... the insulation is poor so the oven gets hot to the touch. Also, for the price, the construction feels flimsy. It is however a very good performer. Could be 4-5 stars with better heat insulation.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent convection toaster oven
I didn't think that with the low price and free shipping I would get the best kitchen appliance I have ever purchased. I had shopped around and found this convection oven at twice the price. It is easy to use, convenient, and performs exceptionally well.

We moved recently to Georgia to take care of my elderly parents. My husband and I didn't know whether or not it would be a permanent move so we purchased a mobile home on the property where my parents live. We where having a problem when using the oven. It would heat up the house to a uncomfortable level so we decided to try a convection oven as a alternative. It has really been a great way to cut down on the heat of a regular oven and to save energy at the same time....... ... Read more

This large, durable grill--14 by 10 inches--makes it possibleto enjoy the pleasure of outdoor grilling, without the smoke,year-round and indoors. A heavy, cast-aluminum grill and a sealedelectrical heating element provide uniform heat beneath steaks, burgers, ribs, and other foods whose flavor is enhanced by thecaramelization a grill imparts. For additional flavor, under the grillis a cup into which herbs, wood chips, spices, or other aromatics canbe placed, so their aroma infuses food during grilling. Both cup andgrill are coated with durable nonstick so they readily release food andclean easily. The grill's adjustable thermostat ensures precisetemperature control while cooking various foods. Two big handles, madeof the same thick, black plastic as the grill's base, remove the gratefor cleaning, and a removable splash guard attaches to the grill's rearto protect kitchen walls. --Fred Brack ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A great little countertop grill, but cleaning can be a chore
I received this grill as a Christmas present two years ago, and it's displaced my Crock-Pot as the countertop cooking appliance I use the most.I don't know whether it drains fat more efficiently than the George Foreman grill, but I do like the setup better--the fat drips into the base rather than into a small cup you have to empty. For an outdoor grill aficionado without outdoor space for grilling, this is the next best thing. It heats up quickly and cooks most foods well. However, I found that the manufacturer's recommended setting of medium was not hot enough to grill chicken breasts adequately, and thick foods take longer to cook than they would on a charcoal or gas grill.

The nonstick surface is a real plus, though it degrades in quality over time as many nonstick surfaces do.And while the grill fits in the dishwasher, I find that when cooking red meats, I still have to clean between the slats by hand, and the deep slats are hard to clean between.

The infusion cup adds more scent to the air than it does flavor to the food, but it's still a nice touch and does make some difference in the taste of some foods, mainly lighter fare like chicken or fish.

The grill is a little pricey, but worth it, in my opinion.Amazon.com should reconsider their decision to drop this item in favor of what appears to be a lower-quality but higher-priced DeLonghi model.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth Having
This is the perfect accessory to my Showtime rotisserie and my George Foreman grill. I use it mostly to grill ribs, which can't be done in the GF and which are just too troublesome in the Rube Goldberg Showtime setup.I made some bacon on it this morning and it was absolutely perfect. No burning, no uneven shrinking, no exessive fat, and those little grill marks. It looked like bacon from a TV commercial.

I just break it apart and slip it into my dishwasher. It's much easier to clean than the GF.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best thing I ever did
I love this little item so much I keep it on my counter top.I use it almost daily.I'm grilling aspargus as I write this review.I've been so happy with it, the only problem I'm having is that with continued use, it gets harder to clean.I let it soak after each use but would like to find out how to clean more easily. At first everything just fell off of it when I soaked it.Otherwise, it makes everything taste so good.I'm an expert at grilling Salmon. The chicken breast comes out so juicy and it definitely has a grilled tasted.Don't miss charcoal at all. ... Cuisinart's Four-Slice Belgian Waffle Maker turns anyone into a waffle pro! The waffle maker preheats quickly to the desired temperature setting and maintains that temperature while the baker fusses with pouring the batter. A red indicator light shows that the unit is cooking the waffles and then turns green when they're done. The nonstick coating makes it easy to remove waffles and makes the chore of cleaning out the pockets very easy--just use a paper towel. It's even easy enough that kids can learn how to make breakfast. But make sure they use an oven mitt while opening the latch, as steam escaping from the waffle maker can burn. Even the recipes included in the manual are easy to whip up. --Julija Gelazis ... Read more

I had a KRUPS 2-waffle belgium waffle maker and loved it.Flat wore it out.By the time I was ready to get another, I was ready for a four-waffle maker. AFter reading the reviews, chose this one.The thing is a pain to clean up, and the waffles are soggy. Only way to get a crisp waffle out of this is to burn them.Used it twice and threw it away.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lame at best
First waffle iron failed in the same way as mentioned by others - thermostat wouldn't turn off and the iron got VERY hot and had that electrical smoke smell. Our second one, same iron but different model with the thermostat controls in front instead of on top was defective out of the box. Dark crunchy in the middle, golden brown on the edges.

Don't get one of these. It's my last Cuisinart appliance. ... Read more

When feeling a little groggy in the morning, or wondering where the coffee measure was tossed, or when dreaming of hiring a personal barista, consider the Capresso 3000. With completely automatic functions and stylish good looks, it fulfills all of these desires and doesn't ask for tips.

Easy to pre-set, the Capresso 3000 wakes up first, warming itself up in preparation for the coffee to come. Just stumble into the kitchen, find a clean mug, and set it down under the adjustable coffee spout. If you're in the mood for a cappuccino, pour some milk into a separate cup, so that it can be steamed while the Capresso brews. Then select the quantity and style of coffee wanted by pressing one button and, about 50 seconds later, the espresso or coffee is steaming in the cup. The milk is ready in another 30 seconds or so.

The Capresso 3000 measures out the correct amount of coffee, grinds it according to specifications, tamps it into the filter, brews the espresso, adds water, for an Americano-style coffee, and then discards the used grounds into an easily removable tray. If you'd like an additional shot, it's ready to go. The milk steamer never runs out of steam, since it's run on a separate system, and the removable water tank holds 96 ounces of water. To insure that the Capresso 3000 always makes great-tasting coffee, it also comes with a water filter attachment, two sample water filters, six cleaning tablets, and water hardness test sticks. Oh, and one more thing--the espresso is superb, with a rich, heady cream that made me think I'd died and gone to Italy. --Julija Gelazis

Editor's note: This item may arrive with water inside from the manufacturer's pressure test. This is a normal occurrence and doesn't point to a problem with the machine. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
Below is the message I Sent to Capresso. I think it explains it all. They did not reply until i sent them a follow up letter

    Dear Madam or Sir:

I was very excited about purchasing one of your Capresso Super Automatic Impressa S series machines. The design concepts and convenience appealed to me. Usually (not always!) the higher priced items tend to be of better quality and your machines definitely fall into the higher priced category. Therefore I assumed they would be of the utmost quality. Boy was I wrong.Rather giddy I took the 45 minute drive down to ******** ******* in Wrentham, MA to purchase an Impressa S7 only to find they had none in stock, but they did have factory refurbished C3000 machines. So in having good luck with other manufactures refurbished products, and assuming your company was thorough in its refurbishing process I was comfortable purchasing one at its $1200.00 price tag. Upon arriving home and opening the package I was rather disappointed. The machine was filthy there was still grounds in it, and the surfaces and catch trays all had dried up coffee and sediment on them. So I read the manual and cleaned the machine the best I could. When I went to set it up and attach the frothXpress I found that the Steam nozzle was missing. Figuring I could call and get one shipped to me Monday I continued on. Plugging in the machine and going through the initial rinse phase I got a message to fill the system and press steam. The system was full of water and beans and the steam half of the machine worked. When trying to make a cup of coffee it would grind the beans and then just dump them into the waste tray. After looking through the manual again and checking your website I decided that the machine was defective and boxed it back up. The next morning I loaded it back in the car and made the 45 Minute ride back to the store to exchange it. After making the 45 Minute ride home with the new unit I was happy to find that this one had the steam nozzle. This one was also filthy. During cleaning of the second unit I found that the used coffee container and aroma protection lid where missing from this one. When I powered up the second unit neither the steam nor the brew system functioned with the system full of water and beans. With this I packed it back up and spent an hour and a half to return it to the store, and did not get another for obvious reasons. Mind you that both boxes appeared to be unopened and factory sealed. With all that I found wrong with both units it makes me wonder if your refurbishing process consists boxing them back up and shipping them out or if the fixed units got mixed with the damaged units. I can not see how a company could ship a filthy machine like that with the health concerns involved.

I decided to give your company a second chance today Monday, March 07, 2005 by calling your customer support line. I wanted to find a stocking local retailer where I could buy a new Impressa S7 and express my dismay about the problems I had this weekend. I wanted to buy it locally so if I had more problems I could return it to the store instead of shipping it somewhere. The service representative got me locations down in Providence, RI about an hour and fifteen minutes away from me but seemed irritated that she had to do it for me. I had already tried the net but it returned no results. When I started to mention my problems she showed no interest at all and just worked to get me off the phone without addressing any of my concerns for the product. This left me with a bad taste in my mouth and no real desire to spend $1800.00 on a machine made by your company. The People at ******* ******* where professional, courteous, and sympathetic to my problem though there was nothing they could do for me. It is a shame your company is not the same. All this from a company that makes the claim "People and Attitudes Make a Difference!
Once you own a Capresso product we want to make sure that you feel completely comfortable about your decision" on your website. I am pretty sure my comments will not make it under that section of your site but I can make sure that this letter gets posted with every product review location that I find your products in.

    Disappointed,

    Danny Wilcox

2-0 out of 5 stars Sent for service twice
After two to three months use the machine has clogged and had to be sent in for service.Clogging seems to occur after the message displays to clean machine with the tablet. After doing that, the trouble starts. When it is working it makes great coffee.Don't seem to get answers on how to fix it myself. They just tell me to send it back. Then I am without it for two to three weeks. The local rep has tried to be more helpful than Capresso customer service.Has anyone else experienced this problem?

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for Everybody
Owning and living with the C3000 for over a year, I encourage people to try this before they buy.It takes time to learn how to get good results from this machine.Although semi-automatic, I always make the coffees, due to it's many idiosyncrasies.

Pros: Water container and filter system is really superb. System cleaning is very easy, including periodic maintenance.System status / display panel very good and easy to use. Fast warm-up time, auto shutoff feature.

Cons: It is honestly not the best at extracting full flavor from the espresso beans (compared to my Brasilia) - you really need just the right beans for best results & the first shot is always a tosser. Also, since my SubZero keeps my milk real cold, I have to pre-heat my cups with hot water and even then it is tough to steam the milk to a high enough temperature for serving. Noisy when making coffee.Oily beans jam hopper on grinder.

Overall, I use it only to make quick coffees for myself.I certainly would never attempt to impress anyone with the quality of coffee it produces. ... Read more
