5-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste money on anything else!!!
I just recently purchased the Norpro Bean Frencher and it works betterthan anything else I've tried using. I used to try other methods ofpreparing beans, but I wasted so much strength cutting beans. The NoproBean Frencher will do all your hard work- it'll cut several beans at a timeand slice string cheese with an effortless crank turn. The price iscertainly right and no one can go wrong on this. I like to try as manykitchen products that cut down on cooking or preparing time as I can, andI'm sure everybody will have fun using this. ... Read more

Harold Stainless Steel Corn Cutter

list price: $19.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

When sweet corn grows as high as an elephant's eye, you'll want to pull out this corn creamer. Millions of households use it to extract the full flavor of sweet corn by shredding the kernels to release their milky juices and to "milk" corncobs of even more juices. Because it has a cutting blade as well as little shredding knives, the corn creamer can also be used to cleanly slice whole kernels from ears of corn. Either method produces corn immeasurably tastier than the canned version.

The 17-inch, stainless-steel creamer is simplicity itself. Place it over a pan and butt the long end against a wall or other backstop. Place an ear of corn in the groove and push it over the shredders six or seven times. To slice kernels off a cob, raise the cutting blade by adjusting a screw, cover the shredders with the removable guard, and push the corn over the blade once. Add any combination of milk, cream, butter, salt, and pepper (maybe a pinch of sugar or cayenne, too), and heat either creamed corn or whole kernels gently. --Fred Brack ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The easiest way to make beef jerky!
I bought the Nesco American Harvest Beef Jerky Kit because my family found it daunting to make it the conventional way with steak, marinade and all the mess. My two teenage sons, who always look for the easiest way to do anything, found this to be the most convenient (and tastiest) way to make great beef jerky that is a big hit with all of their friends. You can make different sizes and even add your own condiments to add a little extra zest. Just be sure to keep an eye on your dehydrator every few hours or some jerky may come out drier.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beef Jerkey Lover!!
I used to spend hours cutting beef and then more time mixing marinade. After the jerky was done, lots of cleanup from drips on trays. With this machine, I can prepare 2 lbs of Jerky in about 10 min, then dehydrate until done. Cleanup is also very easy with a little soap and water. The spices taste great! My friends cant believe it's ground beef. I have been making jerky for about 10 years and have used this product for about 5. I have not gone back to the old way of making the jerky. This is easy, simple, clean and fast!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Jerky from Ground Meet
I have owned a dehydrator for more than 10 years and tried many ways to make jerky. This is definately my favorite. The spice packets are the tastiest I have tried and get the best response from friends and family.I have not experienced any problems with the unit, although you do have to fill it quite often. But still, it doesn't take more than 20 to 30 minutes to make 12 trays of jerky sticks (12-15 sticks per tray). Also, if you pack the meet in with the end of a wooden spoon or similar object it eliminates the bubbling and spurting mentioned by others.I love this thing!! ... Norpro Pineapple Cutter

list price: $8.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

Except for its perky yellow plastic handle, the Norpro deluxe pineapple cutter is a formidable weapon, resembling something a member of the Coast Guard might carry to investigate a shark attack. A muzzle of spiked teeth, just shy of 3-1/2 inches in diameter, the cutter looks vaguely evil. The package directions make it sound easy: Slice the pineapple top 1 inch below leaves; press down with even pressure while turning the cutter to the left until you reach the fruit's bottom. But pressing down and turning against the resistance of fibrous pineapple pulp is harder than it looks. The cutting blades are not adjustable and won't cut through rind, so you must use a pineapple measuring at least 4 inches in diameter. If you are soft of heart and weak of muscle, just switch to cans or pay the extra bucks for presliced pineapple chunks in the produce section. But if you don't mind wrestling with your food and you want an alternative to the challenges of hand carving, your efforts will produce a spiffy hollow tube of juicy pineapple flesh ready to slice into rings or chunks for fruit salads, desserts, or baked-ham garnish. Pineapple juice is highly acidic, so follow the care instructions strictly. --Carol Gnojewski ... Read more

Norpro French Bean Slicer

list price: $5.00
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

This little tool--5-1/4 inches long--makes preparing string beans a snap. At the top of the hard-plastic slicer is a razor-sharp, stainless-steel cross blade; use it to remove a bean's top and tail. Then feed the bean into the slicer's funnel, which is spring-loaded to hold the bean firmly, with the bean's string to the outside. Push the bean firmly against the four sharp, stainless-steel blades until the bean slices emerge underneath. Finally, grasp the slices and pull the bean through. Voilà! The string is removed and the beans are cut, French style, into neat slices. --Fred Brack ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars An Inhuman Egg Slicer
What separates human beings from animals is the egg slicer. The Norpro Stainless Steel Egg Slicer does not reflect human dignity in the way that a good egg slicer should.Any good egg slicer radiates truth and grace with each slice. The Norpro Egg Slicer does not.

What we need is an egg slicer that is less functional and more profound. We need a more human egg slicer.

Do not purchase this item---it reeks of animality.

2-0 out of 5 stars Functional but ugly
Don't wash this thing... the shine comes right off and it becomes dull dull dull... but hey, it cuts eggs.

4-0 out of 5 stars mushrooms no problem
I use this slicer to cut mushrooms around 2-5 times per week.I've had it for less than a year.It works great. The slices are nice and uniform, it is easy to use.I bought two on a Friday sale because I had concerns about the durability after reading the other reviews and the product was so cheap. After much heavy use slicing various types of mushrooms I feel this slicer is durable. And yes, it does sound nice when played like a little harp. ...
