Ideal for small families and occasions when kitchen oven space isn't sufficient, this portable 750-watt roaster-oven roasts, cooks, bakes, steams, and slow-cooks any food imaginable--from 150 to 425 degrees F. The roaster has an oval, removable, nonstick cooking pan; a domed, vented lid; and a roasting rack with handles so you can lift casserole dishes and baking pans off the bottom. A wraparound heating element ensures even, moist heat. A cooking-time guide and recipes accompany the roaster, which carries a one-year warranty against defects and is attractive enough to take to the table for serving. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great design, easy to clean . . .
. . . and attractive! This little roaster has it all.Big enough to handle a 12-pound whole boneless turkey, this is a fabulous item for singles or a couple.

I've had an 18-quart Nesco roaster for the past 10 years, and I still say it makes the best roast turkey of any other cooking method. This smaller 6-quart unit follows the same design principles as its larger counterpart: the heat source surrounds the cooking well, so it acts as a "slow cooker" as well as a roaster. You can cook everything from savory stews to roast vegetables to muffins.

The roaster comes with a small recipe book, but you'll find yourself looking for more recipes.Be sure to check out the many slow cooker recipe sources, and don't be afraid to use your own imagination. After all, clean up is a snap.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have for Any Kitchen
I have two Nesco Roasters, a 6 QT and an 18 QT. I don't know how I survived without them.Better than a crock pot. Unlike most crock pots Nesco's have metal inserts not glass. They clean in a breeze and the temp setting allows for not only slow cooking but roasting, steaming and baking.I have yet to make a bad meal and the slow cook feature is great for working people. Put it on in the morning and dinner is ready when you come home. Also, you can get great recepies off the Nesco web site.Buy one, you won't be sorry. ... Read more

Editorial Review

For the whole family, a countertop toaster oven is indispensable. This handsome, compact unit (16-1/2 inches wide, including handles, by 9 inches high by 11 inches deep) toasts six slices of bread for breakfast, broils Junior's burger and Dad's steak, toasts Sis's sandwich, bakes Mom's cake and meat loaf, and heats frozen pizzas while everyone watches television. Inside it's enameled porcelain for even heating. Included is a wire rack that slides into two positions and holds a baking-broiling pan, which comes with a broiling rack, and a thermostat dials up temperatures from "keep warm" to 470 degrees to "toast." Another dial controls toasting from "light" to "dark, " and a third dial, with "broil" or "bake/toast" settings, turns on top and bottom heating elements. Wire rack, pan, and the broiling rack go in the dishwasher, while the interior, exterior, and glass door wipe clean with soapy water. An instruction booklet tells all. --Fred Brack ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars It can be a hazard.
I have also had problems where the timer does not turn off.It keeps ticking past OFF and then continues to ON.So, after you think that it will automatically shut off, it turns itself back on again.Plus, the timer will also get stuck in certain spots and will continue toasting until you smell burning bread or see smoke coming from the toaster oven.It cannot be left unattended.

1-0 out of 5 stars Skip it
I bought this item in December and it is now only September and the timer just broke. The scary part is, it wouldn't turn off and thus became an extreme safety risk for our family. I have had toaster ovens in the past that would've lasted (mechanically) it seems forever. It was that I wanted an newer updated oven that prompted me to purchase this item. My advise would be to skip it and save your family and your money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Momma Mia-- What a toaster!
Remember when Pasta used to be Spaghetti? How about when a toaster used to be the non-discript, chrome-plated appliance that sat on your mom's kitchen table and was about as interesting as a radiator cap? Well, times it seemed, have a-changed. For those of you who insist on agonizing over even the most mundane of purchases,I will indulge (and hopefully enlighten you) on the joys of the DeLonghi Alfredo Ultima Toaster oven.

The DeLonghi, is, first and foremost, an appliance of Italian design and manufacture. That is to say, that it is delightfully quirky, andnothing short of a work of art. Not only does this formidable kitchen device make toast-- but it looks as nice on your kitchen counter as a Ferrari would look in your driveway. Now, the average Ferrari owner doesn't really care whether his (or her) car won't start on rainy days-- or if the sheet metal is continuously on the verge of transforming itself to iron oxide. It's all about STYLE, right? If you're like me, you probably can't afford a Ferrari-- but you CAN afford the DeLonghi toaster! Need I say more? For a few bucks, you can own a little piece of Continental Magic. And, what goes better after a night of moon-lit passion, than a morning repast prepared in an Italian toaster oven? Nothing that I can think of!Sure, you'll have to fiddle with the settings, just like a Ferrari owner has to fiddle with his fuel injection jets, but hey-- isn't that half the fun of owning an Italian "Work of Art"? You bet!

"But, how does it compare to the competition", you might ask. I'll tell you in two words: "WHO CARES!" A toaster oven is, after all is said and done-- ahollow box with 4 iron rods in it. The electricity goes through the rods, which get red-hot, and the result is TOAST. What gives the DeLonghi its charm is its lovely sense of style-- especially the controls which look like they belong on the dashboard of a $60,000 sports car. And yes-- in addition to preparing toast, it will serve as a fully functional mini-oven that might well give your microwave a run for its money. So, who cares if the toast is slightly darker on one side than the other? Not me!Life is about art and passion-- and the DeLonghi toaster will bring a little bit of both to your kitchen. So go ahead-- buy the DeLonghi. For the price, its handsome, functional, and well worth the clearance price-- LMS. ... Read more

This generously sized 1,100-watt General Electric Profile microwave--with its 1.8-cubic-foot inside capacity and wide range of controls--can reheat your coffee, defrost a lasagna, or pop popcorn by the bagful. Editorial Review

By marrying a big nonstick electric griddle to a big nonstick covered skillet, this countertop cooking combination offers big versatility to families, college students, and small households with limited kitchen space. Sautéing, frying, stir-frying, deep-frying, simmering, and braising are all within the griddle-and-skillet's reach. At 11-1/2 inches square, the griddle accommodates plenty of pancakes, burgers, and steaks; at 12-1/2 inches square and 2-1/2 inches deep, the skillet holds up to 4 quarts of chili, stew, or soup. (A recipe booklet is included to offer ideas.) Because the skillet heats on top of the griddle, the griddle's temperature control is calibrated for both griddle and skillet. The skillet has stay-cool handles so it can be carried to the table, and both it and its cover are dishwasher-safe. For upright, compact storage, the entire unit fits into a wire rack. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 years old and going strong!
I have had mine for 5 years and I love it!It is easy to clean and cooks well.I have never had a problem with mine and I would purchase another in a heart beat! Will be giving one for a Christmas gift.

1-0 out of 5 stars Caution - Unsafe product
I have owned two Hamilton Beach Combination Skillet/Griddles.I returned the first one because the on/off switch malfunctioned and the griddle continued to heat in the 'off' position.I received a replacement Skillet/Griddle and it worked fine for several months but now it does the same thing - the on/off switch does not work. It not only heats in the off position - it gets very hot!
PLEASE NOTE:THE ONLY WAY TO TURN THE SKILLET 'OFF' IS TO UNPLUG IT!In my opinion - these skillets are unsafe and should be recalled.

2-0 out of 5 stars Jack of all trades, master of none.
I was given this skillet as a gift, and I'm glad that I didn't pay for it.While the lower half is passable as a griddle (it heats well, has a nice nonstick surface, and is stable on a countertop), its limited cooking area makes it hard to make more than a few small pancakes or a eggs at a time -- not what you want in an electric griddle (otherwise, you'd use a pan, right?).

As an electric skillet, it's decidedly below average. The removable skillet design slows heating, and it's often difficult to achieve simmering temperatures, even with the lid on.Forget simmering with the lid off, because you'll be waiting all day.As a result, it's a terrible braising device -- it's difficult to brown the food, and hard to maintain a simmer.

I would only recommend this skillet to those who are very limited on kitchen space.Otherwise, for about the same price you can buy both a quality electric skillet, AND an electric griddle. ... Read more

Easily master a favorite side dish with the deluxe rice cooker and warmer. With this cooker, rice preparation is as simple as reading the internal markings for water level versus the rice amount. The automatic keep-warm system switches on immediately after cooking is finished, and the Sumiflon pan prevents rice from sticking to the pan for an easy cleanup. It also keeps rice warm and fresh for up to 12 hours after cooking and comes with a 180 cc measuring cup and a plastic spatula for dishing rice, as well as a retractable cord for easy storage. --Madeleine Miller ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
I was looking for a rice cooker and read good things about this one, Zojirushi has a very good reputation. I unpacked it and washed the spoon, non stick pan and measuring cup and started my first batch of rice. It is a 5 cup and it says 1 to 5 cups of uncooked rice so I tried 1 cup. I opened the cover 10 minutes after the cook cycle ended and stirred it and quite a bit of the rice was very brown on the bottom. Also there were little what looked like plastic sheets very lightly stuck to the side of the pan and you could peel them off it was definitely from the rice. I tried another batch with the same results. I contacted Zojirushi directly. I was using Nishiki rice the tech said they used the same. He told me that it can be hard to cook 1 cup of rice. He said ignore the markings in the pan and mix equal amounts of water and rice. He also told me to fill the pan with just enough water to cover the bottom and no rice and run it through the cook cycle and if it looked like raindrops inside when finished it was working properly but if there was a puddle of water left in the pan then the pan was bad. I ended up with a puddle of water and called Zujiroshi back and got a different tech and explained step by step what I did and he said I must have a warped pan, but that should not cause the rice to brown. He told me I should be able to cook 1 cup of rice and to make sure I rinsed the rice until the water was clear. This person told me I should use the markings on the pan. I made sure I rinsed it very good and tried again. With a lot of effort and trying all different things you can get it to be less brown but it also seems like the rice is hard when the cook cycle ends and even after 15 minutes or so after that it seems harder than it should. I have had rice at different peoples houses from basic rice cookers and you just add the water and rice and it comes out great with very little effort and there is no reason why it should take so much efort with this to get just ok rice. I ordered it online and am sending it back(30 day money back refund) and it sounds like the company I ordered it from is saying if they plug it in and the light comes on they will not consider it defective and they will not try to make rice with it. I like the design, it comes apart for easy clean up and I would have to believe something is not right with this but because of the way the company that I bought it from is willing to handle this I am just going to get my 30 day refund back which I am entitled to. My next purchase will be at a local store. So I am left to wonder what was wrong? Would another one do the same? There are not a lot of 5 cup rice cookers around here. My next choice will probably be either the Panasonic SR-SH15PS Which is an 8 cup, a little bigger than I need or a basic National with a glass cover which I would probably go for but I can get the Panasonic for just about the same price maybe a little cheaper.

5-0 out of 5 stars Money well spent!
If you are looking for an easy way to cook rice without the mess, this is it! Add your washed rice, add your water, close the lid..and its done! Cleanup is a snap! And the rice turns out perfect every time....

Editorial Review

A picture book this is not. Jan Weimer has created a rigorous tool and reference for anyone embarking upon a kitchen remodel--a tool to provoke inspiration, provide information, and produce invention. She tells the reader, "I believe hassles are avoidable if you do your homework, stay on top of the job and sever relationships as soon as you see they're not working." In the spirit of her very own words, Weimer then proceeds to convey the knowledge and foresight necessary to carry out such successful remodeling prerequisites, including everything from finding a designer to comparing cabinets, from lighting issues to dishwashers, and from icemakers to a sample contractor's contract. Again, it is not a glossy collection of other success stories, but rather a vehicle for creating your own. ... Read more

I've never written any book review before, but feel compelled to let others know how great this book is.I've looked through over thirty (30) books on kitchen projects-at libraries/in bookstores/from an architect- and found none I wished to own but this one. It's almost too thorough, as many of us just wish to read conclusions and then go on to the next project. This book covers ALL aspects of a kitchen project, including detailed reference/contact material at the end of the book.So don't waste your time reading anything else-- it's the only book on the topic I've actually purchased and I don't regret it for a minute.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy FIRST before any other kitchen books & specialty issues!
I recently completed a major addition to get the professional kitchen of my dreams. For almost a year prior to demolition, I studied just about every other "kitchen book" known to mankind, and saved hundreds of idea-pages from magazines, etc. Then I found Jan Weimer's book, and I so wish I had know about it so much earlier. This book is a must-read for anyone embarking on any type of kitchen renovations. Jan's writing is witty, relating the saga of all the foibles and pitfalls she encountered during her own renovations. But, more importantly, she provides a wealth of information on just about any possible aspect of kitchen overhauls, and far more informative than all the other publications I purchased combined. In retrospect, I would have saved lots of time and money if I had read this book first before starting this project.

5-0 out of 5 stars OXO Soap Pump and Arthritis
Oxo Soap Pump is designed to aid people that have problems with Arthritis. I have had Arthritis for years and in the past couple of years my hands have lost the power to grip and to handle small objects. Oxo had people with Arthritis in mind when they made their products. Oxo Soap Pump is so handy for scrubbing pots and pans, buy 2 or 3 and put them in your bathrooms for ease in scrubbing. Press and dispense the soap and let the bristles do the work.
Thank You Oxo for all your wonderful products.

... and I just might be the world's biggest fan of the entire OXO Good Grips line. But for me this brush is too short and the bristle part is too fat & too soft.HOWEVER! It turned out to be good for something else...Try filling it with a very good moisturizing hand soap and using it *occasionally* to scrub reeeeeeeally grimy hands/nails.I hate to wear gloves while gardening, even in our red messy clay soil, and Aging SuperHubby is still too macho to wear gloves while D.I.Y.-ing, lol -- so this brush has found a home on our utility sink next to the basement door. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Not for people who like cooking or living long lives
Be aware that the recipes in this book are either ridiculously high in fat and/or sodium (and I'm not a low-fat prude by any means) or rely heavily on premade ingredients.

Sample recipe: "Homestyle Chili.Open 3 cans of chili and put them in your slow cooker.Turn it on.Eight hours later, enjoy a delicious home-made chili treat." OK, I'm exaggerating a little. But you get the point.

This book might be acceptable for convenience cooks.Myself, I don't consider a chili recipe a real recipe when one of the ingredients is "canned chili."If you do, maybe this book is for you.Otherwise, there are wayyy better "one dish meal" cookbooks available.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best cookbook ever

5-0 out of 5 stars Great looking casseroles and one-dish meals
I have not yet used any of the recipes in this book but I have
reviewed all of them. The only problem I have with it is that
some people may have to alter the recipes to get rid of some
of the salt and fat. They look absolutely delicious and a book
like this would be used over and over. Pillsbury
cookbooks are my favorites. Their recipes are excellent! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Indispensable
I've owned this cookbook for about 8 yrs.The recipes for the most part require ingredients that can readily be found in most people's cupboard on a typical day. What I really like about this cook book is that except for a few exceptions...every recipe is deeeeeeelicious!!Here are some of the exceptional ones...Chicken Enchilada Casserole, Cheddar Noodle Casserole, Turkey Tortilla Bake, Broccoli Souffle Bake & My Favorite Quiche.Even the kids will eat these..cause the they don't actually see the veggies & healthy stuff inside...they see cheese on top and believe it's yummy to eat..
I recommend this cook book for any person who's rushed for time and rarely has a bunch of gourmet ingredients in the house.

3-0 out of 5 stars Quck and easy BUT...
Yes this book has recipes that are quick and easy, I will give it that. It also has basic ingredients that can be found in everyone's kitchens. My major problem with this book is that it doesn't list the nutritional information for each recipe. So if you are trying to watch your waistline or sodium intake this book is not for you. It is definitely a book full of comfort food that your Grandmother uses to make!

5-0 out of 5 stars I Couldn't Live Without My Copy!
If the burden of cooking ever falls on you as it has fallen upon me (for a grouchy "bear" of an Uncle) you'll love this book as much as I do! It is full of quick and easy dinner recipes that are made from commoningredients found in most kitchens. And the taste is superb, good enough tosatisfy the pickiest of eaters. 1-0 out of 5 stars Awful! This doesn't keep high enough heat
For being a WOK, this should be able to keep high enough temperature. It doesn't.I love making Asian food & this just does not heat the dish.Mongolian beef...it stinks with this appliance. The veggies end up getting too cooked, while trying to compensate all ying and yang. All it's good for are pot stickers & egg rolls...and even then they don't turn out as well.

I will stay with my traditional wok for the gas stove...nothing else beats the heat & flavors with cooking Asian.

5-0 out of 5 stars great item
I use the elec wok for all kinds of cooking. Its not just for stir fry. I have done roasts/turkey and other meats plus potatoes and veagies. The one I have is 17 years old and well used. I am looking to buy another one as soon as I can find one close to home. I would recomend this product to any one who loves to cook and eat great food.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Electric Wok Ever Made!
I have had this wok for a few years. It continues to perform in the best quality!

I prefer an electric wok because I prefer to cook on a surfacelarger than my stove.I use this wok to cook at the table - the wokstir-fries vegetables hot and fresh and crisp-tender.Anyone who has beento a restaurant like Benihana appreciates an at-table cooking experience! The wok has a temperature range from 150 to 400 degrees and it adjuststemperature quickly, heating and cooling very fast. It cooks beef, fish, and chicken to tender perfection. The handles of the wok are cool-touch/nopotholders needed!

The non-stick surface is a definite bonus. You canstir-fry vegetables with no fat, or a light coating of a butter flavorspray, or a misting of olive oil.It also enables you to add a minimumamount of more expensive oils like sesame. You get that tremendous flavorwithout excessive oiliness!

Think you will only use this wok for Asiancuisine? Think again! I have used this wok to make scrambled eggs for acrowd (it heats them quickly and they are so moist and tender), beefstroganoff, and a multitude of vegetarian dishes. The only thing I don'trecommend it for is deep-fat frying. The wok is made of a thin layer ofmetal that is great for stir fry cooking but I find a chicken fryer with aheavier layer of steel is more suitable for deep-fat frying.

The steamerrack is great for making chinese dumplings.I've also used it to moistenday-old rolls!

I've taken this wok to church suppers and work potlucklunches. You can plug it in like a crock pot on the lowest setting(Warm/Simmer) and it will keep your food at an even temperature.I've madeBarbecue Butterflied Mini Smoked Sausages in it and everyone raves abouthow good they taste and that they're nice and warm. The lid makes anattractive presentation, and has a cool-touch handle. The best featureabout this wok is that it is fully immersible.Just remove the heatingplug (the whole unit unplugs with one pull) and immerse and wash. The lidand the wok can both go into the dishwasher, but since it's nonstick itcleans up easily with a sponge and soapy water. It's a bit big to fullyimmerse in a small kitchen sink, but you can wipe it down quickly.

I lovethis wok.Do yourself a favor and buy it-it's well worth the price! ... Read more
