4-0 out of 5 stars Come On, O'Brien's Great
I have had this book for a while, but I feel obligated to defend it when I see these other poor reviews.

I must admit to being a big fan of "The Style Guy" and that I always flip to his column while I stand in line in the store, GQ in hand. But I'm a fan because of his wit and sense; he's good.

This book is valuable because it does offerpractical advice for business or business casual and will be helpful to any young guy starting out.

If you would enjoy a fairly literate book with pretty conservative but contemporaryviews on style then you would like this.If you are more interested in a Tom Ford worldview than you might want to look elsewhere, but I would have no idea where.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Bore
O'Brien's columns for GQ are useless, this book is ever more so. Sarcasm and acting like a smart-ass are his trademarks. Both are absolutely boring from such a witless person.

1-0 out of 5 stars Help Keep this Man Employed
It's nice to see that leftover 70's trend merchants can still make a living re-packaging their columns. Please buy the book now, since nearly all of this "advice" will stop making sense the moment the Rat Pack Revival evaporates. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Balancing raw power with shades of vulnerability, Gaye rose to the top of Motown's roster without the benefit of a supporting vocal group. Whether singing love songs or social commentary, Gaye's voice displays an earnestness and sincerity that are a soul singer's most potent weapons. Among these 47 hits are his memorable duets with Mary Wells, Kim Weston, and Tammi Terrell along with Motown staples such as "Can I Get a Witness," "How Sweet It Is," "Ain't That Peculiar," and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." This 2 CD set also covers socially conscious 1970s originals such as "What's Going On," "Mercy, Mercy Me," and "Inner City Blues." Only his last hit, "Sexual Healing," is left out. --Marc Greilsamer ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazon has double listed the 2nd disc
The track listing for the second disc has been repeated. There are only twenty (20) songs on the second CD, not forty (40).

BTW, great album. This is the best 'best of' collection/ compilation/ anthology of Marvin Gaye's work, outside of the box set.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb anthology
Marvin Gaye was a great singer who lived from 1939-1984. He had a tremendous vocal ability that allowed him to sing sweet soul music, politically-aware commentaries, hard funk, disco-ish stuff and eco-friendly classics all with equal conviction. As a boy in 1985 I remember TWO tribute songs to him that charted in the US Top 10 - a measure of the esteem in which he and his music was held. As one of the original Motown artists, he helped to define the golden era of mid-60's pop music, and trumped even this with his great album What's Going On in 1971.

This superb anthology from the Motown vaults is packed with great songs, and I have been a big fan of this record since discovering it in 2001. I cannot recommend this more highly to those Amazon shoppers who may yet be unaware of this great vocalist.

By the way, these Motown Anthology 2CD sets are not to be missed. Try out The Supremes and The Temptations also in this series.

5 stars!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Diary of a Motown and Soul Music Legend
Now I know that some of you are disappointed that Marv's last hit (at least on the pop charts), "Sexual Healing", is not in this fabulous collection of classic hits but let's face it, it chronicles his time as a MOTOWN artist. So of course they weren't going to include an out-of-label hit even if the hit was viable to that star's career. Same thing they did with Diana Ross and Michael Jackson's anthologies.

Anyway, this 2-CD (or 2-tape) collection of 67 songs, 40-some known hit singles and some album cuts, b-sides and rarities is the PERFECT album for a true artist like Marvin Gaye was. Many cats can only wish that they can have the hit catalogue that this brotha from the Chocolate City had! I mean, he was not only just a popular singer who recorded some of the 20th century's greatest songs and albums known to mankind, but he was also a great writer, producer, arranger, mixer, musician and instrumentalist not to mention he already had a career as a lead singer of two R&B groups in the late-'50s before signing with Motown in 1961 to be a jazz singer (his original intention of rebelling against what people were telling him how he should be).

And then you can't forget his LEGENDARY and AMAZING duets with classic R&B female legends like Mary Wells (the first female superstar of Motown), Kimberly Weston, the wonderful and memorable Tammi Terrell and last but not least the Motown Queen, Diana Ross. So not only has his career spread four decades but in the middle of it, he was able to be in a couple of groups, be a legendary duet partner and he even played in a couple of movies or three.

But anyway back to the anthology set of Marvin! The man's hit career spreads into three or four or even five different periods at a time:

Suave Gentleman (1962-67)
Soul Loverman (1967-70)
Patriotic Ghetto Warrior (1971-1972)
Romantic and Erotic Ladies' Man (1973-1977)
Confessional Ghetto Preacher (1978-1981)

The first CD (full of 20 solo hits and 7 wonderful duets) may be the most interesting of the anthology set. It shows Marvin at first reaching his inner Sam Cooke in the early portion of his career going from "Stubborn Kind of Fellow" to "Baby Don't U Do It" and then finding his own voice slowly from "How Sweet It Is" and then finally finding his vocal POWER in songs like "You" (check out the HIGH note near the middle of the song!) and "Grapevine". And then there's the memorable duets with Tammi Terrell that are the essence of true soul. Marvin & Tammi should both be inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame just for the five songs listed on the album.

But then again, the second CD of the anthology set can be the most complex! I mean, this is when Marvin Gaye took FULL ARTISTIC CONTROL and gave us the legendary albums WHAT'S GOING ON, TROUBLE MAN, LET'S GET IT ON, MARVIN GAYE LIVE, I WANT YOU, HERE, MY DEAR, and IN OUR LIFETIME (which was Marvin's first entry into the '80s). You would fall in love with the different production of "What's Going On", without so much of the people talking and just the music, it also shows more of Marvin's vocal backings in its beautiful pitch. "God Is Love", even with its short time, is classic MOTOWN with a gospel-soul feel to it. You had a feeling R. Kelly was listening closely to this album while making Step In The Name of Love. "Sad Tomorrows" with its different feel of a bluesy and classical feel and with that soul is different from the album version (Flying High) from What's Going On and it's also breathtaking that you have to play it over and over. "The World Is Rated X" and "You're The Man" is the brotha's finest work as a political preacher as he sung about the social ills of the world and the political administration. And of course songs from the wonderful "Let's Get It On" album is produced brilliantly here. "Just to Keep U Satisfied" is classic doo-wop!

Then you get into the live recording of "Distant Lover" even while edited (for album purposes) and well it's still a masterpiece. "I Want You" and "After the Dance" are classics and of course "Got to Give It Up" is a blue-light in the basement party anthem that is still hot even after all these years. Finally Marvin's later work with "Here, My Dear" and "In Our Lifetime" are produced and helps brings a climatic ending to the entire 2-CD set.

From "Stubborn Kind of Fellow" in 1962 where he was in love with a girl but somehow stubborn to his or his woman's feelings to when he was looking for love in 1981's funky "Heavy Love Affair", it's particularly the Diary of Marvin Gaye. Nobody in soul music was like this cat and there will be nobody like him again no matter what you say! Marvin Gaye is forever the Original King of R&B! (TAKE THAT, WHITNEY, HA-HA!) ... Read more

Makita 6233DWBLE 3/8" 14.4-Volt Drill/Driver Kit with Flashlight

Tools & Hardware
list price: $383.00

Editorial Review

This kit combines Makita's much-touted 14.4-volt cordless drill with a stout little job site flashlight that runs off the same long-life NiMH battery. Compared to standard nickel-cadmium batteries, the enviromentally friendly NiMH gives you 30% longer run time and boasts an impressive 2.2 amp hrs. The drill is a little heavier than some of its competitors, but its ergonomic design and extremely well-balanced construction more than make up for its extra weight. In fact, this drill, which delivers the most torque of any drill in its class, was the winner of Popular Science's Best of What's New award in December 1998. The drill's distinctive tip-up design makes for easy use all day either overhead or at shoulder height. Clutch settings change easily, too, and the amount of trigger response in both speed settings (up to the maximum 1,300 rpm) caught our attention. In particular, the Makita has remarkable touch at slow speeds--unlike many other similar drills--which of course lets you start drilling and driving with maximum control. The tight-gripping, 3/8-inch keyless chuck system works great. And--like practically everyone else in the world--we really appreciate the attention to detail and quality in Makita's legendary motor. Simply put, this is a tool designed for extended use under the toughest job site conditions. The tool's brushes are accessible from the outside, too, and easily replaced--a handy feature you won't find with other brands. --Justin Paul ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars weak batteries
this is a good drill but the batteries do not last very well.
they dont hold up as good as my 12 volt porter cable drill batteries do.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny!
...

This baby rocks! The exquisite balance, lightness and amazingly precise speed trigger-control make every job a pleasure.I love thatyou don't have to run the battery all the way down before you can recharge them, with these Nickel Hydrides. It has plenty of torque when you need it, too...but oh, what a difference that fine control makes: using self-drilling screws, I can now tackle metal doors as quickly and easily as drywall!Finesse, power, comfort...what more can you ask for?

I only wished I'd gotten one of these years ago!

4-0 out of 5 stars Batteries good for only two years of daily use
As an assembler working for Wal-Mart, I use two Makitas daily. Have found that the batteries last two years-ONLY. It is amazing. It works great with absolutely no problems for two years then like a switch, all four batteries go bad. This has happened not with one or two drills, but four different drills with eight batteries! ... Read more

Bring the art of the cocktail home with this three-part cocktail shaker, which has a tumbler, a snug-fitting lid with a built-in strainer, and a small cap (which doubles as a shot glass or taster) that fits over the strainer. Just fill the tumbler with ice, add the ingredients of a favorite shaken cocktail, fasten the lid and cap, shake vigorously to mix and rapidly cool the contents, remove the cap, and strain into a glass. Unlike shakers plated with stainless steel or chrome that ice easily wears through, this shaker is constructed of solid stainless steel that will hold up to years of cocktail party usage. --Pamela Zytnicki ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Definately not impressed.
This shaker is not of the quality I expected. It is very thin metal and neither top fits correctly.Due to the poor fit of the smaller of the two tops, it is sometimes necessary to hold it on while shaking.I find this setup clumsy.

The large top fits a bit too tight and I could hardly even get it off. All in all I would not recommend this shaker. Even if your just concerned with having something that looks good on the bar. The shape is very sleek and cool but I feel that the metal causes it to simply look cheap.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dribbles all over
Looks fine, but this shaker dribbles all over. There is almost no lip above the strainer top, and when you try to pour out your drink afterwards it tends to run down the shaker. The strainer portion is also difficult to pop off (it's tough to get a grip on it). I have another shaker with none of these problems, so the contrast is pretty obvious. I returned mine.

1-0 out of 5 stars Great Form - Poor Function
As it sometimes happens in design, a really beautiful piece doesn't workas well as it looks.Such is the case with this cocktail shaker. It'sbeautiful in form but weak in function. The style is great but it is messyto use. At least one ounce of a drink will go up into the cap whileshaking. If it does not settle back into the container, it runs down thesides and all over your hands, counter, floor etc. when you take the capoff.Pouring from the shaker is equally as messy due to the badarrangement of the holes in the strainer.I was really disappointed andsent mine back. ... Tae-Bo Workout
by Billy 4pak Blanks Billy Blanks
Average Customer Review: 4.0 out of 5 stars
DVD (16 November, 1999)
list price: $49.95
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

Billed as the "future of fitness" and hawked by numerous celebrities, Billy Blanks's Tae-Bo actually deserves much of the hype it's receiving. A mixture of boxing punches and martial arts kicks, Tae-Bo is fun and easy. One of the best elements of this four-tape set is that the first tape (which is 40 minutes long), Tae-Bo: Instructional, lays out the movements you need to successfully complete a workout. Once you've mastered the steps, you won't have to fast-forward through half the tape to get to the workout, nor will your workout be slowed down by the repeated lessons. After you feel comfortable with the movements (and they're really quite easy to follow; nothing too complicated to trip you up), you're ready to move on to Tae-Bo: Basics, a 27-minute workout (5 minutes of warm-up, 18 minutes of Tae-Bo, and 4 minutes of cool-down) that will have your heart pounding and your body sweating. Next comes Advanced, a 57-minute workout that will have your heart racing, pulse pounding, and sweat glands working overtime. There's razzmatazz on the moves, with slightly more complicated combinations that should be fairly easy to master if you've completed the first two tapes. This video seriously raises the bar on the difficulty factor.

In addition to the short warm-up, the cool-down, and the 30 minutes of Tae-Bo, Advanced Tae-Bo also includes 18 minutes of muscle-crunching floor work. You know you're in trouble when even the guys in the tape have trouble keeping up. Make sure you have truly mastered the first two tapes before attempting this one. The 8-Minute Workout is a highly compacted workout (actually 14 minutes long when you include warm-up and cool-down) for those days when you're too short on time for Basic or Advanced. While the 8-minute idea is compelling, it's not an adequate substitute for the longer workouts. Blanks, a seven-time World Martial Arts champion, is a superb instructor, providing encouragement and careful instruction (if you don't know by the end of the tape to hold in your stomach, that's no one's fault but your own). The only downside to these tapes is the less-than-exciting music. Not only is Tae-Bo great exercise for all levels, but the punches and kicks are wonderful for working out stress and aggression. This is the aerobics exercise video for people who are bored by aerobics. --Jenny Brown ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Must-have introductory package for Tae Bo beginners!
I've been doing Tae Bo for about 15 months, and have dropped 30 pounds (and counting!).I started at a very unhealthy 140 pounds (just for reference, I'm 5'4"), and I'm now down to a lean, mean, fighting-machine 110.I'm in better shape than I've ever been, and I owe it all to Tae Bo!

Before starting Tae Bo, I had tried several other workouts, to no avail. At one point I was working out with Jane Fonda an hour a day, every day, and was actually gaining weight!I bought the Tae Bo original 4-pack on a whim, but it sat on my shelf for years before I finally gave it a go - I had watched my sister do it, and it just looked too hard.Eventually I had trouble squeezing into my fat jeans and, frustrated, I made the commitment to lose some weight and stick with Tae Bo for at least a year.

I began by watching the Instructional video for a week and practicing the moves.Admittedly, this was rather tedious - the pace is very slow and you end up standing around most of the time. However, correct form is essential, both to prevent injury and properly work the targeted muscle groups. Before beginning even a Basic workout, you should definitely run through the Instructional video a few times. You won't regret it!

Once I had the moves down, I went on to the 30-minute Basic workout, and stuck with it for six months.I was so horrendously out of shape that I had to stop for breathers, even though Billy gives you plenty of rest in between exercises. It took quite some time before I was comfortable with the moves, but I did get there. If you're new to Tae Bo (or to exercising in general), you'll probably find even the Basic workout to be challenging.Don't give up, though - it might take some time, but you WILL see improvement.I was very frustrated at first, as I didn't start shedding the pounds right away, and my lack of balance was a significant obstacle.Around the fourth month, though, I noticed some definite improvement, and was confident enough after month six to move on to the Advanced workout.

Initially, I found the Advanced workout to be difficult, but after a few months I had mastered it as well.By this time I had lost about 20 pounds and gained a ton of confidence.I finally retired the original Tae Bo workouts six months ago and moved on to the Get Ripped and Ultimate Abs/Butt series. After seeing how demanding the newer workouts are, I'm extremely glad I started with the original 4-pack - had I overestimated my abilities, I seriously doubt that I would still be doing Tae Bo.I probably would have given up within the first week instead!

The Advanced workout, which runs 55 minutes, is paced more quickly than the Basic workout, though it's much slower than, say, the Get Ripped Advanced workout or the Ultimate Abs/Butt DVD.In addition to the kicking/punching combos that you learn in the Basic workout, you also do some floor work for your abdominals and gluteals.Billy really introduces a wide variety of exercises during this session, many of which you'll see again if you try out other videos. This is a great intermediate workout - it really bridges the gap between the Basic workout and the more intense Advanced workouts that he produced later on.

For anyone who's new to Tae Bo, I'd definitely recommend that you pick up this 4-pack before buying anything else. Each workout builds on the previous one and, when viewed in succession, they offer a great introduction to Tae Bo.If you try to just jump right in with an Advanced workout, you'll not only get discouraged, but you might even hurt yourself. For those of you who are shopping around for a new fitness program, look no further - Tae Bo is fun and effective.Plus, with so many different DVDs available, you'll never get bored or plateau.Should you find your mind wandering or your weight loss stalling, just try another workout.

A word of caution - Tae Bo certainly isn't without its flaws. The production quality isn't the best (this is especially true with the earlier videos).Billy also tends to switch quickly from one move to the next, and to do uneven repetitions on each side (a problem he has yet to resolve).Nonetheless, this is the best workout series I've tried. It's transformed me from a couch potato to a fitness freak!

- Kelly Garbato, Tae Bo "Hero"

5-0 out of 5 stars Really Worked For Me
I got the VHS set of this several years ago, and reluctantly tried it out one night. Before I knew it, I was hooked!

I went from around 220 down to 165 in my prime in the area of 6 or 7 months just using the beginner and then the intermediate tapes.

The excercises are easy to follow and once you get the hang of it, its quite enjoyable. I used to look forward to doing my workout every weeknight.

If they worked for me, they certainly can work for you!

5-0 out of 5 stars The ones that started it all!
I have been doing TaeBo faithfully for about 5 years now. This was the first set I bought. I spent about two months on the instructional workout. It was not aerobically challenging for me but I really wanted to have the moves down. I moved on to the Basic Workout, and even though I was already in pretty good shape because I still used my NordicTrak machine while I was learning TaeBo, the Basic workout just about killed me! Once I got going though, I got the "exercise high" the first time ever, and I was hooked! I made my friends crazy talking about TaeBo. I spent a few months on the Basic and then moved on to the Advanced. Once again, it just about killed me! I stuck with it, lost about 15 pounds, and am now in great shape. I continue to use the Advanced along with other TaeBo DVDs and am still losing some weight, even though I'm also addicted to chocolate!

If you want a really hard workout, TaeBo Advanced is it! My advice is to take time to learn the moves properly, so you get the best workout possible and avoid injuries. The better your form is, the better your workout will be. Have fun and get fit! ... Read more

Creative Labs NOMAD II 64 MB MP3 Player Blue
Average Customer Review: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Electronics (14 August, 2000)
list price: $329.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

Dubbed a Personal Digital Entertainment (PDE) device by Creative Labs, the Nomad II is one of those gadgets that's so fun to play with you'll find yourself forgetting it's useful, too.

When portable MP3 players first hit the market a year or so ago, they were relatively simple devices good for one thing: playing MP3 files. Now it seems, as companies have learned consumers want more than just that, today's devices can no longer be described as just MP3 players.

This version ships with a 64 MB removable SmartMedia card, but we had mixed feelings about Creative's decision to rely solely on removable media. While it has its advantages, in the form of being able to swap out the kind of music you're listening to, we would have preferred 64 MB of onboard memory, with a SmartMedia expansion slot so we could increase the capacity even more if needed.

The Nomad II ships with software called the Creative Digital Audio Center, which is basically a full version of MusicMatch Jukebox Deluxe 5.0 with a Creative Labs skin on it. We liked this addition simply for the fact that MusicMatch Jukebox is simple software to use for creating MP3s from CDs and other audio files. Likewise, while we found the Nomad II Manager software easy to navigate and use, we were left with the feeling that some options were sacrificed in the name of ease-of-use. For instance, the ability to change the order of songs in memory would have been welcome.

From an audio perspective, the Nomad II couldn't have performed any better. The equalizer had good settings, and the ability to program user-defined settings was awesome. Furthermore, a wired remote control and bass-enhanced, behind-the-head style headphones completed the package.

As additional memory is still relatively expensive, and most of us don't have extra cards lying around the house, there will come a time when you'll tire of the songs on the device. And without the presence of your PC--and no additional SmartMedia cards--you're at a loss. This is when the Nomad II's FM tuner came in handy. During morning commutes, it was easy to toggle between The Howard Stern Show and NPR, as the player holds up to 32 FM station presets.

The Nomad II's third--and most overlooked--feature is that of a digital voice recorder. As voice recordings aren't the memory hogs that music files are, the Nomad II can record up to four hours' worth. This feature is perfect for dictating messages to yourself or for the fledging journalist recording interviews. The Nomad II Manager software even allows users to upload voice files from the Nomad II to your PC.

MP3 players are great for music lovers on the go. Because they have no moving parts, they're well known for skip-free music. To test the Nomad II, we loaded it up with some hip-hop and headed down to the local BMX spot in San Francisco. With the player clipped on to a belt, we put it through its paces over a multitude of jumps and with more than enough crashes. We did our best to make it skip, but it performed perfectly (though beware--the Nomad II isn't scratchproof). Only after the battery started to get low (the Nomad II offers anywhere from eight to 10 hours of playback time) did performance degrade. But this was easily remedied by dropping in a new AA battery.

MP3 music--like everything else technology related--is in a constant state of flux. To that end, the Nomad II ships with reprogrammable firmware that should enable it to support future digital-audio formats and software extensions as they emerge. So, hopefully, you'll be enjoying your Nomad II for years to come. --William O'Neal

Sean Connery casts a long shadow over the James Bond legacy. He created the movie personaand starred in six of the first seven features, all but establishing the cool cold warrior as theworld's most suave secret agent. The six titles in MGM's third collection celebrate the Connery Bondwith three of his classics, including From Russia with Love, 007's second and perhaps finestouting. A blond, buff Robert Shaw plays Bond's most ruthless nemesis, and Lotte Lenya and the greatPedro Armindáriz costar in this sleek, high-energy trip through the Iron Curtain. After a briefretirement, Connery returned for Diamonds Are Forever, his final "official" appearance in theBond series (15 years later he played Bond for a rival studio's Never Say Never Again). Thismore tongue-in-cheek adventure takes 007 to Las Vegas, where he battles Blofeld (this time played byCharles Gray) and his minions--namely, a pair of fey, sardonic henchmen and a team of bikini-cladkarate killers.

The torch was passed to TimothyDalton in The Living Daylights, an attempt to clear away the camp elements of Moore'sportrayal and return to a lean, hard-edged spy thriller for the post-cold war era. It lacks thelarger-than-life characters and spectacle of previous Bond pictures, but Dalton was a tough, ruthless 007 and a worthy inheritor of the legacy, which was then passed on to Pierce Brosnan.

The DVD editions of the films each feature audio commentary by the director and key members of thecrew, "making of" documentaries, and a host of stills, TV spots, trailers, and other supplements.--Sean Axmaker ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars James Bond Collection Vol. 3, VHS
Not a bad collection of Bond material, however, this is a mix of various Bond movies with a variety of leading Bond actors. I recommend looking into the 1996 Collections that have the videos in chronological order and primarily by actor. JAMES BOND 007 Collector's Set, Vol. 1 includes all six Broccoli-produced Sean Connery Bond films, to include a 1995 documentary video. JAMES BOND 007 Collector's Set, Vol 2 includes all seven Roger Moore films and Timothy Dalton's first film. Although these sets are out-of-print, they are still available as used and collector's sets through Amazon.com's Marketplace. If you're like most fans, you'd prefer to have the movies that include your own favorite "leading-Bond-man"!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Collection, but buy the new set
The studio has just re-released this James Bond set three so don't buy it from the scalpers here wanting two to three hundred plus dollars. Amazon will be selling the new re-release Set three as of November 17th. My advice to you is you can buy all three new re-released sets for what the scalpers here want for just this one older set three. The set itself is great. Some of the best James Bond movies are in this set. The picture and sound quality are great and they include many extra features. You can get the new sets for under ninety dollars.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bond NO.3
The third collection of the James Bond series has some of the best of the films, and in contrast, some of the not-so-good films. Starting off with DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER with Sean Connery as Bond, this one is somewhat lacklustre in comparison to the early 007 films, but there's still some fun to be had with some cool car chases through Vegas and an ensamble of menacing villians. The second entry into the Bond franchise, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE is brilliant entertainment taken from Ian Flemming's best novel. Everything clicked in this one after the sometimes shaky DR NO (Due mostly to the increase in budget), from Connery's commanding performance, to some gripping action and the late, great Robert Shaw as a ruthless assasin. Gadgets, cool action and the entry of Q, played by Desmond LLewelyn. Masterfully constructed, FRWL is one of the greatest films ever made.
Following Roger Moore's long list of films, Timothy Dalton made his debut as the charming secret agent in THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS. While the action is impressive, the film falls short of having any meaty villians. But Dalton is much closer to the mark with the character of Bond in Flemming's books. His performance, restrained at times, is a more cold portrayal than Moore. OCTOPUSSY is one of Roger Moore's better films, but John Glen's ham-fisted direction leaves the film with little in the way of inventive action. Last but not least, YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE. Connery is good, but not up to his usaul standards. This collection, while impressive, is perhaps best suited for hard-core fans rather than action buffs. ... Read more
