1-0 out of 5 stars This is supposed to be non-stick, right ?
I either got a bad one, even though it looks all right externally or I am doing something wrong.
I tried it 3 times on homemade-from-scratch pizza yeast dough. The dought stuck to the pad no different than it stuck to my kitchen countertop. Tears off leaving pieces behind and requires flower on it make it let go.
I've had it for too long now or I would return it. I kinda went the rave reviews this thing got so far when I bought it, but to my dough it sticks like glue. I am sorry I bought it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great addition to the kitchen, especially for bakers
The Silpat Baking Sheet is a great little tool for bakers to have on hand. Its slippery, silicone, oven-safe surface is completely non-stick--simply place the Silpat over your favorite cookie sheet, add dough, bake, and viola, no more sticking!(The only down side is that unless you have more than one Silpat, you can't start putting the second batch on a second cookie sheet while the first batch is still in the oven.)You can also easily transfer your baked cookies to a rack to cool without removing them from the Silpat. My favorite use for the Silpat, however, is not in the oven; rather, I love using it to roll out dough. For pie crusts (when I make them from scratch, that is!), I sprinkle a little flour on the Silpat, roll out my dough, and then use the Silpat to transfer the dough to my pie pan; the Silpat makes this job SO much easier than rolling out directly on the counter or even on other types of plastic mats I have tried.Overall, this is an excellent, versatile product that is well worth the cost for baking enthusiasts.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sheet lightning
If it's in-line skates one week, it's junior scooters the next! As a parent it's so difficult keeping up with all the latest children's sporting crazes. This seasons must-do activity has taken the Home Counties by storm, and looks set to do the same over the pond. Teatraying, a more up-market version of polybagging, sees youngsters all over West Hertfordshire excitedly climbing the staircases of their parent's country pile. Having reached the top floor, they straddle a tea-tray, and launch themselves with gay abandon off the landing, riding the unforgiving carpet all the way back down the stairs to land in a giggling heap on the hallway tiles.
This beautifully constructed Silpat Baking Sheet is the Nimbus 2000 of the teatraying world. Your child will surely feel just like Harry Potter (on a baking sheet rather than a broomstick) when they're accelerating over the Axminster. It'll give them a good 2 yards head start on any other competitor in a teatray race, as the sheet itself is lovingly crafted from the finest non-stick silicone - causing very little friction between the tray and the carpet. It'll even glide over Persian rugs with ease!
So, all in all, this would be a fantastic purchase, and is warmly recommended. Top marks! ... Read more

    Editorial Review

This traditional wooden rolling pin flattens pastry and pizza doughs quickly and smoothly, but doesn't take up as much storage space as a large pin. Its barrel is 9-3/4 inches long and 2-1/2 inches in diameter, and has ball bearings to ensure smooth rolling with minimal effort. The barrel is unfinished, so flour can fill in the grain during repeated use, creating a nonstick surface. A wood rolling pin should be wiped clean with a damp cloth and dried. --Fred Brack ... 3-0 out of 5 stars bearing issue
This rolling pin appeared to be very workable, unfortunatly what is described as "Ball-bearing action" does not mean true Ball-bearing construction, the interior is lined with teflon.

5-0 out of 5 stars nice
this rolling pin does a great job with everything.
Pasta, pastry, biscuits, etc. It's heavy enough to do a big job without having to go to the commercial size stuff.
    For family kitchens it's perfect.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Wooden Rolling Pin
Kaiser has been a German manufacter of high-quality commercial bakeware since 1919. For home patisserie chefs, their La Forme line is considered to be state-of-the-art bakeware. I've been fortunate to collect several pieces, including springform pans andsome specialty bakeware. Each La Forme pan comes packaged in a gift box.

For several years now, I've been buying most of my new bakeware on the Internet. When I decided to buy a new wooden rolling pin, I ordered one from a well-known Manhattan commerical restaurant supply. I had to send it back because it was too large and too heavy for me to use. Then I ordered this Kaiser wooden rolling pin, which has the perfect size and weight for me to use when rolling out pie, cookie, biscuit, and pizza doughs.

Like all quality rolling pins, it has ball-bearing construction so that doughs roll out evenly. I lightly flour my wooden baking board and rub some on the rolling pin, too, so that the dough won't stick to it when I am making pizza crust. I have a stockinette knit tube that slips over the rolling pin when I use it for rolling out pie dough on my canvas pastry cloth. I rarely wash my wooden rolling pin with soap and water; I just wipe it off after each use with a damp dishcloth and allow it to air dry. Kaiser also makes a great kids' 4 inch wooden rolling pin, which can be purchased separately or as part of a kids' wood accessories set that includes a blending spoon, pastry brush, tasting spoon, and pastry cutter. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great for flour
Used this sifter for a cake and frosting and got mostly great results. The flour went right through - I was amazed at how quickly it worked. The confectioner's sugar for the frosting didn't go as quickly, but the sweeper at the bottom worked very well for breaking up clumps.I much prefer this to my old crank-style sifter, and it's infinitely better than the trigger style ones, which are just too big for my hands (not to mention impossible to clean). It would be better if it worked faster for powdered sugar, but it can't be beat for flour.

2-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Annoying!!!
I have never written an online review for a product before, but I am so annoyed by this dumb sifter that I just had to. I am not a "speed" baker of any sort, but I have four kids and do like to make birthday cakes, muffins, cookies, etc. My old sifter was so old it was getting flecks of rust into the flour, so I started looking for a new one. I chose this one after reading all the online reviews, and even though I saw that a few people found it slow, I was not prepared for how slow it really is! I just sifted 3+ cups of confectioner's sugar for cake frosting and it took over five minutes. As another reviewer said, in order to make it go faster I shook more vigorously and then had to keep changing hands because they got tired. (I have never ever been tired out from BAKING before, fer' pete's sake!!!) I'm not convinced that the people who designed this product have ever actually USED a sifter. I'm stuck with the thing now, I suppose, so I'll learn to just go slower. But it is literally about one tenth the speed of my old sifter - which was just your typical grocery store thing with a crank on one side. The one thing I really like is the caps for both ends - an innovation I'm surprised nobody else has come up with. But that doesn't redeem the product for me. In fact, if I can put my hands on another one of those old-fashioned ones (at a thrift store, maybe) I'll snap it up and put this new one in the Goodwill bin.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why do people say it's slow???
I am not as experienced a baker as most who have posted here, but I just made a perfectly lovely Angel Food cake.I sifted several cups of flour several times, with no problems at all.I like this sifter and would recommend it to others. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Invaluable
I love apple pie, but it just doesn't seem the same without a crimped edge. This crimper makes short work of any kind of pastry you'd care to throw at it - choux, shortcrust, even suet. Your pies will look like the one's grandma used to make, and taste even nicer!

Just call it "Ravioli-Making for Dummies." I certainly qualify, having admired but never attempted this tricky-looking Italian entrée. Yet within half an hour, I had made and rolled out a sheet of pasta dough (the recipe is in the kit); laid it over the metal ravioli mold; used the plastic mold to indent the dough; filled the indentations with a three-cheese mixture (recipe also in the kit); laid a second pasta sheet on top; and rolled over it with the rolling pin to seal the dough casings. I turned the metal mold over, and out plopped 10 perfect, plump ravioli, which tasted delicious after several minutes of boiling. --Leah Kohlenberg ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Can't live without it
I don't know when or where or how I got this but I discovered it in my cupboard one day and easily figured out what it was for.I made some homemade ravioli with it and it was out of this world!I'd never buy store bought ravioli again. With the pasta machine and a food processor, it goes quite quickly. The only complaint I have is that it slides on my counter which can be fixed by placing it on a clean rubber mat like is used on shelves.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice kitchen gadget
This ravioli maker is simple and easy to use. Some of the reviews on here make it sound more complicated than it actually is. The only advice I would give is to brush some beaten egg around the edges to help "glue" them in place. Honestly, I don't even know if that's necessary, since I haven't made raviolis without doing it. I suspsect that dough made with eggs would be sticky enough on its own. The cutters are sharp enough to cut the raviolis while not being so sharp that the edges don't crimp. The rest is just common sense. If you're like me and only wish to make two or three dozen at a time, this item is an excellent choice. It has no moving parts and is very easy to clean.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really Like It!

Equipped with an exceptionally powerful 280-watt motor, this versatile appliance is a combination hand mixer and hand blender. For mixing, beating, and whipping, there are two cunningly designed beaters that produce volume while reducing splashing. For kneading, there's a strong dough hook, and for blending, there's an attachment that can be used in the accompanying 2-cup container (or any container) for small jobs like salad dressings. For chopping, the power unit attaches to another container with its own blades to make quick work of nuts, onions, hard cheeses, herbs, garlic, and meats. (The container's base serves as a snap-on plastic lid for storage.) The mixer/blender has three speeds and a power-pulse button for working through tough jobs. It stands upright on a nonskid base, and its power cord pivots to stay out of the way or can be locked in place. This appliance carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great all around mixer
I purchased this mixer before Christmas and from the first time I used it I was impressed with its power and versatility.I save so much time now that I can easily switch between mixing batter and chopping nuts or chocolate.I can attest to its durability as well as I dropped the mixer on the floor the second time I used it and there was no change in its performance. While I was considering a KitchenAid stand mixer before purchasing this, I see no need to do so anymore. This mixer works great for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product
I needed a little hand mixer for whipping cream and egg whites and occasionally mixing cake batters or creaming butter to make cookies and this works perfectly for all those jobs. It's small, fits neatly back into it's box and it is not unnecessarily complicated. It has an attachment that blends shakes and a mini food processor that I used to chop vegetables. Great value, no problems.

Puny basting brushes expose skin to heat, so this 12-inch brush will be a revelation to anyone who's come away from the grill or oven with a blistered hand. It has the familiar Oxo Good Grips rubber handle that won't slip when it's wet or oily, and a hole in the handle facilitates hanging on a hook or peg. 5-0 out of 5 stars Best Thanksgiving ever, thanks to OXO
When the clan rolled in to Chez Snerdley for Thanksgiving 2003, I had no worries about serving them a prize Turkey. Why?Because I had coated that thing with my secret recipe baste. But that's not the whole story, because that baste would have never gone on as smoothly or evenly without this gem of a basting brush.Because of this Good Grips item, I was free to focus on my other priorities: green bean casserole and Jell-o salad (the latter of which gave 2 relatives food poisoning, unfortunately).

Thanks to OXO for making such a quality product!Everyone's already asking me for my baste recipe - I'll just tell them to talk to the brush!

    Reviews (5)

5-0 out of 5 stars A truly flexible whisk
As Norah Jones is singing something about love being a lost balloon, I am sitting here contemplating the sheer beauty of this whisk. Not only is this my new favorite whisk, it is truly well made. While making a custard filling for caramel éclairs (you know those magical éclairs in the Simply Irresistible movie) I found that the balloon shape and the way the wires adapt themselves to the shape of a saucepan was highly desirable.

For one thing, you don't want any clumping in a sauce or custard and things do tend to get clumpy if you can't get into the inner edge of a saucepan. With a bit of pressure, you can whisk into every inch of a saucepan. This is not always possible with a plastic whisk which is definitely not as flexible.

The handle on this whisk makes it easy to keep a grip and OXO is known for their ergonomic considerations. I think of it as an almost suede rubber that is not only comfortable to hold, it allows your hand to grip the handle more firmly.

Now the reason the 10 stainless-steel wires are so sturdy is because they are sealed into the base with a clear resin material. This also prevents food from building up and I throw this whisk in the dishwasher without fear.

If you bang the wires against your hand you can see how sturdy this whisk is and I can almost imagine that somewhere in the world someone is using this whisk as a musical instrument.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for small jobs
I use this for small jobs that I don't want to get a hand mixer our for. I love the fact that it is metal and not nylon, but I wish the very end had a bit of a pointed tip.It would make it much more useful when making gravy on a saucepan on the stove.Other than that, it is great and makes awesome pancakes and scrambled eggs.

5-0 out of 5 stars well-designed whisk for multi applications
When shopping for a whisk last year I was tempted to get a somewhat cheaper one, until my husband pointed out that this one was particularly well-made, and the ferrule joined seamlessly with the wires -- which meant no food residue trapped inside, easier cleaning and no rusting.Trust me, not all whisks have wires sealed in at the base!

Well, he was right. The contoured, easy-grip handle is a bonus. This whisk is so stury, I doubt I will ever have to buy another. It's also a good medium size, versatile for eggs and everything else I've ever needed a whisk for.Perfect! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Yes, the handles are surprisingly bendy. It is true that they don't bend as much if you hold them down by the cup instead of the end of the handle, but on the other hand, what is the point of getting "Good Grips" if you can't hold it by the grippy part?

Also, the 1 cup is just that tiny bit too wide to fit comfortably in my kitchen drawer. Those of you who don't live in apartments, or who have kitchens less than 20 years old or so probably won't have this problem, however.

I got these as a second set of measuring cups, because in some recipes you just don't want to stop in the middle to wash up.I thought I wouldn't care that it didn't have the 2/3 and 3/4 cups in it.I was wrong. If you're thinking the same, think carefully.

2-0 out of 5 stars OXO let me down w/ flimsy handles

    Editorial Review

With a simple design alteration, Oxo has revolutionized a seemingly ordinary kitchen staple, making it doubtful that you’ll ever go back to using a conventional measuring cup again.
