Melitta MEMB1B Mill & Brew 10-Cup Coffeemaker, Black by Melitta Average Customer Review: Kitchen list price: $104.99 -- our price: $55.19 (price subject to change: see help) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review Wake up and smell the coffee--not just freshly brewed coffee but freshly ground coffee for full-bodied flavor. This coffeemaker does everything but serve a steaming cup on a silver tray. For the full experience, here's how it goes: pour water into reservoir (a window gauge shows the desired level up to 10 cups); spoon roasted coffee beans into permanent stainless-steel filter basket (no disposable filters needed); program mill to grind beans as you wish (seven settings, from fine to coarse); set clock to current time of day; program timer to begin automatic grinding and brewing process at the hour and minute you wish; sleep like a baby; savor coffee precisely as you like it when you awake. Ground coffee can be used instead of whole beans, and the whole coffee-making process can be initiated instantly without setting the timer. Other attributes: dripping ceases when the tempered-glass carafe is removed from the nonstick warming plate; shutting down is automatic after one hour to prevent damage; cord stores in the rear of the unit. This is a thoroughly modern coffeemaker, suitable for people who take coffee seriously but crave convenience. --Fred Brack ... Read more Features Reviews (309)

Capresso 452.02 CoffeeTeam Plus Coffeemaker/Grinder, White by Capresso Average Customer Review: Kitchen list price: $199.99 US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review If you love fresh-ground coffee but hate getting up in the morning to make it, Capresso's 10-cup coffee maker will put a smile on your morning. It does it all: filters the water, grinds the beans, and makes the coffee. (Unfortunately, it doesn't also make toast, but you'll enjoy your first cup of perfectly brewed coffee while you're making it.) This model's sleek design features shiny white plastic with rounded edges. It's taller than most coffee makers but, at 19 inches, still fits under the counter. The machine is filled at night using regular tap water and beans, and then programmed using the LCD display panel. Its cold-water filtration system uses a charcoal filter to remove most of the chlorine in the water. (Additional filters and replacement parts are available from Capresso.) The burr coffee grinder grinds the beans to one of four different settings, depending on the type of bean used, and the ground coffee fills up the included reusable gold-tone coffee filter. Of course, the coffee grinder and coffee maker can be used without the programmable feature, but the big draw here is the smell of just-ground java wafting into the bedroom before the alarm goes off. The one-year warranty includes Capresso Plus Service, with help available at a toll-free number or by fax or e-mail. If the machine needs repair or replacement while under warranty, the company pays for UPS pickup and shipping both ways. Complete operating instructions are included with many illustrations, troubleshooting tips, and hints on preparing that elusive pot of perfect brew. --Marcie Bovetz Editor's Choice: Capresso's CoffeeTeam Plus coffeemaker/grinder is our choice for the best coffeemaker over $100. It is the ideal machine for java lovers who want to both grind and brew their own cup. Its built-in burr grinder has four grind settings, and coolly deposits the grinds into an included gold filter. After the grinding is finished, the filter holder rotates over so that brewing can begin (with three brewing settings to choose from). All this gives you a lot of control over the flavor, and the included charcoal water filter and three different coffee-strength settings also help. Read more in our comparison of coffeemakers. ... I STRONGLY SUGGEST you view the video that's included in the box.I read the manual, and it seemed really complex.I then sat down and watched the included instructional video with my wife (she would have thrown the manual in the garbage it was so 'technical'), and after watching the 10-15 minute video everything looked remarkably simple. We both understood it and the video showed how easy this fine coffeemaker really is to use. It took some experimentation with the 'grind' and 'strength' settings with the first few pots until I got the brew just right.Trying out the different grinds (fine to course), strength (It goes from weak to medium to very strong) took a few tries, but after the fifth pot I figured out what I liked best. While I was 'experimenting' on each pot I brewed the taste went all the way from 'weak' to 'very strong' (like Starbucks). The flavor was wonderful in all cases. This pot is quick and easy to clean up.It takes less than a minute (30 seconds?) to rinse the pot and gold filter. The timer works great. The grind is perfectly even, and I find I am using LESS cofee then I did with my old Braun Coffeemaker which finally bit the dust after 10 years.I was using a Braun blade grinder and the Capresso grinder makes the blade grinder look like a Hugo compared to the Capresso's Lexus/Mercedes performance. I use premium beans (Good Hawaian, Columbian, Costa Rican, etc.) and I have to say no drip maker I have ever used brings out the flavor like this one does. It cost a bit, but with the burr grinder, the excellent hot brewing temperature, the timer, grind adjustments, strength adjustments, and easy cleanup I feel this is the best coffee maker I have ever owned. I love this thing!

Capresso 471.01 CoffeeTEC Digital 10-cup Coffeemaker with Stainless-Steel Vacuum Carafe and FrothXpress, Black by Capresso Average Customer Review: Kitchen list price: $199.99 -- our price: $199.00 (price subject to change: see help) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review Loaded with convenient features, this coffeemaker not onlybrews ten 5-ounce cups of coffee directly into a stainless-steel vacuumcarafe, it also delivers up to 32 ounces of hot milk and froth forcappuccinos, café lattés, and hot chocolates. The carafeis virtually unbreakable and keeps coffee hot for four hours without awarming plate that can turn coffee bitter. Other features include adigital clock/timer for programming the brewing cycle up to 24 hours inadvance (automatic wake-up coffee!); a drip-stop to pause the brewingcycle for 20 seconds if the carafe is removed for a midbrew pour; twobrewing cycles (3 to 5 cups or 6 to 10 cups) for maximum coffee flavor;a permanent gold tone filter that eliminates messy paper filters; and apush-button, swing-out filter holder. The milk-frothing system dispenses hot milk and froth directly into acup and uses a separate heating system from the coffeemaker and a milkcontainer separate from the water container for brewing coffee. (Aflexible hose can be used to siphon milk directly from a carton of milkinstead of the milk container.) The machine automatically switches to astand-by mode for steaming when the brewing cycle is complete. However, milk can be frothed for, say, hot chocolate without brewing coffee. Aknob adjusts milk flow, milk temperature, and the amount of froth, permitting precise control for individual taste. An instruction videocomes with the machine, which measures 14 inches high, 11 inches wide, and 12 inches deep and carries a one-year warranty against defects.--Fred Brack ... Cuisinart DGB-300 Automatic Grind and Brew 10-Cup Coffeemaker, White by Cuisinart Average Customer Review: Kitchen list price: $150.00 -- our price: $69.95 (price subject to change: see help) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review For coffee that's as fresh as the neighborhood coffee shop, but served at home, try Cuisinart's Automatic Grind and Brew coffeemaker. It makes it easy to enjoy fresh coffee with the utmost convenience--ground whole-bean coffee pours directly into the filter basket at a pre-set time for instant brewing. The maker does all the thinking, with a range of programmable features: set the machine to grind and brew at exactly the right time, predetermine the coffee's temperature, and program the machine to turn off a half-hour later. Other features take the guess work out of coffeemaking as well: the flavor setting ensures the optimal amount of water is used for a rich, aromatic taste and no acidity or bitterness, and the large easy-view water window makes sure the right amount of water is added. The gold-tone permanent filter also enhances coffee flavor for a hardy, rich taste. A self-clean feature lets you know when calcium buildup is interfering with the machine's operation; turn on the self-clean cycle to make quick work of grime. Daily cleaning of the machine is somewhat involved since all individual parts must be removed, so prepare for slightly longer clean up in exchange for time-saving upfront. Two additional caveats: The grinder is noisy, as most grinders are, and cannot be turned off midgrind. And the coffee bar is taller than average coffee machines, so make sure you have a spot for it with plenty of below cupboard space. --Emily Wolf ... Read more Features Reviews (182)

Capresso 427.01 Elegance 10-Cup Coffeemaker, Black by Capresso Average Customer Review: Kitchen list price: $120.00 US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review This 10-cup (50-ounce) coffeemaker will help you get going in the morning--its digital clock with programmable timer means a hot cup o' joe will be waiting when you get out of bed. The auto shutoff keeps coffee hot for two hours, then turns the machine off in case you forget. The coffeemaker can be used with or without the water filtration system, which removes chlorine taste and improves water quality. Both the water container and filter insert are removable, and the machine will work just fine underneath low-hanging, 16-inch cabinets. If you just can't wait for that first cup, its drip-stop function lets you pour from the carafe during brewing. This machine comes with a little measuring scoop, a GoldTone filter, and a one-year limited warranty. --Doree Armstrong ... Read more Features Reviews (7)My wife did some research online and I then looked at this maker as a possible choice. The negative reviews really put me off. However, it has all of the features I wanted and none of the gimmicks that a real coffee drinker needs. Let me address some of the misleading information in these reviews: (1) the filtration system is not "messy".It is easily removed if you already use filtered water and will dramatically improve the flavor of coffee made with tap water. (2) you do not need to "eye mark" the water levels.the interior of the water reservior is clearly marked with water level indicators. (3) I do not find this coffee "weak".In fact, the conical gold-tone filter will enhance the flavor as the water is exposed to more grounds than the flat filters.Furthermore, the filter will not absorb the coffee oils (unlike paper) which are an essential part of the flavor. (4) "Small serving control":put less water in, put less coffee in, and turn it on.If you can't figure that out, you shouldn't be drinking coffee but kool-aid.However, if small serving control refers to pulling out the carafe prior to the completion of brewing, then this capresso does not have that feature. Please note that a coffee aficionado would NEVER use that feature anyway. It results in brackish, bitter coffee from the oversteeping of the grounds. In summation, if you appreciate fine coffee, Capresso is the Cadillac of coffee makers.Capresso makes better models than this; however, for the price you cannot do better.
I really only have 2 caveats.First, there's no external marker to show how much water you've poured in.You'll quickly get the hang of "eye-marking" water levels in the basin and I appreciate the efforts to keep the exterior clean, but it will be a nuissance the first few times you use it.Second, I would ditch using the water filter because you have to replace it every 6 weeks. If you're using filtered water to begin with (I highly recommend the Pur faucet mounts), the charcoal filter is a non-issue.

Melitta MECF10D 10-Cup Digital Coffeemaker by Melitta Average Customer Review: Kitchen list price: $94.99 US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review Wake up and smell the coffee. With the digital clock/timer on this 10-cup coffeemaker, that fantasy comes true: just set the clock and program the hour and minute you want the brewing cycle to begin. Provided you've swung out the filter basket, spooned coffee into the removable liner, and poured in water to the level you desire, you can sleep like a baby (or a log) and freshly brewed coffee will greet you in the morning. (You can also brew at a touch without setting timer or clock.) The timing function is this coffeemaker's principal attribute, but there are others: dripping ceases when the tempered-glass carafe is removed from the nonstick warming plate; shutting down is automatic after two hours to prevent damage; pressing a button when brewing fewer than 5 cups slows the flow of water so maximum flavor can be extracted from grounds; a charcoal filter reduces chlorine and other off-tasting elements in water; thanks to a big handle, moving this coffeemaker is easy. --Fred Brack ... Braun KF187B FlavorSelect 12-Cup Coffeemaker, Black by Braun Average Customer Review: Kitchen list price: $89.99 US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review Though only slightly bigger than a quality 4-cup coffeemaker, Braun's top-of-the-line FlavorSelect is full of high-tech wizardry and able to turn ground beans into a superior pot of drip coffee. Its most desirable feature for many will be the water filter (it needs replacing after about two months of regular use). The water filter removes chlorine, bad taste, and odors from water before brewing. It also reduces calcification so the machine rarely, if ever, needs to be decalcified. But, for others, the digital clock and timer feature will be a big draw. The brewing cycle covers both small and large quantities and mild or strong coffee. There's even a feature that adjusts the temperature of the hot plate, and another that turns the machine off from zero to four hours after the coffee is brewed. This model comes with a stainless-steel filter screen, which will last years and eliminates the need for paper filters completely. All of these features come in a sleek, simple design that won't take over the kitchen. It does take about 15 minutes to get through the directions, but once you've got them down, this machine might change your mornings. --Maria Dolan Editor's Choice: Braun's FlavorSelect coffeemaker is our choice for the best coffeemaker under $100, and our choice for best drip coffeemaker without a grinder, regardless of price. It has too many quality functions not to be, starting with the flavor selector, which lets you adjust the coffee to personal preference--no more trying to adjust flavor by putting in different amounts of coffee. It's also very convenient, with both automatic brewing capabilities and automatic hotplate shutoff (meaning that you can tell it to either turn on or turn off when you're not around), and a hotplate temperature control that ranges from 167 degrees to 187 degrees. ... The basket is apt to swing out during brewing (what a mess!); too often the paper filter does not stay open (due, I suspect, to how the water is dispensed in the brewing cycle), resulting in a weak brew; the charcoal-filter baskets, effective as they are, are too pricey; the cabinet and reservoir are difficult to clean; and the unit's dated-looking forms, designed for better brewing, do not live up to promise. Plus, the unit always leaks when it is moved. It is sad that the quality of this once-great brand and its products, since bought by Gillette, has deteriorated so quickly and surely. Basic models of Krups coffeemakers reliably and consistently brew better-tasting coffee. ... Read more Asin: B00004S9GZ |

Krups 183-42 ProCafe 4-Cup Coffeemaker, Black by Krups Average Customer Review: Kitchen list price: $40.00 US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review Despite its small size, this Krups coffeemaker brews full-flavored coffee. If your java consumption is rather tame, or you don't have much space on your counter, this is the coffeemaker for you. The filtering action of the exclusive Krups deep-brew technology maximizes the coffee's richness. A special heating and tubing system minimizes calcification, and the Aroma Savor System lid locks in flavor and aroma. A magnified water level indicator eases water measuring when you're still half-asleep, and the automatic warming plate keeps your coffee warm if you happen to nod off. For those of you who must rush out in the morning, the Stop 'n' Serve feature allows you to pour your first flavorful cup without waiting for the entire pot to brew. --Marcela Broussard ... The coned filter allows me to use less grinds per cup to get the same strength coffee I would get out of my old flat filtered 12-cup machine; and I don't have to pour out a 1/4 pot of burned coffee. This machine will pay for itself in a few months. The pot only drips if you pour way too fast.I personally have no problems with it whatsoever; I have no idea what other reviewers are complaining about.
