I bought this board in July, have barely used it (like < 10 times) and it's already falling apart 3 months later! It's splitting at the seams in 3 different places.Buy a plastic or solid wood board and save your money!Very disappointed.

Editorial Review

Fine craftsmanship and premium materials make Calphalon cutlery as outstanding as Calphalon pots and pans. This beautifully balanced, full-tang 8-inch chef’s knife is constructed of a single forged piece of high carbon, no-stain, rust-resistant steel. The hand-ground blade holds a perfect edge that sharpens more readily than regular stainless steel. Contoured for comfort, the seamless handle will not absorb moisture, crack, or chip. Each Contemporary knife is etched on the end with its name and/or size, allowing quick identification when stored in a block. With its medium-size blade, this chef’s knife chops onion, slices potatoes, and even mashes garlic with finesse. All Calphalon knives come with a lifetime warranty. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than I expected!
After I bought my Calphalon cookware I knew I would continue to buy their products because they are very good quality, especially for the price.I know their cookware & kitchen utensils are good, but I wasn't sure about their cutlery (some companies make quality cookware but poor quality knives). So I decided to take a chance & get the 8" Chef's knife and I am so glad I did!I think this knife is beautiful & the perfect weight.I really like the handle & it feels nice and balanced in my hand.It didn't come out of the box quite as sharp as I'd like it to be, but it's definitely sharp enough.I can't wait to get more knives & the maple block! This knife is great for everyday use!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Well balanced knife, good handle
I was surprised at how well this knife performed.I have had no problems with it at all.It slices through things with ease. The handle is also great. The rubber on the handle prevents it from slipping, and makes the knife more comfortable.I have not tried any of the higher end knives like Wusthof or henckels so I am not sure how this performs compared to them.

5-0 out of 5 stars The knife that lost its edge.
The title is a play on words. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the knife and it is every bit is good as other reviewers say it is. I've been using mine now for over a year, several times a day, every day.

It is a rugged, hefty knife made out of quality steel. It is substantial enough for use in either the kitchen or the battlefield.

The only hint that Calphalon cut the cost (but not the quality) is that the knives I bought had a little sticker that said, "Made in China", a sticker easily flicked off with a thumbnail. But this time the Chinese got it right: no apology needed for the quality.

So, "What's the beef?"

Without any cutting remarks (opps, I did it again), it is a question of eroding value. At the time I first bought the knife the price was less than two-thirds of what Amazon is currently charging. Some time later, Amazon had a Friday Sale and I bought three more at one-third the current price as potential gifts.

Now, I will be the first to admit I have never understood Amazon's pricing system, but I will tell you this: if Amazon ever reduces the price of this knife to anything like its former levels....buy it. ... Read more

Norpro Stainless-Steel Expandable Vegetable Steamer
by Norpro
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Kitchen
list price: $7.99 -- our price: $7.99

Editorial Review

It's less what it includes than what it lacks that makes this Norpro vegetable steamer a cut above your average steamer insert. Without a bothersome center post, there is plenty of unobstructed room to steam entire heads of broccoli or cauliflower or full-length cobs of corn--and finished vegetables are easier to remove with a spoon or a spatula as denser veggies keep steaming. No need to slice carrots or pole beans beforehand--just plop them whole into the basket, which expands from 7 to 10&nbsp;inches, depending on the size of the pot you set it&nbsp;in.

The three-pronged base provides stability equal to models with center posts, but instead of one central handle there are two ring-style side handles. This is another improvement, as you don't need to reach into the middle of the steaming-hot food to remove the basket, and using the side handles supports the basket's shape rather than allowing its "petals" to pop open flat upon lifting. The heavy-duty waffled segments hold tightly together during use and fold inward for compact storage. --Carol Gnojewski ... Read more

  • Diameter of large-capacity vegetable steamer expands from 7 inches to 10 inches

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Kitchen Tool
This is a fantastic tool for your kitchen. I purchased one on the advice from a chef friend, and it has been great for steaming vegetables. In particular I loved the sweet potatoes that I've made using this steamer.Extremely easy to use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple to use with great results.
I love this little gizzmo and I have had mine for years.I have tried other steamers but this one is simple to use and it adjust to any size pan (with in reason that is).All my friends now have one especially after they figured out what it was for.By the way it is real easy to clean and it stores away easily. And if your trying to save money, it costs very little.Get one.You will love it.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Little Too Big -- But Great Quality
This steamer insert is too large to use in smaller pots, so be sure to measure and make sure your pot is at least 7" wide on the inside. The feet won't scratch your pot, and removing the cooked vegetables is much easier without the center post common to cheaper steamers. With this one, I can just use a large spoon to scoop out the items, or if I want I can hoist the entire steamer out of the pan by grabbing the rings on the sides, but that's pretty tricky when it's fully of steaming veggies. ... Editorial Review

The Simply Calphalon Nonstick Anodized line of cookware is an excellent alternative for those who prefer cooking on a nonstick surface and who desire Calphalon quality at a budget price. This 8-piece cookware set offers almost everything a cook needs to kick off a lifetime of meals. The set includes 8-inch and 10-inch omelet pans, 1-quart and 2-quart covered saucepans, and a 6-quart covered stockpot.

Made of durable hard-anodized aluminum of uniform thickness, these pans are excellent conductors of heat and cook food quickly and evenly. Their double-coated nonstick interiors prevent food from sticking and make cleanup easier. The pans have oval stainless-steel handles with a blasted satin finish that are comfortable to grip and are held in place by sturdy stainless-steel rivets. Also made of brushed stainless steel, the lids are domed to keep moisture in during cooking. This cookware is oven-safe up to 375 degrees F so you don’t have to dirty several pans to make one dish. All cookware in this line should be hand washed and is covered by a 10-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

2-0 out of 5 stars Not so happy
At the first glance the set may seem to be of good quality, made of heavy anodized aluminium. However, nonstick coating wears off very fast and pots are made in non-standard sizes(diameters).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Cookware Set!!
My husband and I bought this cookware set when we first got married & I absolutely love it!It has a nice weight to it & the base & walls are thick, also the lids fit perfectly. It heats evenly & I never have had any problems with food sticking to them.Just make sure you don't use metal utensils with these or they may scratch the coating, and the only thing I don't like about these is that the oustide can get stained if you let a pan boil over or put it on a burner that is not clean (my husband used to put tortillas & bologna on our coil burner & now I have a stain on the bottom of my frying pan) but I'm sure a little barkeeper's will take it out.All in all they're great & I highly recommend them

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful set
These are some of the best pans you could own. First, there is no higher quality, heavy duty pan out there. Second, they is surprisingly cheap for such high quality. Third, I have never tackled a project with these pans that has not come out a success. It is truly professional grade for the home. Even if you are not a professional chef or a food enthusiast, these pans make building a great dish easy. You don't have to worry about those non-stick coatings that peel off but you also don't have to worry about your food sticking to the surface. Ignore the fact that it is more expensive than K-Mart Brand Pan--It is worth the extra cost! Food always cooks evenly and always seems to do so effortlessly. It is the perfect size for a family of four or five and can be used for just about any situation when you don't have the proper pan (although you should really go and check out all of Calphalon's other pans too). ... Editorial Review

Omelets, whether firm country-style or tender French, must be cooked quickly and folded in the pan. A classic omelet pan, therefore, is thick-bottomed for rapid, even heating and shallow with steeply sloped sides so omelets can be rolled easily against them. This pan qualifies on all counts, and it's ideal for saut&eacute;ing and searing, also. Use only plastic, nylon, and wooden utensils on its nonstick cooking surface. The pan is anodized for hardness. For that no-nonsense, commercial-kitchen look, Calphalon's Professional Nonstick II cookware wears a matte finish. Rolled stainless-steel handles are double-riveted for durability and balance, and stay cool on stovetops. Holes in the handles facilitate hanging on a hook or peg. 5-0 out of 5 stars A real workhorse. Buy Two!
I'm not kidding when I suggest you should own two of these little beauties. I am constantly running into recipes which use two saute pans at the same time and these are perfect for every case I've found.

Every expert I've heard on the subject suggests buying inexpensive non-stick cookware, as even the best will have its Teflon coating wear off over time. Mario Batali says they replace their nonstick cookware at Babbo once every few months. Now you are probably not working them as hard as the crew at Babbo, but you get the point.

The trick is to find one which is inexpensive, but not so cheap as to be annoying. For starters, this model is totally oven-safe, which is essential for frittatas. It also has a very nice curve to its lip for omelets, crepes, and other flippable applications.

The handle is stainless steel which marvelously stays cool even when the pan is over moderately high heat.

The only thing which concerns me about this model is the fact that the handle is a little thin, so it is easy for the pan to turn and spill if the contents are a bit unbalanced. But, for this price, you simply cannot go wrong.

Very highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
The best pan i have ever owned and it is the only one i now use.I am ordering 2 more to replace some older pans i have.It IS the best!

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor nonstick coating
We received several pieces of Professional Nonstick II cookware for our wedding and the nonstick coating is horrible. After just a few months the surface became pitted and food sticks very strongly. Furthermore, the rivets that hold the handle in place are exposed metal and food sticks there every time (and quite vigorously). Since you cannot scrub the nonstick surface, you are left to either watch as more and more food sticks to the pan or just throw the pan away after only a few months of use. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT GRATER!
I use this grater at least once a day. I love to add a little bit of flavor to my dinner, so a sprinkling of any type of cheese with this grater is a breeze. One thing that I like the best is the cleaning: just swipe with a sponge ALONG the teeth, and it's clean! The interchangeable heads are a great addition for grating nutmeg and hard cheeses to the desired amount.

5-0 out of 5 stars Never knew I needed a grater so often!
I got my interchangeable grater a week ago, and since then I have used it nearly every day -- sometimes twice a day. And I am not generally known for my culinary expertise!

The Microplane grater does its job so well -- perfect lemon zest, perfect parmesan cheese -- and I keep it handy to do those grating jobs I would normally to with a knife (such as minced garlic).

Excellent tool! A must-have for every kitchen!

2-0 out of 5 stars Even the trim doesn't fix it
I am quite unhappy with this product as even after months of tweaking the rudder and trim I still can't get this Microplane interchangable grater system to operate and 100% efficientcy. I have sent it back for an exchange and got a fish slicer thrown in for free. now THAT'S a good deal ... Read more

Properly cutting cheese requires specialized tools, as any partygoer confronted by a wheel of Stilton and a butter knife knows. This set cuts all cheeses with precision and without mess. The set's pointed knife will break up that Stilton into consumable pieces and accomplish the same with aged cheddars, Parmesans, and pecorinos--any hard, firm, or crumbly cheese. A narrow-bladed knife cleanly slices pieces from blocks of semisoft and semifirm cheeses such as Brie, Camembert, jack, and Jarlsberg. A wide-bladed knife works the same for soft, crumbly cheeses. The three knives run from 5-inches overall to 5-1/4-inches. With their light-finish handles and polished blades they kick a party's get-it quotient up more than a notch. --Fred Brack ... Read more

Washing and drying leafy vegetables has never been simpler or more fun than with this gadget. One hand is all you need to press the soft, cushioned knob to start the spinning; when the built-in brake is applied and the job is done, the basket and bowl can be taken apart and used separately. The knob locks down for easy storage, and the spinner is dishwasher-safe. Use this tool with lettuce, raw spinach, broad-leafed herbs, and greens--they end up clean and oh-so-dry, and the drier your leaves, the better salad dressings will adhere and the less mushy your sandwich bread will become. 2-0 out of 5 stars Worked great until it broke
This was a wonderful salad spinner for the several months it worked. Then it broke. In my kitchen, very few things break. The occasional wooden spatula after fifteen years of use is fine but things tend not to break unless I drop them. This is my second Oxo product that broke while I was using it (the other one was a knife--yes, a knife snapped in two while I was cutting).I still love my Oxo peeler but with two out of three of my Oxo products breaking, I'm done with Oxo for the most part.

1-0 out of 5 stars worked well until it exploded
I bought this item and used it for about 2 months, then It exploded while I was spinning a salad and was impossible to repair. I went on to buy a Tupperware salad spinner (green) and have been using it for four years with no problems at all.

4-0 out of 5 stars Agree it's great ... but it has 1 huge problem
This has got to be the best salad spinner ever, on that point I agree with all the other rave reviews. But just try picking this unit up off a shelf when you have wet hands--or even dry hands!!!!!!! It's difficult!!!! Just wish they would put a small, very small, handle, ridge or inset on the bowl!!! Please!!! ... Read more

If you love your OXO salad spinner, here’s a way to make it even more useful. This four-piece accessory kit includes a covered berry basket, which fits snugly inside both OXO’s large and small salad spinners and dries berries and herbs delicately without bruising or damaging them. The set also features a nylon lettuce knife for cutting greens without causing them to brown as a stainless-steel knife can. Finally, a lid to the salad spinner itself lets you store greens right in the spinner after drying and extends their storage life. 3-0 out of 5 stars Lid only for large salad spinner
I bought this as a gift to go along with the small salad spinner that I had purchased.Everything sounded great, such as the berry basket fitting both the small and large salad spinners.

It does have a lid for the whole salad spinner for storage but the lid only fits the large salad spinner. It would have been much nicer to have included 2 lids for the salad spinner, one for the larger spinner and one for the smaller spinner. Then the kit would have been fully compatible with both spinners.

Overall everything looks fine and as though its made well but since I bought this as a gift I haven't used it.But my recipient will have an extra lid handy for miscellaneous things. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Accessories to Have
I love my salad spinner and when I saw this set, I thought that it was a useless ploy to get more money. However, when I decided to buy it, I was rather surprised. The set itself is of the same quality as all of my other OXO products. The set fits both the mini salad spinner and the large salad spinner, so you don't have to worry about getting the right set.

I like the idea of the storage lids, but I don't use them often.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must if you have the large salad spinner!
This set is the ultimate addition to, in my opinion, the best greens dryer system on the market. The smaller bowl does work very well inside the large spinner, and I have also found, for those of you that also own the smaller OXO spinner, that the bowl fits like a glove, thus avoiding the additional bouncing around that does occur in the larger.A must when washing and drying delicate berries.

The plastic knife is a must when cutting greens, as to avoid those nasty "rust" spots that do crop up when slicing with a metal blade, thus extending the life of your salad for a day or so.

Add the lids, and you have the perfect short-term storage system.

Bravo, OXO!! ... Read more

This smaller version of George Foreman's famous "as seen on TV" Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine is perfect for preparing quick, low-fat meals for one or two people. The double-sided grill surface heats in less than five minutes to an even temperature perfect for grilling most foods. The high grill grooves and slight angle allow fat to run off the grill as food cooks, and the nonstick surface requires little or no additional fat for cooking. The plastic, grooved spatula works well to scrape off any bits that may have stuck to the surface.

Meats and fish are the obvious choices to take advantage of the Grilling Machine's fat-reduced grilling, but vegetables and tofu dogs work well too. The double-sided grill means food cooks twice as fast, leaves attractive grill marks, and generates surprisingly little smoke. --Julija Gelazis ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this - buy a convection oven
I agree completely with Mr. Charles Tsen.Every thing he has written about this grill is right.I had the misfortune of buying this after reading all the hype about this useless appliance.I bougth it more than a year ago and promised myself that i would never use it again. It is ridiculosuly difficult to clean and you simply will never get the desired results. For all those people looking to get a great fat reducing machine, I would recommend that they should consider "Nesco American Harvest JS-4000TE Jet Stream Oven" from Amazon or any other site.I have been using this convection oven for the past 6-7 years and am extremely satisfied. One tip in prolonging the life of this convection oven is to use a fresh paper towel on the tray to absorb all the fat before using it.

5-0 out of 5 stars This grill is a Champ
Quick heat up means a quick meal. As a busy single,I find that I can put a potato in the microwave, plug in the grill, preheat, put the meat on the grill and be ready by the time the potato is cooked and a vegetable is put together.Clean up is simple thanks to the nonstick coating. I cook everything, including eggplant on this grill. It is a definite necessity in my kitchen.

5-0 out of 5 stars George Foreman where have you been all my life??
This is such an awesome little piece of kit and have recommended it to so many people! My five star review i guess also takes into condideration the price we paid. We go this when it was reduced to $14.99 and I doubt that, pound for pound, you could get a better kitchen gadget for that price.

As I had previously seen this on tv infomercials I was a little sceptical as I always am of these "gadgets", but this really has changed our kitchen lives. It heats up so fast and cooks very quickly and evenly (due to it cooking both sides at once). We really love the speed - its great to know that in four/five minutes you can have a perfect tuna-stek or porkchop without having to fire up the oven. It also frees up the oven to cook other things for your meal.

Its just big enough to cook two chicken breasts or two burgers, a porkchop or steak. But it can also be used for sausage links, bacon, vegetables and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Some people have mentioned they have real problems cleaning it up. Whilst yes it could be better but you literally just scrape off any excess and wipe it down. If you dont want to have to do that then you need to buy the one with removable plates but it would have cost us three times as much.

Be warned thought that the fat-collecting drip tray shouldnt be put in the dishwasher - we did and it melted part of it. ... Read more

Compact enough to easily fit on a countertop (or table!), the appliance produces loaves that are 3-1/2 inches by 5-1/2 inches and 4-1/2 inches tall, just the right size for intimate dinner parties. The oval bread pan gives the loaves a distinctive shape and a little dimple. Operation is as easy as putting the dough into the breadmaker and pressing two buttons, and several recipes are included, such as sunflower oat wheat, Swiss-jalape&ntilde;o, and feta cheese--and nutritional information for each recipe is also included. The directions are extensive, complete with a troubleshooting guide. The breadmaker's viewing window is especially nice, and lets you watch your bread take shape. This breadmaker comes with a 90-day warranty. --Ariel Meadow Stallings ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC MACHINE
I have used bread machines for 15 years. My favorite thing about them:The ease of making fresh bread (my favorite food) and how it tasted freshly made; and the smell when it is baking. My least favorite things: the often large and oddly shaped loaves, and how it tasted a couple of days later.

Until I bought this machine, my favorite machine bread was "the 58 minute loaf" that my present machine makes.I love the quickness and the lovely somewhat yeasty taste.

So as you can imagine, the Just For Dinner Breadmaker is a combination of all of my favorite bread machine aspects. It is fun, it is quick, it is delicious, it is eaten in two days, then I get to try a new recipe.

I ordered my machine on Saturday, May 14th and opted for the free (slower) shipping. My machine arrived at 7PM on May 19th.At 8PM I had my first loaf, perfectly shaped and browned, wheat bread cooling on the rack.My husband and I ate almost the entire loaf, it was so good. The next morning I made the buttermilk wheat loaf.It was JUST as perfect.

I highly recommend this excellent machine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Go ahead, experiment!
I have been using my little guy at least a couple of times a week for months and have NEVER made a bad loaf of bread. That said, I stopped using the recipe book after the first two loaves.I use the generic formula of flour, liquid, fat, sweet, salt and yeast as a springboard for the imagination.I have used many varieties and combinations of whole grain flours whithout cutting them with white flour. I have added cooked whole grains and raw or cooked seeds, nuts, and fruit.I don't bother with milk powder; instead I use milk, sour milk, buttermilk, soy milk, or the whey from yogurt as the liquid. For the fat I have used a variety of vegetable oils, melted butter, and melted shortening.I have succesfully used a teaspoon of sugar instead of a tablespoon. I have substituted brown sugar, honey, molassas, even a fruit reduction for the sweetener.

I add all of the wet/moist ingredients together in a bowl, microwave to reach the recommended temperature, then transfer to bread machine insert. Then I combine all of the dry ingredients and microwave for a few seconds to take take the chill off as I store my grainy things in the freezer.Dry on top of wet, jiggle it down level, and into the machine.Use that opportunity at the initiation of the continuous mixing cycle to check on how the ingredients are coming together and adjust the wet/dry ratio accordingly.

One reviewer complained that you can't make rolls or buns; not so!Preheat your oven when you start the machine. (I get it to ~400 degrees F.)When it beeps that it is ready to begin the bake cycle, turn the bread machine off, dump the dough out onto a floured or oiled surface, make whatever shape you want and pop it into the oven. (I use a baking stone.)I have made dinner rolls, sandwich rolls, flat bread, bread sticks, even crackers!I am going to experiment with bagels next.

Use your common sense. If you have ingredients with inherent moistness, fat, sweetness or saltiness, cut your liquid, fat, sweetener or salt. The more you play, the better you will get at making bread products customized exactly to your personal tastes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Perfect
I wanted a small-scale machine that would make a modest size bread of good quality. This machine totally fits the bill.Foolproof (I never used a bread machine before at all), quick, quiet.I have nothing I would want to be different about this item.I'd highly recommend it for singles and couples who want to make high-quality bread at home. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Maybe I don't know my own strength...
But, I bought one of these 3 or 4 years ago.The 1st month of using it, the plastic cracked, essentially making the next stop to throw it in the garbage.I'm still looking for a sturdier one.If you buy this, you must ALWAYS be aware that you can't put your muscles above your elbow into it.

I'd rather find something sturdier.

5-0 out of 5 stars Surprised ?
The Benriner really performs well-I was very skeptical when I bought it-my son even referred to it as a "fake mandoline"The more traditional mandolines are much pricier (about $100. MORE).I decided to try a Benrinerabout 4 years ago and have been very glad I did and saved the extra $.I find I don't use the Cuisinart as much since there is less clean-up-just rinse the Benriner under running water and let air-dryIf you like really thin slices of vegetables, especially cabbage for cole slaw, you won't be disappointed.(I even saw Martha Stewart using one on her TV show recently. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Great idea, but I can't stand mine
I have 2 of these, and it really is a wonderful idea to have all your spices in one spot on a carousel with 3 different ways to dispense them.<br /> <br /> But I do find it a pain to keep clean, especially the top part of the carousel where you see the handle in the picture, and in and around the dials. It constantly looks dirty.<br /> <br /> Plus some of the lids snap tighter than others, and a few of the lids have snapped right off completely. I'm not thoroughly convinced it's keeping my spices as fresh as could be- considering I need to hack away at the onion and garlic powders with a butter knife when I need to use them because they have turned into a solid block inside the container.<br /> <br /> Needless to say, I am currently looking for another spice rack.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just ONE more....
Has been my motto since I got the first unit... I am up to three, and already lusting for number four!I have the perfect place for two stacks of two right by my stove, and I have seldom needed a measuring spoon since unit #1...

This is a great concept, and the product appears to be well made - no problems to date. The included labels are nice, and it's a simple matter to print others and attach under clear packaging tape..They suggest using a permanent marker, but I found that, in a kitchen environment, "permanent" is not so permanent...

5-0 out of 5 stars GET RID OF THE INDIVIDUAL SPICE BOTTLES
This is amazing. When I got this I was so impressed.Shaker, Measurer (bye bye tblspoons). All of my spice bottles, individuals, gone.I can buy bigger bottles at cheaper prices and just keep these filled. OXO Good Grips Salt and Pepper Set
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Kitchen
list price: $19.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

Oxo's pepper mill and salt shaker set combines strength and variety. The pepper mill has two grinding grades, fine or coarse, and the soft rubber knob on the extended turning arm makes the rotation comfortable no matter how much pepper you like on your Caesar salad. The plastic peppercorn chamber is clear, so you can see when you're running low, and it's easily refilled. The salt shaker performs various tasks with the simple turn of a soft knob: sprinkle, shake, and pour by switching the openings. The salt shaker has a removable plug on the bottom for easy refilling. --Laurie Notaro ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Can't go wrong with the salt, pepper not so hot...
The pepper grinder stopped grinding a few months into it.The salt shaker is great with it's adjustable dosing, but how technical is that?I never complained about the pepper mill as it was part of a set, but had I paid $20, there would be some fussing!I Love OXO products, but I would save your money on this particular set.

5-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT pepper grinder
I looked around at a lot of grinders in stores and we have 3 that don't grind well at all settings. What sets OXO apart is the grinding mechanism is wide and deep so that the peppercorns fit completely within the grinding area and so get ground! Many, many others have shallow sets of teeth so the peppercorns have to be caught by their rough edges (not all peppercorns are rough)and hopefully get ground.Too often they pop out of these shallow tooth grinders. These shallow ones must rely on the mass of peppercorns to keep others on the grinding teeth.

Not OXO!The deep grinding jaws do the trick - peppercorns can't escape, even the smooth ones.2 months of flawless grinding so far.Oooooh, fresh pepper smells so good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome....
I am addicted to pepper, I love it on everything. Recently I bought a pepper ball and it was okay. Well, that was until I went to my Grandmas and used her OXO grinder. This thing is amazing! I love my pepper ground very fine and this does it with ease. With one turn I have the same amount that the pepepr ball would give me in 20... This is better than expensive grinders and at a fraction of the price. Also, Amazon has this set for the cheapest anywhere else. I looked around and you will not be able to find it any cheaper, but even if it was triple the price, it is still worth more. ... Read more
