1-0 out of 5 stars Great if you like warm food...
If you are looking for a compact refrigerator to keep food cold then don't buy this one. Temp only gets down to 48... not cold enough.

1-0 out of 5 stars wrong ptcture
The picture is of the 3.2 cubic foot model

1-0 out of 5 stars two came and went
We ordered this for a spare fridge and it would be a great size, but the first on came and it was damaged. It looked like it had been dropped. Then I called Target. They did great taking care of getting us another on. Only the second came today and it was also dropped from a truck. The back was dented and it was already rusting. so I think we will try some where else for this item.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great Idea, yet poorly carried out!
I gave this two stars only because I think it's a great style of lamp, and great idea, however it is really a poorly made lamp. The metal is weak and the threads stripped easily, and the base falls off all the time...I've had mine for less then two years, and only after about 3 months of having it it becamea dust collector in the closet! It wont stand up anymore at all and I keep wondering if it's fixable, but am ready to toss it because it's not worth it! So my advice...is dont spend the money on this style of lamp, go for something more balanced.I am very dissapointed :(<br /> <br />

4-0 out of 5 stars Good in a home, Not in a zoo.
We have this lamp and love it, it's stylish, but really lights up an entire living space unlike other lamps that seem to only light up their little corner of the room. The lamp heads are all adjustable and can be positioned to light up every corner of a room. The only problem as others have suggested is the stand is relatively flimsy where it attaches. It's not sturdy, or thick, and so it's easily broken. Our 2 yr old thought it would be fun to stand on the base and lean back holding the pole, so it snapped. We quickly went out and purchased an identical lamp placing it behind a heavy piece of furnitre so it wouldn't be messed with and it's lasted and worked wonderfully.

I'd recommend purchasing the lamp, but make sure when you're handling or moving it that you be gentle, and don't keep it in an open space with young kids.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poorly made junk
The lamp is poorly made of a light weight metal. The place where you screw the pole stand together falls apart with little usage, making the lamp unusable and dangerous. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Perfect for preparing coffee at home before dashing out the door, this coffeemaker brews through the lids directly into either one or both of the 14-ounce travel mugs accompanying the machine. The stainless-steel mugs have rubber, nonslip grips, fit most vehicle cup holders, and are 6-3/4 inches high, with 2-5/8-inch-diameter rubber bottoms. Lids keep coffee hot in the mugs and are deeply indented and sloped toward the drink hole to contain spills. Both mugs and their lids are dishwasher-safe. The coffeemaker uses disposable paper filters (two included), automatically shuts off after the brewing process, and can also be used to heat water for tea, hot chocolate, and instant foods like oatmeal and soup. Made of gleaming black plastic, the coffeemaker measures 13 inches high, 5-1/4 inches wide, and 8-1/2 inches deep, and carries a three-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I just love this coffeemaker
I've had my Cuisinart Two-to-Go for about six months. This is the best coffeemaker: quick, easy, and good tasting coffee... even before considering the great price!

The only negative is (duh) you can't warm your coffee in the microwave if you don't get it finished fast enough.I've taken to requesting 16oz cups and lids from my local (better than Starbucks) coffee store when I buy beans. They generally sell them to me very cheap. This compliments the machine's time-efficient qualities perfectly.

Again, just about the best thing invented in the world of coffeemakers for "always on the go" types.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good only for about 9 months!
Reecived this as a Christmas present last year, but it took two months of moving before I could actually use it. Once I did, the travel mugs lasted about a week before the bottoms came off and they had to be thrown away due to rough bottom edges. No big deal I thought, I will just use other travel mugs. That lasted for about six months. The coffee it brews is HORRIBLE tasting! I have ran the "residue cleaners" through it, like all my past coffeemakers, and it just won't come back to its days of making a decent cup of coffee. Too bad I had a convenient coffeemaker for about 9 months!

5-0 out of 5 stars Coffee maker for lazy people!
I have this coffee maker in my apartment.I share it with my roommate (who is smart yet does really dumb things sometimes). If someone could mess something incredibly easy up, it would be my roommate. He has yet to mess up brewing coffee with this machine. There is one button so there is not much to mess up.

Not only does he have a habit of messing things up he also is lazy. This coffee machine is so easy to clean up that he actually takes the two seconds to clean it up after using it!The proper filters to use with this machine are cone shaped and size #2.I use coffee filters by Melitta (B0006NIRO2) that help making clean up of this machine a breeze.

Also note that there is not anything to adjust if you are going to brew one or two cups.To brew one cup instead of two all you would do is place the cup in the center of the drip. There are two drips and they usually would drip into separate cups, so if there is only one cup in the center both drips would go into the single cup.

Since there is not heat pad underneath the coffee cups while they sit in this machine the coffee will get cold if left there after brewing for a while. So you are going to want to brew your coffee right before your planning the drink it.On the upside the cups that come with this machine are pretty good at keeping the coffee hot.I am able to brew coffee and make it through the cold of a north east USA winter to where I work and still have my coffee hot when I get there. ... On your kitchen counter, office desk, or dining table, this powerful 1500-watt, 10-cup electric kettle brings water to a boil in minutes. Tea, instant coffee, bouillon, hot chocolate, and other hot beverages are just moments away. The kettle's every feature is designed for convenience. Windows on each side reveal the water level at a glance. The kettle sits on its power base at any angle and lifts off for cord-free pouring, while the cord wraps inside the base for clutter-free use or storage. The on/off switch is on the thick, comfortable, stay-cool handle, where all it takes is a push of the thumb to start or stop. (When the water boils, the kettle shuts off automatically.) Inside, there's a stainless steel heating element that comes clean with a wipe of a sponge or a cloth, and that's all the hard plastic exterior needs, too. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Daily use kettle flips its lid
I purchaed this kettle for my mother. She said the lid would not fit the kettle. (She had tried to fit it on backwards.
Not sure why). I tried hers for instant coffee and thought it a great kettle. I purchased my own over a year ago and I use it
EVERY day! It's never failed to shut off and it boils the water VERY quickly (I seldom use more than two cups of water).

Why anyone would use it without water in it, is beyond
my comprehension).(See different review). I highly recommend this kettle.

5-0 out of 5 stars still working 2 years later
I purchases this over 2 years ago, and it still works like the day I bought it. I use this everyday, without a single problem.
It does what it is supposed too without fail.
    Good Product.

4-0 out of 5 stars awful lid but it boils great
I have owned this for a year now and it does boil water very fast and i love having hot water on hand all the time because I make a lot of bread. I however hate the lid. You have to pull it off to fill the pot and it pours way to slow so you have to pull it off to pour hot water. The lid does not come off easy and when you finally get it to yank off you splatter boiling water on yourself and the counter. I bought the Philips HD4651 for my mother and I wish I had gotten the same one. I highly reccommend the Philips over this one because it has all the same great features plus it has an easy open hinge up lid and a bell goes off when it boils plus it has a filter. She used mine and agreed the Philips is a much better design at the same price! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL product
I got this for my 3 year old because he always wants to run the big vacuum.Fully charged it lasts about 15 minutes (perfect for his attention span).I didn't think I would use it but I love it for small messes and for the stairs!Handle comes off to make it a hand vac.The only drawback is that the dirt cup has to be emptied often but it is very simple to empty. It also has a great deal of suction, I was pleasantly surprised that this kid's vacuum works so well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Got to have it !!
I loved this so much I ordered 2 more for my two 4 year old grandsons and they love to clean up the floors. It even works on carpets. I have to say I am very glad to have purchased this item.

2-0 out of 5 stars OK for a disposable vacuum
This is the greatest little sweeper for about 6 to 8 months. Then the battery begins to weaken and won't hold a charge for more than a minute or two; and guess what: Bissell doesn't sell a replacement battery pack, nor can they tell you where to get one or even what type to get. Additionally, when I wrote the company regarding this problem, they offered to sell me another one, instead of trying to honor the warranty! If you can afford to replace it frequently, it is the handiest appliance you will own. If you want something reliable, the Go Vac is not for you! ... Read more

iRiver SlimX iMP-350 CD/MP3 Player with Ultraslim Design
Average Customer Review: 4.0 out of 5 stars
    Electronics
    list price: $129.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

With its beautiful sound quality, royal good looks, and simple operation, the iRiver SlimX portable MP3-CD player sets a new standard for future portable units to follow.

The SlimX is one of the most adaptable players we've encountered. It rolls upgradable firmware, eight-minute antishock protection, ASF (Advanced Streaming Format) and WMA (Windows Media Audio) compatibility, ID3 tag support, and the ability to play standard audio CDs, MP3-encoded discs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs into an ultratrim (0.6 inches thick) player. And the sound is deluxe, delivering crisp highs, discernible mids, and bass thick enough to make low-end aficionados nod their heads in approval.

Since we had yet to fully investigate WMA, we felt compelled to dig into the format. At first we were hesitant: how could WMA compress music files to half their size--at, say, 64 Kbps--and still sound good? After dumping an entire, 100-song playlist onto a single CD-R, however, we were humbled. The procedure was painless, and the sound was incredible. The iRiver SlimX completely fulfilled our demands; using the gorgeous inline remote, we easily skipped ahead 10 tracks at a time, used fast-scan to hear a particular verse, and made a customized playlist on the fly.

In fact, the remote lets you operate every function (save changing a disc) without having to dig the unit out of your backpack or its carrying case (included, but frail), and it also includes a hold switch that prevents accidental playback.

After the WMA-disc success, we switched over to an MP3 compilation made by a friend. While reading the different ID3 tags (MP3 file markers that feed song, artist, and album names to your player), we first played the songs whose titles intrigued us most, like "Nannari to Naru Deshou" by the excellent Japanese female duoPuffy. That's why ID3 tags are so cool--they allow you to search by name, not track number.

Next, we took the SlimX out on a long walk to judge its portability. Unless we made silly, Pete Townshend-style windmill movements, each disc played satisfactorily. We noticed that standard audio CDs popped more than anything we burned off the Web, which was strange. We also sampled the five equalizer presets, although we noticed only subtle differences in sound at low volumes.

While listening to any Web-audio disc, the SlimX fills up its antiskip buffer with the eight minutes of music. Essentially, this means the player doesn't have to read the disc as much, which results in prolonged battery life, and ultimately the SlimX delivered on its promise of up to 23 hours playing time. To get these results for yourself, just make sure the two flat NiMH batteries are fully charged, and pop an extra pair of AAs into the external battery pod. It's that easy.

For those new to ASF, MP3, and WMA formats, you may be disappointed by the SlimX's user's manual, which is skimpy at best. OurGuide to Making MP3 Files will familiarize you with the basics and help you turn your computer into a virtual jukebox.

For those of you who are considering upgrading to the iRiver SlimX--or are looking to pick up your first player--we highly recommend this player. In fact, we miss our test player so much, we're going to buy one of our own. --Arno Kazarian

3-0 out of 5 stars Still Kicking it around
great product, and i am still kicking this around but not using it as much as i used to.i used this for several years and worked like a charm, upgrades are easy.best feature is that it plays all formats. bad feature is that it's limited storage :(

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Buy!
This mp3 player is so versatile - it's great! It plays CDs, radio, and mp3s.It's very easy to use and is loaded with tons of awesome features.I took it with me on a cross-country plane flight recently and it was so nice to have with me.A must buy!

2-0 out of 5 stars Fragile player....coupled with POOR customer service
After having this player now for 6 months, I have had enough time to fully evaluate the player and Iriver's customer service.

First the good news. The player is cool looking and plays most discs without a problem.I have yet to have the player skip, although I have not put it through any rough treatment to test it.

    Now the bad news:
    - This player is fragile. Despite the metal top casing, the player is lightweight and is not built to last.If you don't keep the player in its fleece bag, the metal will scratch (and take away from the cool look).
    - The headphones, while not bad for manufacture provided ones, leave a lot to be desired. Why can't these manufacturers follow Apple's example and provide a decent earbud? If you do get this player I would recommend getting a better set of earphones.Beware though to get an efficient pair, as the player will not be able to drive an inefficient pair to higher volumes.
    - The remote itself is the most fragile of the player.Within a week, even with taking great care not to do so, the remote screen was scratched. The plastic screen is not very scratch resistant at all!Which is a shame as it is what you will be looking at as there is no screen on the player itself. Like the player, the remote is also rather flimsy in its construction. It is a lightweight plastic. It would have been nice to have the remote protected with the same metal casing as they top of the player. The original remote has wires coming out ofboth ends. While I though this would not be an issue, it has come to be a bother when attempting to look at the remote.I guess there is a reason that they changed the design of later remotes. Finally, after only 6 months of extremely light use (may be used once a week at most), the backlight on the remote stopped working. This is a real problem as the screen is hard to see without this feature.
    - Customer Service: I contacted iRiver customer via their website concerning the remote backlight. It took them over 2 weeks to get back to me.And then they had nothing to say than sorry your remote is out of the 90 day warranty, you will have to purchase a new one.

All in all, I give the player 2 stars as the player performs its function of playing audio disks, but overall I would not purchase this player again (especially at its inflated price). If you do decide to get this player, BEWARE of the fragility of this player and expect poor customer service. ... Editorial Review

The 1998 10th edition of Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary marks the 100th anniversary of this distinguished and popular reference standard, and this is more than just an interesting statistic--it means that Merriam-Webster brings years of experience and reams of citation files to the creation of this latest edition. Improving on their last dictionary, they've added more than 100 pictorial illustrations and supplemented the synonym paragraphs with examples. Along with the English dictionary, which forms the heart of the reference, the editors at Merriam-Webster have included a brief introduction to the English language and a history of the English dictionary, a guide to pronunciation, and a series of appendices that include chemical element abbreviations and symbols, foreign words and phrases, extensive sections with biographical and geographical names, signs and symbols, and a handbook of style.

But getting back to the book itself--it's impressively comprehensive for a collegiate dictionary, with more than 215,000 definitions. Each item includes a pithy wealth of information, with first usage date, etymology, and pronunciation, and clear, precise definitions. In addition, there are often usage notes, synonym cross-references, illustrative quotations, variant spellings and pronunciations, regional labels, and information on capitalization, function, and inflections. Then there are the extra touches. Under bible, for example, there's a chart detailing books of the Old Testament, Jewish Scripture, Protestant apocrypha, and books of the New Testament. Under months is a table listing the months of the principal calendars--Gregorian, Jewish, and Islamic. And wonderful line drawings illustrate terms such as mackerel, lyrebird, hedgehog, and the ancient Celtic stringed instrument known as a crowd. All this makes it a valuable reference--detailed enough for editors and writers, accessible enough for students and casual definition seekers, updated with the new vocabulary of technology, and rigorous enough for the linguistic perfectionists. --Stephanie Gold ... 5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK
This is a one stop dictionary. All you need under one cover. I purchase other dictionaries from Oxford, Collins and Cambridge to name a few and this one tops them all by a long shot. For what you are getting you should be paying a lot more. BUY THIS DICTIONARY NOW.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ugly Font Makes Viewing Distasteful
The font used in the entry window is plain ugly; so ugly in fact that I doubt I will replace my American Heritage Dictionary with this one. The characters are too close together and some portions of some characters are lined too heavily. My system is Microsoft Windows 2000. As a test I installed the product on another W2K system with the same result.
Other notes: it tries to install Adobe Acrobat over a more recent version.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good for everyday use
An important issue with choosing a dictionary is finding a balance that meets your needs.

My first choice of dictionaries is the 20 volume OED for depth and breadth of coverage. Some disadvantages of the OED are the price and the size. My second choice of dictionaries is the Shorter OED, which is smaller (2 volumes) and cheaper, but has about 1/3 of the entries (roughly 500,000).

My third choice of dictionaries is the "New Oxford American Dictionary," which is easy to carry and use - it has roughly 250,000 words. The NOAD is handy because it has definitions arranged in order of most common usage - "core meanings" followed by related senses. It does not have the extensive literary citations that the OED and shorter OED have.

My fourth choice of dictionaries is probably the Webster's Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged, which has about 450,000 words. The disadvantages of this dictionary are that the main text has not been updated since 1961 (although an 89 page addenda is added at the beginning), the layout is hard to follow, and it's a bit unwieldy.

Which brings me to my fifth choice of dictionaries, which is the Merriam-Webster's Collegiate dictionary. This dictionary has roughly 200,000 words, so it loses some breadth and depth of coverage. However, it's very useful for everyday use, and a nice balance between portability and breadth and depth of coverage. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Meets my needs
I imagine there may be a better thesaurus out there somewhere, but this one meets my everyday needs just fine.

3-0 out of 5 stars Merriam-Webster disappoints for once
This will do if you only use a thesaurus occasionally but it won't do for the rest of us. The usually superlative Merriam-Webster product line missed the beat with this one. Although Roget's is a bit more time consuming to use, it is infinitely more rewarding than this volume. I was very disappointed at the small number of synonyms found for each entry in Merriam. In Roget, you can easily find many words that differ by only the slightest and most subtle shade of meaning. In this book, if it isn't an exact match, you won't know about it. I also saw no point to including antonyms in a thesaurus. I would have preferred many more synonyms included in the space used for antonyms.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE single best tool to improve your writing
Most other dictionary-format thesauri (Roget’s II, for instance) simply won’t give you what you want on the first try.If, for instance, you want a more decorous word for “smelly” you’re brusquely told to “see MALODOROUS”.This means that most of the words you are likely to be looking up require a time-wasting two step process: first find the word you want to replace, then find the main entry for that concept. By the time you’ve finished flipping back and forth through the pages you’ve forgotten what it is your looking for.

The Webster’s version is a thousand times more convenient. If you look up a specific word you’re guaranteed to find about a dozen or so of the most common synonyms right there (funky, stinky, rank, etc.).This first entry is probably all you’ll need and it constitutes the main time-saving benefit of this edition. But there’s more. The real verbomaniacs among us get referred to the main entry of the concept. Here you’ll find the mother lode of words, often numbering into the dozens and ranging from the most commonplace to the ridiculously obscure (e.g. mephitic, olid, or stenchful). You’ll also find related terms (vile, rotten, pestilential), contrasting terms (deoderized, fresh, clean), and antonyms (fragrent, sweet) all in the same place, just as you would in Roget’s conceptually arranged International edition.Like I said, most writers are sure to find what they need on the first try.

The only other thesaurus that approaches this one is the Random House Collegiate, but I don’t think that one has definitions; this one does.I’m also pretty sure this one has more words than Random House, Roget’s 21st Century, or any other. It’s [inexpensive] for a hardcover, too,..., so how can you lose?
