5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent COOKWARE STAND by OLD DUTCH
We purchased this cookware stand and it arrived in a hurry, well packaged and all in perfect condition. No missing or damaged pieces, the stand was easy to put together. The surface is smooth, has a great shine to it, we are very happy with both the service and the product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent value!
Like other reviewers, I have seen a similar (but smaller) version of this pot rack at a local Sur La Table store. The Sur La Table pot rack is about a foot shorter...and costs $200!!I was able to assemble this pot rack in about 30 minutes--I didn't even have to ask my husband to help!It is a good weight and seems sturdy, even under the weight of 6 LeCreuset cast iron pieces. This rack is very upscale-looking and an excellent value for the price. You should get one!!

5-0 out of 5 stars I am woman!
I am Woman hear me roar!

After receiving the 60" Old Dutch pot stand in graphite from Amazon.com, I decided to wait a couple of weeks before I put it together since one reviewer seemed to have a difficult time with the assembly.

Today was my day and I had absolutely no problems putting the pot stand together. The important thing is for everyone to take a moment to read the directions, which are clear, simple and precise.

After opening the box and separating the parts, I sat down with a cup of coffee to review the assembly.I took my time, made sure that all parts were available (which they were) and within 45 minutes I had my new, beautiful pot stand.I say 45 minutes, because I occasionally sat down to take a moment for myself before I would start the next part. The pot stand is very level; not wobbly. The metal is nice and thick and the piece looks expensive.

The only advice I would give you since I speak from experience putting together cast iron furniture is:don't completely tighten up all the screws until after the entire piece is put together.Once you're satisfied with your assembly, then go ahead and really tighten the screws.

My pot stand is beautiful and sturdy!I put all my new beautiful color pieces of LeCreuset enamel cast iron cookware (which I also ordered from Amazon.com) on the stand and feel secure that it will remain sturdy.

The stand is large enough that you can fit quite a few large casseroles. skillets and saucepans, but it's small enough that you won't be taking up a large corner of your kitchen or dining area. The stand has beautiful curleques on the top where you could probably put potholders or aprons...I prefer to keep it simple.I have seen similar stands like this at a very famous cookstore in upscale malls for hundreds of dollars more.Amazon.com's price is right, not to mention free shipping.

The graphite color is beautiful...sort of a dark charcoal gray (almost but not quite black). The largest shelf starts at the bottom; the smallest at the top.My largest LeCreuset casserole is 5.5 quart but I feel sure that you could place a 9.5 or 11 quart casserole on the bottom shelf.

The stand would also look great with plants, books or dishes stacked on the levels.

Keep up the great work Old Dutch and Amazon.com! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars beware the size....
... this is not a 14" baker in the sense that measurements are commonly used when talking about cookware. It's inner dimensions are much smaller.

2-0 out of 5 stars much smaller than advertised
I am very disappointed by this dish.Although the dish is very attractive, the advertised size is a substantial overestimate of the actual baking area - as pointed out by an earlier reviewer. The length of the dish's package measured exactly 14 inches, handle tip to handle tip is about 13.5 inches, and the baking length is roughly 10 inches. If you want a 14 inch baker - choose another product!

5-0 out of 5 stars I use this pan every day!
This pan does it all... bakes lasagne, small roasts, casseroles, potatos, vegetables, desserts, cakes... and it is so beautiful, you can take it from the oven right to the table. Real heavy and hand-crafted look to it. The heat disperses evenly, and everything comes out perfectly done.I didn't have the same problems as the first reviewer did with size... mine is definitely 14" long from tip to tip (not including handles), and the actual baking area inside is 8X12.I have had such great results with this pan, I am going to collect all of Sabatier's stoneware. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Nice looking dish
I needed a smaller casserole dish than my Pyrex, and this seemed to fit the bill.I put it in my cart and found it was out of stock. So I checked often to see when it ould be available. It was priced so nicely and looked so pretty, I was veryexcited when they became available. So I bought 2.Sometimes when I entertain, I have the need for 2 dishes and happily thought I would have a matching set.Was also happy that the gold color I bought would match my Pfaltzgraff Naturewood dinnerware pattern so well, the gold would bring out the colors so vividly.Well, I got the package and only one survived. The one that did not live through he trip looked like its box had been used in a Samsonite commercial and the gorila had fun turning it into a rattle. They had not used much cushoining for protection and there was lots of room in the box it was in to bump around and hit each other.I hoped maybe just the lid was broken into a couple pieces I could glue together, no such luck.I have never had a problem with replacing what was broken in transit, I am upset because I now wonder when I will get my replacement.I do like the sole survivor of the 2 I bought. It does go well with my dinnerware and also with a bigger casserole dish I have had for a few years. It works well, and cleans up well.

My advice that is not conected to this dish, when you are next at the grocers, by some Dawn Power Srub.It is the best stuff for cleaning casserole dishes, which I used to hate to do and for cleaning pots and skillets, even burned on food.Spray it on, let it set for 15 or 20 minutes and pretty much just use a sponge to wipe out the mess. ... Pancakes, eggs, and bacon somehow taste extra hearty whencooked in a heavy cast-iron skillet. Cast iron creates superior heatretention, heats evenly, and loves a campfire, unlike flimsier pans.Fry up a mess of catfish, roast a chicken, or bake an apple crisp inthis generous 12-inch pan that features two handles for heavy lifting, and two subtle side lips for pouring. While the skillet comespreseasoned to prevent food from sticking, it works best when sprayedor lightly coated with vegetable oil before use. Whether used in akitchen or camp, this virtually indestructible pan should last forgenerations.--Ann Bieri ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The One to Own
Hands down, the best skillet I've ever used and owned. I used to fire up the grill all the time, but the Lodge 12" cast iron skillet has made me WANT TO cook my steaks on my stovetop these days. It's heavy, but heat conduction is superb. Just be super careful not to touch cast-iron handles when the skillet's hot, you may "brand" yourself... ouch! You can "season" the cast iron skillet yourself, but I bought the pre-seasoned one to save me the initial trouble. Follow care instructions and you'll have a skillet for life. The more you use it, the better it gets. Those modern non-stick pans (Teflon or what-not) can't touch it. There's nothing to dislike with this fantastic, down-to-earth, USA-made skillet that will grace your family's kitchens for generations to come. Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great price, terrific results
I reiterate the praises that other reviewers have given to this skillet. It is so well-priced for what you get--a highly reliable performer that is indestructible and that will outlast all of us. This skillet goes from the stovetop into the oven or broiler--or into a crackling fire--with no problem. The more I learn about and experiment with cooking, the more I appreciate that versatility. (Just be sure to invest in a silicon or other good quality, high-heat oven mitt or pad to protect your hands when using it in an oven or campfire.)

As much as I love All-Clad products, I've switched primarily to cooking with cast iron, and when I think about all of those Teflon-coated pans I've gone through in the last 30 years that must be filling up landfills somewhere, I wish I had never even heard of Teflon. If you can manage the weight of the cast iron, which most people should be able to do, there is nothing better and longer lasting.

Whether you get the preseasoned version of this skillet or not, the ritual of seasoning the iron with vegetable oil and coarse (kosher) salt is one that I always enjoy, and it requires very little time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Kitchen Pan I own!
I was always skeptical about Cast Iron pans, because they just sounded like so much work to keep up with - seasoning, don't do this, do that -- For years I just stuck to my regular pans thinking I wasn't missing anything. Boy was I wrong!

The pre-seasoning part was also a big skeptical point with me, but true to words, it is. I love this pan. It's heavy, but thanks to the helper handle I never feel like I'll drop it. Cleanup is so much easier than I thought, and it really keeps it's tempature, even on a flat electric stove.

I have yet to make something in this pan that didn't come out great. From pan searing steak to frying chicken, I've had nothing but a consistantly good experience. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Paula, will you marry me?
Paula Deen is my favorite TV star and cook on the Food Network.Nothing like the schmuck (my opinion) Emeril with a band and nothing but garlic.Paula doesn't need to perform like he does. She is a true southern cook and her recipes reflect this.
Watching her show, you will hear, "start with a stick of butter" on about half or more of the recipes, and thats how true southern cooking really goes.By no means is her food low-fat and she doesn't advertise that it is.I own all of her books, except for "Just Desserts" and absolutely love them all.
I suggest going to her restaurant, The Lady and Sons, in Savannah, GA if you ever go to the area.It is worth the wait/weight.The lady and sons too is a larger book, but both books are great in my opinion.

5-0 out of 5 stars Taking Top Spot as my favorite chef
I absolutely love Paula Dean, her show and her recipes.Although I most cook out of "Cooking Light" and the sort, when I want to serve something with a little butter or just a great dish, I turn to Paula's cookbook (I have 3 of them) for the perfect dish.Everyone always asks for the recipe of what I make/bring.

I read some complaints about recipes that are also on the Food Network site, but I don't want to keep up with all of them.Obviously they have more time-or more organize- than I;but I love the cookbook and having the fab recipes at my fingertips.

4-0 out of 5 stars Can't quite give 5 stars
I first encountered Paula on her Food Network show and was quickly hooked. Her charm, humor, and down-to-earth attitude reminded me of my extended family in the South where I spent a lot of my childhood.I can still remember my first experience with biscuits and sausage gravy as a little boy visiting an aunt in West Virginia (still one of my favorite breakfasts).Although as an adult my tastes have expanded and grown up (Thai and Korean are two of my favorite cuisines), and I tend to be a stickler for quality products, I have never gotten over my love of good basic cooking.Done well, meat loaf, chili, fried chicken, etc. can stand up to any food in the world.Plus, this food evokes memories and feelings that we simply cannot get from international cuisine no matter how good it tastes.Paula is the epitome (even if it's a little bit of a fantasy) of that kindly aunt or grandmom we all wish we grew up with, complete with a farm house, screened in porch, and hot biscuits waiting for us after school.

With that as an introduction, Paula's recipes succeed very well for the most part. Some are truly outstanding. Her tomato pie, for example, is worth the price of the book.I will be making that dish for as long as I live. Can you put a price on that? Her recipes are also deceptively simple. The tomato pie is basically mayo and cheese with a little basil and green onion spread over a few tomatoes.Sounds blah. But it is outstanding either hot, cold or somewhere in between. Her Chicken Bog is another dish I have made repeatedly and never get tired of.

My one problem with Paula -- and it may be my own snobbishness coming through -- is her reliance on a lot of convenience products:canned cream soups, packaged rice blends, cheese whiz, taco seasoning, etc. This seems to take her recipes out of the realm of true southern food and into 1950's or 1960's housewife food.No offense, but southern food existed long before convenience products hit the market. But then again, Paula was around in the 50's and 60's and that is what influenced her cooking. And let me emphasize these products do not appear in all her recipes. Many of her recipes are from scratch. And to be honest, I have not tried a lot of the recipes that call for canned soups -- maybe they are delicious.I do know that her beer biscuits (bisquick, beer, and butter) are fantastic so who am I to complain.

I give Paula and her book 4 stars.Even with my minor complaints, she is still the t.v. cook whose house I would most like to go to for dinner.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't use for hot food!
Bought this for the kitchen and the only piece that truly does what it is supposed to do is the vase they give to hold all the pieces. The spoons both melted in pots of boiling water stirring spaghetti. The spatula bent and distorted while trying to lift something off a hot cookie sheet.

If there was a choice to give a half star, that is all I would give.....you have to give them some credit, since the vase looks nice on the counter

1-0 out of 5 stars dont buy this junk, they suck!
i guess you get what you pay for. the only item of good quality in this set is the container that holds the pieces. i had one of the ladles in a pot of pasta that was only med high heat and the heat made the plastic shrink. the quality of this product is very cheap plastic. it feels like a toy. do not buy this junk. i wish someone would have revieed this as junk so that i didnt waste $15 on this crap. after the first ladle got deformed, i tried one of the pasta spoons and one scoop into the med high heated water and it ALSO melted. one scooop!!! this is junk and farberware should be embarassed to produce such cheap quality products. i wanted to write their company but couldnt even find the product listed on their website.

3-0 out of 5 stars Don't use these with high heat
... they will melt. Two of the items have already melted, either because I was using them under high heat or because I left them too near the burner. Other than that, they are reasonably attractive for what they are. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Really make a room cozy and chic!
I bought these for my kitchen, which is really large and bright, but was very boring looking (due largely to white blinds), so I bought these and the matching valence and love them both! They made the kitchen so cozy and stylish, I could not believe the transformation. Also, check out the other Waverly patterns (I got a great pair of drapes and matching pillows for my guest bedroom in a pretty blue/green floral)!

4-0 out of 5 stars Quality control
I love this pattern and bought a pair of the panels. When I installed them I was very disappointed to find that the tie-backs were sewn upside down.Whatever happened to quality control?I have had a terrible time trying to find a store to replace the tie-backs because they are all sold out.If quality control had taken place I would not have had this problem after purchasing the panels. Now I'm stuck with tie-backs I cannot use.

4-0 out of 5 stars pretty, but lacking
These curtains definetly add richness to our guest bedroom, but thankfully the room does not get direct sunlight! These drapes are not lined and appear to be a little thin even with only daylight coming in, and would be completely washed out if sunlight came in.They would be terrific if lined! ... A great showpiece for any kitchen, this cherry kitchen centerfrom American Woods looks good enough to be heirloom-caliber furniture.Better yet, it's highly functional, adding increased efficiency to foodprep and wine storage. The solid top, made from high-quality cherry, has been sanded to a silky smoothness and finished with a soft glow. Two inset drawers roll on smooth runners with no wobble or drop, evenwhen fully extended. The curved drawer pulls are made of brushed metaland are easy to use even if fingers are wet or inside an oven mitt. With room for up to eight bottles at a time, the hanging wine rackprovides dual support and a center reinforcement to counteract bowing. The lower shelf features plenty of room, resting about 15 inches belowthe bottom of the wine rack. The unit's legs are set at a 45-degreeangle, which not only looks nice, but also improves access to the lowershelf. A looker from all directions, the center features routedcorners, specially plated hardware, and wood buttons. Assembly isfairly simple and takes about an hour.--Emily Bedard ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars disappointed
I was somewhat disappointed with this product. It was difficult to put together because the pre-drilled holes did not match up very well. One spot I could not get to screw in at all. The wine rack is designed poorly. If you barely bump into the table all of the wine bottles come crashing down. I lost a really nice ceramic bowl that was sitting on the bottom shelf. The shipping took forever and the box looked like it was dropped out of the plane at 30,000 feet.

4-0 out of 5 stars A very good product for the money
I'm very pleased with the Maple Kitchen Center. For some time, I've been looking for a kitchen island that wouldn't bust my budget, but that was a well-made piece of furniture. This seems to be it.

It's a convenient height and size, with nice extra features like a wine rack, two drawers (with dovetail joints and full extension hinges), and a bottom shelf. The solid maple construction makes it a very sturdy and substantial piece of furniture (weighing in at 106 lbs).

My only complaint (and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) was that when I unpacked it I discovered that one corner of the wine rack had come unglued (the wine rack is constructed of 4 glued butt-joints).I don't know if this was a flaw from the factory or a result of rough treatment during shipping (the box was in pretty bad shape when it arrived); however, it was an easy fix...I just used some of the supplied wood glue (for use on the wood plugs for the bolt holes) and clamped it over night.

Overall the assembly was very easy, taking about 30-45 minutes from start to finish. All the parts were there and everything fit like it was supposed to.

4-0 out of 5 stars Really, really nice, not fun to put together.
...Anyway, once I got it I am very pleased with it.However, putting it together wasn't that easy.I had to resort to the trusty old "butter knife" to put some of the screws in because the holes are in such difficult locations (in-between the wine rack and the top piece) that you can't get a screwdriver in-between them to screw it down.It is very well made and solid wood.A really nice piece.I'm happy with in and am glad I ordered it, even with all the problems, and there were many, that I had to go through to get it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars IT'S A GOOD MORNING WITH THIS JUICE SET
Even on the grayest, gloomiest days breakfast is appealing when juice is served in these cheery glasses.

The pitcher is a handy part of the set, but we seldom use it.When there are overnight guests it is attractive on the table, and allows all to have as much juice as they wish.

Glasses have heavy bottoms so they sit firmly, and are the right size to grasp.

We've given this set as a housewarming gift, and it has been received with much appreciation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Goodbye cheese jars!
I love this set! After many (20+) years of using old Kraft Cheese spread jars for juice glasses, I've finally got a decent set, I must be coming up in this world!!

4-0 out of 5 stars mmm, refreshing
the glasses are cute, but very small (they are little juice glasses).
good for summer picnics and barbeques.
they are quite heavy and will not tip over all the time.they also seem thick enough to not break too easily.
comes with the plastic cover on the carafe, another good thing, whether it be for the refrigerator or for outdoor use.
a good deal too. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome board!Be sure to seaon it before use.
Wonderful! The height of it is perfect for our counters which are low to us (we're tall), so it makes it more ergonomic for us.

Yes, it's very heavy, but I don't see that as a negative.I was looking for a substantial one.I just bring my pans to the board to unload the food.I would not bother trying to carry the board across the kitchen. It doesn't move on your counter even remotely and it looks beautiful.

Make sure you season this board with mineral oil and paraffin before use so it doesn't absorb any odors or bacteria. Here's how I do it:

In a double broiler (or a bowl over a pot of boiling water), melt 10 tablespoons of mineral oil and about 3T of paraffin (comes in a block at the grocery store) until the paraffin is completely melted. Don't melt it directly over heat, as the paraffin has the potential of being flammable.

Immediately after you remove it from the heat, pour 1/2 on the cutting board and quickly--in the direction of the grain and in long strokes--rub it in with a lint-free cloth.I put 3 thin coats on mine and water beads like a freshly waxed car :).Let it stand overnight and buff with a soft cloth and you're good to go.

I tried doing strictly mineral oil and I ended up having to remove the feet, drill holes and attach the feet to the opposite side for use due to the odors that I couldn't get rid of on the side I was using.I would strongly suggest using paraffin; it's wonderful and won't hurt you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Tough But Soft on Knife's Edge
I got this board a year ago, and it still looks good on my counter. So far, I only had to add mineral oil twice in the year.I used it to chop heavy stuff, and it's very sturdy yet it has an excellent "give" on my $100s knife's edge. The only setback, is during cleaning time, it's very heavy (good way for weight-lifting exercise). If you chop a lot, and love your expensive knives, this is the only board you'd ever need for everyday chopping. ... Fiestaware Black 448 60-Ounce Handled Carafe

(price subject to change: see help)

Editorial Review

Celebrated in the 1940s, '50s, and '60s for its streamlined art deco look and colorful glazes, Fiestaware is enjoying a remarkable comeback today. Fiestaware's handled carafe is surprising for this typically art deco line: its pear-shaped round body, thin neck, and curved handle recall the rustic elegance of a classic jug. But enthusiasts will still find Fiestaware's signature concentric rings, rich glazes, and functional design. Perfect for serving beverages such as wine, water, juice, or iced tea, the carafe also makes a charming flower vase for a small arrangement because of its narrow neck. Pair the carafe with the Fiestaware pedestal bowl to create a charming, old-fashioned washbasin for a guest room. This piece matches other casual black porcelain dinnerware or complements Fiestaware in over 10 different colors and 50 different shapes. Collect pieces in one color or mix and match for a multicolored, personalized set. --Emily Wolf ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars cool carafe
I love this carafe - it is perfect for making flavored water with sliced lemons, limes & oranges. The narrow neck means that the fruit won't fall into your glass while you are pouring and the fruit staying put also means it can steep in the water longer...YUM

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Item, But Somewhat Useless
I don't use this item as often as I had planned when deciding to buy it or not.If you put milk or anything in it for breakfast, you have to put it back in the original container or another pitcher for storage, as this carafe don't have to lid.

I mostly just use my for brunch when I have company over.I really would like to use it more, but it is a big waste of time for me to have to re-store the liquid after use.

If you would like to use this as part of an ice tea or lemonade set, look around at local stores for glasses.I have seen them in the more expensive department stores.

If Fiesta or Amazon where to make an improvement for this item, I think offering the Fiestaware tumblers or glasses would be a great item.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for serving brunch.
I purchased the turquoise and sunflower a while back and just recently ordered the cobalt and cinnabar.I loved this carafe especially when serving weekend brunches--even with just my family of four.We feel fancy using the different fiestawares--and that is really special to my 5-year old.I use this for water, orange juice, or whatever kind of juice you want. And it just makes the table a little more festive. The only thing I was surprised when I got this was I thought it would be a little bigger.Other than that, it is absolutely beautiful and I don't mind having it in more colors than I already have. ...
