KitchenAid KT2651X Epicurean 475 Watt 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Empire Red

Kitchen

Editorial Review

KitchenAid's stand mixer is a substantial piece of equipment: 475 watts of mixing power make child's play of creaming butter, kneading dough, and whipping cream. The kid in you will appreciate how quick and easy it is to mix up a batch of cookie dough; the 6-quart bowl can hold up to 11 cups of flour, which translates into as many as 192 sweet treats. This model comes with three attachments: a flat beater for making batter, meat loaf, and all textures in between; a wire whip for egg whites, mayonnaise, and more air-infused creations; and a hook for mixing and kneading yeast doughs. All three are solid in construction and easily secured to the beater shaft with a simple twist; untwisting them is a bit trickier because the attachment stems are short and can be hard to grasp, especially if they get the least bit greasy. This model also includes a pouring shield for guiding ingredients to their proper destination, and the bowl itself locks tight to the base. Standing 16-1/2 inches high, jutting out a foot, and weighing more than a grown woman's bowling ball (25 pounds), this stand mixer isn't the sort of appliance you'll wipe down and put away. Better to find a square foot of free counter space for easy access; besides, this machine is as pretty as it is rugged--you'll want to show it off. --Betsy Danheim ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid no longer has my vote
As an avid cook and bread baker I was especially excited to get a KitchenAid Professional model mixer. The brand had such an excellent reputation for quality and durability. After replacing the mixer 3 times for reasons from motor burnout to a badly wobbling head I finally gave up and asked for my money back which I then invested in a really fine piece of kitchen equipment, the Electrolux Kitchen Assistent (spelling is Swedish as that's where it's made). It is far more powerful, durable, sturdy and versatile. Would never go back to KitchenAid!

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes mixing a breeze!
I ordered the refurbished Epicurean 475 Watt 6-Quart Stand Mixer, navy to match my new refurbished kitchen about a month ago & what a joy to have this quality piece of equipment to cook with.Bread mixes in 3 minutes! Mashed potatoes, carrot souffle, cookie dough...Bring it on!It is a substantial mixer, heavy, you will have to leave it on the counter...too heavy to be put away constantly.I have read reviews that the metal flat beater tends to flake with time. We'll see.I'm ordering the juicer (we live in Florida-lots of oranges in the front yard).

By the way, last night on the television program, Baking with Julia Childs, I saw a KitchenAid in use.Same color as mine but the Professional model. All the women in my office are enjoying the benefits of my baking & I suspect are a bit envious.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tough, but not invincible
The Epicurean has been one of the best additions to our kitchen (aside from the Pyrex digital oven thermometer). Used it to mix up batter for 20 fruitcakes (batter can get *very* stiff) one Christmas and it handled the job quite nicely. It also does very well with putting together dough for sugar spritzer cookies. We even use it sometimes to mix meatloaf. It groaned a little bit at times, but backing off on the speed seemed to make it a little happier.

The 6 quart bowl gives you plenty of room to make large batches of whatever you want and the shield/pouring spot helps contain the mess.

The only thing my wife complains about is the whininess of the motor. It often makes people think that there's something wrong with the mixer, but the Kitchenaid people said that's the way it's supposed to sound.

If you need a large capacity mixer, this is definitely one to consider. ... Read more

The perfect set to kick off a Fiestaware collection, equip a college dorm room, or pair with other Fiestaware pieces for a larger set, this five-piece place setting from Fiestaware consists of a dinner plate, salad plate, bowl, 7.75-ounce cup, and saucer. Celebrated in the 1940s, '50s, and '60s for its streamlined art deco look and colorful glazes, Fiestaware is enjoying a remarkable comeback today. All pieces in this set have the signature Fiestaware rings and coordinate with Fiestaware pieces in sunflower yellow, black, white, and other colors. With over 50 Fiestaware dinnerware and accessory pieces to choose from, you can build your collection over time starting with this one-person set. The 100 percent lead-free glaze is nonporous, so it won't absorb foods, and it's durable enough to withstand the microwave and dishwasher. 1-0 out of 5 stars Fiestaware DishesWill Break
We purchased 6 sets of Fiestaware dishes from amazon.com and we received 1 set (tangerine) with the salad plate broken.WE STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED OUR REPLACEMENT AND WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR THIS SET OF SUNFLOWER TO EVER BE SHIPPED.IT IS REDICULUS THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT SO LONG - POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WE HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR THIS ALSO. I WANT TO GET MY MONEY BACK AND GO TO DILLARDS AND BUY IT FROM THEM AS THEY HAVE IT IN STOCK AND I THINK IT IS CHEAPER TOO.

5-0 out of 5 stars At last, RED!
I was thrilled when surfing at Amazon early this morning to find that Fiestaware had issued a new color and downright giddy when I saw that the new color was the long-awaited red, or scarlet as they have called it. I love Fiestaware and have many different colorful sets in my cabinet. I frequently have my large extended family over to eat on special occasions and everyone loves to see my table set with this colorful dinnerware! Red was discontinued from the Fiesta color line years ago due to questions about dye safety. I had searched such places as Ebay in order to obtain a few pieces but at prices such as $90 a plate it was way out of my price range.

I couldn't wait to get to a local department store this morning to check out this new Fiesta color though I was afraid it might not be the shade I was hoping for. I was thrilled to find that it is gorgeous! I have seen firsthand the original red dishes produced by Fiestaware and I believe the color is an exact match. I was so pleased, in fact, that I bought two place settings instead of my usual one.

If you're like me and have been waiting for Fiesta to reissue this beautful shade you will be very, very pleased with this new product!

2-0 out of 5 stars Look else where if you want a good set of everyday dishes...
The colors are nice but that's about where the appeal ends. They are extremely heavy for dishes making them harder to balance and hold, especially for children. They also become scratched very quickly and it's not just from stacking them, though that would be bad enough.Everyday use with your knife and fork leaves marks too.In general I found the bowls and salad plates to be to small. There is no lip on the bowl so you can't hold anything hot in it with your bare hands.I recommend looking else where if you want a good set of everyday dishes. ... Le Creuset's brightly colored, virtually indestructiblesilicone spatulas created a buzz when they were first introduced. Nowthis set combines six red ones in a complementary stoneware storagecrock. Not only will these spatulas serve every cooking need, butthey'll add a splash of color to any kitchen. Durable, flexible, andstain-resistant, the spatulas endure incredible temperatures--800degrees F and 425 degrees C--without melting or discoloring. Thespatulas: one tapered, slotted spoon spatula (3-1/2 inches long and2-1/2 inches wide at its base); two solid spoon spatulas (3-1/2 inches by2-5/8 inches and 2-7/8 inches by 2-1/8 inches); and three scrapingspatulas of different widths (2 inches, 1-3/8 inches, and 1 inch). Thehandsome red crock stands 5-7/8 inches high, and its flared mouth is 5inches in diameter, providing plenty of room for tools other than thespatulas. The spatulas' heads slide off their wooden handles to go intoa dishwasher, but hand washing is more convenient. --Fred Brack ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars You probably don't need all of these!
I bought this set about three years ago and I simply would not cook without them. I am as enthusiastic as other reviewers who have given this set five stars, except that I only really use two out of the six pieces.

If I had to do it over, I would buy the very attractive pot and three each of the medium sized spoonula and the small spatula. I simply do not use the others. They are gathering dust as we speak.

Now if your cooking is a bit different than mine, you may have different needs, but I cook or bake four or five times a week, and I simply do not use 2/3 of this set. And, it is only the spoonula which gets used in high heat environments.

For room temperatures, I often find more use for a spatula which is a lot stiffer than these silicone plastics.

I recommend you find some way of buying only the pot and six of the medium spoonulas! Even these wear out from small nicks and cuts over time, and you do not want to find yourself without one at hand.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Starter Set
I bought this same set at an outlet mall (much better price, but same product).

They are very well built and have stood up to just about anything I can throw at them from heat to various sauces. They have never melted, scorched or stained so far! Even though they have wood handles, there is a protective finish that keeps them from staining. I did place one through the dishwasher (not recommended) and it came out fine too.

They have replaced all of my miscellaneous pieces I have had laying around and now I have an attractive addition to my kitchen as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the wait...
I saw this set in the blue on Amazon just before Christmas for the amazing price of $34.99. Knowing how much these normally are I quickly ordered them and was told they were on backorder and would be shipped to me when they were available. For that price, I would wait as long as it took to get them! I finally got them early February and they are worth the wait. I have used them everyday since receiving them and I wonder how I did without them. I wish I'd ordered my mother a set at the same time I ordered my set. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Love love love it!
I received this tomato pot for my wedding last year, and it has not yet been put into my cupboard. I keep it out on my stove!

I have made rice, potatoes, soup and sauces in it ... all to perfection. It really works and I have no complaints with it. It was actually my favorite gift, looking back. And the one I have used the most.

I plan to collect as many Le Creuset items as I can ... they are beautiful, durable ... and I remember coveting my roommate's when we were in college.

For the reviewer who can't believe people pay $100 for a casserole dish: What about as a nice gift for someone who will treasure it forever?

5-0 out of 5 stars Tomato Red, Fun to Use, Delight to the Eye
I have collected ALL of Le Creuset's fruit and vegetable shaped cast iron enameled casseroles. In my 40+ years of cooking these casseroles are at the top of the list for fun, functionality and beauty all rolled up into one. They are beautiful to display on a table or on a kitchen counter and very practical in cooking superb casseroles, soups, stews and other wonderful dishes. The color that they can add to a kitchen brightens every vist there. The exterior and interior enamel coating is very durable and easy to clean. I have cooked a multitude of dishes in these casseroles and have found them to be excellent in heat conduction and preventing "hot spots". The wider and lower shaped casseroles are a little better in spreading the heat.

The warranty against defects of 101 years will certainly last beyond my expected needs but it is nice to know that I have the protection since these are not inexpensive purchases.

The comments of guests served from these casseroles is always positive and never fails to bring a smile to my face. I use them regularly for the family as well.

There is a drawback to these whimsical cookers and that is the rim of both the top and bottom of the casseroles. There is no enamel on these rims and they can rust if not dried immediately after hand washing. They are dishwasher safe but I do recommend that you hand wash and dry immediately. I also recommend that you let them sit out for an hour or so to air dry before storing them.

When wet this casserole can be very slippery and the handles on the bottom and top help in preventing dropping them. Be really careful!

Finally, closely inspect your casserole when it arrives. My first garlic casserole had a two inch crack in the enamel. I did not have to contact Le Crueset since Amazon.com immediately sent a replacement to me and had the defective item picked up at my home at no charge. I commend them for standing behind the products they sell.

5-0 out of 5 stars The RIPEST Tomato!
This casserole is excellent.I bought this one, and the green pepper, as a set to use when serving salsas and sau to use when serving salsas and sauces. They look great on the table together. Then I went and gave them their own shelf and they've been so pretty together up there.I get compliments on them EVERY TIME someone new comes into my kitchen - often from regulars who just admire them all the time.I think they are worth the money just for the quality and uniqueness of the product but make no mistake, as darling as they are they are real workhorses when it comes to cooking and serving and a delight to use for host and guest alike.

Both of my pots came with a "stemlike" handle, not the round handle shown in the pic.Check out the yellow pepper to see the handle you'll probably get. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Still Outstanding After 9 Years.
I purchased my KitchenAid KFP600 food processor 9 years ago, and I was recently surprised to find that KitchenAid still produces exactly the same model. I shouldn't have been surprised. This is an exceptional food processor. Mine is in great shape after nearly a decade of moderate use (a few times a week), and I see no reason why it shouldn't last a decade more.

The 11-cup work bowl is ideal when cooking for 2-6 people. The spring that holds the work bowl in place and the cover on works as well today as it did when the processor was new. Although KitchenAid says that you can put the work bowl and cover in the dishwasher, I don't recommend it. The hot water causes the plastic to expand, which can make it difficult to lock the lid onto the bowl. Not so difficult that it can't be done, but the lid squeaks quite a bit after it's gone through the dishwasher. I bought the KFP600 shortly after it debuted, and no one had seen a mini bowl before. It looked useful. I thought I'd use the mini bowl to chop small quantities of food, saving myself from having to wash the big work bowl every time. Now I wouldn't buy a food processor without a mini bowl. I use the mini bowl to chop onions and garlic. It's invaluable. Think you can't chop garlic in a food processor? You can in the mini bowl. I prefer the mini bowl for onions, as well, because there is no risk that half the onion will be mush before the other half is chopped. And the mini bowl and mini blade are easy to clean. You can put them in the dishwasher without any ill effect.

The power base of the KFP600 is fairly heavy and stays put when you run the processor. The motor on mine is as good as new. The "clean touch" off/on/pulse buttons don't protrude from the control pad, so they're easy to wipe off. The machine is generally easy to clean. There is a place to coil the cord underneath the power base. It's difficult to get the cord to coil properly, though, and would be frustrating if you had to do it often. I wrap the cord around the base, where it is out of the way and readily accessible.

In addition to the 11-cup work bowl and multipurpose blade, the mini bowl and mini blade, the cover and the feed tube pusher, the KFP600 comes with a few accessories: There is a dough blade, which I confess to never having used in 9 years. I use the regular blade to make dough, and it has done an excellent job. Also included are 3 slicing/shredding discs which are mounted in the processor with a disc stem. There is a medium slicing disc, a medium shredding disc (both 4 mm), and a reversible thin slicing/shredding disc. There is also an oddly shaped, useless spatula. The accessories are contained in a large plastic storage box, 7"h x 7 1/2"w x 10 1/2"d, that is clear on the top and sides. There is space to store the optional egg whip and the multipurpose blade, as well, but the box is unnecessarily large. The instruction book for the KitchenAid KFP600, which has English and Spanish sections, is conveniently spiral-bound, so it will lie flat. The instructions are straightforward and well-illustrated, and followed by 32 recipes.

I have chopped, sliced, shredded, grated, pureéd, liquified, and made pie dough with this food processor for 9 years. I can honestly say that it has never performed less than perfectly. And it's still going strong.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Food Processor is Second to None!!!
My Mother got me this food processor last year for my birthday and the machine has had barely any rest since.I have shredded, chopped, ground, diced, sliced and mixed just about anything you can imagine. From nuts to pesto, to onions and cake, breadcrumbs and hash browns.Everything comes out perfectly. And the attachments are great. With the large shredder disk I have shredded zucchini for lasagna, with the slicing disk I make perfect onion slices. And the small bowl is fantastic. When I need onion and garlic, I first make the garlic in the small bowl, then the onions in the large - that way I can prep everything without having to wash the bowl in between.

One thing, though:I wish the attachment case were smaller or a little more practical. It takes up so much room on my few square feet of counter space that I usually end up putting things on top of it, which of course makes it difficult to get to the accessories. But I can live with that.

I love how the items clean up - nothing gets stuck, no stains remain and - most importantly - no smells linger.

If I had to do it all over - I WOULD GET THIS MACHINE AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT - I LOVE IT!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best, simply the best Food processor you can buy
There is NOTHING about this food processor I do not like:
It is simple to set up, it works like a champion, it does every task asked of it with out a struggle and it cleans up easily.I have had two other food processors and this one is better by far in every way.The disks are sharper out of the box and hold the edge better; they are well designed for their given task and perform the tasks flawlessly.KitchenAid has a world of option available as well.Buy it YOU WILL LIKE IT

Bright and boldly colored, this espresso machine from FrancisFrancis! is for those who relish sleek, modern design in their kitchen and cheerful colors in their decor. Leave it out on the counter, as it's too heavy to move around much. Besides, part of the fun is looking at it. The machine is 10-by-12 inches in overall size and has an instrument panel look on the front: flip switches, pilot lights, and a temperature gauge to allow for more precise temperature control, which helps prevent overheating the espresso. There's also a pull-out drawer in the bottom section to house the drip grill, a removable plastic bin at the back for the water supply, a built-in cappuccino feature, and a circular wire holder on top for warming inverted coffee cups.

This machine is designed for use with prepackaged coffee "pods," specifically Easy Serving Espresso (ESE) pods, or with regular ground coffee--handles for both are included. --Marcie Bovetz

5-0 out of 5 stars 2001 model still going strong! Great espresso
Having worn out a Capresso machine after daily brewing 4-6 shots of espresso in making lattes/cappuccinos, etc. I went looking for a more durable machine.

I bought an X1 in 2001/2 when it was a brand new model (in stainless) and it is great:

1. It heats up quickly.
2. It brews VERY consistently.
3. The ESE thing is the best mess-preventer ever.
4. Separate steam-temperature setting is great. Heats milk much faster than other, cheaper consumer models.
5. Machine has capacity to steam enough milk for at least 3 tall lattes before needing a quick "refill" of water from the pump switch.
6. I like the simplicity and total manual operation. The switches aren't labeled, but there's only 3. Kind of a morning meditation for me.

The most important, non-obvious things:

1. Don't leave a pod in the holder and move temperature to steam setting. When you unhook the pod holder, steam will instantly blow apart the ESE pod, which, given that it is more than boiling hot, will hurt, plus will dry instantly on the wall.
2. Use INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED ESE pods, unless you use them all within 2-3 hours of opening the tin. They sour very quickly, even in the freezer. I am partial to Starbucks pods, given my household's addiction to that brand, but I think that is more of a preference than a quality issue. Illy tastes fine, but you have to use them all quickly.
3. If you serve a lot of guests, the double unit (X3?) might be better. With the dual-temperature settings, you'll spend a lot of time running water through the unit to cool the steam setting back down to brew the next batch of espresso. Lots of refills of the water container, which is a bit of a pain to remove from the back of the machine.

Overall, a great performer after 4 years of daily, multiple use. This thing is a great machine.

5-0 out of 5 stars GIVES YOU A PHENOMENAL ESPRESSO IF YOU HANDLE CORRECTLY
Two months ago I bought the X1 from the new serie "X1 by appointment" at the online store azone.ch. Discount price about 500 USD including a box of 18 E.S.E pods from AMICI. The inventor of the machine Francesco Illy is a "pope" of the coffee industry. He founded the "Francis Francis" Company in Switzerland. His father and grandfather are the founder of the "ILLY" coffee brand. A name for sophisticated taste of coffee. Francesco Illy started to launch his own brand "AMICI". There are actually 4 different E.S.E. pods available. My favourites are the "Espresso" (silver box with red stripe) and "Ristretto" (..with black stripe). Please check amici.ch for more information. So, that's a little bit about history and now my review: When I read the negative postings I wonder why there are some problems when using the machine or why the coffee gives some people only average joy. Here my suggestions for a real espresso experience:

Rule 1: Strictly use the E.S.E. pods....the one from AMICI or LAVAZZA I can suggest. Not try to use non-E.S.E. pods. They will not fit perfectly.

Rule 2: Buy some high quality espresso cups. If the porcelain is robust and thick it can keep and lead the warmth much better.

Rule 3: Always use pre-heatened cup. Place them on top of the coffee machine. I never turn off the machine. If you switched of the machine, wait about 20 minutes before preparing coffee.
And important: Pour one espresso cup of water before inserting any pod. This guarantees, that the cup gets his temperature and that the machine gets its operation temperature.

Rule 4: Keep your machine clean. After every use clean the pad-holder. Put it in the machine (be sure there are no pods inside) and simply pour water for about 10 seconds trough it.

Rule 5: For the ones who experienced damages, I think, they didn't threat it correctly! After using the steam YOU MUST SWITCH BACK to the espresso mode and activate the toggle switch for espresso. Simply pour water about 20 seconds. Now the boiler will not overheat and protects the machine. If you do not follow that rule your machine could be damaged seriously!

Final commentary: Those people who wants to compare the X1 with any one from Braun for about 99 USD and think the taste is the same, I must only say, that they have no concept of good coffee taste. The Francis Francis is nothing for people who confuse real espresso flavor with the over-sweeted plastic or paper taste of any Mc Donalds or Dunkin' Donuts sewage.
The first time I have seen the X1 I knew, soon or less I will purchase it. The unmistakable design didn't relinquish myself anymore. Every day walking to the kitchen, the Francis Francis X1 smiles at me. A machine to take into one's heart.

I am going t give this machine 2 stars for looks and an extra star for function this makes it a 3 star machine.I will review it to counter another review about this machine. The review was written by : Diego Frare.
1-**You can only get a perfect espresso from a professional machine and only if you use it to make dozens of coffees every day. I think the average bar in Italy makes hundreds of cups a day, and in places like some highway service areas they easily make over one thousand every day.**
a-I don't know how is this relevant
b-It is not true, If you teach yourself the art of making espresso, then you can make "great" espresso from many machines that are on the market today, but making the "perfect" espresso is a debatable for even the professional machines.
2-**The most annoying one is the lack of a pressure relief valve, so the water remains under pressure for minutes after you finish brewing your coffee, and you cannot remove the portafilter without getting coffee grounds sprayed all over. **
a-I believe the machine has a pressure valve, that does not allow the pressure to go above a certain amount (my guess 11 or 12 bar). What Diego is referring to is the absence of a 3 way pressure relief valve. This crates what is called "portafilter sneeze" which he describes.
b-The solution for that is in the same box as the machine came with. I guess you need to read the instructions to get the best out of your machine.
c-The solution is using the providedTamping / Anti "Sneeze" Gizmo, with it you car remove the Portafilter (PF) right away with no worries of any mess.
3-**. Another flaw is the finish, too prone to get scratched, at least in the black version. **
a-I have the red one, and I do not have any problems keeping it scratch free.
4-**. Also, the front panel of the plastic drip tray should have been made of stainless steel: because it's made of regular steel, you need to remove the front panel every time you wash the tray, otherwise it will rust easily. It wouldn't be too bad if it popped out and snapped back in, but you have to unscrew the knob to remove it. **
a-I am not sure which machine is Diego reviewing here. I am completely lost. What I have is a cover plate made of stainless steel (your cup would sit on there), then I have the drip tray, and it slides out like a drawer (you could detach it completely for ease of cleaning, this is the knob you see in the picture)
5-**. I closely looked at the spouts, and it's a one piece die cast unit, so I don't think it's my particular example that's bad, but it's a design flaw or a bad die cast template **
a-This is not true. The PF is cast but the spouts are screwed into the threaded part of the PF, the cause for that problem is most probably uneven tamping.
6-**if you put a fraction of a gram too much, the system will not be tight enough and water will leak from the top of the portafilter and fall into your cup.**
a-the machine comes with two baskets, one single shot and one double shot. Single is supposed to filled with 7 grams. I filled mine with 9 grams (using an accurate electronic scale [error is 0.1]) and I had no leakage at all.I guess if you go above this for the single basket (which I do not see why) you will have a problem.
7-** consistently decent espresso with a home machine ** (steps)
a-great instructions which I think everyone should use

In summery Diego might have a bad apple, and should have sent it back to the company under it's warranty. But also it might have been an older X1, the new X1's have been almost completely rebuilt as of 2004.
MY NEG for this machine are as follows:
1-Single shot basket is hard to perfect (I still have not perfected it), yet for sure you will need to put more ground coffee than what the instruction say.
2-The new boiler thermo controller is very accurate è it turns on and off the boiler at least 3-4 times during the process of brewing 1 shot of espresso. This is good, yet the problem is when the boiler goes on again, there seems to be a small drop in electricity to the pump that is driving the coffee through.I think this is missed thing when the company made the 110V version of their European 240V.
3-Stem wand is too short and that strong. It is hard, but you can do some micro foaming with it, but not with too deep of a pitcher.

4-The absence of a pressure gauge.

I will not go and list the PLUS things since the Negatives should be a good indicator of the quality of the machine. If you need to read more go to coffeegeek.com and check their review of this machine.

Editorial Review

Le Creuset is famous for coating its heavy, cast-iron cookware with not just one, but two--count 'em, two--layers of enamel baked on at 1,450 degrees F, resulting in gloriously bright colors. This bright-red, heart-shaped casserole adds a note of whimsy to dishes, but its 2-quart capacity, handles, and heavy-duty construction make it practical as well. Both its interior and exterior are enameled--as are the bottoms of all Le Creuset pots and pans--to prevent scratching glass-topped stoves. The enamel surface will not react with any acidic foods and is easy to clean. The weight and nature of cast iron make for even heat distribution. This cookware gives you all the benefits of cast iron without the painstaking care. --Schuyler Ingle ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 101 Year Warranty says it all!
Not only are Le Creuset products beautiful, they are well designed and extremely durable. How many companies offer a 101 year warranty on cookware???? Le Creuset is the only one I know of to offer such a warranty, which in my opinion demonstrates the quality you receive when purchasing their items.

As for this particular design, it has to be my favorite, whether for special occassions or everyday use. I get so many compliments about my unique cookware.

Trust me, you'll be delighted if you purchase the Heart Casserole!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Be My Valentine with Whimsy, Beauty, and Function!
I have collected all of Le Creuset's fruit and vegetable shaped cast iron enameled casseroles. In my 40+ years of cooking these casseroles are at the top of my list for beauty and functionality. They are beautiful to display on a table or on a kitchen counter and very practical in cooking delightful casseroles, soups, stews and other wonderful dishes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great gift for others and yourself.....
I bought this little casserole for my daughter, and I liked it so much I bought one for me.The size is small enough for a casserole for a two-person household like mine, or a rice or bread pudding. Used for storage of leftovers--it is perfect.Besides, it's pretty.Great gift for yourself or others.

The only downside is that cast iron pans with enamel coverings are at risk for chipping. My pot came with little rubber separators that suspand the lid above the pot.My daughter asked me if she should take them off when she baked, and I said yes, but save them because they will protect the sides of your pot.

Another thing I like is that the pot came packed in biodegradable peanuts.Don't know if it was the French manufacturer or the shipping source, but keep up the good work. All shippers should take a hint. There is no need to use the old plastic peanuts. If the corn starch peanuts work with a heavy pan, they will work with anything. ... Read more

Editorial Review

One look at this rubbery bakeware and those uninformed about silicone will laugh at the possibility that it’s actually safe to bake in it. But safe it is and KitchenAid is just one of many bakeware manufacturers that is producing pans in this revolutionary material. Made of FDA-approved food-grade silicone, this fluted cake pan bakes a moist bundt cake just as evenly as your metal pans and at temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition, this silicone pan has the benefit of being safe for the refrigerator, freezer, and microwave and can withstand sudden temperature changes from one extreme to another without buckling. The nonstick surface releases cake easily and is safe for use with metal utensils aside from knives or serrated blades. An oversized rim makes the pan easy to lift and transfer to and from from the oven. The only noticeable difference with silicone is that the pans feel a little wobbly as you carry them filled with batter from tabletop to oven and vice versa. Placing this cake pan on a baking sheet will offer better stability for transferring baked goods and provide a level cooking surface in the oven. For easy cleanup, this pan is dishwasher-safe and will retain its nonstick cooking surface through hundreds of dishwasher cycles. KitchenAid provides a one-year hassle-free replacement warranty plus a lifetime limited warranty on this pan. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Worked Well
I develop pound cake recipes and have always used metal pans. I bought this pan on a whim from Target. It works very well. I use a flour-based baking spray and my cakes brown very well and cook evenly, with a full crust. I have used this pan numerous times and each time the cakes received rave reviews. Because of the flexibility of this pan, use care when placing the pan with batter into the oven. I have not had any issues with this pan, but I have been careful. I love it!

4-0 out of 5 stars performedbetter than expected
My sister got me interested in silicon baking pans. At first I felt anything that was THAT GOOD was probably unhealthy. (along the line of "how much teflon have I eaten over the years?" where does the teflon chip TO? ..my innards- ugh!"

First I got a blue silicon pan at a grocery store. It worked, and I didnt appear to be "eating silicon" but it stained terribly when anything was baked on to it.

Next I tried this pan...and Wow!! Doesnt really stain- even though I have burnt a good number of food products in it. It was at least twice as heavy as the blue item, and therefore easier to work with. The red is VERY attractive (how shallow can I be, caring about colors of pans? heh heh) and turning out cooked items is almost like a miracle - flip- and Whooomp! There it is.

I am knowledgeable enough about cooking to know not to take baked goods out before they are thoroughly cooked- so that was never a problem....and even when I OVERbaked....it wasnt a problem either, as items seemed less willing to burn at the edges. (which just may be my perception...but hey! my perception is what I work with)

The reason it didnt get a 5 was because after one single incident of serious boiling-over-and-burning-on-the-edges-of-scalloped potatoes, I was left with a teensy rim stain, the size of a "couple of dots" - and 5 means "perfect". I would give this item a 4.9 if I could, its that good.

1-0 out of 5 stars what a mess
Well, I'm all for easy clean-up & new technology but this one just didn't work for me. Let me say that I do own the muffin pan - which I love. This pan is another story. I thought the cake was done but when I took it out of the pan, it was not. I even used the tried & true toothpick method to insure the doneness (?) of the cake. Also, removing the cake from the pan is definitely a two-person task. I tried going it alone & wound up with the cake in many, many pieces. It would be impossible to get this cake into the oven if it were not on a cookie sheet or something similiar. At least the muffin pan offers a sled to aid you. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The mouth of this gently rounded pot measures 9 inches across, while its flat bottom is only 4 inches, allowing you to use the small burner on your stove for a relatively big pot: the wide surface area will speed any soup or stock reduction you have in mind. Cast iron, of course, has marvelous heating qualities, so heat spreads evenly from this pot's base up its sides. You can also use this soup pot in the oven; loop handles help you carry and lift even the heaviest casserole. The baked-on interior and exterior enamel coating means this pot will not react with any acidic foods and is easy to clean. 3-0 out of 5 stars Matte Black is not smooth
I love Le Creuset cookware, but I was not happy with the Matte Black finish.I assumed the matte finish would be on the outside of the pot- but it is on the inside as well.I even called Le Creuset support about it because I thought it was a defect.

If you read on Le Creuset's site, they go into detail how the pots are cast and then carefully sanded before being enamled.

However, this pot feels like it was just cast and then painted. It is *coarse*- I haven't used it yet, but I think it will be harder to clean, and I suspect not as durable in the long run.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Love of my Kitchen
This is the best thing I ever had in my kitchen.Although it is relatively costly, every penny is worth paying for this beautiful cast iron pot.It is the cook's best friend, second to none. One of the things I love in Le Crueset products is that you could use it from the freezer to oven, then straight to the dining table where you could proudly show it off to your guests due to its elegantly classic design.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most useful pot in my kitchen-too bad its French
This really is the best the best gift I've received in years. I can brown a chicken in olive oil on my gas burner then transfer it directly to the oven for roasting. Once finished the enamel cleans easier then just about anything else I've seen.

To heck with Al Clad and the rest.

This is the one piece that will never leave my kitchen! ... Read more

This is the blender of the future. It performs all thetraditional blending tasks (crushing ice for margaritas, thinning icecream) plus it can be used like a food processor (mincing garlic, puréeing peppers). The wide jar is rounder and squatter thanold-style blenders, which makes it easier to reach in and scrape thesides (when the blender is off!). To reduce splatters of strawberrydaiquiri, the Step Start feature starts blending slowly, then picks upto the chosen speed. This blender also comes with a booklet containing75 recipes--my favorite is the Frosty Chocolate Raspberry Latt&eacute.--Dana Van Nest

5-0 out of 5 stars Superbly designed blender
I bought a red one as a Mother's Day gift, but I tried it out just to see if it was worth the price. It didn't disappoint me.
Mom has gone through cheaper blenders at the rate of one every 8 months. This one has the power as evidenced by the much heavier motor base. Jar has plenty of capacity though some fruit lumps will lodge under the blade. Stirring with a chopstick should dislodge the occasional lump. For those who complain about the worn out teeth - you're overloading the machine! Begin in the pulse mode to break up the contents into small pieces before liquifying it - this will prevent motor burnout and the stripping of the teeth. A cheaper blender would have burned out sooner!

1-0 out of 5 stars Rubber Drive Teeth Don't Last
We have had this blender foryears now.We bought it after seeing one that our friends owned. We have used it for milk shakes, smoothies, and crushing ice.Honestly, we loved it.Then the blender our friends owned died. The rubber teeth used to turn the blade disintegrated. We felt bad for them, but never thought such a fate waited for us.Today our rubber drive teeth crumbled into dust.Garbage.Very badly engineered.Don't buy one if longevity means anything to you.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME...what's with all these competitors' SHILL reviews?
After my Krups died (lasted 4 years) I did a ton of research before I bought this blender, and in the end the choice was just too obvious: there is no other blender in this price range with this amount of sheer power, not even close.

The KitchenAid just blows away the competition from Cuisinart to Braun to Oster to Waring. It certainly was a night and day difference from my old Krups, which took about 3 times longer to do the same work (pureeing 35 oz of bananas and oatmeal with 5 oz of soy milk and yogurt). My sister has the Cuisinart 600watt model and it was also no comparison.

So what sold me on the KitchenAid, despite all the one-star single-reviewers?(NOTE: sure sign of paid shills, aside from the anonymous ones---only one review to their entire history or all their reviews praise one brand and/or attack another brand.)

1.Weight.Simple and consistent indicator of good quality in any electronic device (including speakers, receivers, etc.) is the sheer heft and weight of the thing---I went to a local housewares shop and simply lifted each and every display model. The KitchenAid easily outweighs all the others by almost double.

2.Blade.The KitchenAid's blades are bigger, thicker, and more multi-level than the competition's.Goes through everything in a jiffy.

3.Ease of pitcher movement: very easy to put the pitcher on the machine and take it off, zero twisting---just set it straight down.

4.Nice thick glass on the pitcher.Looks like you could kill somebody with the thing!

My dislikes:

1.Pitcher is only 40oz, my old Krups had a 50oz pitcher.

2.Plastic/rubber lid is kind of a pain to put on and take off, it's so darn tight.

3.I wish they would just have the simple flip switch controls that the VitaMix blenders have...without the VitaMix price tag, of course!

Now I have to say that I've only had this blender for about a month, but my neighbor has had his for two years and has never had the kinds of problems that many of the MYSTERY reviewers here claim, and the guy is a margarita fiend.

Hmmmm...could this just be a case of badmouthing the competition? ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon's Misrepresentation
In the product detail, Amazon states that this product was made in France, as it should since this is a trademark French brand name, so I ordered one.

But the actual product I received was made in Thailand. I contacted Amazon for a resolution since I placed this order with a promotional certificate. I received extremely unprofessional and ignorant responses only containing their lengthy return policy and they completely avoided my inquiry of the misrepresentation of the country of manufacture.

I also purchased a $200 Panasonic Drill that advertised by Amazon as made in Japan, but in fact was made in Mexico. I also wrote to Amazon about the misrepresentation, I have never received any response at all.

I think many customers would simply not have made the purchase had they known the misrepresentation of such nature. Since the return for such heavy items are very inconvenient. Some will just settle even when they deserve a better solution. Shame on Amazon for such misrepresentation and intentional avoidance to correct the mistake.

5-0 out of 5 stars This will become your favorite dish!!
This is the nicest casserole dish ever! It's big and sturdy and cleans up SO nicely and being made by Le Creuset that is quality you can count on to last you a very long time. I own several pieces of this line and highly recomend them to anyone who insists on a good quality product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stylish and Functional!
If you're looking for a casserole-type dish that's both functional and stylish, this is an excellent choice. What I like best about it is its ability to literally go from the freezer to the oven and then to the table.....food stays hot for a minimum of 30 minutes too.I've made many lasagnas/casseroles and desserts in mine, and it's held up very well....no visible burns or scratch marks (and it's been subjected to enduring high heat and many cutting utensils). Also, cleanup is surprisingly easy with or without using a cooking spray beforehand. Now I know why Le Creuset is as reputable as it is.Buy it for its functionality, and enjoy it for its good looks. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars least expensive cookware - in the long run...
if you think about the life-cycle cost of this product, it is a far better value than any other cookware on the market. You can saute, deep-fat fry, roast, boil, braise, etc., etc. in this thing.should you happen to "overcook" (burn) an item - it is incredibly easy to clean without scubbing by soaking overnight in hot, soapy water.should you have to return the item under warranty (unlikely, but I have had to return one), the service is excellent and timely.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Le Creuset Winner!
Ah, the big red pot!Every serious cook "must have" at least one, and this one is the perfect size.Heavy, but GREAT cooking, easy cleanup...and it looks fabulous to boot.Your friends will be green with envy.Get one!

5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money
This is my 3rd piece of le creuset. After using the 4 1/2 quart soup pan as an all purpose pan, I decided to buy this for some of the larger dishes we make.

It turned out a good purchase, especially with some of the dishes that need some sauteeing and baking. Thelid is quite heavy and fits well, which cuts down the cooking time with some pressure cooking effect if you dont open the lid too often. The flavor and taste offood... according to my wife, is the same as the stainless steel cookware I used before, but my kids say is better.

I paid $115 for this and got a bonus Le Creuset 10-Inch Skillet free. Even with this bonus offer, I think it is fairly pricey, but offers good value for the money. ... Read more

It is sort of big and I was trying to find a place to store it in my kitchen and my family laughed. Keep it on the counter, they said, it won't be worth your time to put it away! It is worth every penny!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Design - The Empire State Mixer
Earth to Waring, Earth to Waring: Standard American kitchens are designed with 18" of clearance from the counter top to the bottom of the cabinets.Your 18 3/8" tall mixer DOES NOT FIT on most kitchen counters.Hello, Waring, do you copy?

The unit looks well made, but the ridiculously tall design makes it impossible to store. It's also overpriced. It's going back...

3-0 out of 5 stars asleep at the wheel
I read the reviews about how great this thing looks in ebony, and decided to check it out for myself (buying one from Amazon). The electrical cord is WHITE, sticking out the bottom SIDE of this BLACK mixer. What an eyesore. If you happen to have a white countertop ... no big deal.If not, be prepared to struggle to get the oversized cord redirected out under the bottom back of this thing.Kudos to the design engineer at Waring that approved this debacle. ... Editorial Review

First introduced in 1936 by the Homer Laughlin China Company and reissued in 1986 to mark the 50th anniversary of the line, colorful Fiestaware has been a collectable dinnerware favorite for generations. While original Fiestaware can fetch prices as high as $6,000 for a rare piece in a rare color, new Fiestaware is affordable, features the same great styling as the originals, and, unlike older pieces, has a 100 percent lead-free glaze. With the signature Fiestaware concentric rings around the plate rim and a rich burgundy color, these plates complement Fiestaware dinnerware and accessories in cinnabar or other colors. The glaze is nonporous and durable, but some stainless-steel flatware may leave marks on the plates. These marks can be removed with a nonabrasive cleanser. --Emily Wolf ... Read more

  • Dishwasher and microwave safe
  • Colorful, casual dinnerware with a retro flair

5-0 out of 5 stars Fiesta Ware
I have used the same Fiesta Ware for the last 12 years and I have not broken a piece yet!Even when my 2 teenage boys were babies, and doing dishes, a piece may have slipped out of their hands, but nothing was ever broken. This shows how durable the Fiesta Ware really is.I would highly recommend Fiesta Ware to everyone of all ages.I own 3-20 piece settings at the present time and plan on expanding.I like the fact that you can collect all different colors and it looks great!I will be ordering more for when my 2 boys go to college.I plan on ordering my mother a 20 piece set for her birthday.I love it and I know you would toooo!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent dishware
You just can't go wrong with Fiestaware. It's sturdy, durable, attractive, cleans up easily (from table to dishwasher to cabinet). And if my rough-on-dishes family can't break it, no one can!

5-0 out of 5 stars Long Lasting
We use these plates where I work and they are awesome. I work in an assisted living facility and these dishes are used in the Alzheimer's area. Things in that area have to be durable and for the price most of the people who live there are playing, they have to be classy. Fiesta makes both of those possible.

I don't know how many times these plates have fallen to the floor, but very few end up broken. Though they are a bit costly, you wouldn't have to spend a lot of money replacing them or time looking for a matching color or pattern. ... Read more

Editorial Review

I like toast, but I never thought of toast as fun until I tried this Digital Ultra Power Plus toaster from KitchenAid. It's hard to be grumpy when you're toasting the morning bagel in a shiny toaster. And not just that--the digital control pad lets you select the exact browning shade you prefer. The long slots are extra-wide and fit two bagels or thick slices of homemade bread side by side (it also fits two chocolate chip toaster waffles). With its internal heat sensor and advanced heating elements, you'll always get perfectly crispy toast and baked goods. --Dana Van Nest ... Read more

  • Touch-pad digital settings for toasting fresh and frozen breads
  • Bread holder automatically adjusts to fit oversize slices

1-0 out of 5 stars The worst toaster for the max price!
Kitchen Aid replaced the first one I bought, because it toasted so unevenly and poorly. The second one was even worse, and even at the highest setting, had to be pushed down a second time to get real toast! They then offered me a "buy-back", but I didn't get the paperwork for that.I'm stuck with an expensive toaster that doesn't work.Don't buy this one.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Poor Quality
We received this toaster as a gift just a little over a year ago.Just like one of the other reviewers, the mechanism that holds the toast down quit working. It's out of warranty now so Kitchen-Aid won't do anything.Kitchen-Aid must have a massive issue with this mechanisim but they apparently are hoping nobody makes a big deal about a ...toaster.Well it is a big deal and I urge everyone who has this problem to call Kitchen-Aid at their service number ....How about a recall Kitchen-Aid, not for a safety issue but to take care of your customers?

5-0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid Toaster is is a Star
So I'm thinking, what can this toaster do that others can't for the price. Well I found out after purchasing my new toaster and trying it out the first time. Perfect toast! The digital controls are easy to use. The thin, sleek design fits great on the counter and takes up little space. And it's easy to wipe down the outside with it's smooth surfaces. The crumb tray is easily removed for fast clean-up too. I can't wait to try more things to toast. ... Read more

Le Creuset 1-3/4 Quart Traditional Fondue Pot, Red

Editorial Review

Ooh la la! Le Creuset, famous for its beautiful enameled cast-iron cookware, offers this handsome, heavyweight fondue set that is wonderful for an intimate party or romantic dinner. Made in France, whose famous Alps are dotted with dozens of authentic fondue restaurants, it turns out a delicious meal with little fuss. The trick to fondue is keeping it evenly heated for the length of a party or dinner--cheese fondue in particular separates or burns onto the pot if the temperature varies or the pot has hot spots. This fondue set, with its even conductivity of cast iron, maintains a regular, gentle heat that keeps cheese, chocolate, or other sauces smooth and well-heated. The pot rests above a heavy, black cast-iron stand, which shelters an adjustable alcohol burner. Brightly colored, sturdy and charming, this is a set to be passed down through many generations of cooks. --Maria Dolan ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars great set
The Le Creuset pot is great. I hardly can't believe that the person who wrote under the alias LeRippoff actually owns one of these sets.
The only thing that dissapointed me is the fact that the burner where the pan is on gets hot which makes it impossible to place the fondueset directly on the table or to pick it up without any precautions. For the rest just compliments for this set: heats evenly, easy to clean, functional on all heat-sources, heavy, looks just right.
Unfortunately these assets do not come for free. Think its quite pricy but worth its money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid fondue with class
The Le Creuset pot is great. It can cook cheese, broth and oil fondues equally well.Cheese fondues won't burn since the iron heats more evenly than thin stainless sets.It won't break if dropped like the ceramic bowls. You can start on the stove, unlike the ceramic pots, so you only have one to clean. The set is very heavy which keeps it from accidentally tippping (a good thing with a pot of boiling oil). The enamel interior cleans easily even with burned -on food.Looks smarter than the cheap sets too.If you're going to make fondue more than once, get a good product. ... This chopper from Zyliss will make quick work of most small and medium chopping tasks, and, thanks to the unique comfort top, it won't bruise hands if lots of chopping is being done. The chopper stands 10-1/2 inches tall, with a 3-1/2-inch base, and is constructed of sturdy plastic and stainless steel, with a stainless-steel chopping blade. It's easy to use--just place the food in the base container and position the chopper snugly in the base. Then tap the top a few times until food is the desired size. The rustproof, stainless-steel blade rotates automatically after each tap. Since the chopping is contained in the base, the amount of mess is minimal. Also, the 1-cup base container comes with a lid for easy storing of chopped food. For simple cleanup, the sides of the chopper are hinged and the whole thing can go into the dishwasher. --A.J. 2-0 out of 5 stars yes, it chops, but not good with cleanup.
I was initially excited to use this product for chopping, but was disappointed with it in the end. (Luckily it was just a gift.) It does chop up items, but not without equalor greater effort that you might use to cut things on a cutting board. I tried to use walnuts, and they become lodged up in the blades. I honestly can't wedge them out now, so it's not easy to clean. A better option for efficient chopping: get a ulu (cutting board and knife/blade)and you can cut things quickly because you don't have to hold them and cleanup is easy.

5-0 out of 5 stars probably the most used gadget in my kitchen
I have had a lot of different choppers and not been pleased with any. This is the BEST! I use it daily, from garlic to onions to nuts.. you name it.. it goes in there. When I'm done I disassemble and throw it in the dishwasher. I have two and have not had a problem with either. If you want things in big chunks, you only press the plunger a couple times.. really fine, keep going. It does a wonderful job and no kitchen, in my opinion, should be without one.

2-0 out of 5 stars Wayyyy overpriced!
The first time I tried this chopper was in the middle of throwing a dinner party -- I was making salsa fresca and needed to chop lots of tomatoes, onions, and cilantro -- what a MESS!The chopper handles "crisp" things like apples and onions and raw potatoes okay (unfortunately, only in very small quantities, so it's usually more time-efficient to just do them by hand), but with anything slightly softer like tomatoes -- forget it.It's also sort of a pain to clean.I'd price this item at $5.99 and THEN consider recommending it! ... Capresso 201.06 FrothXpress Automatic Milk Frother, Red
Average Customer Review: 3.0 out of 5 stars

Editorial Review

If you're a fan of cappuccinos, lattes, hot chocolate, or other drinks that use hot, frothy milk (and really, who isn't?), then Capresso's FrothXpress should become an indispensable part of your kitchen collection. After it's been turned on and warmed up for two minutes, it's easy to use. Just fill the water tank (which is in the actual machine), then fill the milk tank (which is a separate unit), and attach them. From that moment, it's just a matter of putting a cup under the spout and pressing the button--voilà, steamed frothy milk for a variety of treats. The milk temperature is adjustable from 120 to 170 degrees F, and the frother has 1,220 watts of power, as well as a stainless-steel ThermoBlock that ensures the aluminum parts don't touch the steam, a nice safety feature. The FrothXpress measures 8-3/4 by 6-1/2 by 8-3/4 inches (length by width by height) and looks sharp in gleaming bright red plastic. --A.J. Rathbun ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Good ideabut poor design for frequent use
Good idea but for everyday use it's difficult and annoying.
1. The safety switch feels cheap it catches and snaps in an uncomfortable/flimsy way when you press it.
2. It is difficult to keep the nozzle attached firmly enough that the safety switch operates - the slightest bit loose and it won't work - we had to wiggle it around every use.Changing/refilling the milk container always caused the tube to be loose so the safety switch would prevent steaming. Capresso needs to make the overlap of the tube connections greater so the safety feature wouldn't have to be so sensitive.
3.The residual steamed milk after releasing the switch was a real trick to deal with, if foaming directly into a cup of coffee or making hot chocolate - not using a frothing cup - we always spilled all over.
4. We cleaned it after each use but after less than a week of use the volume of steam seemed to have really decreased.

Maybe we would keep it if we only used it once a week or for special occassions but for every day us it was too much trouble.
We sent it back, going to spend more $$ on a serious expresso maker with, hopefully, easier to use steam.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not impressed
Upon receiving this machine, it frothed approximately 2 and a half coffee-latte type drinks before some major problems occured.First, the water tray used to provide steam leaked to the point where water needed to be replaced each time a new beverage was to be made, and then the machine stopped frothing milk completely.I would not recommend this product at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great machine
I got this from another company recently and I absolutely LOVE it!It provides excellent froth for cappuccinos.I live in Italy (courtesy of the US Navy) and I am hopelessly addicted to my morning cappuccino! This machine makes it easier for me to have my "fix" at home.I have not tried it for hot chocolate, but for coffee, it's wonderful!

Best advice is to play with it on a weekend and learn its quirks. The small pieces are a little easy to lose, so find a good spot to keep those in as well.Once I got started with it, it was a breeze! ... Read more

Pulling the cord in the lid of this salad spinner rotates thebasket in two directions, drying greens quicker than spinners that onlyrotate in a single direction.
