5-0 out of 5 stars Still Outstanding After 9 Years.
I purchased my KitchenAid KFP600 food processor 9 years ago, and I was recently surprised to find that KitchenAid still produces exactly the same model. I shouldn't have been surprised. This is an exceptional food processor. Mine is in great shape after nearly a decade of moderate use (a few times a week), and I see no reason why it shouldn't last a decade more.

The 11-cup work bowl is ideal when cooking for 2-6 people. The spring that holds the work bowl in place and the cover on works as well today as it did when the processor was new. Although KitchenAid says that you can put the work bowl and cover in the dishwasher, I don't recommend it. The hot water causes the plastic to expand, which can make it difficult to lock the lid onto the bowl. Not so difficult that it can't be done, but the lid squeaks quite a bit after it's gone through the dishwasher. I bought the KFP600 shortly after it debuted, and no one had seen a mini bowl before. It looked useful. I thought I'd use the mini bowl to chop small quantities of food, saving myself from having to wash the big work bowl every time. Now I wouldn't buy a food processor without a mini bowl. I use the mini bowl to chop onions and garlic. It's invaluable. Think you can't chop garlic in a food processor? You can in the mini bowl. I prefer the mini bowl for onions, as well, because there is no risk that half the onion will be mush before the other half is chopped. And the mini bowl and mini blade are easy to clean. You can put them in the dishwasher without any ill effect.

The power base of the KFP600 is fairly heavy and stays put when you run the processor. The motor on mine is as good as new. The "clean touch" off/on/pulse buttons don't protrude from the control pad, so they're easy to wipe off. The machine is generally easy to clean. There is a place to coil the cord underneath the power base. It's difficult to get the cord to coil properly, though, and would be frustrating if you had to do it often. I wrap the cord around the base, where it is out of the way and readily accessible.

In addition to the 11-cup work bowl and multipurpose blade, the mini bowl and mini blade, the cover and the feed tube pusher, the KFP600 comes with a few accessories: There is a dough blade, which I confess to never having used in 9 years. I use the regular blade to make dough, and it has done an excellent job. Also included are 3 slicing/shredding discs which are mounted in the processor with a disc stem. There is a medium slicing disc, a medium shredding disc (both 4 mm), and a reversible thin slicing/shredding disc. There is also an oddly shaped, useless spatula. The accessories are contained in a large plastic storage box, 7"h x 7 1/2"w x 10 1/2"d, that is clear on the top and sides. There is space to store the optional egg whip and the multipurpose blade, as well, but the box is unnecessarily large. The instruction book for the KitchenAid KFP600, which has English and Spanish sections, is conveniently spiral-bound, so it will lie flat. The instructions are straightforward and well-illustrated, and followed by 32 recipes.

I have chopped, sliced, shredded, grated, pureéd, liquified, and made pie dough with this food processor for 9 years. I can honestly say that it has never performed less than perfectly. And it's still going strong.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Food Processor is Second to None!!!
My Mother got me this food processor last year for my birthday and the machine has had barely any rest since.I have shredded, chopped, ground, diced, sliced and mixed just about anything you can imagine. From nuts to pesto, to onions and cake, breadcrumbs and hash browns.Everything comes out perfectly. And the attachments are great. With the large shredder disk I have shredded zucchini for lasagna, with the slicing disk I make perfect onion slices. And the small bowl is fantastic. When I need onion and garlic, I first make the garlic in the small bowl, then the onions in the large - that way I can prep everything without having to wash the bowl in between.

One thing, though:I wish the attachment case were smaller or a little more practical. It takes up so much room on my few square feet of counter space that I usually end up putting things on top of it, which of course makes it difficult to get to the accessories. But I can live with that.

I love how the items clean up - nothing gets stuck, no stains remain and - most importantly - no smells linger.

If I had to do it all over - I WOULD GET THIS MACHINE AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT - I LOVE IT!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best, simply the best Food processor you can buy
There is NOTHING about this food processor I do not like:
It is simple to set up, it works like a champion, it does every task asked of it with out a struggle and it cleans up easily.I have had two other food processors and this one is better by far in every way.The disks are sharper out of the box and hold the edge better; they are well designed for their given task and perform the tasks flawlessly.KitchenAid has a world of option available as well.Buy it YOU WILL LIKE IT

Microplane Grater/Zester
Average Customer Review: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Kitchen
list price: $11.95
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

For fluffy, evenly sized cheese shreds, this is the perfect grater. Its design is based on that of a rasp, the small and efficient woodworking tool. The cutters are especially sharp, which guarantees easy grating. But this also means you'll need to exercise extra caution--no one likes grated knuckles. The large handle allows for a firm grip, and the completely flat grating surface makes it easy to move the cheese across the blades. Carrots, onions, and medium to firm cheeses all worked beautifully with this grater. It's also an excellent choice for larger strips of citrus zest or ginger. --Jill Lightner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have for the Casual Cook
I never thought I'd ever use something like this. It just seemed, well, too fussy! However after watching Rachael Ray use one over and over on her show, I thought I'd give it a try. The price was definitely right!I must say, I don't know how I ever got along without it.It's perfect for grating chocolate and hard cheeses, and absolutely essential for zesting lemons and limes (what a difference fresh zest makes in a recipe!) without getting ANY of the bitter pith.I'm getting one for my mom and my best friend...I just love this kitchen tool!Don't think you have to be a gourmet to have use for this. Even the casual cook will find it indispensable!

5-0 out of 5 stars High shipping charges
The zester is fine but a $10.24 shipping charge on a $15.99 item is ridiculous. The only reason I bought this item was that I had a gift certificate that had to be used.Such shipping charges are outrageous!!

5-0 out of 5 stars What did I do with out this grater
I use this for everything. If a recipe calls for minced garlic or ginger, I grate it.I have even sprayed it with pam and shaved crayons with it for a school project.I will never be without this again EVER ... Read more

The 8-inch blade on this knife features a curved cutting edge and a blunt back; chopping, dicing, and mincing duties are simplified--and made safer--by utilizing a quick rocking motion on the cutting edge. Part of the popular Four Star series, the hand-honed blade is made with Henckels's Sintermetal Component Technology (SCT), which allows three different grades of steel to be combined to form a single piece, fusing together the blade, bolster, and tang. What does this mean in layman's terms? A strong, high-quality knife that will last a lifetime.

Founded in 1731, the J.A. Henckels company is not only one of the world's oldest cutlery manufacturers, it's also one of the most well respected, creating bestselling knives guaranteed to last a lifetime. --Kim Harwell ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I cook for a living...
I gotta tell ya...this has been the best "out of the box" knife that I have used in a long time and I have purchased and used every FORGED 8 inch chef's knife from every line of every manufacturer listed here on Amazon. The factory edge was perfectly honed and sharp as a razor right from the get go. Usually I have to use a sharpening steel for a few strokes to reclaim the edge but not this one. Maybe I got lucky but I do love it dearly.
The 4 Star line has been around since 1976 and Henckels knows that we "Pros" love it for it's low maintenance, ease in sharpening, comfortable grip, sanitary design AND price. The blade is classic German in shape, a long, round curve for perfect rockin' and a good weight for heavier work (although in the mid to late '90s they went to a French shape and weight for some reason). This 4 Star can't be beat for dollar value.
This is my 5th one purchased in the last 23 years...the previous ones were all "stolen" by line cooks on the job...'nuf said.

5-0 out of 5 stars There is simply no better line of cutlery on the market.
I've been using my Henckel's chef's knife for many years now, and I continue to be impressed with it at every use.The size, weight and balance make it comfortable to use, even for larger "projects" that might cause your hand or arm to get tired with a lesser product.Even after countless uses, the edge remains super sharp, requiring only rare application of the sharpening steel.I found this out the hard way a few days ago with a careless slip of the hand...The heavy duty stainless steel has stood up perfectly to umpteen-bazillion trips through the dishwasher, without the tiniest hint of rust or discoloration.

In short, this is truly a professional quality knife, as is every item in the Four Star, Five Star and Pro-S lines.Yeah, this puppy costs $80 or more, but it's definitely a worthy investment. You really do get what you pay for!Just a word of caution -- stay away from the lower-end Henckel's International line, which is much cheaper but not of comparable quality.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this knife!
I love to cook, and I've spent a lot of money on cookware. For some reason, however, I continued to buy cheap knives.I guess I always felt that the actualy cookware I was using was so important, that I didn't really understand how having such a good knife would improve things.

Then I got this knife as a gift from a friend who comes over for my cooking a lot.I couldn't believe what I'd been missing! The weight of the knife, combined with such an incredible blade makes 'slicing and dicing' one of the best parts of cooking! This blade has taken everything I've thrown at it effortlessy.I bought a Henkle sharpener to go with it, but it holds its edge so well I don't sharpen it too often.

This kinfe also looks great.Plus, with Henckel quality, you know this will last almost forever.

Pros:
-Holds an edge very, very well
-Solid and heavy - makes chopping so easy
-Well balanced - feels great in your had
-Henkel quality

Cons:
-I only have one! (seriously, I don't have a real con). ... Read more

Editorial Review

The bestseller among All-Clad's renowned cookware collections, the Stainless line provides serious and professional cooks with all the virtues that make All-Clad's worldwide reputation unsurpassed. Key to its high performance is a three-ply, bonded construction. Sandwiched between layers of stainless steel lies a thick core of pure aluminum that spreads heat evenly across the bottoms of pots and pans. The interior is highly polished 18/10 stainless steel, so it's stick-resistant as well as stain- and corrosion- resistant. The exterior is gleaming, magnetic stainless steel that works on induction as well as conventional stovetops and, with care, will remain beautiful during this cookware's lifetime warranty against defects--and beyond. This 20-quart stockpot makes clear why All-Clad's Stainless is so popular. It's perfect for simmering soups; it accommodates enough ragu Bolognese to feed the neighborhood; and it can poach a couple of chickens. Because the interior is nonreactive, tomatoes and other acidic foods won't taste metallic. Its lid and stay-cool loop handles are riveted for strength and won't be harmed by an oven's highest heat. A rolled edge facilitates dripless pouring. Although Stainless cookware is dishwasher-safe, hand washing is recommended. --Fred Brack

From the Manufacturer
All-Clad Stainless Construction
Each piece of All-Clad cookware features a unique metal bonding construction. All-Clad Stainless cookware sandwiches a thick core of three separate layers of aluminum between an easy-to-clean, highly polished 18/10 stainless-steel cooking surface and a magnetic stainless-steel exterior. The aluminum core retains heat and evenly distributes it along the bottom and up the sidewalls of the cookware. The stainless interior is stick-resistant and cleans easily. The magnetic stainless-steel exterior gives the cookware a gleaming finish. All-Clad Stainless also features the company’s signature "stay-cool" long handles, lids fashioned from gleaming 18/10 stainless steel, and highly durable stainless-steel rivets. All-Clad Stainless cookware is one of five collections from All-Clad Metalcrafters. Designed to work on conventional gas and electric ranges, as well as induction cooktops, All-Clad Stainless cookware is the best-selling collection in a full line that includes All-Clad LTD, Cop-R-Chef, Master Chef 2, and Copper Core.

Features and Benefits
All-Clad pans with a stainless interior cooking surface are oven-safe up to 500 degrees. All-Clad pans with a non-stick cooking surface are oven-safe up to 400 degrees, but should not be used under the broiler. We recommend using a low to medium temperature when cooking with All-Clad. Higher heats are not necessary and may cause discoloration (see cleaning instructions below). Other features include:

  • Beautifully polished, magnetic stainless exterior layer.
  • Pure aluminum core that not only covers the bottom of the pan but also extends up the sides. This allows for great heat conductivity as well as an even heat distribution so you won’t have "hot spots" when cooking.
  • Stainless-steel interior layer/cooking surface.
  • Long, polished stainless, stay-cool handles.
  • Sturdy, non-corrosive stainless-steel rivets won't react with foods.
  • Polished stainless-steel lids fit evenly with the pan’s edges to seal in flavor of your foods.
  • The All-Clad Stainless collection is compatible with an induction stovetop (with the exception of a few pieces) in addition to gas and electric stovetops.
  • The Stainless collection is dishwasher-safe, excluding pieces with a nonstick cooking surface.

Warranty
From date of purchase, All-Clad guarantees to repair or replace any item found defective in material, construction or workmanship under normal use and following care instructions. This excludes damage from misuse or abuse. Minor imperfections and slight color variations are normal.

Cleaning Instructions
For daily cleaning, warm soapy water is sufficient. Clean your All-Clad thoroughly after each use. Food films left of the pan may cause discoloration and sticking. To get rid of stuck-on food or discoloration and stains from using too high of a heat, we recommend cleaning your All-Clad with a product called Bar Keeper’s Friend. To use the Bar Keeper’s Friend, simply use a soft cloth or sponge and water and make into a soupy paste. This can be used on the interior, as well as the exterior of your All-Clad (excluding the Cop-R-Chef). The Bar Keeper’s Friend can also be used on the exterior of the All-Clad Stainless collection, LTD collection, and MC2 collection. For cleaning of the Cop-R-Chef exterior, simply use a brass/copper cleaner. If your water has a high iron content, you may notice a rusty discoloration. Use Bar Keeper’s Friend to remove it.

All-Clad Stainless Selection
In recent years, a professional-size 14-inch fry pan was added to the Stainless fry pan assortment, as well as several popular specialty pans, including: the small-size petite brasier with a dome-shaped lid; petite roti roasting pan; and the beautiful, large-capacity Dutch oven and French oven oval roasting pan with roasting rack. Both of these one-pot comfort food specialty pans comes with All-Clad’s popular high dome-shaped lid. Other specialty pans include a larger brasier pan with domed-shape lid; a complete family of round-shaped saucier saucepans for versatile stove-top cooking; a flare-sided Windsor pan in two sizes, designed for reduction and the creation of rich sauces; and a contemporary "Soup for Two" 3-1/2-quart soup pot; casseroles; an open stir fry; a versatile wok-style chef’s pan; and a "Pasta Pentola" 7-quart stockpot with colander insert and lid. All saucepans, casseroles, sauté pans, stock pots, and specialty items come with lids. Double boiler and steamer inserts, including the large steamer insert for 6-quart, 8-quart and 12-quart stockpots, are available as well. 4-0 out of 5 stars This is great for homebrewing
I recently picked up this pot to brew beer and personally found that it's much better than a thin-wall pot.Heats very well and very evenly, and also did not scorch or show "hot spots" on the bottom (un-fermented beer has a high sugar content and has to be boiled for about an hour so scorch and burns are an issue). Also, the pot did not reflect heat down like a thin-wall pot and since it holds heat better it boiled well then "idled" at 180 deg. F to pasteurize very nicely.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great pot for big jobs!
I purchased this pot recently to make a corned beef dinner for 12 people on St. Patrick's Day. Knowing I would need a pretty big pot, I checked the local restaurant supply and found some bad looking stainless steel and cast aluminum pots (and I should mention that I personally can't stand the 'grating' feel you get from scrubbing aluminum) in the $150 to $250 range. At $120, this pot seemed like a better value, so I took a chance and ordered it.

Let me tell you, I'm glad I did! I was concerned from the picture that the outside surface was aluminum but, but it is actually a very nice brushed stainless steel. I also own some of the thick and heavy (and expensive) All-Clad stainless line, and while the sides of this big pot are thinner (making it lighter to handle), it is every bit the quality product you would expect. I will be making many more big meals in it for years to come!

5-0 out of 5 stars A good stock pot for the money
I purchased the 16-quart version of this stock pot as a gift for my mother, who wanted a large, very heavy stock pot but didn't want to spend several hundred dollars. For the price, this is an excellent, heavy, stock pot. I own a 6 quart All-Clad stainless stock pot as well and have been very pleased with it.

Since another reviewer was so negative, I thought I would add my $.02 to the versions I did not purchase, since they are made in the same way as the 16 quart.

I will admit that the description is somewhat misleading -- according to the All-Clad representative I emailed and to my observations of the pot, it is not "clad" all the way up the side but has the aluminum core only on the bottom (the same goes for the 20 and 24 quart versions). This is not part of the durable, timeless All-Clad stainless line; this doesn't discount it as a quality product, though.

While this does have a "lip" where the clad bottom meets the stainless sides, it is on the outside of the pot, not the inside, so there is no danger of food getting caught or burning, as another reviewer warned. The inside is smooth from the bottom up.

Is this the exact same quality as the All-Clad stainless line? No, but at about 1/3 the price of the stainless 12 quart stock pot, it is a great alternative and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. It is an *extremely* heavy stock pot, far superior to other stock pots in this price range. ... Read more

For professional accuracy, nothing beats this digital thermometer for instantly ascertaining the temperature of foods, whether they're frozen, on the buffet line, or being cooked. Its 1/3-inch LCD face, protected by a rugged polycarbonate cover, displays temperatures from minus 58degrees to 302 degrees F, and updates every second. An on/off switch prolongs the life of the 1.5-volt watch battery that powers the thermometer. (Two batteries are included.) 5-0 out of 5 stars love it, love it, love it
I use this product all of the time. Meat, bread, you name it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Adequate, not great
As others have said, this really can't be described as an "instant read" thermometer. Before I bought it, I was thinking that it would take a moment to calculate, then display the temperature right away. What it actually does is slowly climb. It does jump in the beginning, like from 0 to 100, but as it gets closer to the right temp, it definitely slows down. I don't know why that happens, but you can literally watch it tick up from 137.1 to 137.2, and so on and so forth. Usually by that point I just yank it out and say it's close enough, which is hardly instant. :)

That said, I don't think it takes two minutes to read, as another reviewer opined, though as I said it takes longer the higher it climbs, so maybe if you're cooking really hot stuff it might. For most of the normal temps I'd estimate it at about 30 seconds. It just feels longer because you have to stand and stare at it. :) Not a great product, but if you don't mind a little waiting, it's quite cheap, and it will get the job done eventually.

By the way, I agree the on/off switch is quite small, but I don't have a problem with it. If you have nails you might, though. Happy cooking!

Zyliss, the Swiss maker of quality kitchen accessories, has refined the garlic press into a streamlined kitchen tool. There's no need to tediously peel garlic before pressing any longer--just place the whole clove into the press and squeeze. The peelings remain in the receptacle and garlic bits and juice are pressed out. The press is easily cleaned with the accompanying cleaning tool, which is conveniently stored in the handle so it won't be misplaced. Just match up the cleaner pegs with the holes in the garlic press to remove remaining peelings. Also, its aluminum construction makes this item dishwasher-safe. --Pamela Zytnicki ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great press, but requires some squeezing strength
I like this garlic press a lot, it's the only one I've tried that can process unpeeled cloves without breaking. It leaves almost no unused garlic residue in the press, and is easier to clean than traditional presses. However, it does require some force to operate, especially when squeezing unpeeled cloves. If hand strength may be an issue for you, you should consider the OXO Good Grips peeler with the black handles and red cleaning head, which takes almost no effort to use (it's also the easiest of all to clean).

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best and the Last one I will ever own!
This gadget is great!I have tried so many and they all broke. This one is worth the money.I put garlic in everything and have been using this press for the past eight years.(meaning I have not had to buy another press for eight years)And this one is still going, and showing no signs of wear.
And the little plastic cleaning tool is a bonus.

1-0 out of 5 stars What are people thinking?
I'm baffled as to why anyone gives this garlic press a postive review!I found it's performace to be completely sub-par.

The spines on the lame plastic "clearing implement" are prone to bending, making it difficult to align the pegs with holes.

The handles are too short for a solid grip, and worst of all, pressed garlic often shoots up and out the back of the press, all over the person pressing. (It would be comic if it weren't so infuriating.)

This press made the Oxo product (which, granted, broke) look not so bad. ... Read more

I couldn't tell you exactly how long I have owned my Oxo vegetable peeler, but it's a long, long, long time. The peeler looks as good and works as well as the day I bought it.

The tip of the peeler has a tapered, indented area perfect for quickly removing the eyes from potatoes and other similar little chores when preparing vegetables.

To keep the peeler working perfectly, I sharpen the facing blades with a diamond hone about twice a year.

I'm left handed. The tool is perfectly ambidexterous.

For the price, a terrific value of enduring quality.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good cooks know the value of a good peeler
I bought a Henkels peeler online and while waiting for it, I saw the Oxo and since I had nothing but good experiences with the brand, picked it up too, since there's always a peeler in the dishwasher when I need one anyway...
I have poor quality peelers I got as bridal shower gifts that came in sets with other gadgets and you can tell the difference between the Oxo and them. I love this peeler and it's just as sharp and even more hand friendly than the Henkels, which cost nearly twice as much.
You know it's good when a tedious chore like peeling potatoes is pleasurable. Oxo is a reliable brand. They've never let me down.

5-0 out of 5 stars Truly the best
I first bought this peeler several years ago and thought it was great. Then I lost it (threw it out with the peels!) and had to go back to a 'regular' one. Ouch! Now I really appreciate my Good Grips peeler.

The big handle truly is comfortable and the blade never seemed to dull, even after four years of steady use. One reviewer mentioned how hard the peeler is to clean - but a swipe of a vegetable brush gets in the nooks and crannies nicely, so I disagree.

It's so easy to peel vegetables with this thing, and you don't have to worry about taking the skin off your knuckles along with the peels. The eye-remover is a bit harder to use, but you can't slip and jab yourself with it either, which I really like.

I love this peeler. I'm not peeling potatoes again until I get my new one!

Editorial Review

The bestseller among All-Clad's renowned cookware collections, the Stainless line provides serious and professional cooks with all the virtues that make All-Clad's worldwide reputation unsurpassed. Key to its high performance is a three-ply, bonded construction. Sandwiched between the exterior and an 18/10 stainless-steel interior is a thick aluminum core that spreads heat evenly across the bottom of the pan and all the way up its sides. The interior is 18/10 stainless steel, highly polished so it's stick- as well as stain- and corrosion-resistant. The exterior is gleaming, magnetic stainless steel that works on induction as well as conventional stovetops and, with care, remains beautiful during this cookware's lifetime warranty against defects--and beyond.

This big, heavy roasting pan makes clear why All-Clad's Stainless is so popular. It's 16 inches long and 13 inches wide, large enough to hold a massive turkey, two big chickens, or a family-size prime rib. Polished 18/10 stainless-steel handles are riveted to the pan for strength, provide 2 inches of space to accommodate big hands, stay cool on the stovetop, and stability and ease when the pan is lifted.

2-0 out of 5 stars My pan has warped and is getting worse
At first we loved this pan. We've used it quite a bit, but recently it has started to warp and it gets worse when it is heated. I can no longer sear a roast and then put it in the oven because the pan is so uneven.I've contacted All Clad and am waiting to see what they say. Needless to say, I would have been much happier with a less expensive pan.I am very happy with all the other All Clad pans that we have, but this one is a disappointment.

2-0 out of 5 stars Overpriced
This item is the black sheep of the All Clad line. It is NOT a triply pan like other All Clad products and is made entirely of stainless steel(no aluminum). It is also made in Korea where other All Clad products are made in the USA.

There are better roasters out there for less than half the price of this roaster.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy this pan!
After finishing the best turkey I have ever made for Thanksgiving, I cannot highly recommend this pan!An investment for sure, I was lucky enough to receive it as a gift.At first I was hesitent about cooking on stainless steel. My Mom has a set of some cheepy brand of stainless steel that she got in 1971 as a wedding gift (still has them) and they are a pain to cook on, everything sticks. Not in these pans! The majority of the time they wash right up.Sometimes you might have to use a little Barkeepers Friend on them to keep them sparkling, but it takes two seconds to clean with that. When we got married I had started with Calphalon.I am definately switching to All Clad!!!Much more simpler. ... This classic, straight-sided 2-quart saucepan makes clear why All-Clad's Stainless line is so popular. Because the aluminum core extends up the sides, foods cook uniformly in the pan, even though it's 4-1/4 inches deep. And because the interior is nonreactive, the taste of tomato-based pasta sauces and other acidic foods won't be metallic. Its polished 18/10 stainless-steel pan and lid handles are riveted for strength and grooved on the top for comfort. The long handle (holed for hanging on a hook or peg) stays cool on the stovetop but won't be harmed by an oven's highest heat. Although Stainless cookware is dishwasher-safe, hand washing is recommended. --Fred Brack

5-0 out of 5 stars All-Clad:The Quality's There if You Need It

All-Clad makes quality cookware with professional materials and thoughtful design. The two-quart saucepan is specialized yet versatile (see the Amazon guide which suggests making rice, potatoes, hot chocolate, etc.). The materials and weight ensure even heat distribution, no scorching, relatively easy clean-up, and a cool handle. I am intrigued by the review of the far more economical "Sur La Table" brand (surlatable.com), a company which also sells over the internet.

In a way, it's alittle like buying a bicycle. You may not need a 28-speed bike, and you may not need the features and specialization of All-Clad. No problem with that. But if you're a serious home chef who knows what you need, All-Clad has the intelligent design features you'll appreciate for a long time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great value from ALL-CLAD
I had never heard of ALL-CLAD products until my brother-in-law (of all people--he hates to cook) purchased a set of cookware that was on sale. When I saw it in his kitchen, I thought it looked so good, I picked up this saucepan (I'm forever making sauces). It was one of the best purchases, kitchenwise, I'd made in a while. It has the two qualities that all cooks demand: it's easy to clean and it's durable. The lid sits firmly and snugly.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Head of Steam!
I have read people's comments about the relatively small diameter (6") of All-Clad's 2-quart saucepan.I find that the narrow diameter of this pan maintains a very hot, moist "atmosphere" in the upper region of the inside, even with the lid off.Because of that, the top of the food in the pan benefits from the radiant heat above it as well as from the physical-contact heat of the bottom and sides of the pan, even as you are adding ingredients and stirring, and with little loss of moisture from the food. The narrowness of the top of the pan helps prevent the wafting away of heat and moisture.(Using a long-handled stirring tool helps to protect your fingertips from the steam!)If you find that you are filling this pot with food, you really should transfer the food to a larger pot.In the 2-quart pan, leave enough space above the food for the "head of steam".A truly wonderful design! ... Whether you're grilling chicken, steaming corn on the cob, or serving salad, these tongs are sure to be helpful. With a durable, rustproof, stainless-steel handle and nylon tips, which resist heat up to 400 degrees, this tool is ideal for lifting and flipping hot foods. Plus, its 12-inch length lets you keep your distance from a sizzling grill or a boiling pot of water. In addition, smooth grips along the tongs' edges allow you to easily pick up tender meat without piercing it. But maybe the most handy feature these tongs offer is their locking mechanism. By pushing down the ring at the top of the handle you lock the tongs into a closed position, making it easy to store them in a drawer or transport them to a barbecue. To open, simply pull up on the ring. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Amco Stainless-Steel and Nylon Locking Tongs
They are acceptable as one can use them w/ non-stick cookware. They were the only tongs I was able to find for use w/ non-stick cookware, when I ordered them last year.
They do not grip well at all: the "gripping" parts shift when you try to grip something. They also have really sharp edges on all the stainless steel parts. I expected a better qualityfrom the Amco brand. BTW, the locking mechanism works just the opposite than most other "regular" tongs I have used + the mechanism also unexpectedly disengages by itself...

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't know how I managed without it
After purchasing this quite a while ago from Amazon and after almost daily use since then :::

[1] It's THE SAFEST utensil that this older, rather unsteady, & quite short woman has found so far to handle ANY hot foods cooking on any flat surface. -- Just for one example : I oven-char many veggies before using in a recipe : eggplant, tomatoes, garlic, onions, etc.The idea is to blacken & blister the veggies' skin all over under the oven broiler, so it then comes off very easily after a brief icewater bath. --For me, it's better if I can rotate the veggies while they're still under the broiler, rather than having to pull the broiler pan in & out to do it.Well, before I tried these tongs it was always either my oven mitt or ME, not the veggies, which got the most charring-blackening-blistering during the rotating process!

[2] In answer to a previous reviewer's difficulty using the tongs with regular metal (not nonstick) pans: We have sets of both types of pans. These tongs WILL work perfectly with regular metal pans IF you apply a very light spray or coating of some sort on the pan. -- Our choice is always a good-quality olive oil [the Misto sprayer sold here at Amazon does a fantastic & quick job of delivering a truly LIGHT coating of any oil]. However, a very small amount of any cooking oil or even butter, spread around with a paper towel as the metal pan is just beginning to warm, will also do the trick. --Let's face it, nothing but a heavy hand with a heavy spatula is gonna pry a pork chop off a metal surface on or under high heat!

[3] This and especially its shorter companions (which were also available at one time here at Amazon too, not sure if they still are) make very good-looking & easy-to-use SERVING utensils AT THE TABLE, for various kinds of salads, for bread or rolls, for chops or small steaks, in fact for just about anything that's not 'liquidy'. --The locking feature helps them take up much less room in or atop a serving dish or actually on the table than one would think.-- AND, if you want spoon-rests or "TONG-RESTS" for the business end of these things : Try a pretty set of those shallow long/narrow corn-on-the-cob serving dishes! They work perfectly for either tabletop or stovetop.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic item
Great item! I have looked for something like this to use in non-stick cookware so as not to scratch. It is finally here!!I have used it several times. It is a great product.I even bought one for my sister too!I love it and I am sure you will too. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars About pricing errors
My guess is that they tried to get rid of some old inventory by marking these down but sold way more than they expected and realized that they can't make up the costs. You can always take advantage of their hokey Gold Box deals that make you think you're special even though they're offered to everyone and their cousin.

1-0 out of 5 stars Good product...TERRIBLE vendor!Buy elsewhere.
Amazon seems to experience a disproportionate number of "pricing errors".Whenever you attempt to purchase anything at Amazon that represents a 50% or higher discount, don't expect to receive it.Poor business practices.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Underrated Tool
I'm surprised that more people don't talk about food mills.I got this one for Christmas.I don't have a food processor and I want to be able to make thick pureed bean soups, homemade applesauce and the like.I can't get enough of this food mill! The three blades are more than adequate for everything I have done so far.I may never buy applesauce or tomato sauce again.I'm looking forward to trying it for mashed potatoes and more soups. The only drawback is that the assembly instructions aren't really clear.I was able to get the food mill put together without much trouble, but clear instructions would have been nice. There are also a few recipes enclosed that I have tried with great success. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Be Careful of This One
I just wrote up a return for this coffee maker after having received it less than a couple of hours ago.The unit is defective, it won't feed the water through to the carafe.I've been a Krups fan for many years and have owned several of their coffeemakers and when they work, they're excellent. This product "appeared" to me to be re-conditioned as the exterior had scratches which shouldn't be on a brand new product. If you do buy this product, I advise you to attend to it the first time you attempt to use it.Due to the defect, the water sits in the back of the unit and begins to boil, this caused a large portion of the water to spew out over the lid and could have been dangerous with the unit so close to an outlet.

2-0 out of 5 stars More price, less coffee
A long time Mr. Coffee user, I treated myself to this Krups with all its bells and whistles. What a mistake! After 10 months, it just stopped working. Granted, it made pretty good coffee when it worked but those memories aren't helping me now.

It's at a service center now (I guess I'm lucky to have one within 30 miles of my house) and the comment I got was: "It's going to be a while. We have a backlog of Krups machines right now." So my fancy coffee maker and it's deep-brew system are gathering dust in an applicance shop. Color me unhappy.

I dropped my Mr. Coffee (half the price of the Krups, by the way) off the back of Hummers, drug it through sand, muck, rain, snow - it always turned on and brewed a drinkable cup of coffee. Lesson Learned.

3-0 out of 5 stars Died after 2 years
We received this coffeemaker as a wedding gift. It worked great and made great coffee for two years. Then suddenly the digital display went blank and we could only get it to turn on sporadically. It seems that the coffee-making function is perfectly fine but something is wrong with it electronically. We took it to a repair shop and they claimed it was a problem with the thermostat and said they had just replaced the thermostat on 5 other Krups coffeemakers. However that didn't solve the problem - the digital display immediately went out again. We are now going to shop for a coffeemaker with fewer bells and whistles so we can count on a longer lifetime. Just wanted to warn other shoppers about this one. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The bestseller among All-Clad's renowned cookware collections, the Stainless line provides serious and professional cooks all the virtues that make All-Clad's worldwide reputation unsurpassed. Key to its high performance is a three-ply, bonded construction. Sandwiched between layers of stainless steel is a thick core of pure aluminum that spreads heat evenly across the bottoms of pots and pans and all the way up the sides. The exterior is gleaming, magnetic stainless steel that works on induction as well as conventional stovetops, and, with care, remains beautiful during this cookware's lifetime warranty against defects--and beyond. Certain pieces, like this one, have two interior layers, one of 18/10 stainless steel and the other of scratch-resistant, professional-grade nonstick coating bonded to the steel.

This classic, slope-sided fry pan makes clear why All-Clad's Stainless nonstick line is so popular. It's 10 inches in diameter, perfect for cooking tuna or tofu, and the nonstick coating allows you to cook with little or no fat for a healthful meal. Its polished 18/10 stainless-steel handle is riveted to the pan for strength, grooved on the top and rounded on the bottom for comfort, and holed in the end for hanging on a hook or peg. The long handle stays cool on the stovetop but won't be harmed by an oven's heat. Although Stainless cookware is dishwasher-safe, nonstick pieces should be hand washed.

5-0 out of 5 stars All-Clad Stainless 10-Inch Nonstick Fry Pan - Love it!
Not only is All Clad stainless cookware superb, the nonstick is superb as well!I am not a fan of nonstick in general however I make an exception with fry pans.Eggs and cheese are just so much healthier when they are cooked with less oil. That being said I have the 7, 8 & two of the 10 inch All Clad nonstick fry pans and I couldn't be happier with them.I have 2 of the 10 inch so I can make two 3 egg omelets at the same time.I find the 10 inch is perfect for 3 eggs, my husband and I prefer our omelets loose or slightly runny versus dry and this is a great size for that, it is also great for several scrambled eggs or breakfast sausage. The 8 inch is perfect for a 2 egg omelet or scrambled eggs and the 7 inch is perfect for 1 or 2 eggs or sausage.

All Clad fry pans (and the entire All Clad cookware collection) are first class, top quality, well made, designed to last and come with a lifetime warranty.Make sure you only use silicone (my choice), nylon or wooden utensils and hand wash only. The hand washing is a breeze since this nonstick collection is made so well... All Clad makes more sense for your wallet and the environment and wouldn't you rather use "crème de la crème" professional quality cookware than junk?I know I would!

Highly recommended! A+++!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not even this nonstick lasts forever
I have just about avery All-Clad pot or pan.The non sticks are no worse than others out there but, they do eventually flake off their nonstick surface.I did return mine for a full refund after 3 years of use which was nice. However, when it comes to nonstick, that is one time when I would opt for a cheaper version that I won't feel bad throwing away. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth it
I used this at my mother's house over Christmas and must say that this is not a good blender. There is no noticeable difference in the 12 speeds - only between speeds 1-6 and 7-12 and I had to repeatdly turn off the blender, dig in there with a spoon to stir up the fruit (or ice) and then turn it back on again, then it turn off , dig in there with a spoon to stir up the fruit (or ice) and then turn it back on again... And even then I didn't get a well blender smoothie/milkshake.

I personally own the "Oster 4093-8O Classic Beehive Blender, Chrome" and love it (I have a review there). Its well worth the extra $7.22 - makes SMOOTH drinks on one blending cycle.

1-0 out of 5 stars OK if you want a cheap blender, but you get what you pay for
I bought this blender a couple of years ago, and still use it because its all I've got. I want to upgrade! I use it about once every 2 weeks. It is fine for the most basic uses, but honestly all those buttons arejoke - horrible to keep clean, and there is no difference between any of the speeds. And the food doesn't drop down properly, only the stuff at the bottom gets blended. And if there isn't lots of liquid in there, it doesn't blend at all. I would not recommend it to anyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This Blender
My parents still have an Oster blender that's 30 years old and still works perfectly. But Oster blenders nowadays come with cheap motors that smoke the first time they run for more than 15 seconds and burn out on either the first or second batch of daquiries.Maybe it's because Osters are now made in Mexico; I don't know. What I do know is that I will never waste good money on an Oster blender again. The most recent replacement blender Oster sent me burned out five minutes ago, and you can bet I'm p.o.'d.I don't want another replacement - I want my money back. ...
