5-0 out of 5 stars funny stuff
i saw this show on tv a few years back while puffin on an L with my friend. one of the funniest things i've ever seen. only funny if you're into children shows though :)

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time
This tape is just AWFUL.The writing is terrible, the acting is sub-par... it's just a mishmash of too many "special" effects and confusing storylines.Don't bother.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is hilarious but so weird you need to see it twice!
My son got this as a gift (he's six) the first time he watched it, I could hear him laughing hysterically. I sat down to watch it with him. It's very very funny, but very very very weird. Ms.Potato bug (who is French) sings songs with lyrics like "I am potato bug, I like spagetti, I like to get hugs from Mario Andretti, I talk to shoes, but never to boots, I am alergic to certain citrus fruits" Mr. Potato Head's friends include a slab of baloney, and a mound of chick giblets. Like I said, very bizarre. I LOVED this, and so does my son. The humor is pretty sophisticated but there is alot of lower level stuff that little kids can get. It is completely non-violent but never saccharin. If your kids like humor that's a bit off-beat, this is the tape for you. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

If you're the sort of cook who prefers mashed to whipped potatoes, this potato masher could very well become your next best friend. It's safe to use on nonstick cookware, and its durable nylon head is heat resistant to 250 degrees F. This masher works equally well with yams, carrots, bananas, and even apples, and cleans up easily in the dishwasher.

The Good Grips line features durable, nonslip, flexible handles on every product. Ergonomically designed to fit the palm comfortably, the pressure-absorbing processed rubber handle puts less tension on the hands while still providing an outstanding grip. Made from the same material as dishwasher gaskets, the handles are slip-proof--wet or dry--as well as dishwasher-safe. Good Grips products are moderately priced and have won the Tylenol/Arthritis Foundation Design Award. --Laurie Notaro ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Difficult to clean
This Potato Masher from OXO does a super job of mashing potatoes but has a few disadvantages over the traditional wire masher.Since the tines on the nylon masher are very narrow, the potatoes get easily clogged. The small tines also make it difficult to clean.OXO also makes the traditional wire masher out of stainless steel with the OXO grip. That's the one to get.

2-0 out of 5 stars Works ok, sturdy, difficult to clean.
This masher looks great, is (so far) sturdy, but is difficult to clean.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works great!
In true OXO Good-grips style this works great! It is slightly circular so that it can mash all the way around the pan and it didn't destroy the non-stick on my pan when I tried it (somewhat nervously) the other day.My only complaint with it is that it doesn't fit in a normal kitchen drawer. ... Superstone® Potato Roaster
    Kitchen
    list price: $25.00
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

Sure, you can cook a potato in the microwave, but when time allows (you need an hour or so) there's a better way. The natural high-fired stoneware construction of this roaster absorbs moisture, producing a crisp skin while maintaining a perfect, moist interior texture. At 8-1/2 inches in diameter and 5-inches high, this covered roaster is large enough to bake four or five large spuds at a time, or a whole bunch of tiny red potatoes, yellow Finns, or Yukon golds. Add a little chopped garlic and thyme--yum! Cleanup is easy with warm water and a scouring pad if necessary--no soap, as the stone is porous. A recipe booklet is included. Manufactured at the Sassafras pottery in Evanston, Illinois. --Victoria Jenkins ... Read more

    Editorial Review

If you've never experienced a potato ricer, it's not too late to make up for lost time. This simple implement doesn't have a digital clock, doesn't blink when it's ready, and doesn't have a tiny computer chip imbedded in it to do all the work. It takes a bit of pressing and squeezing, but the light and airy potatoes that result will be both memorable and worth the work. Place boiled potatoes in the bowl of the ricer, set it across a saucepan (using the ridge on the head of the bowl), and press the potatoes through the disk--that's it. Stir in a bit of butter and cream, dust with paprika, and enjoy. And be sure to try the ricer with other root vegetables, such as carrots, yams, and turnips. --C. Whitney-Ward ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It's not just for mashed potatoes
We would hate to be parted from our ricer - it has become an important tool in our kitchen!

The only "gotcha" about it is that, even though the ricer is very sturdily built, if you make mashed potatoes, or other mashed veggies, with it, they must be completely cooked. Our son tends to undercook veggies and then wonders why it's so hard to use and why the handle flexes.

We cook the veggies until a knife can be easily inserted into them, and don't have his troubles.

And, while it makes great mashed potatoes, with three ricing discs of different sizes, we've used it for other things. One of our favorites is spaetzle, a German dumpling dish.

    Splurge!You'll be happy you did!

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely
Absolutely the best potato ricer on the market.Don't use it just for that, use it to strain blanched spinach, etc.If you use it only for potatoes, don't bother chopping them. Just cut them in half and boil. When they are done, put them in the ricer, skin side up and let it do it's thing!Just potato, no skin....the ricer does all of the work!

5-0 out of 5 stars the only one to buy...
this is it...if you know what a ricer will do for potatoes and you learn how to use it, this is the one your looking for. The Williams-Sonoma is plastic, it flexs and it does sloppy work. The Cuispro straddles a bowl, is rock solid and drops in the dishwasher for cleaning. buy it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Joke wears a little thin
Let's face it, this instant Zen thing is funny. But once you've shelled out the bucks for the kit, you may find yourself wondering why you bothered. You're never really going to understand Bonsai by sprouting a potato. You might learn something about Zen somewhere down the road, but I wouldn't count on it. If it was this simple, all elementary school teachers would be Bodhisattvas and their students, enlightened masters. No, this is pretty much a joke, and a good one, too, but in the end it's a lot of money to pay for something that's going to leave you with a rotting potato and a bunch of bored friends who have heard the joke a few dozen times. You could go to the supermarket and get a sweet potato and do the same thing for far less.

4-0 out of 5 stars gives a great indepth step by step care
GREAT, I would recamend this book to anyone who is interested in the great art on bonsai

5-0 out of 5 stars I am in love with bonsai potatos!

    Editorial Review

Not your standard garden-variety timepiece, this unusualdigital clock harnesses the power of potatoes. Safe and easy tooperate, the Two Potato Clock works by capturing electricity created bya chemical reaction inside of the potato. Sure to turn heads at theoffice, and a great conversation starter at home, the clock neverrequires any batteries--only a fresh set of tubers (any variety willdo) once in a while. Brave Potatoes
Average Customer Review: 5.0 out of 5 stars
    Hardcover (22 May, 2000)
    list price: $15.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

Rarely does potato poetry reach such laudable heights as in this pieceof inspired lunacy from the tomfool team Toby Speed and Barry Root of Two Cool Cows. Surely thesenoble tubers have long deserved some sort of epic treatment (one wonders, forinstance, why there's never been a "Charge of the Spud Brigade" or "The TaterNot Taken"), but Brave Potatoes at last gives the forsaken roots theirwell-deserved due, in a wonderfully weird and lyrical tribute.

Squeezed in between the prize perennials and the summer squash at a county fair4-H hall, the potatoes begin their night of adventure, rubbing their eyes asthey stir to life. "Everyone's asleep in the Bud and Bean Arena. / So all theprize potatoes with their eyes wide open topple to the hard-knocky floor." Thislumpy little crew has just one thing in mind: heading down the midway to take aride on the Zip. "Over at the Fair, / potatoes in the air! / See them flip, flip, flip on the wild and woolly Zip!" But across town at the Chowder Lounge,Chef Hackemup has other plans for these high-flying potatoes--hoping to makecurly fries, chips, and gumbo à la Zip, "Off goes / Hackemup / with a bag/ to pack 'em up." Can these spuds possibly survive his shredder and his graterand his So-Long-See-You-Later? Only if they're brave enough, of course, and youcan bet that all the other vegetables held captive in Hackemup'smad-scientist-style kitchen are counting on them.

Speed's well-crafted verse ("If real words won't do, I make some up," he admits)is matched only by Root's luminescent and hilariously detailed illustrations.(Ages 7 to 10) --Paul Hughes ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Potatoes a la Zip!
My 4 year old daughter grabbed this book off the library shelf at random two weeks ago and now it is our favorite book to read. When this book goes back to the library, our own copy will grace her bookshelf. Our daughter has memorized the entire story and recites it with enthusiasm. Her favorite part is the last page of verse, coupled with the final picture of the chef. "Closed, Gone Fishing"-- it gets a laugh every time. The only trouble is, I think she wants to be a potato when she grows up! A great book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious story that appeals to toddlers and adults
I first read this myself and then read it to my 2 1/2 year old. It is a wonderfully funny adventure of the potatoes at a state fair as they escape from a chef who is cooking up a pot of soup. Whilesome of the vocabulary is above the heads of toddlers, the story line is not lost on them and the illustrations are quite fun. This is a book to have in your library and will be read by your kids for many years to come.
