Cuisinart grind and brew coffeemaker
We are on our 3rd Cuisinart.After 4 months the water did not drip through often requiring repressing on 2-3 times.At this point the grinder basket does not lift out of the pot. It has to be forced up from underneath.I love this coffee pot and wish the quality was consistent.Cuisinart has not been responsive with complaints.

Overall poor design; carafe lid doesn't stay on
I bought this coffeemaker in June 04. It worked consistently until May 05 when suddenly it fried (it had just finished brewing and was keeping a pot of coffee warm). Aside from the fact that it didn't last more than a year (my last coffeemaker lasted 5+) I would not buy this coffeemaker again.
First of all, pouring the water in is *very* tricky--instead of being large and in front, you have to aim in the back right, in a tiny hole. It's also hard to see where it's supposed to go because it's all black. I seriously had to pull it out and turn it every day in order to fill it with water; even still I spilled sometimes.

The lid on the carafe does not have any clasp to keep it on--it falls off if you don't hold on to it when pouring, and if it's not on *perfectly* when you brew, coffee spills all over. Of course, over time the lid gets more and more warped from the steam, so it becomes harder to get it to stay on.

The stainless steel never looked clean, no matter how often I worked on it. I think this had to do with the steam always condensing on the sides.

Finally, the coffee doesn't taste substantially better than any other coffeemakers I've tried. Good beans and fresh grinding matter more.

Keeps the coffee hot
I've tried them all, and while this is not perfect... it's the best I've found, and looks cool too.
The feature I like best is that you have some control of the temperature.Most coffee machines do not keep it hot enough for me.
I also frequently use it to brew tea, and I keep a hot pot going for hours while I'm working.
My first one only lasted about two years, but consider that I use it several times daily for both coffee and tea and that it's not unusual for it to be running for 12-16 hours per day.
I was so satisfied with it's performance that when it broke, I simply ordered another.

Filter Basket IS replaceable
Have had my Braun KF550 coffee maker about a week and it makes wonderful coffee!
In one of the reviews, I saw that the filter basked could be replaced in the black or white only but not the grey/silver.I wrote the company and here's what they replied:

In regard to your inquiry, we do have silver/black trim filter basket available for your Braun unit.At this time it is not currently listed on-line, but you may purchase this item by calling us at 1-800-924-4950, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.The item number for the basket you are looking for is C7050-288 Silver.

So, everyone, enjoy your coffee maker and fear not, the KF550 filter basket CAN be replaced in the same color that came with it.

Great Coffee Maker !
After reading some of the reviews here on Amazon, I was a bit reluctant to try this coffee maker.But then I thought "what the heck" and decided to buy it anyway.I've had the Braun KF550 for about six months now and I've been very pleased with it.This little coffee maker brews a great cup of coffee (and the machine looks great on my counter).It doesn't have many of the bells and whistles that some other models offer, but who needs those anyway.If what's really important to you is great tasting coffee, then give this coffee maker a try.

I haven't had any of the problems described in some of the other reviews (such as overflow or coffee grounds in my coffee).If you're concerned with the possibility of coffee grounds getting into your brew, you can always use a paper filter.They're cheap and easy to find - my grocerty store sells them for less than $2 a box.

Perfectly Good Coffee Maker
I bought mine nearly a year ago. It has not disappointed me once. I often use fine "espresso ground" and have never had an overflow problem. Probably because I don't overfill the filter basket in an attempt to brew something stronger than normal coffee. Nor have I ever had any problem with grounds showing up in my cup. Probably because I use a paper filter inside the mesh filter. Coffee brewed properly SHOULD be too hot to drink straight away after brewing. Have a caffeinated soda if you're in such a hurry. Likewise, pour at a reasonable rate and the pot will not spill. The design of this coffemaker is excellent. It looks good and functions well. The entire filter basket assembly can be easily removed for cleaning. And the fact that you can place the washed pot on the hotplate with the lid propped open to allow air drying is a welcome and useful feature. ... Read more

A trusty, 'Brauny' little grinder
I've enjoyed this grinder for over 5 years, faithfully reducing beans to grounds and a fragrant aroma every morning.This grinder won't win any fashion awards, but it's simple to use, easy to clean, and durable.If it has a shortcoming, it would be its tendency to overgrind beans, producing a fine power that gets by my gold-mesh cone.Therefore the user needs to monitor the grind carefully.

small, neat and efficient
When I received a bag of coffee beans in a gift package, I decided to do what every coffee lover eventually does, get a grinder, and enjoy the marvelous aroma of newly ground beans, and the freshest of coffee in my cup.
I've always had good luck with Braun appliances, so chose this sleek and easy little grinder, which is simple to operate and clean; it only has one lever, with the fineness of the grind determined by how long you press it down, and the progress is visible through the clear top. For an extra fine grind, use less beans for best results...there is a warning to not "overheat the motor", which would probably be the result of grinding too many beans at one time for too long.

Cleaning is a snap: The top rinses out, and a swipe with a paper towel cleans out the grinding cup, which is part of the motorized section, and the bottom has a handy spool for use as a cord wrap.
Now my little kitchen area is permeated with the smell of fresh coffee, my lattes taste better than ever, and I have the new adventure of trying out different types of beans, and delight in the wondrous world of gourmet coffee !

I sent my brother a shipment of this coffee for his birthday last month and he still thanks me every time that we speak. My brother is one of those people that is difficult to buy for and he actually said to me, "you get the award for the best birthday present ever". I can't tell you what joy that brought me to know that I gave him something that he enjoyed so much. He said it was "amazing coffee" and that I must order some for myself. Doesn't fit all cone style coffee makers
We bought this filter today because the package said it would fit every #4 cone style coffee maker on the market.Well, it doesn't.We own a Kitchenaid, and it didn't fit ours.I'm sure this would be a great filter if we had the right kind of machine.

A must for entertaining!
I bought this urn recently to complement a West Bend urn I already owned so I could have urns for both decaf and regular coffee when I entertain.Now I wish I had two of the DeLonghi.The clear tube outside shows the water/coffee level, and the interior basket is marked so you don't have to measure the grounds before filling.Two lights, red and green, indicate when the coffee is perking and when it is ready for serving.Even unplugged after brewing, the coffee is kept hot for hours.Easy to clean and high-tech looking with its stainless steel and black exterior, this urn makes a great addition when entertaining large groups of people.(Perked coffee takes longer to brew than drip, so start the brewing a half hour or more before the coffee is needed; this urn brews quicker than does my West Bend, but it still takes time.)

I highly recommend this urn.I don't think there is a better one on the market.

At the store I work for we have a DeLonghi Coffee Urn and can barely keep the thing filled.The staff have to refill the thing up at least twice to three times a day because half of the people alone who do partake of our free goodness are drawn to the looks of this coffee urn alone.Which is why we occasionally have to wipe the finish because so many people want to handle it.It draws people to it, unlike other large unseemly cumbersome coffee urns, this one is very easy to handle, and to clean.Why you would want to store it away and use it on occasion I don't know.I would buy one, except we have one at work and, well, I drink too much coffee there and at home as it is.Coffee is good!And if the coffee is good, the urn where your friends, customers, and family get it should look good also.People pay a lot of attention to how things look, and pure utter stainless steel goes with everything.It even makes the stryofoam cups look good. ... KF550 filter?
Is this the filter for the braun KF550? Who knows? Amazon sure doesn't seem to. The virtually worthless Braun product manual doesn't say either. Why is it that Amazon concerns itself with recommending to me music based on what I bought in March 1999, but can't be bothered to recommend to me an expendable filter for the coffee pot I bought in February 2005?

This item definately makes the coffee taste better. The filters are difficult to find, but I am glad that Amazon has them. I replace the filters every 3 months like clockwork now that I found a reliable place to get them. Before, the coffee did not taste great, however the filters help tremendoulsy with the flavor due to the water quality at our home.

You can't beat this airpot!
I love this airpot.It keeps coffee hot for hours without the burning often caused by a coffee maker warmer.The design itself is simple:a glass-lined thermos, a removable spigot that extends to the bottom of the carafe, and a detachable top that, when in place, serves as both pump and seal.During transportation or storage, the lever fits into a groove in the top. A small catch keeps the lever up for use.The capacity is enormous; I've only put twelve cups at a time inside, and I always have room for at least another six cups.As this carafe is tall and narrow, storage could be a problem if you have low clearance cupboards.

For best results, fill the carafe with hot water to heat the glass before filling, as preheating extends the number of hours of hot coffee. (I once forgot to empty the carafe; twenty hours later, the coffee was still warm.)The stainless steel exterior wipes clean with a damp cloth.Rinse other parts in warm water, either with or without a mild soap.

I use this airpot often when I have company.It's great for keeping regular coffee hot while brewing a pot of decaf.Because it is easily transported (note the handle on the top), it can be carried outside for a barbecue or picnic.With the coffee kept hot for a minimum of six hours, you have plenty of time between brewing and consumption. ...
